Nahant… 8-P
yup — ya got it nahant — now watch the toon (laughing)
aloha ct how’s paradise tonight?
Suze! Pups!
ndfg! how’s your eye?
A positively frigid 72 degrees…! Bust out the flannels already…! ;-)
(Ducking…)
dood you are so lucky i don’t have any snow with which to make a snowball…
me neither.. thank fucking dog… I like to see my Snow run down the gutter!
Aloha, M’dear…! *g*
would chuck todd would call snow in the san francisco bay area not news?
’bout the same … how’s the mouth feeling?
Hi Suzanne , you can have some of my snow for your snowballs
finally seem to have the gagging thing under control (knocking on wood). have been wearing them enough today to have a couple sore spots that i’m going to direct his attention to monday.
thanks bbugs — good to see ya again
hey ct ***thwack***
Funny that he’s over here proclaiming that…! ;-)
Perfect cartooney, Suz! You the master.
*heh* Ya missed me…! 8-P
sounds like ya got a new set of choppers
thanks loohoo — its seemed like a boxing match around here lately (laughing) in addition to it being boxing day. seemed to be the one for tonight.
how’s socal tonight?
uppers only. its been a rough transition…
Having been de-pantsed by Napolitano-Pixie, Dixie, Jinks and Kapow are now free to board the airplane.
Hiya Suz! Good toon.
hey emerson — glad ya liked it. how’s the east bay tonight?
I wonder if your gums are healed enough to start making adjustments yet. Gotta be getting hungry for real food by now though!
aloha! wish i was enjoying some of your weather. I’d have to take the slow boat tho, still no air travel because of yet another medical air bubble in eye.
I won’t see 72 degrees until April at the earliest.
Tell me, what is it like, I’ve forgotten ?
still healing — that’s where the sore spots are. not ready for real food yet…. and still having trouble talking with them. but… i am getting more used to the feel of them — not quite as bad as it was at first.
Totally boxing day.
It’s cool enough that I have to crank up the heat to 67. Looks like we may be getting even more precious rain!
Oh dear, ndfg. So sorry to hear that. What is causing the bubbles?
Wet and dreary. I’m countering with a fire and booze. The longer the game goes on, the better my chances of winning.
Dayam, I’ve been an expat Canuck too long…! I forgot that it’s Boxing Day…! ;-)
I broke an upper bicuspid tonite at work ,while eating a rather crisp piece of bacon.
It”s not hurting much right now ,which is good ,Gonna have to come out though.
I’ll be doing the false ones soon now , most of my real ones are shot
ouch dood. i did an upper bicuspid several years ago biting into a piece of bread. too broken to cap?
uh.. sharks already won dood…
what game?
Biting into a piece of bread??? Dang, your teeth were delicate!
Another…? I thought you just had another put in from the initial surgery…? 8-(
Why, the weather game.
the full bands around each tooth braces i had when i was a kid damaged the enamel of my teeth
yup broke down the middle the two halves are there , just split right in half . Prolly need root canal and crown and I haven’t had much luck with those having lost three root canal teeth due to breakage. I guess I’ll just have it pulled
Alright, Loo Hoo, whatcha drinking…? ;-)
crap
Hey Suz, and pups.
Just a quick driveby, wanted to know Suz if you got a reply back from that wonderful letter?
When I sent mine in, I even checked that box (reply requested or whatever the hell the damned thing said), and I haven’t heard anything.
But can’t believe they ignored yours too. Have you heard anything at all?
Dam, I had my money on the Jets…MY NY Jets have to play Peyton tomorrow.
It’s already been a tough season.
hey ofguy — good to see ya again. yes, i finally did… i’ll have a post up next week about it….. gonna take me some time to channel my anger into something that will resemble polite discourse.
??????????????
jets… ughh.. pats.. all the way.
niners are already out of it..
when you are a jet
I’ve had regular dental all my life , my mother was a stickler when it came to the dentist. Went every 6 months for cleanings . I’ve always had soft teeth tend to break easy , just bad genes I suppose LOL
Polite is not necessary, M’dear…! ;-)
I kept my reply from Dear President. Haven’t looked at it recently but recall that it was all wordy and smooth and said about nothing. I had to take a shower.
hey dearie…. nice to see ya — how’s those twin grandbabies?
at this point my post would be nothing but *** with modnote cautions
Hey Nahant , how’s it going
Heh… Self-Modded at that…! Bwahahaha…! ;-)
Oh boy. That bad huh?
