I was totally looking forward to seeing Rudy Giuliani [9-11!] lose another election at the earliest possible [9-11!] opportunity. But it was not to be…yet.
So long, Rudy.
Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani is expected to announce Tuesday he is not running for U.S. Senate or anything else in 2010, effectively ending his storied – and often stormy – electoral career, The Daily News has learned.
But fear not, [9-11!] Rudy will be back. In fact, at present in Clive, Iowa, Rudy still has his signage up [9-11!] from 2008 — so he’s all set to lose [9-11!] badly in a presidential run in 20-[9-11!]-12.

I wonder picture surfaced to get him out of the race so soon
Isn’t his campaign manager, Kerick, in the pokey?… or was that his butler, or bag man ?
Good morning, Attaturk and pups. Thanks for the chuckle Attaturk. A refreshing break from the intense goings-on here lately.
nomolos,
I think old bernie was actually proposed as the Homeland Security Chief at one point, no? But alas, bagman is prolly the most accurate.
The portico of City Hall was never enough balcony for him.
Does running for the Senate and for President count as cross dressing?
Wait, “cross dressing” … did that term originate from the KKK?
Never mind….
Good morning, pups. It’s just Bobo and Cohen because Bob Herbert is off today. Bobo ponders what he’s calling “The Protocol Society” and says the success of an economy depends on its ability to invent and embrace a new set of instructions. Mr. Cohen writes “In Defense of America,” and says no other nation is as capable of self-correcting renewal, even after a bruising decade.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got a selection of bagels with cream cheese. I can’t believe that there are just 2 more days of work and then the last choir rehearsal tomorrow before Midnight Mass. Does anyone else feel that time is passing faster than it used to? (Maybe it’s because I’m an old fart and I’ve got more time behind me than I do in front of me…) Have a great day.
Oh dear, now we will be left with only serious candidates.
Cohen.
Whaaaat! Does he mean that some people should be more equal than others?
Well, there’s always Sarah lurking in the sidelines…
I think he’s saying that although the truth is “self-evident” equality isn’t going to happen without legislation to do away with obvious prejudice. He certainly could have worded that better…
I thought there was about a 50-50 chance that those 2 sentences appeared as a result of him wiping drool off his keyboard.
He needs an editor…. or another job. Thanks for the translation.
I thought it was clear– he’s saying it’s apparently not self-evident to everyone so we need checks and balances.
Morning All.
Guess this means we won’t have a noun, a verb, and 9-11 on loop in the news.
So our choices are Patterson & Gillibrand? Oy.
BTW, Attaturk, I started reading a biography of Attaturk.
Mornin’, eCAHN. I saw where you asked some good questions on the thread about mosques the other day, and I thought it was kind of weird that no one answered any of them.
Hmm. If the checks and balances are adjusted to enforce the original idea of all being equal but the adjustments are made by the “in crowd” how will that work out for the people who are not part of the power structure?
Story of my life, or one of the stories anyhow.
I see what you’re saying– in fact that’s a pretty good description of what’s happening right now.
The only place Giuliani is going is to a special place in hell.
Gonna be crowded in that corner of W admin officials and other selected Rs.
Yeah, and it’s only gonna get more crowded when Obama and his cronies get there.
The Power Corner.
mdr
The picture, while funny, would not be possible if some other business (in Iowa?) needed the space. Kinda depressing from that perspective actually.
Rudy, like Bush 43, could be great marketing studies of differentiation: what you do if you have an indistinguishable or inferior product.
The answer is to look for some unfulfilled intangible (like security), mark your product in some visible way (not necessarily related to the need) and position your product as the answer.
Works with great with burnt coffee and triangularly branded winter outerwear.
The problem is that rather than getting a shitty cuppa or overpaying for warmth by a factor of 4, we get wars and economic disaster.
Sometimes the “in crowd” can be forced – or shamed – into doing the right thing. Think of the civil rights act, the voting rights act, giving women the vote, abolition of the poll tax, etc., etc.
