Hey Suz.
hey ktown — how’s k-town tonight?
Dude, how’s yer bruises from yer Kos posting healing?
Ouch!
hey kelly — how’s denver?
as BB would say “Cold as a Witches Tit”..
I’m still pissed that my Oilers lost to the Sharks…! 8-P
colder than a mother-in-laws heart is another variation i’ve heard before
awwww… crocodile tears…… ha
G’evening, Suze & Pups! Stopping by for a bit before i hobble off to bed … dang, this below zero shit seriously cramps my style.
hey ndfg — brrrrrr – hurts to even think about below zero outside
Dood!
I’ve clocked about 16 hours at the hospital since Friday night with Belch’s dad, and running around and on the phone since he had his COPD episode.
Sorry, but I’m grumpy, ’cause this healthcare thing is way personal right now.
We get to bring him home tomorrow; but the battle is already on since he’s a VA patient yet he had to go to the Exempla hospital nearest him. I managed to put a stop to him signing “personal responsibility” to his admission yesterday.
At least the admin staff realizes “Don’t fuck with us.” But good lard, it’s such a battle.
egad kelly — glad he is doing better.
and fyi — i’m a doodette (i double checked)
Hi Suz and Pups
Mighty happy to see Dennis taking Rahm’s place in the upper right corner of my screen..
nite pups… long weekend..
hey sunny — how ya doing tonight?
i arrived “after hours” at the thread the other night, {{{ Kelly, Belch, Belch’s Dad & family }}} My thoughts are with you all! It is good you are there to be an advocate.
g’nite nahant
Hey! I thought “dood” was gender neutral!
Dude – men, Dudette – Women, Dood – good for the tubes and whatevah!
Cause I already knew you are a fabulous woman! Lard Help Me! I can’t do anything right today.
sorry babe — ya left that chain dangling there and i just had to yank on it in a failed attempt at humor
Teddy had a great post today. The hits just keep on coming.
Good evening hostess Suz. I will sign the new add.
We had a short but nice sunny day with a good tide until 2:30 the someone pulled the cork.
Did my best return from the spit 1.5 miles in 12.20 or about 2.45 minutes for 500 meters on a perfect day
Hi Nahant
A little Sunday Night rock and roll!
hey bb — tide gotcha?
It’s cold and I’m not asleep. Otherwise, good!
*accepts “babe”, actually LOVES IT! Bows to Suz. Shuts up while the shutting-up is good*
hey that guy — that’s forking awesome toon — got my foot tappin immediately
how ya doing tonight dood?
How’s the healing going NFG? Hope well.
Which one of the beatings at kos are you talking about?
perhaps an additional blanket would help ktown
unless of course ya would rather stay up and hang out here instead of sleeping…
yeah, a co-worker of mine did this Polar Bear Plunge on Friday. Frikkin nuts, i say!
*big assed grin* followed by a *whew*
Was gonna whine about it being 14 tonight, but now NDFG’s here, it would sound like bragging :-/
Below zero!!! yikes!
brrrrrr no forking way would i do that unless i was just too drunk to care
Back to work tomorrow so you know what that means – high anxiety. That’s ok, i hace mah mudder’s li’l helpers. Sometimes ya just have to let better living through chemistry™ help you.
Erm, that little old 300+ beat-down-Godzilla-Stomp one. :)
Dude, you are one brave MoFo to walk in that blog with that post..
go ahead and whine sunny 14 sounds a whole lot colder than my 48. brrrrr
Very glad you guys are there for him.
that first monday have to get up alarm clock after a holiday is the worst.
thanks! Exciting progress, of sorts. the medical airbubble is half gone, and i could vaguely see my hand waggling four fingers in the non-air portion of my field of vision. This is very exciting considering that three weeks ago i only saw blinding glares of light. If it were the good old days without today’s technology, i would be blind in one eye. If i didn’t have a job with ok insurance, i’d be blind in one eye.
hey margot — how ya doing?
Oh, I’ve heard that really helps arthritis. Of course if it stops your heart then you ain’t got a care in the world…
progress! thank goodness you were ndfg
Second that..what a relief.
I don’t usually need an alarm clock, it’s just some dread anticipation. It’s been tough lately, new role, far more demanding. So, in order to sleep and to keep me on an even keel tomorrow, I’ll just use a little help. If that makes me weak, fuck it, I’m weak.
That must be a real old tradition. My mother used to talk about it when we were kids complaining about the cold.
