Slinkerwink of FDL Action and DailyKos is hosting a phone bank in Austin this afternoon to stand up for choice in the health care bill. She’s a fellow Austinite, so I paid her a visit.
Says Slink:
I’m running this phonebanking event because I want to make sure that the Stupak language isn’t in the final Senate bill. Our reproductive rights shouldn’t be some football for the Democrats in Congress to play with for the votes of conservative Democrats. People can help stop this disturbing trend of trading away Democratic principles by joining in with our phonebanking events at FDL.
The information for the Austin phone bank is here.
They’ll be working the phones here until 5:00PM central, so there’s plenty of time to come down and help us fight for choice.

sorry, it’s not working.
Thank you Blue Texan! We’re phone banking in Mar Vista and calling into Maine. Voters are very receptive, grateful for the information, and happy to add their name to a list of voters who want their congressman to vote for a final health care bill that’s free of the Stupak ban.
Hey I’ll be in Austin for the holidays 17th to the 29th. Any phonebanks happening during those times?

So, BT, will you have an update telling us about voters reactions to calls?
(embarrassed to say I couldn’t make the Austin event, well, events overtook today, anyway.)
Is it possible to make calls on one’s own, from home? My transportation is iffy for long-distance, and my home is in no shape for groups to work in. But I’d like to do more than sign petitions.
