On democracynow, judge has determined that NYC fire fighters test discriminates against blacks & Latinos. Dept is 95% white, while NYC pop is majority black & Latino.

Back about a million years ago when I was an appellate printer in NYC we handled an appeal on the exact same issue. Seems nothing has changed…

Leaves me speechless that kind of thing still goes on. I have only one personal experience with NYC fire fighters, at a fund raiser for a memorial garden for 9/11 victim. Attendees were NYC teachers, mostly female, and NYC fire fighters, all white males. My niece & I tried to integrate between the 2 groups, and the ffs we tried to talk to were unable to engage outside their own group.

NPR says Hillary is returning to US to oversee the Haitian relief effort from deecee.

Hey, Hillary, do ya think it would be a good idea to bring Aristide back to help rebuild his country? Methinks the criminals and killers we put in charge aren’t up to the task.

Snowe and Lieberman gave Obama and Reid the cover they needed to gut the Senate healthcare reform bill on progressive feature at a time without receiving the blame that they personally deserve. They thereby served their masters well and will, no doubt, be well rewarded for it.

White governments, particularly ours and France, have targeted Haiti since the Haitians didn’t like being slaves and revolted.

Doug Elmendorf rules us all.

Per that article:

In the past, when CBO has predicted dramatic changes to the economic forecast, members of Congress have asked analysts to provide unofficial numbers based on the new numbers. And therein lies an opportunity for Republicans eager to drive a wedge between progressives and their more economically conservative brethren in the Democratic Party.

In fact that split has already occurred, per David. With the House tied 217-217, and Pete DeFazio threatening to switch sides unless he gets some Lieberman-esque concessions, this bill’s goose is cooked.

Why are none of the progressive blogs even mentioning the latest Whitehouse BS lie? According to Obama’s Whitehouse, in the last year, the stimulus saved over 2 million jobs. Yet from the blogs, nothing. Like the Whitehouse never issued a statement. Last year I personally saved thousands of polar bears. Did I? Can it be proven? Just kind of wondering why the blogosphere didn’t shout back at this blatant lie.

Thanks. I didn’t realize a person could do that here! But my point was, why are none of the progressive blogs posting about it. Not just here. Even HuffPost only had it on for a short time before they buried it. I would think with the economy the way it is, something like this is important? Probably more important than the latest “Rush Limpbaugh is a bag of ___” or the latest Sarah Palin news, as some of the blogs seem to be obsessed with. Anyway, thanks for the info!

Bradblog, an (mostly) election integrity blog, has an article up on a new study that apparently casts serious doubt on the validity of the Prop 8 voting results…

Your name is new to me, thus the direction to The Seminal. It’s really easy to post your own story and you can add photos, links, videos. If I can do it, anyone can.
It’s better to light a candle than curse the darkness.
Your concern about the stimulus and jobs sounds like a worthwhile subject. I encourage you to try a diary.

The White House has no votes to spare in the House of Lords, and it’s officially 219-215, i.e., two votes to spare, in the House of Representatives. But it looks like both spares will be taken by anti-abortion types and DeFazio is teetering.

Maroon! Go back to skool & learn to spel!
Heh. ROFLMAO

In MA Brown is driving a pickup truck to appear folksy. How many senators drive a pickup? Maybe Brown is campaigning to be a mayor. Does the pickup spew black smoke?

It may be kabuki, but sometimes you’ve just got to look the part in order to get the attention of the audience, so they’ll listen to your plans to clean up their world and put ‘em back to work (or both at the same time).

Cleaning up the environment with Green cars or solar collectors or wind turbines and other Green Revolution things which will supplant some of coal & oil burning.

Cleaning up the financial world with new regulations, transparency & oversight will not only make the system run better it will restore some confidence in the political system (for doing it’s job).

Now, batting cleanup…

Communication IS a huge issue and it’s one reason we have a representative gov’t and we demand those people be able to listen to any of their constituents. Listening is very important, as Hillary Clinton has sort of made famous with her “listening tours”.