Great news!
you can whine about 14! The linkie i provided for Suze, the crazy folks were jumping into the lake when the air was about that temp. The bystanders are certainly bundled up! I start whining once the temp drops below 50. And i don’t stop until about the middle of July. Why do I stay in Minnesnowta? Frikkin nutz i guess.
i’ve battled alarm clocks my adult life. my mom used to say that i was the worst to get outta bed in the morning as a kid — guess that trait was one i didn’t outgrow. not having anyone or anything telling me when to get outta bed is the best thing about retirement — i find i get up around the same time very day (the crack of noon)
Fine Suz, I’m re-reading an old favorite book, The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins. Just wish it had larger print. And you?
reading shake the devil off — the book for sat 1/9′s book salon. wow
No… Frikkin Frozen nuts… M’dear…! *g*
btw, I hate shitty wifi…!
as bad as dialup ct?
The one today “O’s first year: failure”?
I can take it. The experience was most enlightening. They swarmed as if they were organizing, you know, for america. The vast majority were w/o substance. Also revealing.
frikkin frozen nuts would be the White Witch of the North, aka failin palin. btw, my daughter put on facebook, “received Sarah Palin’s book yesterday. It put the gag in gag gift.”
Off to sleep some. Have a great tomorrow.
Thanks! ((((hugback)))
g’nite bb
Wow… speechless
Not that bad… but, that intermittent shit needs to go…! ;-)
tis all a matter of perspective — that dialup memory can make me appreciate even shitty wifi
of course, i’ve been called pollyanna many times too
I just have the damn nagging anxiety. I hate it.
Thanks – yep armed with the legal pad. That’s how it works you know, ask questions “What’s your name? What’s this med? Who ordered it?” and so forth and write things down OBVIOUSLY.
It’s just what one has to do. How this is supposed to change under the current legislation, I have no idea. And for those people who DON’T have someone doing that for them, I have no answer.
gotta learn to manage it so the nagging shuts up dood — i’ve used skills such as opposite to emotion to help shut off my nags
Well you gotta lotta cojones!
Margot, I got some new reading glasses and it’s made a world of difference. The eyeglass guy put new lenses in some sturdy sunglass frames I owned for cheap. I didn’t know that was an option..
i’ve overdue for an eye exam — my reading glasses are 6 years or older (oy). they work really well when perched on the end of my nose and not worth 2 cents when up where they are supposed to be (laughing) frames are still good tho…
I went over there during the bs that got kicked up over Jane fighting for what’s right. At the time, I didn’t understand what was going on over there. It’s becoming clearer.
Suz – just a tech note.
The “Let’s Finish The Health Reform Fight” ad/skin isn’t working properly. Well as far as I’ve seen “skins” work in the past.
It’s only taking me to the HCAN letter/Ad if I click on the “Sign Our Letter” button. I’ve usually seen it work where wherever you click on the “skin” you get to the action page.
Just a note.
She’s a chip off the old block, eh…? ;-)
…It put the gag in gag gift.
Bwhahaha…!
thanks kelly — i think it was set up to click with the letter button to avoid accidental clicks on the skin upsetting folks
Ever tried Peace of Mind Camomile tea? Calms me and smells lovely.
I did that years ago with my father in a nursing home. Came to see him and his nose, earlobes, extremities were bluish. What’s wrong with my dad? “Nothing, just has arthritis.” [WHAT?] A minute later a new shift came on, the nurse looked at him and said, What’s wrong with your dad? So I took him to the hospital myself, it was next door.
This began a long letter-writing campaign to the various agencies, nursing home director, director of nursing, etc. etc. etc. I was really pissed off that this happened and they didn’t noticed, but also to be told that this was just fine, standard care. I got doctors to write that this in fact was NOT good care…etc.
I found that nursing homes are only required to take vital signs quarterly. Like, one time every 4 months…
Improvement!
Heh! The “they’re only in it for the money/clicks” crowd will be so PISSED when they find out that the HuffPo and DKos skin mode is actually LESS friendly than teh FDL skin mode!
Weeeee! I love it!
hehehehe
Lord, just watched the vid . . . Suz ya picked a goodie . . . *G*
Judy was the Judy from Laugh In?
Dude, we must SO talk…
I can save you so much frustration and hassle
Sunny, I have trifocals, but still need larger print. This is a really long book but this paperback edition is in tiniest print possible! Only copy they had at the library. I need a magnifier thing.
hey larue — thanks for noticing (and watching) the video dood
yup, that’s judy from laughin — judy carne — didja check out her ‘outfit’?
Genius! I love Jane more every iteration!
