It’s been awhile, Suz…! ;-)
Back in a few.
glad you are back among the connected dood :)
Must I depress all the pups…? ;-)
i’ll be here :)
go for it dood — i double dog dare ya
Hey, me too. Give. To CTuttle
76°F | °C
Current: Overcast
Wind: SE at 10 mph
Humidity: 64%
A bit muggy…! ;-)
hey ce — how’s ohio tonight?
Suz! Toons!
47 and not raining! supposed to even get some sunshine here tomorrow.
that muggy is what’ll save ya dood :)
hey newton — how’s the sf bay area tonight?
Did you get some of those 100 mph winds I saw reported of late in Oregon…?
Nice. By our standards, chilly.
But in Cleveland, it would be tanning weather.
Very cold, lovely with 12 inches of snow, but with all roads clear. I spent a delicious three hours in bed reading New Yorker articles from the last two issues. I am very bad.
iirc the strongest i’ve gotten was high 80′s low 90′s…. the builder of this place picked a sheltered location that misses a lot of the wind.
I thought anything above 32 was tanning weather in Ohio…! ;-)
sounds like exactly what one should do when it is very cold with a foot of snow on the ground. good not bad!
here, the temperature is 10, not the wind speed~!
That’s still a serious blow…! How did Bailey and Token fare…? ;-)
stephanie is in colorado and told me yesterday that she couldn’t believe she said ‘its 14 outside — lets take advantage of the warmth while we can’. she thanked me for raising her in the sf bay area.
hey margot — brrrrrr how ya doing tonight?
token doesn’t bark at the wind as much as he used to but he still startles when the house creaks. bailey tries to be invisible hunkered down on the sofa.
Suz that’s a great cartoon, thanks.
PS doing fine, and you?
thanks margot. the orchestra kinda reminded me of some recent threads around here….
i’m tired — its been a long day
I cited this New Yorker article in my latest diary…! ;-)
You would have to ask an expert. :-)
That’s a wild cartune, Suz
hey ppd — i thought it was a hoot :)
kelly — how’s denver tonight?
whoops.. wrong thread — kelly is still downstairs
You come up with the crazzzziest features
Nothing better. NYorker is what I take wherever I can’t take the laptop.
Fun Car-tune. 48 on my back patio in Phoenix right now.
*laughing* the utubes are a treasure trove (and a time machine)
I was most interested in the one about van Gogh’s ear by Adam Gopnik. Did you read this?
Hey Suz, that is a CLASSIC tune
Here’s another Max Fleischer classic (and a first)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UjM9UI40jk
hey poolman — ya’ll not used to that down there (laughing)
hey emerson — love popeye
back in a few
my mom moved to the phoenix area from the palm springs area and she’s not used to having the changes in weather there.
how’s socal tonight loohoo?
and Betty Boop (wink)
I met an appliance repairman at a rental this week. The tenant dog is such a love that he jumped up on the repairmas’s leg.
He told me a story about another house he’d worked on, and that the similar dog wore a watch instead of a collar. A watchdog!
How was your salon, Suz? Haven’t read it yet, but I will.
boo boop da doop (or however the heck ya spell that)
hahahahaha
RIP…!
Me, too, Loo Hoo! I can’t keep up enough to read it!
it went surprising well — i was such a nervous nellie and it was fun in spite of all my nerves. i learned a lot from the questions and i think ethan had a good time — he said he would visit again.
*sigh* i loved gumby when i was a kid almost as much as i loved rocky and bullwinkle
Oh, me too!
Crime’s a natural for you – wonder why?
;>)
hey db — i was always looking for the why. and i’m a libra — that whole scales of justice thing.
how’s canada tonight dood?
?
Sweet Suz, you did wonderfully today. Just think, this was the first…how much better will they get with time?
cause it doesn’t get so cold that 14 is considered warm there
how ya doing tonight bb?
thanks loohoo
Warmer…Winter’s softening us up for the kill, just toying with us now.
;>)
I commented on your facebook today. Have you figured it out yet? Not me!
We got the jackets out, for sure. It was in the upper 60′s today.
database connection error has occurred try again
yikes….
Outstanding!! No one here is surprised, I bet. :-)
try clearing your cache bb — no problems on this end
thanks for the heads up — when i talk to mom during our usual sun call, i’ll beat her to the punch about the weather :)
*heh* It could always be worse… Say like Pine Point, NWT or Yellowknife…! ;-)
ohmystars… local news showed a clip of firemen trying to put out a fire in omaha and the water froze in their fire hoses…..
We didn’t get Gumby where I lived, or at least I never knew about it…until SNL started doing skits about it.
i would spend hours trying to figure out how they made those gumby cartoons.. i knew regular cartoons like rocky were drawn frame by frame but could not figure out the gumby.
I’m too evil to figure such things out, Loo Hoo.
;>)
DAMN YOU! I have been downstairs, refreshing, and refreshing!
But not looking at the damn CLOCK! I know better….
hey kelly — i accidently asked ya on this thread how was denver — and forgot to go back downstaris and tell ya to get your tushkie up here
i’m sorry — does being tired count as a valid excuse?
Hell ya. I’m way tired!
whew.. cause i’m forking fried dood… loooong day — thanks for understanding
*heh* let me guess… Ya had to get up before the crack of noon again, eh…? (ducking…) ;-)
dayam near — had to get enough coffee in me to be civil and cognizant by 2pm.
OK so here’s my brain, to those who care:
-The last one of the kids is going to Afghanistan, in uniform; Marines.
