Got a call this a.m. that my (91 yr old) mother is in the hospital-she wants me to come in case there’s surgery or something, so I booked the best flight I could – arrives at 8:30 p.m.

Help, snow people! It’s probably been ten years or more since I’ve driven even a short distance in snow, and will be driving a rental.

Should be fine ’til about noon and nothing critical on the list.

Always feel more secure with cash, gas and veggies (and beer) though.. For years I’ve had a never below 1/2 full rule on the gas. Been getting lax lately.

Into the city, probably, but not to the northern suburbs. I did take a cab once several years ago…horribly expensive, and then I’d be without transportation to the hospital. Also in the suburbs, of course. I know the way well, at least.

Saw my rheumatologist this week. He wants to start me on a biologic drug called Remicade. It’s administered by IV and would be covered by Medicare Part B, so wouldn’t throw me into the Part D donut hole. Infusion process takes 2-4 hours, which is a bummer. Lots of scary potential side effects but that’s also the case with the Methotrexate I’ve taken for several years. He must believe the risk is fairly low.

I’ve been sort of freaking out watching the politics of the week unfold. First of all, I want Howard Dean to run for president on account of his standing up to Obama. On Morning Joe, he said that he will NOT vigorously support Obama’s re-election.

Also, I was impressed at how prescient Jane was when she wrote on Oct. 5 in an article entitled “Countdown to Lieberman”:

.. Harkin says there are 54-57 votes for a public option. That’s a clear majority. And it would certainly pass the House. No, the only reason to pass a bill without a public option is if the White House doesn’t want one. But who is going to let the public know? Who is going to make the announcement that there will be no public option? Who’s going to take that political hit?

The White House doesn’t have the stomach for it. They want someone else to take the hit. Maybe Harry Reid? Um…no:

Go to a good natural food store find fresh foods like garlic wheat grass and green drink and other herbs and spices that will build your immune system. And google immune builder before you go. Do 15 minute of meditation twice a day and give you body a chance to heal itself with these aid.

Psoriatic arthritis is an autoimmune disease, like rheumatoid arthritis. Primarily attacks the hands and feet but can also affect the spine. Hard to tell if the latter is true in my case since my spine has been defective from the outset.

Strange joy in the air lately…the bay was full and still this morning. It was beautiful seeing the flocks of Brandt geese and other bird enjoying their safe haven.
This morning I got five hours of pro bono lawyer time and am invited back tomorrow to gert my tax exempt status rolling. It is a time of coming together fo me. The attorney has vowed to fight this assinine sewer plan for two years. ( a grvityu collection that are known to leak 50% of the sewage will be installed in our drinling water aquifer…we are in short water supply and saltwater intrusion…how insane is that…at $250.00 a month to destroy our water supply…that is real insanity,,,no it is corporate greed by the largest wastewater company in the world…Montgomery Watson Harza.

Yep, the hook bills are highly intelligent and very social (which is why they live in flocks in the wild). They will actually go insane from boredom and neglect. Bird breeders are scum, there are a million more exotic birds living in captivity than there are good homes. If you know anyone considering getting a bird, please encourage them to adopt from an avian rescue.
