What are you doing for New Years Eve? I’ll be dancing with Opal Fly and The Swatters at the grand opening of her Feel Good Lounge.
What’s on your mind tonight?

Aloha, ES…!
ES!!! (:<))
Ooh you Dawg…! 8-P
Good evening..)
but but the Sharks just won…. 5-2… two penalty shots that scored…last time that happened it was 1983…
Hey, ES. New Year’s Eve? I’ll be right here. Will everyone else be partying?
Bourbon is good food.
HI Loo Hoo… If I were in D.C. I would be at the 9:30 Club w/ Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings.
5,4,3,2,1…. Ladies and Germs I present Larue…! ;-)
Hell, no, it’ll take him longer than that. *sweet look*
I’ll be here too, I’ll toast you!
OMG, I want to be on that Opal Fly bus, and about 20 years younger. And have learned zither. But O well!
Just to make me wait…! ;-)
Oh boy. I’d love to see them. Hi ES, thanks for the music and the company.
pause /s
Evening Margot… sitting in front of a warm fire during LLN… one of my favorite pastimes…)
Good deal. I was thinking of white Russians.
Hey Loo Hoo,
I’ll be right here. Fire in the fireplace, probably some treats, and a movie. Will meet you right here before midnight.
Man, I want to try those onion rings.
Opal is VERY easy on the eyes!
Nice bag of varied instruments and song . . .
Yer gonna have fun, aincha!
Boogie on, hoss!
OK, who has movies for New Year’s Eve?
I’ll be wearing the New Year’s party hat from a couple of years ago, Christine. 2010 has got to be better than 2009!
Well you certainly took your sweet arse time, eh…? ;-)
‘K, you two are starting to kill me . . .
And here I’ve been SO supportive . . .
(sorry, movie title SUGGESTIONS for NYEve)
Loo Hoo, rip off that old year on your hat, and make 2010 a bright new sparkly year. Good grief, it has to be better than this miserable year.
So much to say, so few willing to listen, so many rushing to their graves . . .
Sigh, is it not enough for you and Kelly to know I’m just here for you both?
Sigh.
We wuves ya, big boy…! *g*
I want to see Sherlock
I’ll be working New Years…First time in a decade. You know the ‘oughts sucked when there wasn’t a gig or a session to be played for 10 years. I blame Bush, of course.
;>)
Lurvs ya, ya big mook.
We did on Christmas Day! Robert Downey JR. was wonderful!
Of course!
Of course I have to see Brigit Jones Diary.
Good to hear.. love RD Jr.
*stillscurryingthruwebsterformook*
All I got is Mookie, from Babalon 5.
And I’m not LIKIN that referent . . . but I like that series!
Yer not Molinari, but yer close . . . just not sleazy enuff, I’m afraid to say.
*G*
Wassa Mook?
I’ve learned, too much love can be a bad, bad thing . . . lol
*waves*
I’ll be at home with Ms. ET and maybe ET Jr who is up for the holidays from Humboldt State. Seriously trying to write as much music as I can over the holidays. We had a huge party yesterday – our 30th wedding anniversary. Among lotsa other things, these documents changed hands.
I used to play in big band jazz groups around Anchorage on New Years Eve. Sometimes they were 7-hour gigs. I haven’t gotten a call to play by any of those groups since I wrote this, though.
Opal Fly and the Swatters are sweet, ES.
What kind of work, db?
Jeebus Gawd, those Palins are just a bunch of wieners.
ES ! Firedawgs !
I’ll be raising a toast to y’all when we ring in the New Year.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mookie_Wilson
Big Mook!!
I was wondering if you were on Todd’s list.
Bwahahaha … y’all were tearing it up downstairs !
Petrocelli!!!
Are you staying warm?
Happy Anniversary, ET…! *G*
I see that Shannyn’s name was #1…! ;-)
PETRO!
you do them more justice than they may deserve…
I learn so much here at the Fire of Dog of Lake.
buns with no wieners?
Happy anniversary to you both.
*Hic* … yesshh !
They find it easier and more convenient to mostly pick on women in AK. Not quite sure why Dennis Zaki made the list, except that he came up with the term “iceberg.”
Dood…! …would moi ever do such a thang…? *g*
Happy Anniversary Sir and to Mrs. Munger as well !
Ahh, but you, Rose Petal McC, have shown me so much on the road to prose, much less poetry.
*bows*
(And yes the martinis are kicking in, but OK! Lurvs me some Mary Mac!)
Thanks, ES. I still can’t believe I’ve been so lucky.
