Thought you might be interested in this bit of tea party info I dug up.
I’ve been doing research following the money for the Tea Party Express II tour partners. In my request for information from one tour partner  I found out that the President and co-founder of the group, (The Multi-cultural Conservation Coalition) is William Owens, he is also the head of itouchPublishing and his company was paid $16,200 by the Our Country Deserves Better PAC for “PAC printing costs and generic fund raising”.(link to the FEC filing of OCDB PAC) Owens also went on the tour and is selling a book  The Tea Party Express Commemorative Journal.

Also in the PAC filings I saw that Lloyd Marcus, the singer of the Tea Party Express anthem, was paid $1,500.

So what’s the big deal? What this means is that the two prominent black participants  (Owens and Marcus) were paid to be involved in the tour. Sure they might have also done it for free on their own time and for all I know they lost money from lucrative singing and book selling careers to be on the tour. But what it looks like is that OCDB and the other people who put this together decided to buy themselves some racial credibility and got a black singer and a black printer to provide a nice photos for the media for this fundraising photo op.

Here’s another funny bit. In the Multi-cultural Conservative Coalition web page they have rotating photos of various ethnic groups at the top. Clearly stock photos and not actual members of this Coalition. I asked the group for information about the Coalition and if they answer we will see just how transparent they are. My guess, not very.

BTW, I’m trying to get the 990s and other financial information from all these Tea Party Express II groups.
I suspect I’ll find out more info like that.