Maybe it’s good they didn’t reply to me then. I might’ve had the Secret Service on my fucking front porch.
Well, can’t wait to read next week. I’ll try to check in. Been losing interest in the recent threads as they seem to be full of ….. boy, I wanna say idiots, but that’s mean. I dunno, lot of folks posting on FDL these days that are a slice or two short of loaf, IMO. Don’t know how else to put it. Seem as delusional over Obama as the dittoheads did over Bush. Fucking shame.
Anyway, would dearly love to read your response (even if it’s uncivil, LOL, I actually prefer honesty).
Hope you, yours, and all firepups have a wonderful, joyous, and SAFE holiday season.
Peace.
Joe
OldFatGuy
you be up late billy!!
How ya doing?
So many familiar faces. Good to see you all.
CTuttle… Thanks for rubbing some beach sand in my nostalgic eye tonight. :)
J-E-T-S! Jets, Jets, Jets!! I’d like another shot at those Patsies, Nahant.
thanks ofguyt — we do try to keep the waters calm here esp at nite. drop by anytime….
…..snowball zings thru the air….wacks CTuttle on the back…..egregious laughter from afar.
evening, all
when i lost my dental insurance i became even more fastidious about cleaning and flossing etc. i so hear ya about having bad genes or something…
back at ya ofg… and I agree it has been crazy around here during the days… and some are down right irritating to say the least… what happened???
worked with the kids tnite , we got a few who aren’t able to go home for the holidays
Had a good night , the kids were in good spirits considering
lets just say that i got in touch with my inner redheaded irishwoman.
The baby-boys are wonderful — and they got through the Bozeman Airport in good spirits…..tho they couldn’t seem to figure out why I was peeling their shoes & jackets off! Little planes are good for little people, though — the plane was full of kids who all fell asleep once the humming started. It’s getting on the plane that’s the hard part. TSA sucks.
Today’s Jets are the real, real Westside story. All the way to the Jersey Meadowlands.
About 20 minutes from where I grew up.
where ya at now nate? still in ca or back in hawaii? i’ve lost track of ya dood :)
the surgeon is causing the air bubbles … the first one he put in in mid-september to hold the surgery in place for the retinal tear/detachment at the top of my eye. That dispersed by end of october. The second one was put in on dec 4 … alas when the vitrectomy was done on my eye, they discovered a new tear and partial detachment hiding under the sludge at the bottom of my eye. So they had to put in a full air bubble to hold surgery at bottom of eye in place. That all healed up fine, now its a matter of waiting for this one to disperse to see how much vision i have left.
HAHAHAHAHA thanks eg
lol… i bet you do … keep dreaming…
hey ppd — how’s the south south bay tonight?
Well, I do have Air Force two sitting on Hilo’s tarmac, a mere 1/4 of a mile away…! ;-)
you do good work billy and i am sure they do appreciate your concern for them.
If fact I’m still downloading a movie for one of the guys right now. We didn’t realize it took 6 or 7 hours to download a movie. Gonna put it in his Ipod when I work again
that is totally cool bbugs… a surprise?
thanks
raining off and on most of the day; no complaints though, we need the water
Hey,ndfg, my sister has the same condition and had the bubble thing. She’s doing better. Had to have catarack surgery recently and seems to be coming along okay. Hope your results with the bubble-thingy are also good.
Why thank you Ma’am…! Didn’t even see it coming…! 8-P
No something he bought on itunes , he and i started downloading at it 7 pm and it still has about 8 minutes to go
You seem to have forgotten the 2nd game if the season, Nahant. As I recall, the patsies lost that one to the Jets, just as they lost the last game last year to …who was that?…Oh yeah-the Jets…
it was so dry when i was down there in july — have gotten spoiled by the rain up here keeping everything so green year round.
God bless, NDFG…! *g*
does that mean you poof in 8 minutes dood?
Oh. My niece actually lost her four front top teeth when she was 12. Screwed on the freaking braces too tight.
Sorry you had a huge bummer too.
LOL Ya actually about 5 minutes now
I’ll always take a Jack.!!
sooo
I’m a Pats fan too !