I’m reading a great book called The Help by Kathryin Stockett. I had to stop at a very important point and was just praying that so-and-so wouldn’t find out about something that had happened…I was frantic, for the safety of characters in a book.
{{{{Petrocelli}}}}
Hopefully, the next 30 years will go as well.
If only I wasn’t divorced but still engaged.
So, we’re headed to a blue new year and moon . . . and I was thinkin of a heavy moment at a fest this fall.
A song just hit me hard, and it’s now in my camp jam book . . . courtesy from a fellow camp mate lady who nailed it. Long and mournful.
Dylan, But It’s A Trad Tune, With Other Verses, And A Chorus. LOVE This Song. Dylan, in ’62, By Dawg, Mournful
And for some reason, that led me to another fav folkie of long ago, and HIS treatsie to SE Asia During The Conflict. You Kids Are Killin Me, Still
*G*
Ahh, but I’m gay, and my pet is named “Belch.”
Let us flirt, but o so gently me darling…
[HAHAHAHAHA!]
Eureka, that first track is a ball!
Happy New Year!
I know you are gay, honey. Don’t make no never mind to me.
THAT Mook! A switch hitter, no less . . . lol
Music…A little schmaltz, a little disco, a smattering of jazz. I was brought out of ‘retirement’, in a way.
…And a most happy anniversary to ET and spouse.
;>)
LOL … that’s when you know it is a great Book and a great Author.
I’m sure it will. Once you’re done all those compositions, please visit Toronto and play some for us.
Lemme offer a congratulatory note to the two of yas, also . . .
We hit our 25th in June . . .
And thanks for all you do, to keep us informed . . . make music, kiss yer bride, live life large, hoss.
*G*
((Petro!))
I love how you talk after you get back from a New Orleans visit.
They are a lot of fun.. and that vid is just them warming up pre-show on a bus.
Happy new year, amigo.
But, I’m still wantin’ you to flirt!
You got that word thing going on!
Hey everyone, Happy New Year.
-G
Just wanted to drive by to say I loved the videos, Eureka Springs.
Dood !
Happy New Year, Buddy !
Sometimes I think Jane ought to just change the name to FIRE!
Nice, very nice… X2
Happy new year, Greg..)
Darkblack, Larue & Petrocelli,
Awesome!
This blog is the place at which I first began commenting regularly – back in 2005. I posted a comment here, thinking, “I’m out of my league among so many brilliant, well-informed commenters.” But Jane commented back, welcoming me. In a sense, her warm welcome changed my life as positively as any other single event I’ve experienced.
Since starting my own blog, I’ve missed being able to spend as much time with my late night and late late night friends as I’d like.
So many cool friends here.
Petro, Eureka, LooHoo, ET and all.
One wonders if Pat Buchanan ought to worry about withhodling painkillers from Rush Limbaugh.
-G
Thanks Cujo! HNY!
How sweet. Hugs to Mrs. Teller. Tell her we appreciate all of the time you share with us.
Careful now, according to many at DKos, Jane is a 4-letter word …
… cuz, you know, someone who is fighting for their best interests must be a bad person.
Not to worry, the fucker is resting comfortably this evening.
Notice just how far ol’ Rush kept his new fiance from the Dominican Republic?
I was thinking about you and Ron this afternoon. That’s got to be the weirdest damn situation. How’s it going, and what’s the strangest?
LOL And some folks used to call Naderites purists. /s The Obama Rahm protection racket blows them away.
One More From An Incredible Series Of Live Bob In ’62, In Greenwich Village, When It Was All Just Pouring Down Music Insane
They were all there . . . Van Ronk, Dylan, Paxton, Ochs, Seegar, Ginsburg, Corso, Andy Warhol, John Cage, Yoko Ono, Yvonne Rainer, Lanford Wilson, Sam Shepard, Brian de Palma, Harvey Keitel, Kate Millet, and Claes Oldenburg.
Odetta, John Lee Hooker, Mary Travers and friends, Rosalie Sorells, Guthrie himself (Woodie), Buffy Sainte-Marie, Judy Collins, Tom Rush, Fred Neil, Gordon Lightfoot, Billy Ed Wheeler, John Denver, Arlo Guthrie, John Hartford.
They all came thru Greenwich Village, in the early 60′s . . . heroes one and all . . . synergy.
Wow! Good for you. An artist all around!
*heh* The annual year-end reunion of all the old time regulars has commenced…! *g* Hauoli Makahiki Hou…!!!
Bless ya, it’s hard to catch yer ears what with all you do and know . . .
I bow . . .
