hey margot — how’s ohio tonight?
In regards to Suz at Late Night, Merry Xmas THIS, Mr President:
Dear Mr. President:
I am writing you to tell you that you have lost my support for your administration and its policies.
I, and millions of your base, elected you on the promise of change for the betterment of the middle class and our country.
Sadly, since you’ve taken office your policy and actions on FISA/Warrentless Wiretapping, TARP, Afghanistan and Iraq and now Health Care Reform have only perpetuated the status quo to the betterment and enrichment of corporate special interests.
Your avid support for what the present Health Care Reform looks like is the last straw.
There IS no reform in the present legislation as crafted, it’s a giveaway to the private insurers and PhArma, and does NOTHING for the rest of the great masses of the general public.
You have lost, in less than 12 months of governing, the support and hope of millions of others who feel like I do about your policy’s and actions.
At a moment in history, when you could have established yourself within the ranks of such notable social change agents as MLK and Ghandi, you chose instead to perpetuate a status quo to benefit entrenched corporate special interests.
You have single handledly wasted a moment in time when the Democrat Party could have risen to incredible greatness in reforming our country for the betterment of the general masses.
You have lost my support and the support of millions who worked hard to get you elected. I will work tirelessly to primary you in ’12, and any Democrat’s who have supported your policy’s and actions in the past 12 months in 2010.
I regret my vote to elect you. You squandered it, and your place in history, to support a chosen few 1%.
Sincerely,
(my name)
Toronto has a dusting of Snow on the ground, which makes the Lights twinkle beautifully.
The Prairies are a balmy -16 F …
I mean they got video of joe thats pretty recent saying he supported the lowering the age for Medicare proposal.
So what changed was he only supporting healthcare as long as it had no chance of passing? Which is I admit a good scenario.
Did he hear Koz and Jane liked healthcare and that news sent Joe over the edge? Again another good scenario After Bush, Darth and Maybe Scooter Libby Joe is our least favorite person.
Or maybe Joe got early word about Jane’s post about his wife and then went nuts. FDL I assume has spies, I’m sure our emails are read and if there is anyway to read remotely whats on a computer then I’m sure the GOP are testing the device on Jane’s computer.

Kelly, one thing I like about the Hawaiian language is the fact they only have 13 letters in their alphabet… Subsequently, one word can have a dozen different meanings… Take ‘aloha’ for example…! ;-)
hi and welcome. late late night posts are lighter fare than the daytime stuff. a chancce to talk about the news of the day — or not — a place to relax and recover from teh day so we can pick up the battle tomorrow.
Margot ! Kelly ! Punaise ! Lurkers ! *g*
No.
Suzanne!
Snow on the back steps, nothing else anywhere. Now that is strange!
Fine what made you decide to write your diary?
nothing out of the ordinary here.

Good evening Suzanne – hope folks have seen her Outstanding rant of a diary. Y’all pile on.
Welcome to elpretentio….will let the regulars fill you in on the mysteries of Late Night and Late Late.
While we’re plugging great diaries – not to be missed – Kelly’s Denver Action post for tomorrow. Recommended.
I don’t know who I love the most, Jimmy (sexy and adorable) or the Roots, his fabulous band from Philadelphia who travel to NYC every night. Love the show!
hey eg — how ya doing tonight? and ditto the recommend for kelly’s phone bank diary
Right on punaisette…! I’m dreading that shortly with my middle’un…! *g*
the only (cynical) silver lining to this whole HCR clusterf*ck is that for the next 2 years I have a ready-made response to any institutional Dem organizations’ fundraising appeal.
*G*
You haughtily flounce your 72F and expect the rest of the frozen nation to be HAPPY for you?
HAH!
*G*
Like my letter to our President? In #22 above?
How is the media and joe responding to the Hadassah story Jane set in motion? I assume no celebrities have weighed in yet.
