Sweet dreams.
Reid: “60 leaders who stood up to insurance companies and stood up for working families…” What? He actually said that. I can’t believe he actually said that. Unbelievable.
Dodd: “…fought long and hard…” With who? Maybe he means the Democratic effort against Dorgan’s Drug Importation amendment. You know, the one that would have saved billions of dollars for the PEOPLE, but would have cut into pharma’s profits.
I could hardly stomach all the backslapping in this clip, considering what was given up or not even fought for in the Senate bill.
i’ve been up since 3:00 am. i fell asleep listening to lies; woke up to the same thing. the first words I heard this morning was dodd saying this bill make health insurance a right for every american. (big ass lie). i fell asleeep to reid and baucus telling everyone what a great bill this is. In between i heard obama say how hard he is going to work with the house to make sure this passes. so now he decides to get involved after he and the senate have destroyed everything that would have given any type of real reform. they have stabbed us in the back. they have made their bed, after the next election they will have to lie in it.
I thought of calling Sens. Levin and Stabenow and telling them something like “I hope you’re ready to start working for a living”, but of course even if they get thrown out of office there’s the revolving door into a lucrative lobbying career. So they’ve got all the bases covered.
I guess I’ll just tell them “I hope you enjoy being in the minority”.
Exactly, Jan. And that’s the headline at HuffPo: “NOW HE GETS INVOLVED”.
It would be nice if Senators could not vote for companies they have investments in or take cash from.
Oh, crap. Yeah, work hard browbeating the House to give up the few crumbs of reformy-ness the Senate hasn’t already killed…
Feh. Faugh, even!

Christmas is coming so is New Years can we still get a filibuster? My guess is that in order to go home on Christmas and New Years we could even get GOP votes on a real healthcare bill if Harry decided to bring a real Healthcare bill up for a vote.
That would be real 13 dimensional chess! ( Yes I am dreaming ) but don’t ever say its impossible rather just say the Dems don’t want to.
Obama should remember the day this bill passes cause thats the day he lost the Dem Majority in the Senate and his second term.
Doing nothing about 10% unemployment when people are losing there homes is one thing sending more troops to war when you said you would end the war is another thing but forcing people to buy crappy overpriced health insurance just to bailout fat cat insurance CEO’s well that will cost him.
In reality they should recuse themselves from any vote and any legislation that affects a campaign contributor, but then the corporations wouldn’t get what they are paying for. Caveat emptor? Corporations are accustomed to getting what they pay for (what their person-hood status entitles them to buy). We are stuck with the results of what the true “free market” provides the corporate interests.
Of course there is backslapping aplenty after all they have just had a very successful and lucrative Senate session. They have managed to weather the brewing storm of the need for health care accessibility and have preserved and expanded the profits for their masters at InsurPharma.
Of course some of them will lose their jobs but they will have even more lucrative jobs waiting for them where they, along with Daschel, can lobby for health care reform utilizing the vast knowledge they have accrued during the bruising Senate battle.
Gotta love this Oh Bummah! change.
DFH ideas will get you investigated by the Lieberman Fatherland Committee
This saya it all:
“During an appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe today journalist and author Carl Bernstein lamented that the debate over and the writing of health care reform legislation has shown us “Congress at its worst.”
Bernstein harshly critiques the nation’s legislative branch as a body that is “responsive only to money and special interests” while ignoring the public and national interest:”
DFH ?
Lieberman Fatherland Committee heck Joe is for all intents and purposes the Senate Leader now he not Harry runs the show.
Oh, they’re not going to cover the vote at cspan1, said they’d “dip in” to the vote during WJ.
I don’t get cspan2. Does anyone have a link to where it will be covered online?
I couldn’t make it past the first few sentences by Reid.
“We’re so proud of what this bill accomplished.”
What a joke these guys are.
It’s on cspan2 now, and Reid is up blabbering.
Dirty ‘effin Hippie!
CSpan 2
Thanks to you and twolf. Gots two windows open now.
Hey I’m a Damm F ing Hippy :)
McConnell: When they finally get home for the first time since Thanksgiving? Is he kidding? That was, what, a whole month ago? Poor babies.
Look Pups,
I got a shitload of stuff to do and te better half is recuperating so that only adds to it. Don’t know that I’ll be on again until tonight and that’s iffy, too.
Merry Xmas to all!
Careful now, DFH is just a small step away from Socialist!
but but but… they work sooo hard!1!
Dunno. Reminded me of my fave parts of Chuckie, Pet Sematery and Psycho. Always a treat to see Harry Reid at his statesman like best, shitting on the people. Chris Dodd’s inspiring tongue bath of Harry was exceeded only by his bullshit invocation of the Dead Kennedy. Max Baucus looks and acts like a severely hung over legacy drunk. All sixty of those Senators should run into the cloakroom like the crooked senator in Mr. Smith Goes To Washington. Motherfuckers. Best part “ZOMG! We worked for three consecutive weeks! First time since 1917!”
Take care. Drive safely, and Breathe.
Merry Christmas to you too, BFL.
Do they have blisters on their fingers?
HCR vote liveblog up top…
if I can’t get tere by walkin’, I ain’t goin’. No drivin’ for me. Gonna eat like a pig. Gotta get on a bike or somethin’ Saturday, right? Knee is feelin’ alot better.
the question needs to be asled, would Kennedy have voted for this bill?
The accomplishment is shaking down an industry for over $ 200 million in campaign contributions in the midst of the worst recession most of us have lived through.
We now see how complete the money from the richest 1% pigs run the country.
Reform it later my ass now that the corporations will make up that $200 in a flash, then fatten their bank accounts to buy out any reform effort put forth, like that will happen.
To Madam Obama and his house of whores, Merry Christmas to you soulless bastards.
You know Obama probably has the whole family ready for a photo op once the bill passes.
I can’t wait for the poll numbers after we see the final bill. I can’t wait for the excuses on why the bill was not fixed in the senate house meeting.
I wonder if the MSM has even mentioned that this bill Corporate Welfare for the insurance industry.
Now he gets involved. He talked the talk, but he didn’t walk the walk.
