While everyone’s focus has been on Yemen – with reports that targets are being examined for possible retaliation attacks by the US – the US war in Afghanistan continues to go bad.

An energy retrofit program would be a boon to the economy, would reduce greenhouse gas emissions and could reduce barriers to entry for millions of Americans who would otherwise not see upgrades in their homes or places of business. But it has to be done in concert with a process that ensures such retrofits are accessible and allowable without blockage at the local level.

Offering a refreshing change of pace, the White House smacks down former Vice President Dick Cheney’s trash talk.

Craig Becker, one of Barack Obama’s nominees to serve on the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), was returned to the White House for reconsideration last week, alongside Dawn Johnsen. Becker is counsel for both the AFL-CIO and SEIU, and was nominated to fill one of three vacancies on the Labor Board.

So why’d Becker’s nomination get returned? President McCain placed a hold.

This bill has a terrible foundation. It is a starter home built with the equivalent of toxic drywall, lead paint, a poorly mixed cement foundation, and faulty electric wiring.

We need to see ALL of the emails.

Leadership in both parties has kept any kind of investigation into these government sponsored entities (GSEs) from happening. But Dennis Kuchinch is the Chairman of the Domestic Policy Subcommittee of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, and he just doesn’t give a fuck.

It’s the right thing to do and it puts him in the driver’s seat. Good for Dennis.

I’m beginning to wonder if Politico pays Dick Cheney per link generated. It seems that every couple weeks or so, they send over a dictaphone to his house which he then fills with the usual paranoid rantings and rhetorical shots at the President. Unfortunately, the dictaphone isn’t accompanied by a “reporter” who could then ask Cheney a “question” about whatever it is he’s discussing at the time.