Eeep … sending Hot Toddy for Margot !
same here — not one fucking cent
{{{ EG }}}
with one notable exception her older brother has been a great driver. takes patience and no small amount of luck to teach your kid to drive!
Hello Hello It’s me again. Listening in the background to New Earth records website yoga music. Very peaceful and calming especially after 2 hour class filled with beautiful people, nice sounds, aroma and color.
Wishing you all joy.
Am well, thank you, hope you are too. Counting my blessings, going back east soon to see the kids for Christmas. ["Kids" = all grown up, but still my babies. You know how it goes.]
Hiya bigbrother !
hey bb — how’s the bay tonight? been rowing?
Good luck my friend!
MrCE and I put the local autobody firm’s kids though college! There wasn’t an automobile we owned that they didn’t crash, at least once. But, I do miss them!
yahoo! my girls are both gone this year — stephanie is in colorado and will be in kansas — jennifer and hubby are heading down to ca to her dad’s in the bay area.
That reminds me of of a line about the ruler who said, “I know I’m paranoid, but am I paranoid enough?”
As always – flippin freezin – all the way down to 54…
Brrrrr!
Yes, and we insisted on manual, or stick shift driving (for snow here).
i am a confession to make.
egregious read bout my lost paper chains (and all decorations) for any tree — and sent me a box full of jewel toned paper chains that she made and a box of candy canes.
i no longer have the ‘i don’t have anything to put on a tree’ excuse.
sigh
I’ll agree the eldest was a great learner(driver)… As she’s pursuing her Phd…!
hey drouse — how ya doing tonight?
OK, I promised myself to have 50 comments pass in LLN before I blogwhored:
To any of you LLN Front Range Colorado Lurkers; Join us!
i’m gonna give you as much sympathy as i gave ct’s comment about him being chilled
honey — hate to break it to ya but eg blog-pimped ya up thread
*ducking*
Ooh… You’re so busted…! ;-)
tell me about it dood — fork i’m gonna have to get a forking tree now (laughing)
Yoga man in your yoga land are you sailin in Samadhi? nice to have some high company. “This is the dawning of the age of aquarius.” Have you heard or read Osho?
It’s hard out there for us NorCals.
does anyone besides punaise like this video?
Weeee! Thanks EG!
Stupid me, holding powder, counting comments, not looking at their content.
Sheesh. You’d think I was in Dem leadership.
naw… you gotta spine
Pretty good. Health is holding up and I decided to do a standing rib roast for Xmas dinner. First time for me and I’m a little worried about fucking a very expensive hunk of meat.
Oh, good on ya, EG!
And, Suz, your “firepup” has a little wire loop on the top, so just add string and instant tree ornament!!
FWDiva
Yes, I have heard and read Osho.
i love roasts for christmas dinner.
paging larue and kelly to the chef phone please….. any suggestions so drouse isn’t worried about fucking up a very expensive hunk of meat?
It’s v. good, Suz !
Yeah, it’s rough living where what is considered really cold is still north of freezing.
Up goes the tree, out comes the smile.
*G*
EG’s a hossette of the first order!!! Way to go Egregious!!!
*G*
Callouses almost gone. Doing Tai Chi Chaun and Yoga and lots of screen time on Lawsuit and Coastal Commission appeals (yuk. Taking some time out for joy. How’s your Bay? You got the view kid.
oooooh that is right — i keep my pup on my desk where i can look at it and smile. it will be a great little topper to the tree
thanks pet
you’re a tender fender bender mender spender… :~)
EG is a good egg
bay is doing fine — iced up last week as did everything else up here. has thawed out now (but is hidden in the dark at the moment)
lotsa crab boats lately on the ocean. i can see their lights lighting up the back side of the spit as they check their crab pots.
Suzanne! Hope you’re healing nicely.
17 degrees here, supposed to reach 10 or 11. Almost broke out my winter shorts today but decided not to rush.
I understand. Best advice — be sure to let it rest before carving. And don’t forget the white paper bone hats! Oh, serving meat makes me nervous.