Trust me, they do hear us bitch if we’re none too thrilled with a ‘skin’…! It keeps ‘em honest…! ;-)
she really has assembled a great crew of tech folks, among others, who work behind the scenes trying to make the fdl online experience a good one for readers from computer newbies to tech geeks.
Chamomile doesn’t agree with my stomach. :(
I’ve seen John Hiatt with The Goners and solo, about 5 times since ’03.
Sonny Landreth, with various groups and a band of his, 5 times . . .
Sonny is SUCH a hoss! *G*
As is Hiatt . . . My Fav Hiatt
Actually, I communicated a few thoughts that I’d only modify to say that there doesn’t seem to be much of a point in bothering there at all.
Either the Dems have mastered the Jedi mind trick or money is in play. Either way, seems pointless to me. Then again, I’ve only spent a little bit of time there compared to others…
a crazy girl is hard to find
alrighty tighty, time for this ol’ farmgrrrlll to sneak off (Larue doesn’t know i can see perfectly fine from my other eye, and i saw him sneak into the room! Hoss pie fights are fun, but i think i’ll just mosey on out …)
g’night Suze & Pups & Bestest Behind Curtains Crew in the Known Universe!
(and i’m just yanking your chain, larue, Heh. Can’t resist!)
g’nite ndfg
I don’t deny that there’s a great crew for one second.
You, Eureka, Deveria, and so forth as well as Lurk and RGB are completely top drawer, professional, and competent. I’m sure there was a lot of input.
But it boils down to this: I know fucking good and well, this was not a technical decision; it was a business decision.
Know why I know this? Because of basic HTML programming.
There was a choice to add a hyperlink property/properties to the background “skin” image, or not. And other blogs DID, do it, FDL did not.
Bravo!
100
kelly got the coveted 100 tonight and with a dayam nice compliment too
thank you on behalf of the backstage crew kelly
*heh* Live breaking news… Obama is headed to Hickam AFB with Air Force 1 all set for departure…! A red-eye to DC…! ;-)
Judy was pretty well known for short mini’s, but that clip had her in and out of frame so fast, it was hard to tell.
I’m sure she was ‘noticible’ leg wise . . *G*
only breaking news there ct — not a whisper of it here on the oregon coast
she was wearing one of them peekaboo tops that had cutouts showing off the sparkly matching bra — ya see it when bob passes her deans drink to get a sip from….
Not so hard to find, I got one . . . she’s just crazy in ways most folks don’t understand. Comes across quiet and all that, but as loony as they come . . . like Gracie Burns, crazy and sharp as a tack . . *G*
and i gotta say i’m surprised none of ya’ll commented on all the ‘chatter’ about dean’s happy smoke
Wish I hadn’t missed NDFG . . . our Favre and Vikes went 44-something today! *G*
Home field, baby!!! *G*
i’ll second that — you got a fine woman there dood
It was fast, and I DIDN’T pause it . . . ;-)
That’s terrible margot. I really really minded small print before I got rescued. Too frustrating.
Hmm . . . good point, but like all the schtick about his drinking, and the schtick’s many others of them had in them days about their habits, it was kinda lost to me in the overall vibe . . . good catch on your part!
I only watched it once . . . ;-) I was so much younger then, but I used to love Johnny and his guests, when they all cut up like that . . . I gathered this was BEFORE they moved to Left Coast permanent . . . that goes back a long ways . . . *G* When staying up for Johnny was something any of us did back then . . . *G*
The “Let’s Finish The Health Reform Right” ad/skin is cool. Don’t think I’ve ever seen one at fdl before. Do they happen often?
Thanks, luckier n hell . . . . she can do Gracie Burns and then smirk to herself better n anyone I’ve ever seen. *G*
not that i’m aware of. tis easy on the eye yet catches the eye…
Brian, Brian, Brian!
I so love your zeal! If I could bottle it, and sell it, I would!
Take it from an old hag – me- sit down, take a cold hard look at the chessboard, and THINK!
You are “Knight” and above class in your reasoning and argument style. Why should you move pawns? It’s the Bishops, Rooks, King and Queen that you want to move from one piece of the board to another.
To do that, you must gain unassailable ground, which requires PATIENCE! And by that I mean one pawn at a time. Wee bits count a lot compared to blitzkrieg.
Owww too bad. I’ve become a bit of a junkie for it. Less Guinness, more tea ;)
Closing down the unsolicited free advice counter….*g*
i think they were in la full time in 69 but had only been there for a year or less.. i think. dean and johnny were kinda hard to follow when they were talking about it (laughing)
Heh!
nite ndfg.
heh!
heh
More Guiness!
more guinness
Sweet!