Not wise to pick on my Pats !!
when we were kids that is just how they did things. luckily my girls had the brackets but not the bands when they had their braces and the orthodontist would check their teeth to make sure the enamel was ok.
I just recently got the whole works, upper and lower, and I sure do feel for you.
I see steam when you’re thinking about it.
sorry.. that highly trained professional observer thang was supposed to be turned off
how’s the transition been for ya margot?
Hey ndfg, I’m pulling for you grrrl!
Do you have strong fingernails?
One Jack… Straight up…! Incoming………! *g*
it’s getting greener, but we drove over San Luis Reservoir last week, and it’s nearly empty
showed up on 12/23 — stephanie’s birthday — and i was too pissed to read beyond the first paragraph. haven’t wanted to really get into it and fork up my holiday good vibe that i have going. i’m thinking it would be perfect to do friday new years day. start the new year off with a good kick in the pants.
Hi peeps – drive by!
Hope you’re all rocking! I am. Have a house full of people. You all have been in my thoughts.
Kelly
*poof!*
Hard at first. Better just lately. Takes awhile to learn what to do, what not to do, etc.
jeez…. bet lexington is pretty empty too then. dang
hey and g’nite kelly c
Heh, My better-half gets pissed when I refer to ‘em as the Patsies…! It drives her Mass-ass bonkers…! ;-)
You’ll probably never lose that !
I would think you’d always have that eye for things
i think i’m still in the hard at first but starting to slide into the getting better phase. i keep telling myself that it’s only been two weeks and not to expect too much but….
been able to turn off a lot and a lot easier than i had thought it would be. i think i was ready to retire when i did. helped not having who i was wrapped up in what i did for a living.
nope those rip too , gotta keep ‘em trimmed or the will tear.
Oh, my dear ndfg. That’s gotta be scary. I’m keeping my fingers (and toes, as Suz says) crossed for you.
I’m hoping all’s well by Valentine’s Day. What’s the doc say?
sleep tight and don’t let the bed bugs bite !
Hey! For real? Cool.
lexington is a drop in the bucket compared with San Luis — it looks like it’s down over 50 feet. Of course, the water in that reservoir is pumped up from the forebay delta down below.
sleep tight and don’t let the bed billy bugs bite !
fixed…
i used to see lex when i commuted back and forth to work. and saw san luis rey a couple times a year when i headed down to palm springs to visit my mom. ya know its bad when both of those have waterlines way way down below the wave line.
I has taken me almost 2 months now to feel really comfortable with them, so don’t feel bad and don’t be hard on yourself. You’re doing fine.
hey nahant
thanks margot. that helps a lot. tell me — can ya talk with em yet? i whistle with my esses
I root for the pats every time they play in London. *g*
Actually in So. Cal Suzanne. Never thought I would have wound up back down here. It’s just HQ though as half my time is spent on the road around western north america. It’s a nice crisp 45° night here in Burbank.
the central valley water situation is critical
Ya that’s good i think some folks let the job define them , and that would sure make it a lot harder to let go
That reminds me of a friend of mine, nearly 30 years on the job and never changed him one bit, hell of a nice guy
*Thanks* And here’s a mai tai for you. (multiple umbrellas)!
i used to have kin in burbank. i would not have thought socal — how did ya end up down there from norcal (maybe i shouldn’t ask so don’t answer if ya don’t wanna)
We saw it on the front page of our daily rag and went and saw it from behind the fence line… It’s got bubbles sprouting out all over the 747…! ;-)
hey!! are ya getting wet??
it has been pouring off and on since 4:30 pm.. sometime real hard making the tv needing to be turned up… oh and we just had thunder and lightening… just like back in Mass…
Great idea. (Advertise it during the day via your email and facebood friends and on the front page!)