Hey, Greg. Gotta say, I love the way you get out and about and sneak in with your smart-ass remarks!
♪♫♪♫Smart ass can be a good thing.♪♫♪♫
Happy new years eve morning pups — and congrats ET.
case. in. point.
I do believe I’m one of ‘em, aren’t you too, ES…? *g*
Fire is a four-letter word…
It really is instructive to apprehend the tribal divisions – Lockstep message conformity masking twisted, illicit desires on the one hand…And on the other, a whirling, colliding chaos of subjective interests projected on the casual and often unwilling bystander.
The entertainment value simply can’t be overstated.
;>)
The Mook in action. One of the most famous plays in World Series history.

2010 will be better than 2009, if the Progressives can unite and drive America to the left. If they continue to fight each other, 2010 will see America take a sharp right turn …
I don’t speak the lingo, but I hear your smiles, hoss . . .
I was trying to recall when I first came in here . . . think it was during the Libby Live Blogging.
In and out them daze . . . and in the past two years or more, in more, all the time.
Now, I can’t go to many other blogs and get better in depth reads of issues, or even breaking news analysis.
That’s MY mark for value, and sympatico . . . not to MENTION the quality of the COMMENTS, aside from the postings . . . it’s pure porcine bliss for this hog news needer . . . . *G*
Aloha, CT!
Conscience Voting! Weird!
So say some. Bizarre to me if you don’t vote your conscience.
I’m just funky that way.
When the Dem ticket just wont do…)
smart assed
Happy happy, Sunny…)
In a way, Darkblack, you could be describing Sarah Palin’s effect on some people. Jane is the complete opposite of Palin.
They Spell Dat FIWER!
To bad our reps aren’t funky that way.
I wear it as a badge of honor… Damn it…! ;-)
I know what you mean. I hate this! And I’ll admit to ping-ponging around on a lot of issues right now. Stressful, this.
I’m sorry, I’m SURE you meant Buckner’s greatest moment in history, along with the Bo Sox.
Mookie was but a mere participant . . *G*
Truth.
I’d be inclined to agree, ET. Low, grifterish cunning is no substitute for intelligence, no matter how craftily disguised as gee-whiz just-folks mumbo-pocus.
;>)
Who are you calling smart ass? lmao
What, now we are all political again?
Bring back the music thread . . . or if ya wanna go political, start something.
I could stay up all night . . . *G*
(ok, lied, an hour more)
RGB
What does Imao mean?
Billy Buck just returned to Fenway Park for the first time in 23 years. Some forget that wasn’t the deciding game of the series. As a Met fan, I remember it well.
Laughing my ass off. lmao
Oh, I thought you were calling yourself that.
laughing my ass off
I do like “mumbo-pocus.” Is that yours?
Heh. I’m working on a Seminal Post; you busted me.
About what?
Sshh… No baseball talk outside of the season if RBG is around…! ;-)
Hey ET, thanks for the neat comment on my drones diary. Imagine putting Advanced Precision Kill Weapons Systems to music!
RBG is always around…)
Well I came up with hocus-jumbo!
-G
ET with Brian Eno….. and maybe John Cale.
That play SO defined the series! *G*
I knew that. jeez!
Nah, but thanks for the hi five . . . whatcha workin on . .
Frank Zappa created that portmanteau as a description of the Religious Right, to the best of my knowledge. Of course, as the Maestro once purportedly said…
;>)
I’m conking my head.
Wasn’t he a senator from Mississippi?
;>)
Ooh… Is it in the Seminal, ww…?
Actually, it is pretty fucking scary, and hard to work through.
One thing I’m doing is inverting the theme to “God Bless America.” If you play it upside down, it makes a freakish, minor mode theme that Shostakovich might have used to describe Sobibor.
Can’t find The Dead Doin This . . . Camp Jam Tune, But NO One Sangs Like Marty Did
About “Family” and Working Across Ideological Lines.
This whole “Working with Norquist Makes You A Traitor” bullshit is just stupid to me, cause, HELLO, I don’t think there’s one entirely pure ideological family out there.
How nice for those who have one, but, I’m just saying, erm, that ain’t the daily grind for most progressives.
I figured you did.
Me too.
Nite all. Got to rest up for tomorrow’s festivities.
It’s starting to piss me off too.
Jane goes after the most powerful man in the universe by attacking his key lieutenant, and the Kossacks rise up in righteous indignation screaming “How dare she!”
And there was yet another Dkos diary on Monday declaring that “Barack Obama is the kindest, warmest, bravest, most wonderful human being ever to exist in this universe.” YUCK!