Bookmarked!
Heh!
I’m not trying to win arguments with them, if that’s what you mean.
Time for bed. G’nite all!
More Bushmills!
Hell, FUCK Captain Farrell!
For the Celtic Illiterate, the chorus is:
Musha ring ama doo ama dah
Whack fol the daddy o
Whack fol the daddy o
There’s whiskey in the jar.
g’nite ktown — good to see your fonts again

double crap — wrong link… try this one
Good nite! I support you!
You got a bravery about running in those burning buildings that I can’t help but admire. Sleep well!
Whiskey Fire!
one more whiskey
You are on your game tonight!
running on fumes is more like it — tired and am glad the holidays are over and things will settle back down to our usual feverish pitch
One way to what, lassie, the blonde don’t look so happy, neither does the bartender, Chris . . .
But I’ll TAKE the freebies and the room, ANY day!
God what beautiful country . . . . and music, and redheads, and music, and whiskey, and music . . . and black haired ravens with shining icy blue pools of eyes and long dark curls and develish smiles and voices like angels and . .
Whoops.
No shit! and the @134 is killing me.
Haven’t looked at the Larue @128 yet, but I’m pretty sure, I’m DEAD!
*laughing* a lotta the same reasons i wanna head over for a month or two to take in all the sights….
As long as there’s Whiskey In The Jar, what the hayall . . . four centuries worth! *G*
Ther’s Day is Every Day!

Got a New Years gift from Laphroaig .. I square foot of the Isle of Islay. They’ll pay the ground rent in drams if collected in person.
Warmer there than it is here.
*bows*
You win. I have no more fight in me.
/mook
totally forking kewl sunny — thats a great gift
Yeah, me and honey in our dreams take 6 months, fly into Boston, visit her haunts, drive north to Nova Scotia.
Then, we fly into Ireland, and spend 3 months there hooking up with HER clans and folks I know of thru music sites, musicians and such . . . all the while drinking and I’m playing music thru it all and singing songs and eating the FINEST of pub fare as we both grow in girth and mirth exponentially . . . .
Sigh . . . it’s good to have dreams, yes? . . . . sigh . . .
that it is larue — and that’s one fine dream… i figured a month in ireland and then head over to scotland and work my way down to the white cliffs of dover taking my time to gallivant and gaze.
Tom T Hall is one of my sanger songwriter heroes . . . he’s got a body of work that only Willie Nelson can rival.
Song for song, we’re talking about thousands of songs from both of them . . . .
You nailed a great one, Suz . . . ;-)
whiskey dreams
You sure like them slow paced sad songs, doncha . . . *G*
been a tom t fan for many years dood — really connected with his stuff
Not sure I get what you say . . . you bought land and are developing it, there?
i did say i was tired yanno….
this more uptempo?
speaking of tired.. time for me to head out
g’nite all and thank you for letting me spend a wee bit of your sunday with ya
Fight? I never wanted to fight, I just want to duel and annoy each other and rip shit off to use as we do!
*G*
I AM the one who bows to YOU, Mr. Mook . . .
Lately you have come out and had gunz blazing . . . . with thoughts I have, but you, ya mook, you put them either LONGER than I do, or SHORTER than I do, and they are always thoughts I wish I had writ.
German, ya are? Lord, you got some fuckin Blarney Irish in ya, Kelly Canfield . . .
May you never lose your center . . . and thanks for your thoughts.
Shaddup and take the compliment, dammit . . *G*
Oh shit, I left out Scotland!!! *G*

Geebuz, there’s no inbetween with ya is there? *G*
I have Whiskey In The Jar with Thin Lizzy, and Metallica, but I was savin it for Busted’s Heavy Metal Place . .
Suz, yer killin me . . . *G* Don’t ever change! lol
Single malt distillary there gave me a foot of their land. If I show up on Islay (Scotland), they’ll pay their rent in booze ;-)
Ok. We gone, nighty nitey all . . . Whack Fol The Daddy O, There’s Whiskey In The Jar . . .
Whoa, that’s mind bogglin . . . not sure what it’s worth, but hey, land and whiskey in Scotland?
You bad, you bad!!!! *G*
And now, zzzzzzzz . . . . *waves*
Beautiful Suz.
if you catch this- you are doing the right thing. I work in health care and I don’t see a damn bit of help in this legislation. Everyone involved is a weak link~start there and don’t waste energy fighting the fact that you have to be the general contractor- as it is.
my two cents and my warm thoughts~