Always available if drouse needs me!
Food? Me? Wanna chat? Sun come up in east?
*G*
Get hold of a Cutco cookbook for temperatures, and invest $20 in an electronic probe meat thermometer. You can set the alarm for the temp you need. Always let it rest out of the oven for about 20 min (under foil) before carving. And it’ll keep cooking, up to 10 more degrees out of the oven.
I’m sure there’s lots of info out there. I like Alton Brown’s show “good eats”…he’s probably got a site.
FWDiva
hey rat — nice to see ya again. brrrrr (while covering eyes)
mouth is healing slowly but surely. have a post up (click on my name) re the latest. i go back tomorrow for a recheck.
Epic! *G*
Awwww…I didn’t mean ya had to use it as a topper…
Lovely! Exactement.
Hey Suz! Having a brain freeze. What’s the name of that guitarist we like-the real fast guy you first showcased here?
Mmmmm. Crab.
Hey, I am plenty ashamed of my weather, especially when ET comes in here. You can almost see the icicles hanging off of his sleeves.
i figure i’ll get a charlie brown xmas tree — small enough i can carry it up here
and it would make a fine topper
which one dood… need more a clue than that (laughing)
how ya doing tonight?
christmas crab
Any chance that wii game will put martial arts or yoga on the video screen?
Well I could send ya an angel I made out of the same type of clay…
FWDiva
Hah! I just played a you tube of him the other nite-solo gigs, middle-aged (young to me)?
In college it was New Year’s Eve crab. Picked up live from the Asian market. Mmmmm.
Yoga is already available for Wii, but you will need a Balance Board.
well ya do know my address (lauging)
seriously i think this little guy would be just fine
Save the money.
Using a metal skewer, put it into the deepest center of the cut, and pull it out in 5 seconds.
Touch it to your lip.
If it’s only luke warm, test another shallower part. But you are only 5-10 minutes away from rare, if not already rare.
As it will cook out another 10 degrees, I always pull it at this point. That way I have blood rare to medium rare for the bulk of the cut. Others who want more well done, you can cut and soak in the au jus you will make from the pan drippings.
If it’s warm, it’s Medium Rare, and if you pull it out you’ll BARELY have any medium rare.
If it’s hot, you’ve got well done all around.
timmy something?
I thought they already had. Google Nintendo Wii…
Hey, what kind of crab, Suz? Dungeness?
FWDiva
I like Alton the best of the Food Network cooks. By far the most entertaining. Their website gets more convulted every time I go. I’ve about given up on it because of the effort it to find anything. Allrecipes.com is where I go for how to information now. Anyways, I’m only a tiny bit worried. I usually do pretty good in the kitchen.
Touch it to your lip???
wander yonder to launder ($) and ponder the fonder Bondo on the Honda, no?
thanks! i appreciate the response.
don’t think so, but very Dickens of you. *g*
Nice choppers!
I still have my mom’s extra lower plate in a tupperware container in my freezer. She read somewhere it was a good way to store them… don’t know why. Maybe to discourage bacteria. Suppose I should pitch them. Seems like such a waste. I don’t suppose you’ve ever heard of dentures being recycled?
Speaking of food…just made soup with home grown butternut squash, carrots, string beans, brocolli, potato slices and and little chili and lentil soup added. Topped with grilled onions. The squash so tender the skin was good added sprouts and boiled egg for the second cup and vinegar salt/pepper chips.
Sweet!
This spells it out pretty well, for Prime Rib. I’ts not a Standing Crown Roast, but it’s the same purchase, prep and cooking times and such. Good read for beginners.
my pleasure — most folks here love to answer questions — help show the ropes to new commenters
Punaise is on fire !!!
I love that he’s so unpretentious and a science nerd. I guess it helps that he’s not one of those obnoxious judges on Chopped or FN Challenge…
FWDiva
Heh heh,
so what can you do for MrCE’s lovely Honda Civic Si? This car drives itself.
found it — tommy emmanuel
Yes.
