The George W. Bush Institute — the “action- oriented think tank” that is part of Bush’s Presidential Center — will co-produce a public television show hosted by its executive director, Ambassador James Glassman.
“Ideas in Action” will premiere in February and will be co-produced by Andrew Walworth, who produces PBS’s “Think Tank.”
Great, a think-tank about not thinking very much. Sounds perfect for the Bush Library, an action-oriented library without stuff containing actual words.

Musta been a typo
Good morning. “Public” television was in the tank for the bush administration with son of rat fink Powell in charge so for them to be a the forefront of the rehabilitation effort is not that surprising.
“The people who give the money to make Mister Bush’s Neighborhood are the people of this and other public television stations, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and The Right Wing Noise Machine.”
Somebody at PBS should be drawn and quartered.
HuffPo’s style guid should know that the name is not James Glassman; the name is James “Dow 36,000″ Glassman.
You can bet they will trot out classic idiots like Richard Haas, who, just yesterday was on The Morning JOkE telling us what is really needed right now is for the U.S. to import manufactured goods from Pakistan. This is an alleged National Security expert.
The profound level of stupid hurt my poor brain.
For a real presrciption for economic and national security health try this.
Thanks for the morning jump start, Attaturk. Good morning all.
OT, but I’m currently doing a little traveling and I’ve also been hearing from my non-political-junkie friends and family and I don’t think the Obama administration understands the seriousness of our discontent.
It’s not just the liberal blogosphere. I’m discovering from my interactions that even people who aren’t all that plugged-in to politics are echoing many of the same sentiments I read here at FDL.
If there’s a silver lining at all, I guess it doesn’t help the credibility of the right-wing who still try to portray Obama as some sort of radical Marxist, when the people are clearly seeing just the opposite out of Obama’s actions.
the words george bush and think tank being used in the same sentence is more than i can wrap my brain around until i’ve had more coffee.
OT, but i plan to cock-punch any catholic bishops i see today.
Sharkbabe, you’re my hero.
Good morning, pups. It’s Dowd and Friedman today. MoDo has a question: “Is There a Real McCain?” She says once a constructive independent, John McCain now is such a predictable obstructionist that he’s in the just-say-no vanguard with the same conservatives who used to despise him. I think I’ve figured it out — MoDo notices things about 4 or 5 Friedman Units after everyone else. Speaking of Friedman Units, the Moustache of Wisdom, in “The Copenhagen That Matters,” says the climate summit may not have solved our problems, but we can’t ignore the issues — or how individual countries, like Denmark, have effectively addressed them.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got Thomas’ English muffins with your favorite jam. The improbability of combining “Bush” and “ideas” in one sentence has given me a headache, so I’m off to get another cup of tea and hope the vertigo passes. Have a great day.
Absolutely. Many of my interactions are with building, painting, plumbing and other contractors most of whom are either apolitical or right leaning and they, mostly self or under employed, believed the bill of goods that the administration was selling during the run up to the foggy bottom farce that is now unfolding in congress. They believed that they would be able to get health care, would be able to afford health care and would have a government run health system to fall back on. Most did not buy into the “government will only screw it up” right wing meme as many of their parents are on Medicare and Social Security and without that their parents, for the most part, would be in the poor house or damn near it.
Realizing that Oh Bummah! has sold them a bill of goods they are not happy. Unfortunately their annoyance is not directed at the GOP stalling and generally fucking the system but with the Democrats that promised so much knowing full well that it was a pack of lies.
The politicians have not correctly read the mood of the country when it come to health care rather they have only seen the monies coming their way from the InsurPharma business and that will be, at least for the democrats, their downfall in the 2010 elections.
Totally OT. Do your cats still believe in Santa Paws?
A show on wall slamming?
I had missed the PBS tag…sick about it. I guess it is trading W for Moyers…gag. Who does PBS think the audience is?
No, the typo was “thi
nck tank”Morning all.
Maybe the “think tank” will explain how a gut thinks.
For you east coasters your chrismas snow arrived here last night.
It is coming your way.
Absolutely. They always scoop a bit of food out of the dish to leave for Santa, and ask for catnip mice. Well, this year Delilah is asking for a pigeon or a dove who’ll sit still long enough for her to pounce but I’ve told her that Santa can’t create that kind of miracle for her.
Good morning everyone.
