From A Charlie Brown Christmas — Christmas Time Is Here.
What’s on your mind?
ZED!!
Now off to ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
evening suz & pups
hey and g’nite nahant
hey sunny — how ya doing tonight? is it brrrr cold there?
Suzie-Q…!
A drive-by zedding, eh nahant…? 8-P
Don’t know what the mayor of Arlington, TN, is bitching about. “A Charlie Brown Christmas” is right here…. :)
aloha ct — how’s the mt tonight?
hehehehe hey montag — i just added another layer
Hi Suz, Sunny, CT, everyone. Great cartoon!
High humidity is keeping all the domes closed… I’m hoping they’ll keep us up here so I can afford some Xmas gifts…! ;-)
hey margot — how’s ohio tonight?
Christmas time is here, indeed — we had our first snow in VA today :-)
that would be a good thing ct. how’s life treating ya off the mt?
oh yay! first snow means it is christmas time. hey ll
Aloha, Margot and LL…!
i hear that ct — i could use some extra $$$ for the holidays myself…. as could most of us i reckon
Could always be better, but, hanging in there…! ;-)
Oh Suz, it was really beautiful — loved watching the snow falling all day long. I didn’t have to go anywhere, so I stayed in. And this is going to sound stupid, but even though I have a brand-new Subaru with all wheel drive, I was hesitant to take it out for a spin because I was afraid of the typical DC area drivers — didn’t want some idiot sliding into my new ride ;-)
Aloha CT!
g’evening Suze & pups!
I wanted to stop by and thank everyone for the lovely e-card! It sure brightened my spirits going into surgery. They cleaned the sludge out of my eye, and alas, they found a new tear and beginning of detachment lurking under the sludge. phooey. So i still can’t see because i’ve got a huge air bubble in my eye holding the new surgery in place. gah.
(((ndfg)))
watching snow from inside and not having to be anywhere or go do anything is wonderful ll.
((( ndfg ))) So sorry you’re having to endure this…sending positive and healing thoughts!
I hope it doesn’t take the 2 mos. to dissipate the eye patch, Ma’am…! I wish ya a speedier recovery…! *g*
32 going for 27… but toasty inside.
Thermostat setting: profligate/wasteful.
*hand on monitor*
it is 28 outside and the really cold air isn’t supposed to arrive until tomorrow.
the fire has it a comfy 72 near the stove. need go get some fans to move the air around so the rest of the room gets the warmth too.
30 here Sunny, and the snow is over; hopefully we’ll be free of the icy stuff by the time I have to head out in the morning. Did you have any snow down your way?
(((ndfg))) Thanks for letting us know.
Sending super healing vibes.
anyone have their christmas tree yet?
Heh, Everybody keep their eyes peeled…! ;-)
I’ll try to break out my fake tree and see how the kitteh reacts — past experience tells me that it might not be such a good idea ;-)
Hi, late niters. Chilly here in S. Tex., too- actual below-freezing nights most of the week; about 42 most of today.
No snow, though. Drat. It went right around us and fell on Houston instead.
Oh well. I know my anticipation probbly seemed excessive, but as a kid in Indiana and Pa., many of my best kid-memories are winter-based. You know, snow angels, buidling snow forts, making (and throwing) snowballs, even once, when the snow reached 3 feet and school was cancelled, helping build an igloo. Ice skating, indoors and out. Sledding.
And of course, trudging to school and back. As very little girls, since pants were of course forbidden schoolwear, we wore button-on or zip0-on leggings. Which of course, the poor teachers had to help take off and put on again in the afternoon. (Gawd, I am old, huh?)
Anyway, I love snow. Have been lucky enough to have public transportation for most of the years I needed to go to work…tho’ there’s a horror story from Oklahoma that includes battery dying 100 mi. from home in blizzard.
I put in new weatherstripping on all my windows today. This last year the house has shifted considerably, leaving visible gaps at the bottom of several windows. Finally got around to it, and it’s much more comfortable tonight, even with thermostate a bit lowere.