-The old ones; got FIL Charlie out of hospital last Monday. Follow up? Good on status, bad on pay/institution. Is it VA or Medicare responsible?
-Grateful for job, no promotion, yet expansion of duties. Now must travel 50% of time.
Send cocktails. Stat.
These teenagers today spell everything L-A-Z-Y, if you ask me.
;>)
dayam kelly.. that’s a full plate ya got going there
What’ll you have?
Plate, schmate, I said SEND COCKTAILS, STAT!
LOL!
ya’ll need appetizers dood — can’t drink on an empty stomach
One Grasshopper, one Old-Fashioned, one whiskey sour, one White Russian
Hi!
The first is enough already…! I wish him godspeed and a safe deployment…! *g*
After all those long nights and bright lights, I’m proud to say still don’t need glasses…Straight from the bottle, bottoms up.
;>)
as long as ya have that chicken wire screen….
Long but productive.
yup — a good tired
I’ve played in places like that – when they liked you, they threw empties…If they hated you, incoming were full and capped.
;>)
been in a few bars like that myself (laughing) back when i had a social life…
They’re great places to see the common clay of the New West in full feather…But I don’t miss them, I’m not as patient with inebriated fools as I used to be.
;>)
with age comes wisdom — at least enough wisdom to stay outta country bars that have live bulls to ride — inside — next to the tequila dental chair and dance floor.
sure don’t look like we are gonna have another 200 night tonight *g*
Holidays are over…
Probably an indoor firing range, too – Nothing says higher cognitive function like the old liquor & shootin’ iron combo.
;>)
We think you should go to sleep (nudge, nudge)
no weapons… last time i went there, the bulls were gone and they pat’d down everyone walking in and wanded em. *sigh*
*laughing* it shows that badly? dayam, i thought i was covering well.
Here’s how I do it:
Well, time to go. Nice playing with you, pups. G’nite all!
Nite Suzanne!
Leave it to liberals to squelch our good times.
;>)
but if i do that everyone will head out and i’ll have killed the thread emerson
am glad those days are behind me
tomorrow’s another day.
(I’m supposed to be gone now, Suz…)
g’nite emerson
Hi everyone.
CT – did you see that HuffPo has an item up about our “Sarah Palin-like” representative [Dem. Neil Abercrombie is resigning his House seat to campaign for governor] AND the fact that Hawaii is so poor it doesn’t have the funds for an election to replace him?
Lots of “now you know how DC feels” comments.
*aargh* shitty wifi is acting up again… I shall bid ya’ll a fond adieu…! Aloha Oe…!
hey mauimom — dayam
Well, thumping some sense into a tinhorn with a quick draw mouth loses its luster after a while, I suppose.
;>)
aloha ct
I’ll check it out later… I want to see D’jou win just to see what kinda noise he’ll raise in DC… Case is a Bluedog and Hanabusa is not too far behind…!
That’s not good.
In NM, they’re making state workers take 5 furlough days per some time period, can’t remember what, and a pay cut. There’s a song someone there made up called Furlough, to the tune of Day-O.
Frank Rich has a good column up [for tomorrow's edition] about all the financial shenanigans. However, while citing chapter and verse of the Goldman criminals, need for Pecora commission, etc. he never mentions Obama’s name — and Obama’s responsibility a) for choosing these fools; and b) for not realizing — after a L-O-N-G year of their actions — just how bad they are.
I wrote a comment pointing that out.
NYT really pisses me off: they close down the comments on articles after about 15 minutes. Unless, like now, I happen to float over there at the East Coast equivalent of 3 in the morning, by the time I read an article the next morning, and want to share my fabulous thoughts, they’ve clamped the comment door shut.
it does — tis a job for someone a lot younger than me.
I was remembering you said Case was worthless, and I couldn’t remember about the others.
Have you seen that Case already has ads up on the teevee?
sorry folks
wall hit — please don’t leave cause i am.
g’nite all and thank you for your kind words today.
They furloughed our teachers: no classes on Fridays for the rest of the school year. This in a state that’s at the bottom of the education barrel.
Who sez?
Suz, it was great – you’re a natural. More crime books at salon!!!!
Nighters, Suz. ¥ou deserve sleep!
No school on Fridays? That’s astonishing. Furloughs (unpaid), all this other stuff, it just doesn’t have the visual punch of men lining the streets for soup.
If only we had some new guy in office who…never mind.
That is truly shocking. And what a hit for working mothers of young students.
Hawaii has a Republican governor [this is her second term]. Naturally her response to all things fiscal is to cut taxes.
You can see the electoral effect of having crappy schools/education. Seriously: the letters to the editor in the papers here make you want to cry, the folks are so stupid.
Please forgive my ignorance. Is Hawaii a poor state?
baaaaaack
Patrick’s in the other room looking at photos on the web of his friend’s bookstore in Eureka, where all the books fell down this afternoon and the windows were all blown out. Nobody hurt yet, lots of power outages and water, gas and sewer leakages.
Earthquakes: not fun
g’nite everybody, see you tomorrow
Yikes–hope everthing’s okay.
Am here really late–went out to three gay bars tonight, and had fun. Not young-crazy bars, but middle-aged bars. That’s more my speed! Looking for some venues to play some music.
Short answer: Yes
A bit longer answer: Most everything has to be imported. The cost of living is roughly 25% – 30% higher than the highest cost of living areas on the mainland. The 2 biggest employers (at least when I was out there in the late ’70s/early ’80s) are Tourism and DoD.
Thanks dakine.