So glad someone is writing about that.
I just keep thinking we have to do something we’ve not tried before because obviously our strategy isn’t producing positive results. The people that think we should continue to trust people that really couldn’t give a rats ass about this country are mind boggling… Wish they would go back to their playpen and let the adults work out solutions.
Not since Reagan was elected, as Gov of CA, and then Pres.
Time for tryin something brand new . . . yes.
There are all kind of people writing about it over at Dkos. And you should see the shit they write.
Exactly!
Night Sunny, have fun.
Think I’ll join you, Sunny. Happy New Year, all!
I actually read a few diaries in the beginning of this latest meltdown. Stunning… it really seems like a few paid operatives are leading the sheep off a cliff over there. But what do I know?
I know all those. My favorite Stravinsky quote I used recently – at my mom’s 91st birthday party, was one Stravinsky made in his 80s. He said, “You know you’re getting really old when the funeral invitations stop,”
Happy New Year Sunny.
Aloha, Sunny…!
Jane wants to attack the OVERLORDS who are running this country, and the Obamistas want to lick up whatever scraps fall of their tables. “How dare she?”
HNY emerson!
Here’s a hint. Video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GRGmZe24Wc
Yes, coming together around a common cause doesn’t mean one has to pick out china patterns together at Macy’s. The sorts of circular firing squads I’m seeing now in the prog community is the result of almost a decade of stifled frustrations that the Obama victory gave the lift to, like uncorking a shaken champagne bottle…Now there’s froth and bubbling spew everywhere.
;>)
I’ve toyed with that thought, but if that’s the case, they must be using a lot of sockpuppet aliases.
Aloha, emerson…!
Ah say, go away boy, ya bother me.
-Foghorn Heflin
Night all.
Amen, dood…! ;-)
After the shit storm that went on over here for two days last week, I wouldn’t think of going over there. I’d have a stroke.
Yep, Hello Choir . . .
There’s some good ones in Memories and Commentary, with Robert Craft, also – I’ll have to transcribe some one of these days, in order to attempt staying mildly ‘hip’.
;>)
Aloha, G…!
Some of those 400 to 1200 comment threads… half a dozen folks make up 20 to 50 percent of the comments.
Not as many as you might think needed to lead the pack-think.
But I really don’t get over there often anymore. Saw this coming post pres primary. Can’t criticize Obama or many a “moderates” over there, no matter how hard the facts may be.
When I ran across the press release for that missile and its Orwellian name, I had to draw attention to it. But you’re going beyond anything I can concieve of. Very, very cool.
“That boy just ain’t right . .”
Ah say, ah say, sohn . . . *G*
My fav of all time . . . da Foghorn, Dawg, Chicken Little . . .
Night Greg… happy happy
Same crap at HuffPo – a few ‘style leaders’ running up the frequent poster points on juicy topics there too.
But their tone gets so rabid. The names that they call Jane are hysterical. One this morning was “Larry-Johnson-like fruitcake.” Wow! Heavy stuff.
My guess is, the PTB picked Kos, for some reason, as the center of the blogosphere, and spend most of their money there, to put forth the bs of the PTB.
I’m not sure if that makes the PTB smart, or buck ass nekkid stupid as shit.
Either way, the PTB made their investment to counter the left blogosphere . . . and picked Kos.
Rhanks!
Gotta get back to writing a post on why what Jane is doing re the veal pen, and finding similarities between what the disenfranchised voters across the spectra really want in the lower 48, might translate to in Alaska.
We’ve got a lot of teabaggers up here. Not so many firedoglake pups, though.
I hate fruitcake. /s
Very nice. Thanks.
I can’t imagine what he thinks of all this. Dosn’t seem like his style at all.
That comparison was made twice, by the same person. I can’t compute the connection – Frankly, Johnson would have had to throw Clinton over the side during the Democratic primary while fully and unashamedly embracing Obama (but no tongues!) for it to have made any sense.
;>)
Did you see the number I did on your neighbor’s award-winning entry in the Lie-of-the-year competition? http://seminal.firedoglake.com/diary/20742
NO!
Markos is one thing. The “Community Rating System” there is another. The “Rulz” people there are nuts. The “Reason” people there are just fine.
Nope, it’s not, it’s way beyond him and his control is my guess . . . When the PTB want to control, they do.
Not sure what part of No ya mean . . . . I’m sayin Kos hisself was forced to do what he’s doin . . . and there’s money BUYING the privilege to do so, on his site, without his approval but he’s helpless to say no.
Force, coercion, how the messengers and the mediums are ALWAYS forced to kowtow.