Of course, two heater kitties on lap help, too. Two remain on top of fridge, because kitchen heat vent is near ceiling, and that’s warmest spot in the house. Can hardly budge them.
i’m fading fast here, so off to bed to heal some more.
MWAHH! lurrvv you Pups.
mit won yet they don’t list where those 10 locations were *pout*
Hi Suzanne, SunnyNobility, LoudounLib, NDFG, CT, Margot, and everyone.
Looks like showdown weekend for health care. Gonna be interesting.
brrrrrrr
Lurrrv you too ndfg, sleep well!
hey wigwam… what’s your take on how this is playing out?
Hey wigwam, yep — I’m sure I’ll be tuning in to C-SPAN in the coming days.
Oh, ndfg (post first, read after ) I hope you feel better!
(((ndfg))). Take care of yourself.
Suzanne, was that snark @37? You’re a lot colder there than I am here.
Holy Shit!!!!
not snark — i saw the pics of houston on the news tonight and it looked like the folks down in tx aren’t used to below freezing temps for that long.
Got our lil table fresh model Wednesday, it’s decorated, lights are up inside and out, wreath’s on the doors outside, and we’ll, honey got it feelin like XMAS . . . *G*
I’ll take a pic and post in a day or two . . . . ;-)
larue — dood — how’s your maters?
Well, finally Obama seems to think it’s time to do something…
Too little, too late…?
Gotta go pups, working OT on Sunday at 11 AM — g’night all, and thank you Suz!
i’m looking forward to seeing it — i’m still debating whether or not to do a tree
g’nite ll
Email her way, dang, lost her . . . oh well.
Like everyone, wishin her wellest and best eyes forever and as soonliest as possible.
That’s a good gal . . . she deserves a break, dammit . . .
jeez louise
will he finally say wtf he desires in the bill?
Sounds nasty. What’s the prognosis?
Hugs to you, ndfg.
Just drizzle – ice on streets tomorrow, but will melt off.
No complaints.
Oh yes, cosset that car ’til you wear the new off.
Heh, But it was only ten…! What’s up you old fart…? Didn’t see ya at the Beach Haus earlier…! Cassie popped in…! ;-)
hey loohoo how’s socal tonight?
Still growin! Lil Pear ‘Maters, in the ground, still sproutin and being et! Bigger n any of the ones we had in pots all summer we had, and what I had in the back 40!!!
Go figger . . . . . come spring, that back 40 is gonna get all basil seeds and nothin else for a summer.
Maybe then it will support better n bigger maters . . .
Heh, remember the PO is only one sliver…! *gah*
Rachel covered that on geek. Look forward to her take tomorrow.
LOL – I had forgotten all about that song. Thx.
So, I just now read this over at Dkos. It appears that the Dem leadership is still courting Olypia Snowe and that she is interested in being courted because her stand on things ain’t playing so well in Peoria, or in Maine.
It looks like they are trying to give her a face-saving way to back off by shifting control of the public option from HHS to OPM (Office of Personnel Managemnt), which administers the federal employee health plans. That still sounds like a guvamint-run plan to me, but maybe she can insist its a victory.
But then again, perhaps this is all kabuki and I’m missing the “inner game” where we the public are getting screwed royally by all concerned. I have a lot of faith in their ability to fool me, but it’s always in the same direction.
That’s how they hold it in place? Wow. Heal fast!
Been wantin to say this forever and a day . . . now’s the time.
GET A TREE! BRING IT INSIDE! PUT SOMETHING ON IT!
Put the cat on it, for all I care. OR the dog!
Just DO something.
You’ll feel better and you’ll like the smell and the cat can shred it for YOUR entertainment, too.
Lotta ways you can go with this, but the past is over, time for your new XMAS Tree Future, it’s here, it’s now.
Get. The. Fuckin. Tree. Put it up.
Smile.

If his goal is to save the public option, probably so. If, however, his goal is to sink it, which I suspect to be the case, he has plenty of time left.

*considering*
I swear the real beneficiaries will be the HMO’s after all is said and done…! 8-(
Too true…!
Only takes ten for a bad reaction!!!