Aside from the GOP being desperate to keep unemployment high until election time and Geithner and Summers desperate to give a Herbert Hoover approved bank bailout a chance is there anyone else in Washington who thinks a big Federal jobs program before the election could give the Dems the election?
I mean who ever is Obama’s political guy should be pushing this idea hard the polling on this should indicate massive support.
And I know the Dems do in house secret polls on this stuff but is anyone showing this to Obama?
hey dearie — how’s so central co coast tonight?
Maybe next year but why the balance board?
And if it’s well-done, I’ll never burn it again, right?
Or just go lipless.
Louis as a kitten three years ago, exploring the Xmas tree.
i bet your dentist would know the answer to that.. if those materials can be recycled or modified for someone who needs em.
I’m thinking of erecting a 15′ holiday Tesla coil in the front yard. That should discourage those pesky carolers.
nom d’un chien.. je ne suis pas garagiste!
That’s how the Wii Console measures your progress. I’ve tried it and it’s fairly good, however I would suggest that you consult with a reputable Yoga teacher before starting … esp. if you have any health issues.
i like the way you think — and tesla’s are way forking kewl!
I love how you are all Simply Mad!
I have company aside from Larue! Cool.
I found this photo of Lord Joe while searching the web
http://www.phawker.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/joe-lieberman-pig.jpg
I think it’s lyncanthropy. Senator by day. Flying pig troll by full moon night.
Not hot enough to burn your lips, even if it’s at 160F internal . . . skewer is only in there 5 seconds.
It’s a manly chef’s thang . . . *G*
I’d always used my tongue, but a French Chef trainded Cordon Bleu in Luzanne, Switzerland I worked for said the lip was the proper way . . . maybe he was fuckin with me, he was a pompous and arragont asshole at times.
*G*
Louis looks just like my dearly departed Elvis! That photo is wonderful.
It’s a prerequisite to LLN membership, right ? *g*
ha! i collect pigs but i wouldn’t touch that one with a 1,000,000 foot pole. not even for money
And your neighbors won’t complain or call the cops on you for that? you could fry Santa right out of the sky with that plus a pit bull or a sign that says beware the pit bull might be cheaper.
I just googled the question. Sounds like it is common practice in Japan but not in this country.
Sounds yummy ! What’s your take on Osho ?
THAT’s the guy!!! Thanks!
that would be from the oeuvre of our esteemed pal darkblack.
my pleasure
I shulda been in the Hatter Business I guess . . *G*
“Is this skewer hot?”
I thought the French preferred the Tongue …
Thanks! Just what I needed. Saved it to my hard drive to read several times. I like the idea of dry ageing, but I fear my fridge is not up to it.
Good nite all pups,
One must work for a living.
HE’S a good egg, too . . . *G* I thought I it looked like something he’d do . . . .
Oui!
i had thought about it friday — 4 of the 5 pulled teeth had caps on them — guess they just get tossed. of course at that point i had sharp metal objects and fingers in my mouth and couldn’t ask.
A swine flu quarantine sign maybe after all Joe seems so far to have killed healthcare.
Word is that these new Andrew Birds are magnificent.

Bye CE!
G’nite Christine !
How much you getting and how many are you cooking for?
Cuz I got a method of using the bbq, hard wood fire, that’s insanely delicious . . .*G*
ME? Chat about food?
Nice kitty!
Louis discovers the 3rd Law of Motion… and I’ll bet you thought it was that Newton fella.
Damn, overcooked again . . . sigh. ;-)
I’m afraid to ask anymore about any “manly chef thang.” Think I’ll test the roast on the inside of my wrist, too.
You are up LATE and up RIght and ROCKING!