And, dangit Suz? You got the #100 again. *congrats*
ya gotta control the job and not let the job control you. when i got off work, i spent my first 30 minutes at home destressing with some quiet ‘suzanne time’. my girls knew that unless someone was bleeding to not disturb me.
i tried to leave work at work — found it easier to not get so stressed when not at work when i did.
crap.. i’m sorry — see i only get it when i’m not trying
just like back in Mass…
What you don’t get thunder storms out there ?
goes to nahant at 126
i’ll do that when it goes up loohoo — thanks
These days, #800 is the prize…! ;-)
*sigh* i’ll never reach that one… jane has set the bar too high (laughing)
Hey nahant — thunder and lightning. That’s a special treat on the peninsula, eh
bubbles? what kinda bubbles ct?
sorry to hear you had to deal with cataracts, my dad had surgeries on both his eyes, it helped a lot. A side effect of the “shop-vac” surgery i had (purpose: clean all the white blood cell crud out of my eye) is cataracts – and the air bubble will make it worse. so i will have to have cataract surgery, and then we will finally know if i’ll have usable vision in this eye *fingers & toes crossed that i don’t get any more retinal tears or detachments*
*fingers and toes crossed and a prayer said*
No big secret. Just following a professional path that moved me up fast. Wound up down here because the company’s based down here and I run the west for’em. Wrestled with the locale for a bit but gave in because of the opportunity. After all, I never really set out to have my blogging pay the bills (some really generous friends and fans excluded of course :)
Once I got down here I realized that this part of LA was quite appealing to me. I’ll probably be down here another few years as I move closer to my grand plan of owning a bit of land in the pacific northwest.
So do half of the bobble heads.
(Can’t find the video of Chuck Todd showing Obama bobble heads.) He was collecting them for everyone in the studio!
Large protrusions from odd places on a 747… I tried to link to my rag’s pic, but, they’re an AP rag…! 8-(
Hey Suz! Great toon! Always am still confused with that and Tom N Jerry . . . but love both!
Too much gone by to catch up to, but I haven’t recieved replies to my recent Prez, Boxer and SciFi emails. They were all about the same regarding the sell out of HCR.
On we hope, on we fight . . . don’t matter if we lose so much right now (or ever) as it DOES matter if we ever stop fighting. It’s a long haul, sometimes the wins and losses are less than the will to fight, which is what causes the PRESSURE for change, and a win here and there . . . .
home destressing with some quiet ’suzanne time’
oh so important to teach the kids you haveta have that time! And girls are the hardest to get them to understand.. especially when after ya gotta cook dinner for six…
sweet — i gotta say i love living on the north oregon coast.
they learned it was easier to give me 30 than to deal with grumpy mom all night.
not Often and when we do I love it… Mother Nature at her best !!
hey larue — you getting any of that rain the bay area is getting?
like plexiglass communications bubbles or gun turret bubbles?
Well enjoy a rare treat !
Raining here too ,but it’s only about 36 degrees.
Wanna trade ?
yup but girls just seem to need ya more than the boys do and are way more Demanding about everything… just saying.. at least that what I went through..
There’s a huge protrusion on top of the typical 747 protrusion above the pilots’ to start…! ;-)
You will have email in just a bit.
Communications, radars, security devices, defensive and offensive weapons systems I’d guess . . . mostly. *G*
both grew up with me working at the pd. joined when jen was 3 and steph was born after i had been on the job for 8 years. they didn’t know any better (laughing) it was just what mom did when she got home from work
Not a phreakin drop, and our water sheds and mountains need it badly.
No guns, maybe lasers . . . *G*
It’s some kind of gorgeous up there but I kinda want to be a bit more inland while still having the luxury of a quiet coastline nearby. San Juan islands in WA have always appealed to me. I want to spend quiet days sailing in calm waters. The northern OR coastline is full of raw natural beauty. But that kind of raw nature on the open sea takes a real sailor and these days I’m just a pretend one. :)
Sure do love the weather up around those parts though. As Warren Miller once described it in one of his films, “Up there you catch quick breaths of air so clear it makes your brain hurt.”
there’s some moisture out in the pacific trying to move up from norcal area to oregon and if it gets here its gonna cause freezing rain. hope it heads your way instead larue
Like AWACS?
no pictures ??? come on CT you Can do better than that! I mean you could see it through the freaking fence and no pictures????
sheesh..
Anywhere along the Puget Sound . .. *G* God’s country.
Suz! Another greatly restored Toon!
Wow, wiki’s AF-1 and AF-2 are not accurate pixs…!
hey newton — how ya doing? twas the perfect toon for tonight.
Fine. Staying out of the T & L and downpour outside.
I think it went to 300 the other night. I had to give up earlier than that though.
i’ve toyed with the idea of along the puget sound. i like both washington and oregon states — although i’ve not spent any time in seattle other than a drive through a few years ago.