I been off the toobz today . . . . I’m sure I missed somethin somewhere . . . *G*
Me n honey been dancin round the xmas tree and missletoes and decorating and my cooking . . . . and blue and new grass!
Damn I’m a spoilt hooman . . . . *G*
you support this?
;-) Out of the simplest things, FAIL SAFE re emerges in one form or another . . . .
I don’t think much has changed . . . lol
wondering if roy beck is related to glen
Christmas decorating tomorrow – dragged most of it in from the garage, but didn’t get a lot put up. Had to get batteries for my new door wreath with battery-operated lights pre-attached. Bought it after Xmas last year dirt cheap; it better work.
Putting up the creche (mine is a muuuuuch cheaper Target version, but looks similar) on a high place, with museum putty holding in place. Worked well last year; kittehs
can’thave to work harder to knock pieces off.Damn, that’s a good idea. Definitely take time off the tube and the toobz; celebrate instead.
It’s 20 and calm here, a good temp to snuggle up with the dog.
*WAFFLER*
Broke down and turned on the heat. Hoping for some more rain tonight, Suz. Still way too dry.
Neither one of them could pick a fuckin decent Freeway Jam or For Your Love if that matters, and to me it does.
‘Kin bastards.
oooo sounds like fun tejan. all my xmas stuff was lost in the move to the cabin on the mt. christmas decorating always made me thing of years past, when the girls were little…. decorating is a meld of the ghost of christmas past, christmas present and christmas future. always wanted more stuff (laughing)
(whispering) suggest scrolling by and ignoring…..
tonights gonna be a dog and cat night
Honey woiked 4 10′s this week and for the next couple, to have 3 day weekends.
We likin its!!! *G*
That site seems to have some mixed signals going on… For instance…
Say what…?
This is what I’m going to do: Go get a cheap $20 4-foot tree at Family Dollar, but get some real pine boughs to bring in, for the scent. Less shedding, cheaper, and I’ll have it next year.
Hey pups! Looks like we’re going to
GET some rain here.
A great night to stay indoors and rustle up a little
TREEt
the only thing better than working 4 10′s and getting 3 days off is working 4 11′s and getting 4 days off. loved that shift. 4 on 4 off. 8 day (work) week
hey eg — if it was raining here — it would be snowing (grin) what kinda treet you gonna rustle?
Tree. Stand. Water n some sugar.
Cheap strand of mini lights ($5.99) in multiple colors.
TinFoil Wrap Shaped Pointy Top.
Can and dog to whine, moan, piss and bitch about it all being in THEIR space.
You? Free pet theatre.
Shut up and decorate.
Yer killin me . . .
;-)
I’m trying to get the better half to go along with that very same thing except I told her I’d get a can of pine scent…! Not looking very promising…! ;-)
I’m going to do a mondo arrangement of huge branches stuck in a decorated 5 gallon bucket with rocks in it.. Artistic pruning.
F$#k the $35 dollar tree, we pay rural prices. The money can be better spent. That’s a lot of change in the Salvation Army tins. Or community soup kitchens.
But the scent of fresh cedar, fir, pine…priceless. And you get to commit to the “favorite ornaments” so the rest can go to the thrift shop by Dec.10th while people still want them.
Snow ice cream
Best animated Christmas special ever. Even better than the Grinch.
would need tinsle. real ornaments (what color do i get — should i get traditional glass or should i get cheap plastic cause of the critters?). and that’s just the start of the questions
hey open hope — how’s washington state tonight?
OUtside of FDL, yer off 24/7, so you don’t get a vote anymore . . .
And boy am I JEALOUS about that . . . .*G*
N so’s honey and all the woikin stiffs everwhere.
Put up the tree . . /s
oooooh i’ve never heard of snow ice cream before eg
hey earl — how ya been?
Yay, you’re still back – snoopy dance!
….and you’ve got your blog jump-started. OK.
well when i was working that shift was the good ole days. now i’m retired and my check is a whole lot smaller :) love that not having an alarm clock tho
For your new tree, cafepress makes dog and cat ornaments. Some for Bailey, some for Token.