Nuttin new, hoss . .
I like the tea baggers in that they realize they getting screwed. But following people like Limbaugh and Palin, they think its the government the WILL BE running the death panels rather than realizing that is the corporations that ARE NOW running death panels that are killing 45,000 Americans per year.
Meanwhile the Kossacks are sitting on the sidelines snickering.
Well, its time for me to sort through my vast hat collection… and prepare for a trip to the big city/dance.
Good night firedogs…
Happy New Year!
I agree that there are a whole lot of excellent people there. And, I gratefully learn a lot from them. But, wow; those others!
G’nite ES, and Happy New Year.
It’s hard for them to shed that role…They (along with very many others) got used to it during two highly marginalizing Bush administrations, and not everyone has read the new rule book. Or written it, for that matter.
;>)
heh… I found FDL through dKos… and I never looked back…! ;-)
Amazed today to read the pieces she put up. The complex facts she manipulates so nicely, the people she gets to write here and the political engineering are fascinating.
Aloha, ES…! HNY…!
Keep the brim straight and the shiny side up, ES.
:)
And as for me…Since I will be spending my next evening in a french restaurant of iniquity banging out warbly pop treacle for drunken revelers, I’ll wish you all a splendid evening and a happy, prosperous New Year now.
Ta ta, and don’t do anything that Petrocelli wouldn’t. Except for…that.
;>)
*heh* Hauoli Makahiki Hou, DB…! *g*
Wig, what is it you are adding to the obvious, and what is it you add to a solution?
We KNOW what the baggers say and think.
We KNOW what Limpballs and Paled think.
We KNOW what they say and what the MSM thinks of them.
We KNOW the corporations are out to gut and get us.
We KNOW HCR is a sold out deal to the corps.
We KNOW people are dying, and more will, with the status quo, with the reform as is.
We also know Kossacks snicker, but I hardly see what they have to do with the KNOW’S I’ve posited.
They don’t control messages, they don’t control media, they don’t control senators or house reps, they don’t even control their bladders, but they DO get paid to do what they do.
In the long run, what do they actually INFLUENCE and CHANGE, for the betterment of the status quo, the right wing, or anyone who pays them?
They exist solely to try and discredit the left.
Nothing more, nothing less.
And they are not really so good at that, are they?
All they do is to reinforce the status quo, the right wing to some extent, and they don’t change one single fucking vote for the masses or in the Senate or The House.
Do NOT give them any power they don’t have. They are paid for propaganda and as such, are failing to change the wills and voices of the masses. The masses are pissed! *G*
*G*
Heh, funny. I’m part of this bluegrass org that’s national and CA based. I can’t even recall a singular reason I fell in love with the forms of the grass.
And I can’t recall how it was I came to FDL, long ago . . . I’m useless as a testimonial!!! *G*
May all yer pickin thump on the beat that’s needed and thanks for all you keep us sane with!!!
Night, ES. Have fun tonight!
Tap Tap Tap?
Sigh, I show up and CT and Kelly disappear upon the peaks of their desires . .
Sigh.
*G*
…They are paid for propaganda …
Never will those who wage war tire of deception.
-Sun Tzu
It’s a marvel.
And thise who wage Peace…will they mever deceive. Exposing the deception is what happens at the lake. Larue’s 192.
Nope! I’m just writing/drafting subversive shit on me own little pc.
Calm down. Eat some ham, you charming bastard. :)
Made an amazing Butternut squash soup tonight. Little ginger, little hot curry, sea salt and walnuts. Very thick a good base to diverge from.
12th session of hot yoga this afternoon exploring what the human bod can do.
Got utside and chatted up my new actor/singer friend. I called her attention to the moon through the leafless tree…totally ZEN moment. They are having a New Years session at 11pm. That is gung ho.
We will with a little bit of luck make our year better.
NYE cops night out.
Well then, may all yer ham be smoked black forest, and may you and CT enjoy moments of your lives the rest of us have NO business asking about . . .
And may them moments be glorious . .
*G*
I’m outta here . . . thanks pups one and all.
Bigbrother, I think you paid me some courtesy and props, and I thank you for that if I’m right.
Tomorrow, The Sun Also Rises . . . *G* all y’all . . .
And those who wage Peace…will they never deceive. Exposing the deception is what happens at the lake. Larue’s 192.
There corrected CT’s comments are often profound.
You add a lot to this table Larue no doubt your passion and your musical knowledge are very interesting. My first experience with Blue Grass was in the moonshine area of Ferrum VA in a small back woods shack where they stood and played and passed the white lightening.