Thanks for the toon Suzanne.
Gotta hit the hay
Have a good night everyone !
that’s true — jane’s posts have been daytime posts not nightime ones. still don’t think i’ll ever have as many comments on one of my threads as jane gets on hers. gosh she can write!
g’nite bbugs
Nate, good to see you again!
newt!!
You’re getting similarly hammered, I guess. Again with the lightning strikes.
The traffic’s miserable around Seattle these days and getting worse. Infrastructure issues are everywhere but so’s just about every other state. Other than that, the city’s still a gem. I’ve been up there a lot lately. Spent several trips out to the MS campus and it’s always fun to take extra days and go on drives and long walks.
I’ve spent some time in Spokane as well and gotta say that it’s a beautiful city in the summertime. Too much of the white stuff in winter time for me though.
g’nite billy..stay warm back there..
ok, eye drops dropped, done playing online scrabble with my baby sister (she regularly kicks my ass, the little brat) and now it’s time to “g’thud”
thanks for all the well-wishes Pups! g’night ….
seattle traffic was horrible when i was up there the year i retired. i’ve grown to live portland — how can ya not like a town that proclaims ‘keep portland weird’ :) but i don’t wanna live in a city — just close enough to one that i can venture in when i wanna. i’m an hour and a half from portland so i’m really pushing that limit out here but the view is gorgeous.
g’nite ndfg
Hi LooHoo. It’s good to see everyone. I de-lurked earlier today and mentioned then that I’m always around. FDL has been daily reading for me for nigh on four years now. Just do major data downloads usually and read as many good posts as I can. The thunder of late around here has sparked a pilot lighting for me though and just had to take an hour to say hi and chat a bit.
Aloha, NDFG…! Sleep tight…! *g*
“g’thud” back at ya nfg!!
nite billybugs!
Nice to see you again, Nate.
Knockin at the door again
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ki2VMALEPc0
am glad to see ya again dood. de-lurk often :)
just as relevant today…
Hi newton.
Aloha CTuttle. Saying that makes me miss the days I used to actually say it with aloha. It just doesn’t ring as true when you’re wearing a fleece coat to stay warm.
Hey Newton
Hey Margot
time to hit the hay. “g’thud” Pups
g’thud nahant
*heh* An Aloha shirt is the proper attire…! ;-)
nite you guys
It’s not for lack of desire. Seriously it’s mostly due to lack of available time. It’s difficult to describe the tempo I keep these days. It’s why I couldn’t help myself but to delurk in the previous post about the lameass who tried light himself on fire aboard the NW flight yesterday. I spend 30 hours a month on planes these days and have been feeling all day how Thers broke it down so eloquently in that post.
Aloha, nahant…!
oh crap — i’m so sorry to hear that nate
My choice Suz… And a good one. I’ll fill you in soon. Right now I have to run for someone special waiting. :)
g’nite nate
Night, sleepers. Don’t forget to brush.
Man, Nate better tell us what’s up. Sounds like a love-life issue to me.
look who got the 200 loohoo
Aloha Oe, Nate…!
Hey! I got #200#!
Whoo Hoo! Why is this fun for me?
yay loohoo!
Well, now that I’ve avoided the curse of #200, I guess I can comment. Hi everyone.
hey cujo — how’s seattle tonight?
Nice job, Loo Hoo!
We have no life…? ;-)
Ahhhh WTF, it’s LLN.
There’s a FINE old Celtic song, played by everyone and their sons for generations and decades and longer. And, it’s become a camp jam staple at bluegrass and americana festivals. Usually, it’s played a bit like this, sometimes with longer breaks for all the instruments between verses, verses changed around and such.
Whiskey In The Jar.
Lyrics For Those Who Don’t Know The Song.
Why would I mention this on LLN?
Because I never knew THESE GUYS Ever Did It!!!! What a mind fuck I thought, when I found THAT mess!!!
But WAIT, There Was MORE EARLIER! Pure brain bleach mind fucks for this Larue.
Pick it or sang it, Pups . . . just brang it, cuz There’s Whiskey In The Jar!
*G*
Heh, I should cross post this at Busted’s place . . . . *G* I will!
i like to think we are easily amused
Duly noted, M’dear…! ;-)
any whiskey in larue? (lauging) some of your links are working dood
Must be it!