Heh, just avoid the yellow snow…! ;-)
Aloha, Eg… It’s been awhile since I’ve crossed threads with ya…!
I like making wreaths and have a huge pine tree overhanging my yard in the back, so I can get branches.
I like having a pine centerpiece with apples and oranges in the middle on the table.
Hmm, I’m pretty sure I want to say bless ya OpenHope, and best to you and yers . .
Nothing like the smell of fresh pine needles and sap . . . even if it’s only 3ft tall.
Purrrrrrrfect for an apt, a cat, and a lil puppy . . . .
Well, there IS the sounds of good harmonies and great pickin and the smell of garlic and basil and stocks waftin thru the place . . *G*
Oh, n hot SPICY mulled wine . . . any one want a recipe, me and honey got one that will knock yer socks off.
Sadly, gotta make the syrup reduction first, before ya get to the final sippin . . . . woith it, thoh!!!
*waves*
Oooh, that is so sad.
Lost a bunch of mine years ago (still think about the pretty little glittery doves…oh well).
Most of what I have is easily replaceable, but there are a few handmade things, including the tree skirt, and the creche (not very old, but I really like it), and a few snow scene houses that light up (yeah, I know, corny, but these are really nice. Licensed by the Museum of the City of New York, maybe based on Currier & Ives, dunno).
I’m a sucker for miniature houses and figures and props.
No you don’t.
*WAFFLER*
(this is gonna take all night long, ain’t it . . . )
do i wanna do color and if so what color for ornaments? or do i wanna get iridescent and crystal?
I’m very big on color. Maybe something iridescent for the top, a super star?
Worst sound in the world for folks who are not morning people, no matter WHAT shift we prefer, agreed.
i had enough stuff i could do the tree 3 ways… white lights color lights old fashioned bulb lights and a gazillion ornaments. stuff from when the girls were babies. and ceramic stuff i made. all the chawch-kees and paper chains and bells.
Hey Larue did you go to the health care reform event today? I was just way too tired.
Next time.
Oh, those are cute.
I picked up some shatterproof gold balls today.
Picked ‘em up from the cashier and promptly dropped the bag.
Cashier’s eyes got wide — “They’re shatterproof!” I said, and she laughed.
The critters aren’t the only ones prone to breaking things around here.
We’ve had so much rain this fall that it makes these high winds and cold we’re having a concern. Big trees sitting in mud with a strong wind that’s not a prevailing wind. Basically, hitting the trees from the side their skinny roots are on, not the side their deep strong ones are developed on.
I don’t like these winds. But I must say, w don’t loose power as quickly and as long as we used to. Guess we’re not in the boonies anymore!
*STILLWAFFLIN*
Sigh . . . . .
I’ll be getting a 6-7′ tree tomorrow before the storm hits. Lights and decorations over the fireplace and around the living room. Already recording the great Christmas movies to watch with a blazing fire. I save the tree branches from the previous Christmas to use as kindling
Trying to convince Spence that watching the fire while under the tree is better than eating the tree. His look told me the jury is still out (at best.)
hey mary mcc — are ya bundled up?
yup
I’ve got a ton of stuff that the kids have made over the years, some with pics of them and all… My wife always gets sentimental when we’re decorating the tree…! ;-)
Clock says 11, body says 2am.
I’m countin on you pups to help Suzanne with the rest of her new tree. G’nite all!
Aw, paper chains and bells? Love those. Seem to recall having some of those in my family when I was very small and folks were poor. sometimes even a popcorn chain…very little house on the prairie.
It’s a shame about losing ones from your kids’ childhoods. It’s the sentiment much more than the “value,” always, when things disappear. And moves are just the time when sentimental things vanish.
Well, yeah, I went through a period where I was pretty much disgusted with everything, and, as well, didn’t think I had anything novel or unusual–or even pertinent–to say that others hadn’t already chewed and digested.
In the meantime, just gadflying in the comments of other blogs…. :)
Nope . . . . maybe we can get John in Sac to brief us?