I just love you rat…
You have a manly chef’s thong? Sounds risky. I recommend an apron in the front AND the back…
Should be eight for the dinner, so at least a five bone. I live in a condo with a tiny deck and my BBQ is a dinky smokey joe, so thats out.
hahahaha
You poor baby.
Ratfood, you still here?
One Of My Chief Engineers When I Was In Radio
Tesla Coils are kewl! *G*
Thank goodly for Jon Stewart…..some sense in this nonsensical world!
Aw shucks! (bats eyes… really SHOULD clean out that belfry)
That’d win my vote for best light display on my block…! ;-)
you’re going to have the butcher cut it off the bone and re-tie it for roasting, right?
FWDiva
he is on my must watch daily list — a very short list of him ko and rachel i must add
But here’s funny: the neocon twin brother and I had dinner together last weekend and it went well! We both now hate all politicians and found that we had nothing to fight about….so we just visited. Unanticipated consequences, dontcha know!
Yeah . . . . good point. *G* lol
friends commandeered (chartered) an SF cable car – the real deal – for caroling last weekend. It was pretty fun actually.
Can I ask you guys one blogwhorish thing?
If you would please, say 10, 12 of you, go and comment on my phonebank thing for tomorrow to keep it at the top of the Seminal Reader box, I’d appreciate it.
We have 4 callers scheduled for sure. I’d love to get it to 10. So I emailed Dave Sirota who has a local talk radio show here in the A.M. and it would be nice if it was still in the Seminal Box at that time so people could find where to join.
Thanks!
dang — dearie — that musta felt strange. glad it went well for ya.
Nice pics. I also like the irony of an electrical engineer who looks like he might be Amish… “g”
I’m not sure if that will be possible. The only reason I made the choice is that Costco started carrying them at a pretty good price.
i recommended it and commented
alton brown’s standing rib roast recipe with directions
Heh… Both Parties’ Pols are betrothed to their Corporate masters…! As brazenly pointed out today by the Senate Dems and Obama…! 8-(
That must have been fun. A pox on both their houses, let’s eat, drink and be merry!
*bows, and thanks the LLN Mistress*
Costco meat department was such a surprise……and such a delight!
My conservative sister and I have a similar situation. She detests all politicians but especially Democrats. I am the reverse. We both oppose the war in Afghanistan. We agree that the system is broken and pols in Washington have no interest in serving the common good. Mostly though, we don’t discuss politics.
Ah, a shame.
Still, consider this:
Use a deep roasting pan the size you need for your beast.
Add rough chop celery, onion, carrot, and whole cloves of garlic.
Add any extra fresh herbs to pan also, such as sage, bay leaf, thyme, basil, rosemary.
Season the beast as you choose, cut slits and stuff garlic in it, salt and pepper, Cajun rub.
Set beast on top of chopped veggies, and roast uncovered.
You can use the drippings to make au jus, or gravy.
Strain out veggies and reserve liquid to sauce pot.
For your size beast, add two cups red wine.
Bring to boil, and reduce by half for au jus, and season as desired.
For gravy, add some of the veggies (make sure to add some garlic cloves) and at half reduction, use hand held blender to thicken. Season as desired with s and p or herbs, etc. Whisk in small amount of sweet butter, for phat city phlavor!!!!
If yer making Yorkshires, use a standard muffin pan, 12 hole, and put one table spoon of drippings into each hole. Heat till it smokes, THEN pour your batter, and bake as directed.
Have fun, save wine for self, also!!! *G*
Yorkshire, with dri
Thanks for all the advice everbody but I’ve got to go. The browser is showing all the signs of locking up.
Yep. I like the boneless leg o lamb!
And pork loin roasts. Mmmmm
FWDiva
Crazy time, isn’t it! My neocon twin is getting his exit papers through his foreign born wife, and my kids and I are trying to figure out where we might get entre. Who would have thought, when we were ducking and covering as kids in the 50′s-60′s that we might actually maybe truly want to live in someone else’s country. Mind wrenching.