It was beautiful up here today. Made the mistake of heading up to Fry’s for some DVDs. The place was packed. Every spot in the parking lot was filled, which is about four times the number of people who are usually there. Shopping right after Christmas is as bad as shopping right before.
Hi Cujo! I back to earth now.
Probably the rum from the rum balls he made last nite over at the Beach Haus…! ;-)
i stayed away from the fred meyer today on purpose. figure mon it should be settled down some enough to do some grocery shopping.
got up to 55 here today. down to 34 now
*sigh* i love rum balls
I’m
I think this is the link to the Dubliners’ version.
How long were you away? ;)
thanks cujo — weather dood said tomorrow will be just as glorious but that monday the rains return
Yes…? ;-)
I was at our local Freddy’s on Christmas Eve. Same story. Lot was full. I’ve never seen it so packed, but that’s probably because I try to avoid it that time of year. Should have bought the milk at the AM/PM.
pa RUM pa pum pum, RUM pa pum pum.
If it’s as clear tomorrow I’ll have to get some pictures of the Cascades. Got a good one of the Olympics today. It will be up at my place at 8AM tomorrow (love that timed release thing).
i’ve gotten pretty good at avoiding all malls and places of commerce around christmas. go in get what i need and get out has been my favorite way to shop for as long as i can remember.
sweet.. always love your sunday eye candy pics cujo.
*snicker snicker*
I was just correcting my spelling!
time for me to head out. thanks for letting me hang out with ya tonight.
g’nite all.
Thanks (even I snickered though.)
G’nite all. Need to catch up on sleep.
That all started because Sundays tend to be busy days for me. Now, it just feels like routine.
Goodnight, Suzanne, and emerson.
Ooh, this get’s my blood boiling…
Aloha, Suz…! *g*
Night everyone.
Keyhrist, Suzzer . . . . my bad again . . . .
My FIRST Link, Dubliners
The other missing link. Dang . . .
Metallica, Whiskey In The Jar.
That’s one of the versions, I used the live version . . . don’t know WHY the linky’s didn’t work, ran out of time to edit . . . thanks though, that’s one I’ve been listening to lately as I work on the song . . . *G*
See Foodie Friday at Betsy’s Place . . . *G* I got thoughts on it all . . . ;-)
Well, he might think it’s funny, but I’d say anyone with as little knowledge of history as he has is bound to find reality strange. Obama hasn’t waffled, he’s simply refused to take a position at all if it suits him. The rest of the time he’s just done what he wants.
Although, I have to say that, as someone who took assloads of shit from people here during the election when I told people that Obama was precisely what he’s turned out to be, that he’s not entirely wrong about FDL.
Sigh, they all gone, so a pleasant g’thud to CT, the only west of me still awake it seems . . .
Don’t go near that plane!!!
*G*
Family blessings to you and yours . . . as MY family thins, I miss our tribe coming together anymore.
We hug on, me and mine . . . and I delight in the virtual family here at FDL . . .
Mahalo, CT!
Heh, I was an Edwards man until he dropped out…! (thankfully, in retrospect…) ;-)
g’thud, Larue…! Always a pleasure dude…! ;-)
As was I. That “thankfully”, though, points to why we’re in so much trouble as a nation. Edwards’ affair shouldn’t have made any difference. I never assumed he was an angel – I just wanted someone who would try to run the country for the benefit of its people. He was one of the few candidates who might have done that. That an affair should count as a disqualification, particularly given who he would have faced in the general election, just shows how screwed up this country is.
On that depressing thought, I think I’ll bid everyone a good evening.
Good morning, pups. The Moustache of Wisdom and Frank Rich are off today, so it’s just Dowd and Kristof. MoDo says “Oh, No! Kevin’s Back!.” She says if it’s Christmas, it must be time for her conservative brother to take over her column and turn it a blazing shade of red. Given that this is MoDo and she’s prone to writing fantasies I have no earthly idea if she has a brother… Mr. Kristof, in “Anybody Seen Pati?”, says a missing mother of four is a reminder that the most grievous victims of the global economic crisis aren’t just Americans.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got fresh banana bread this morning. I think I could get used to working 3 days a week and then having a 4 day weekend, so I think I’ll do it again next week. Have a great day.