I actually saw Haas at precisely that moment, and you’re right, it was so stoopid I had to immediately flip it off.
Waterboarding for dummies.
Mine sits in the window & glares at the birds on the feeder. However, when I let her outside (and I’ve only had her for about 6 weeks), she doesn’t go near the feeder. Go figure.
First two callers on WJ very knowledgeable about HCR and VERRRY angry.
Maybe she’s a Democrat… all show no go.
Now that’s a viable hypothesis. Sigh.
Mister Bush’s Neighborhood will be better pledge drive bane than Yanni Live at the Acropolis. (I had to watch it through several pledge drives — one of the Littlest Pillows had a minor crush on him at a certain age).
OT: oldnslow, you need to psych yourself up for your commute. I put this on my AM drive playlist. Works wonders.
Pharma, Banking and Petroleum
(and you, our listeners)
Yep, all those solve-the-male problem products.
An alternate explanation is that it gives semi-aware xenophobes and bigots credible cover.
I wonder how long I can consider this Presidency the lesser of two evils.
Probably quite a while, but articles such as this are needed to remind us just how bad the greater of two evils can be.
I hope they show in the opening credits, pictures of Bush hitting his head upon exiting Air Force One, dropping barney, and crashing on his bike. Oh yeah, lets not forget the choking on the pretzel. Thats a good one.
DeMOCKracy in our time. Really big evil, or just big evil.
Here’s the best critique of Obama that I’ve read lately:

You’ve heard *those* on NPR?
Best argument for reintroducing the professional ban on medical and pharma advertising.
You would think that more social conservatives would be concerned about explaining what ‘an erection lasting over 4 hours’ is to their grade school children they are trying to introduce to the love of sports.
Do ya think this may be an attempt to re-write history?
Limp dick leadership.
Walking into the (lowercase) wall in China
Reading a children’s’ book upside down while the WTC fell
Mission Accomplished
Fool me once, shame on me, fool me twice…won’t get fooled again
Too kind
I can hardly wait for the youtube takeouts.
Well, to be honest;), Im not sure….but they are everywhere, dontcha know?
Thank you Stony.
And falling off the Segway… And that bit with the locked door — was that in China?
Leering at the Olympian….hugging the German leader…makes us so proud.
a ghost of the past…no day goes by without remembering Maxine Waters’ strident, solitary voice cry into our future:
“The objection is in writing, and I don’t care that it isn’t signed by a member of the Senate.”
the indignity of it all
How about trying to give Merkel a shoulder rub? that was hilarious!! Then she tries to shrug him off! Ba HA ha ha
hey guys,
I used to comment more than recently. No problems; that’s just how it’s worked out. Been lurking some, though.
Just wanted to pop in to say Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everybody. Always a pleasure at FDL.
They could tie the new Bush show into the Letterman segway “Great moments in Presidental History”!!
Did he fall asleep on the Pope? or something? Not that I wouldn’t. But I’m not a head of state on the public stage. Falling asleep under those circumstances receives a dim view.
Our national pride….should be a collection of Gracious Moments. I still suffer shock that our own Supreme Court gave us the Royal Clown, not to be disrespectful, who, according to his dad, would restore dignity to the Oval Office. The Bush brand of dignity….
Yes, what a treasure following FDR & JFK….perfect
An action-oriented think tank! Wow! I’m thinking Chuck Norris for director; he’d provide the perfect Shrub-like mix of action without too much thought being wasted on the tank part.
They should rename the Institute. How about the Alfred E. Newman Institute for the dimwitted.
I’m sorry, this is almost no fun. Too easy of a target, I guess.
Well, his dad did barf on the Japanese Prime Minister…
But I do feel the perfect SNL skit being created as we speak.
Awwww, it sorta is….just to celebrate that he’s gone, I guess. Plus we could add in Dick with his smarl, shooting, insults to the press. A whole new slant.
ok, in this scene your going to fall asleep on 9/11, start two illegal wars, drown new orleans, meltdown wall street, expose CIA agents all while cutting taxes for the ultra wealthy……and….ACTION!
PBS and NPR are but a mere shadow of what they once were. Sure their nature and cultural programing is still excellent but with few exceptions their political coverage is abysmal. Washington Week in Review, The News Hour are two of the worst.
Are they gonna have their own crayons?
I think the think tank idea is perfect for somebody whose thinking was ALWAYS in the tank.