Tesla was such a brilliant (and scary) dood.
g’nite drouse
Leave it on the bone! Flavor in the bones, huge flavor!
g’nite drouse
Yep. Boneless is convenient but bone in has the flavor.
New Earth records has him My Color yoga teacher said I could find nice music on that site for meditation. His name popped up and described him as a man who strips folks of their facade. He is was an extremely enlightened teacher. Has albums from Lao Tzu insights on the Tao Te Ching, Kundalini meditations and talks He seems like what the Dem party needs.
My neocon twin and I have been tossing barbs at each other for the last 14 years or so…..wondering how we grew up in the same family…..and with just months of ObamaRahma we’ve come to some sense of self-preservation. Fighting each other was clearly just a shiney object.
yeah, tie the roast back onto the bone, roast, then untie for easier carving, that’s all.
Muy mucho flavoro in the bones. Great for the soup pot!!
FWDiva
Mr. Dyer is anything BUT Amish . . impish, yes. He’s a major loon and I say that with dear respect. What that man knows about STUFF, from electricity to autos to most of the trades is insane. One of the most gifted humans I ever met . . . made shit look easy, knew how not to get hurt and have fun with toys, too.
Haven’t seen him in 10 years . . . miss him . . . .
We have the same situation; but it’s my brother and my dad.
Strangely, I got my dad to vote Obama (I think) but my brother, no.
He’s a chief on a nuclear sub (for some reason I used to be able to know; he was formerly on the SSN New York City, an Ohio class sub, Gold Shift), but for some reason I’m not allowed to know now.
And he’s been “unavailable” for quite some time. It’s maddening.
Ditto . . . go get ‘em ya prog, Kelly!
Interesting with the set up and of course, the key here is a long, slow roast, as opposed to usual 425F or so roasting. Prime rib houses usually have slow cook ovens set at 160F. Delicious, but lacks the crusty thang.
Not a crusty thong, Rat, please, don’t go there . . . ;-)
No veggies or herbs in drip pan, plain sage? Eh.
No garlic on rib, canola oil? Use EVOO!
Just sayin . . . .
This Margot. I like her premise.
*G*
It’s a shame when politics divides families. In some cases there are valid reasons to prefer separation but politics should not be a factor.
Ok, NOW you got me goin . . . lamb leg!
Garlic!
Rosemary!
Sea salt!
Coarse ground black pepper!
Fresh squeezed lemon juice!
Hard wood fire!
YUMMERS!!!!!
i said it was alton’s recipe — not mine. *G*
i don’t think i’ve done a standing rib roast. my mom does a mean prime rib with pudding — she bakes it cause she knows its among my favorite foods.
Yes Ma’am!
I’m usually impervious to disturbing mental imagery but you actually made me wince. “g”
My son by a different Mother has a post up on CommonDreams.org for Sunday, Dec.13th. Evan Knappenberger, “The Betrayal of Generation Hope”.
I’m just not a computer person, couldn’t make it link.
PS, what’s on my mind.
Done.
I said over that that I would bring some pasto to go with your antipasto. Then if Mr. Scott brings some dilithium crystals we are all set.
You can pick rosemary in my backyard whenever ya want, mon!
FWDiva
dayam rat doncha know that just made larue’s night (wicked evil grin)
hey openhope — nice to see ya again.
hey spocko — how ya doing tonight?
Didn’t mean to say it was yer recipe . . .
You like the Yorkshire’s too?
*G*
Glad I could contribute to the disturbance.
*G*
love it — my mom does it freeform in the bottom of the roasting pan the last few minutes of the bake.
Yes. During the Clinton years they would bait me. “How’s your liberal ‘I did not have sex with that woman’ President doing NOOOOOWWWWW?”
And since they are experts at arguing and I didn’t like to argue they would win even if it was in the category of, “What’s the matter, can’t defend your guy?”
But I didn’t want to discuss Bush with them and his terrible reign. Now they will be asking how Obama is or is not fulfilling his “Hopey Chaney” promises.