I’m thinkin, I’d like to meet that guy, with you . . .
And see what we can do . . . he’s been at it locally HARD, for a long while.
I’m respectin him . . . and easing into it all thru him would suit me well . . . .
He’s provin himself to me, as a local. I perceive he’s got ‘bonafides’ so ta speak . . . . .
I like meeting folks off the side and listening to them before I jump into stuff . . . .
Aloha, Eg…! *g*
*BELGIANWAFFLIN*
i hated that worried feeling when i lived at the cabin. sandy soils all around that loved to slide. i’ve had much less worry about that kinda stuff and a lot less power failures since i moved up here.
*G*
Wife does, huh?
Sounds like you’re not ready to shift to a non-real tree. This is my first time. Last year we blew off the fucking tree and it was great!! But I missed the smell,a few lights and a few ornaments to catch the light.
I’m into this groovy new space where I like to travel lighter. *g*
thanks eg — i think (laughing) g’nite
What, Suz…? No LQQK…! ;-)
yep. me and the dog, Suki. And the new kitah, Tucker. Ron is in the other room snoring with Wally The Best Dog Ever. It is cold but we have our new heating system given to us my the Community Resource Project. They got some of the their funds from the stimulus program. We are getting a new stove and three new windows in the next week. If anybody needs this kind of help and are in Cali your city has a plan. Look up the federal weatherization program and follow the trail back to your community. I think a lot of other states have it, too.
hey emerson — i used that love video thurs nite dood
He is a very nice man. We went to a aclu meeting together last year.
But of course only her…! Wha… You don’t believe me…? ;-)
yup
and then i gotta get what i buy upstairs and inside. the doors here are very narrow. if i get a tree table i gotta get a table to put it on.
trying to be nice — santa’s bringing me teeth this friday and i don’t wanna fork that up
You could always hang it from the ceiling. :)
My ex used to insist on getting a real tree the day after Thanksgiving – pouted if we didn’t get it that day, as big as would fit in the house. Big deal to him.
But as prices rose, even he gave in and we bought an artificial tree. The real thing just costs way too much for something that will only be around a month or so.
Truth be told, my allergies are a lot calmer with a fake tree, too – my chief allergies are tree pollens!
I buy lots of pine and balsam and spruce-scented candles and burn ‘em through the season.
Ron, Amy and I are going to New Orleans for Christmas. Sara is staying here. She has to work.
I’ve always loved the little wooden (or maybe they’re paper mache’) apples. Tree looks so pretty with them. Need more!
oh yay mary mcc! what a relief for you
Right on, Mary…! That’s awesome…! I’d heard that they’re really being proactive on that program…! ;-)
My cat will destroy a tree. That’s my position and I’m sticking with it.
A lil 3 ft tree can be had for even the wildest and madcap travelin gypsy . . . *G*
A very nice present. Useful presents are good once you’re a grown-up, arent’ they?
down to see the family?
Yeah, I know what you mean. We lived 6 years on a sand bluff 18 feet away from a 150 foot cliff overlooking a channel with strong currents.
My heart would stop every time my husband or son would ride the mower all the way to the frigging edge so they wouldn’t have to weed-eat it.
is a worry — haven’t had a tree since before i got bailey cat and token. neither one of them has had that experience.
g’evening! I can’t read all those comments to catch up – you guys are quite prolific tonight!
*laughing* i musta listed warm socks about 6 times of the list the girls had me write.
hey pellora — ndfg was in for a bit to say thank you –let me also say thank you for doing that
I certainly wouldn’t question that! Real or artificial, the kittehs love to climb them. When my current crew were kittens (nearly all one litter, so all young at the same time) I just didn’t bother with either. Would’ve been prying little furry critters off the tree 24/7.
It is funny how much I have found out about getting help from the government. I have lived so many different kinds of lives. Poor. Almost Rich. Medium Secure. I liked having money better but have learned to live in a way that makes me feel rich. Corny, I know. Being alive makes me feel wealthy. So do my kids.
Hmmm . . . think I should send you an email . . . and I will!!! *G*
Always good to see yer here or anywhere sharin the good stuff . . . .
