Oh dear, it’s time for Metamucil Man to decry the liberals picking on poor President Obama, how dare those effing hippies. Democracy to Broder means getting in line and shutting the hell up.
I think Obama deserves more help than he is getting from his fellow Democrats in Congress, given the boost he provided them in the last election, the difficulty of the problems he inherited and the stiff-arm he has received from Republicans.
Once again, Broder fails to notice who gave Obama the problems he inherited (“the comeback kid“) as well as the quite natural dispute over whether Obama is addressing those problems in the manner he campaigned upon.
However, the biggest piece of bashing by Broder against “the long-hairs” is this, Nancy Pelosi telling Obama she wasn’t going to do the heavy-lifting to rally another supplemental funding request for the wars in the Spring.
Refusing to fund something as awesome as war outside the budget is just short of treason to Broder. Meanwhile, the old gasbag cannot start cutting medicare fast enough, as he spends his post-mortality years as a prominent budget scold — especially when it comes to assisting the non-rich.
Oh the horror, the horror of not off-budgeting horror.

Pelosi rocks. Like she told those backward dipstick Republicans about knowing her place….”I do know my place. I’m the Speaker of the House. I’ve been elected by my colleagues.” or something like that. Nice allusion to “The Heart of Darkness” Matlock. Obama was elected on a platform. The progressive are simply reminding him of that platform. Fair enough, it appears as if he may have forgotten it.
while it would be peachy if democrats could march in lock-step like republicans usually do; republicans tell people they are going to cut taxes for the rich, cut social programs, and basicly fuck those less fortunate. democrats blow smoke up our asses, tell us they’re on our side,
gonna change things, promise people things they need, then turn out to be just as bad as republcans. broder and the rest of the corporate media are also part of the problem. what the hell ever happened to investigative journalism and then reporting it?
as one of those “long hairs”, i don’t kniow whether to be flattered or pissed?
Broder and Barry: a match made in centrist (read: corporate) heaven (or hell).
RomneyCare Monday. Broder’s going to proclaim an imminent “Obama Bounce” any day now.
Good morning, pups. It’s Monday so you know what you’re in for — The Pasty Little Putz and Krugman. Oh, cripes. It’s too early on Monday morning for The Pasty Little Putz as a combination of film critic and religious scold. In “Heaven and Nature” he trumpets that the film “Avatar” is the director’s long apologia for pantheism, Hollywood’s religion of choice for a generation now. Do us all a favor, Putz, and put a sock in it. Prof. Krugman addresses “A Dangerous Dysfunction” and says the difficulty of trying to pass health care reform shows how dysfunctional the Senate, and the United States government as a whole, has become.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and the biscuits are out of the oven. All of a sudden our temperature has dropped below freezing this morning and it’s supposed to be 60° tomorrow. The “noises off” you’re hearing from this area of the country is the sound of everyone coughing, sniffling and sneezing. Have a great day.
Don’t know WTF he’s talking about. Obama’s done a fabulous job extending the Bushco programs, smoothly and effectively coordinating with his republiKKKrat majority and maintaining seamlessly the illusion of a two party system: Barack Hussein Hoover. So STFU, old man, or [edited by mod]
[Mod note: No threats of violence against anyone -- even if in jest. Thanks.]
Meanwhile Oh Bummah! has us by the short hairs.
I do believe that if we had half way decent leadership there would be less of a problem dealing with the recalcitrant Democrats and the obdurate Republicans.
Good morning Marion and the kitties.
The system functions quite well for the richest, greedy, self centered 1% pigs who own us.
To think million dollar congress people will tell billion dollar drug ponsi scheme actors how to act is delusional. They dance with those that brought them.
Oh dear. Broder’s head is spinning. The hippies have driven him further nuts. You see, they’re ruining everything! Here’s how it was supposed to work:
Since the Dems have so many more Senators, it was supposed to look like they would run roughshod over the GOP. Then Obama didn’t help — to make it look more even. It still wasn’t, so several Dems joined the GOP. NOW it was even, and Obama still got his “win” but nothing changed, or things got worse. Broder is happy.
But then those dirty kids are trying to ruin it all! And, since it is not over, they might spoil everything! It is a TRAVESTY in BroderLand!
Morning all.
Do they have an old age home for clowns?
Happy shortest day of the year to everyone.
Morning Folks,
I was involved with my personal life all weekend so I haven’t followed the weekend developments on health care.
But NPR woke me this morning with the news that the Senate overcame a filibuster. Unless something dramatic happened over the weekend, I don’t consider this good news.
Selling everything I own and moving to Costa Rica or something is starting to seem like a good idea. Hell, the track we’re on in this country we’re about a decade away from Zimbabwe seeming like an improvement.
WALL STREETS GREATEST FEAR…
( Who Really Crashed the Economy?)
“Mobs disrupt town meetings. Glenn Beck amplifies a careless remark by a mid-level White House staff member into a threat of a national communist takeover. The right wing spin machine creates a parent revolt over a presidential pep talk to students urging them to study hard and stay in school. Meanwhile, the Party of No blocks action on health care and climate disruption with lies and distortions and declares President Obama’s stimulus package a socialist plot and a failed waste of taxpayer money.
There is a common thread. Each of these media events has diverted attention from Wall Street’s responsibility for crashing the economy, taking trillions of dollars in public bailout money, and then rewarding itself with outlandish bonuses.
The Wall Street corporations funding the front organizations that orchestrate these and other diversions hope we will forget that America’s number one problem is Wall Street—and the overpaid Wall Street casino gamblers who destroyed our economy in a reckless test of the theory that markets can self-regulate and that the unrestrained pursuit of individual greed is beneficial to society.
Wall Street’s greatest fear is that the public might demand Congress and the president shut down the casino. Any issue that shifts attention away from Wall Street and pins the blame for job loss and mortgage foreclosures on President Obama works in its favor.”

Good morning. cnbc anchors are complaining about pork in the HCR bill.
Hmmmmm
Add 10 tons of pork to 20 tons of bullcrap and you get the Insurance Protection Act 2009
Well, they have a point. Nelson and Lieberman both extracted a ton of pork during the “negotiations”.
I had to switch it off. The absence of self-awareness on that channel is astounding.
Yep. Better treatment for sick people, even if they were diagnosed with a particular disease before a particular date, is really terrible.
Oh dear, Steve Forbes is on cspan. Click, he’s gooonnne.
My spouse has just pointed out that the bill should be called HIPA, Health Insurance Protection Act
Did you check to see how much pork Lieberman got?
“I think Obama deserves more help than he is getting from his fellow Democrats in Congress”
Obama WILL get more help, as soon as he starts acting and doing things more like a Democrat and not a moderate Republican/Corporate Dem.
Senate Democrats to throw Republicans into the briar patch after overcoming Republican filibuster.
You really have to hand it to the evil geniuses planning out Republican strategy. Republicans got their wet dream of a health care bill, but Democrats get to take the blame. Masterful.
Suffering fools has become a way of life in the U.S..
Swim is up…
“Pork” is when it benefits folks like us.
Howard Dean’s 50 state plan helped Dems get elected, including Obama. Many Progressives, like myself, saw in Obama a great deal of charisma, but little meat. We worked hard to get him elected. We are not going to stop paying attention once he got elected.
The bill must be killed because it enables congressional corruption. The whores like nelson and lieberman must be appeased, because if they are not then people might think others shouldn’t get money from their pimp corporations, and that might mean that other dem senators can’t get money from their corporate pimps. Kill this bill, stuff it up obama’s and reid’s ass. Give them the choice, do a good bill or take the blame. That’s a lot more than they’re trying to give us.