Forget that the world of hurt we are in are caused by greedy people, mostly conservatives, the last 8 years didn’t happen, and “Bush kept us safe.” BS will be there.
You n me, with rosemary growing in our plots and pots!!
*G*
I sure love that herb . . . I’m sadly missing my home grown basil, now, too.
Never even got to make my pesto for the winter too, ate it all up in the summer!!!
Stupid!!! Like a grasshopper!!! *G*
ah, something to remember….kidding!
Okay. I’m still working on my Tea Party research.
Yorkshire pudding……yum!
Why, yes, yes it did.
Why do you ask? *blinks*
OOOOhhhhhhhhhh! One big Yorky? After the rib’s been pulled?
VERY interesting! I LIKE that idea!
Heh. Actually the rosemary grows in the landscaping at my condo complex. There’s a nice big one just steps from my patio.
Sorry about the pesto, though. My basil never makes it to pesto stage…
FWDiva
i brought back my huge rosemary plant when i was down in the bay area for nahant’s meetup. it is currently inside with the other frost tender plants — that one started out as a gift of remembrence when i retired from the pd from a fellow officer. was a tiny little thing and has grown in the 5 years since.
Used to go to House of Prime Rib on Van Ness once a year. Their Yorkshire was incredible with an end cut and a beer.
Hey, the pan and drippins are hot, so why not?!
bet it works for lamb, too…
Step 1: Tell them that the barbs bother you.
Step 2: If that doesn’t work wait for them to leave then pee in their sock drawer.
If you’re certain Step 1 is a waste of time, skip and go directly to Step 2.
You’re kidding, right? that stuff’s hardy. Honest!
FWDiva
Is that the stuff that’s more of a vinelike grow?
Mine’s the standard big needles stuff . . .
Ornamental Rosemary, they call it, I think . . . what you have? Lovely plumage and all that?
Mine does not flower.
Can you eat and cook with that variety?
Wow . . .
she mixes it up in a large glass measuring cup and then pours it on the bottom of the pan in the drippings near the very end of the roast cooking — sometimes she pours it in while the roast is resting. her recipe is like yours, just flour milk(or is it water) some salt…. i forget the rest of it — tis a non recipe recipe
Yeah, I’m missin all my fresh herbs, only the rosemary out there this time of year . . . sigh.
the large rosemary plant in the landlord’s garden froze to death last year. i’m not taking any chances.
Kewl! I love long lived plants and herbs!
Down here, my two are alive and well outside . . . your temps, not so likely!!!
I love clipping and using the fresh stuff . . . smells so fine and tastes so good!
I go away for an hour and you guys put up 200+ comments?
What a group!
Is Suzanne putting on a show or something?
afaik, it’s the regular stuff, upright with big needles. Some of our plants bloom, some don’t. I’ve suffered no ill effects from cooking with it. And it tastes right!
fWD
Lord, imagine a bone in lamb leg, and the yorky from THOSE drippins!!!
*smackslips*
Yep, always a bad sign if thongs make that velcro sound when you remove ‘em (I’m lookin’ at YOU, Larue “g”).
Rosemary grows like crazy. Mine flowers with pretty blue flowers. I cut branches to use as skewers and chop leaves. My plant is maybe 14 years old and grows in a big outside pot.
Oh man, as former professional cook…I think it sounds hot, and slippery.
Actually, the drippin is great from the boneless, too. Hot drippins in hot cast iron skillet, add dry, halved mushrooms, season and brown till crispy. Mmmmmm
Flour, egg, milk, some salt . . . a bit of some melted butter or bacon grease, just a bit.
time for me to head out — tweak two at the dds tomorrow
g’nite all — thank you so very much for sharing part your evening with me.
Thanks Suzanne. Sleep well.
Kewl!!!!! Lucky you!!!
Hmmm, rosemary pesto . . . . ?
*defiantblankstare*
Have I ever told you that I retain mental images of words? Retain them for a real long time?!
Velcro….
14 Years? Incredible!
Do you have to repot due to soil depletion?
Or do you just fertilize with something?
If I admit that the barbs bother me he sees it as a sign of weakness and a lack of the ability on my part to effectively state my case. He writes right wing editorials that the home town paper runs. He is very smart and a gifted argurer. I know not to engage him but there is the desire at times to try.
Back! Temp internet outage. Scouring for what I messed – brb
I and others had some moments in kitchens that resemble that . . . *G*
Night, Suzanne, sweet dreams.
Mmmmmmmm . . . killin me, love it . . .
Hey, YOU spent time with US.
Quality time, I might add ., . . ;-)
Small plant started out in large pot….never fed it. Rosemary goes crazy if not contained, so I wanted to contain it. Trim it in fall. Lovely.
I worked as a cook for a couple years in a really bad restaurant. We prepared some good food, just nothing that was ever served to customers.
Actually the prime rib was good. The pay was horrible, working conditions were worse but I managed to down about 300 lbs of prime rib one year. I was swallowing the last bite from a slice one evening when the owner walked back and said “Ratfood, we’ve got to watch the portions, we’re losing our ass!” Good times…
Heading out. Splendid evening to all.
Suzanne runs a damn fine salon, for sure!
Wow! Way kewl story!
I have on in 5 gallon pot, one year old or more, one same age I had in 2 gallon pot, that I transplanted to a back plot of 2 x 12 we have in our apt. It’s only 3 months in the ground, but holding well.
Will be interesting to see how long they fare, and how big they get!
Heh!
G’Night fair rattykins!
Skip to step 2. Maybe gorge on asparagus first…
Yes She Does.
But the inmates aren’t too awful either. :)
I find Rosemary does best if not contained. It’s a single root plant. But Rosemary does best with consistent pruning, imo.
LOL. Ah, there aren’t that many Good Restaurants, truth be known.
Do you have a sticker of Calvin peeing on a GOP logo on your car by any chance?
OK, don’t miss Stephen Colbert rockin’ it with Alicia Keys tonight!
The man’s actually a really good singer…knows the harmony for Star Spangled banner, and sings it accurately, a capella. A multi-talented guy, fer sure…

Dang. *G*
Suz, my rosemary plants made it through the last 2 winters in pots on my balcony, no protection.
Once I reached a level of cooking at home that surpased the food I could buy at a resturant I felt I could call myself a good cook.
Dude, thought you had left, will talk old steakhouse/prime rib shack stories with ya some other time!
Thanks for the yuks! Best to Bob, sleep well . . .
SPOCKO!
I’ve been thinking about you. You’ve got your media gig, which I applaud.
But I’ve been wondering if you’ve got bandwidth on the latest with the activism, since you’re in NoCal.
Do you have the bandwidth/ability to run one of these OneVoiceForChoice actions? NoCal seems so ripe…
But you do what you do so well.
Just asking if you could tuck one of these calling actions against Stupak under yer wing…
Best of dreams to ya, mon.

Wow, is that do able?! I’m feeling the same old despair that reared it’s ugly head in 2004 on Womens Rights. We vagina people are so fucked, faster then the citizens with dicks are going to be fucked, in our New Improved Health Reform.
Hey Kelly, right now I don’t think I can swing it. I’m working on some tea bagger stuff right now. But thanks for asking.
Shack Lacka Ding Dong
“This bill appears to be legislation that the president wanted in the first place, so I don’t think focusing it on Lieberman really hits the truth,” said [Sen. Russ] Feingold.”
get it – lieberman ain’t the decider – what liebertwat wants is what president hopey changey wants
Yeah, got it. It sure sucks, don’t it.
I just hate knowing my “maybe I can trust you” guy is a serial date-rapist. Or so under threat from the Powers That Be.
night all, sweet dreams.