Let’s chat.
A healhty attitude. Glad to hear you’re getting new windows and heating system.
Weatherization is a great use for stimulus funds, anywhere, any climate (except maybe Hawaii?)
Yes. My mom says she thinks it will be the last time we all see her and my dad fully competent.
Alright! Sorry I missed that one, but it’s been a busy week. And I vote you get the tree, Suz!
Ooh, That’s what I forgot to do at the Beach Haus…! Mahalo nui loa, Pellora…! *g*
Cats in trees – had that. Kidlets in trees – had that too. Real trees – for a long time. Then artificial – Save The Trees. Then planted a blue spruce in backyard, put some lights in it, and that’s my tree now. Leave lights on year round – very pretty. Have some of those wire and reed deer with lights back there too that I light in winter. Especially pretty with snow, but nice anytime.
Oh, that sounds sad.
Does she really have reason to believe that?
I know my mother has been taking me around to show me where her safe deposit box and bank accounts and paid-up cemetery plot deed are on every visit since she was 80 or so. Now 91….
i was hoping to get down to see mom and stepdad this year but teeth have to be paid for :) mom agrees — teeth are more important this year
et tu emerson?
Well, late night pups, this conversation has really got me in the Christmas mood. Better go off to sleep now; tomorrow afternoon (I’m officially old, now) I’m off to see “The Nutcracker.”
Sleep well and warm, all.
*aargh* The Badgers are cleaning my Warriors’ clock… 37-3 late in the 4th…! 8-(
Aloha, TJ…!
g’nite tejan — nutcracker is wonderful — enjoy
ducks going to the rose bowl
My parents are 81 and 83. They lost their house in Katrina and moved to MS and then moved back to New Orleans. It really took a toll on them. My mom can tell they are both starting to slow way down. It is very hard to communicate with them on the phone. She is very hard of hearing. My dad has always not been good on the phone. He is getting inappropriate in a certain kind of way. He is a very conservative person.
My brother and sister and I are talking about the car issue now.
Against Ohio I think!
Sorry about your team CT. Bummer.
I loved what the Tide did to the Gators…! They busted out the kryptonite on Tebow today…! ;-)
I can’t imagine not decorating a tree for Christmas. Let your creative and artistic side fly. I think it’s my most creative time of the year.
oh mary — how difficult this trip must be for you. so many conflicting emotions….
I’m thinking that I really don’t need too much of this stuff anymore. The kids have flown the coop. The days of Christmas Magic were some of the best in my life, though we always kept them modest. On principle. If you wanted a big ass present that would be your birthday, under review.
not my warriors.. i’m a blazer fan now — and greg odem is out for the season with a fractured knee cap in the 1st quarter tonight (per the news guy). i don’t watch the games just follow via the sports reporter on the teevee.
i’m blocked because i don’t have anything to be creative with. beause i would have to buy stuff and i h-a-t-e spending my money on me.
I hope Masoli has a breakout game against the Buckeyes…! ;-)
Seeing your parents age makes you realize how old you really are. This is both ok and unsettling.
You didn’t pack any into the ‘Pod’…?
Go spend twenty dollars on lights. Just do it. Have a great time plastering all kinds of silly things on plants. It is fun.
Now I am going to bed. See you all later. Have fun!!!
I know the feeling about aging parents. My mom is doing well at 77. But my dad is not so good – many years of rheumatoid arthritis and heavy duty medications have finished off his kidneys (he gets dialysis now 3 days a week, 3 hours each time), and then he had to have heart surgery 2 years ago. We’re watching him get more frail by the month, sometimes by the week. He’s 80. We’re very lucky he made it to 80 too. Sad – but we’ll all get old. We can only try to stay as healthy as possible in doing so.
between my mom and my girls i’m feeling pretty forking old. mom is 75. jen is 32. cant even call myself the mom of a teen since stephanie will turn 21 on 12/23
The car issue is a big issue… I remember when my Mom took the keys from Grandma… It wasn’t pretty…! 8-(
We had a potluck party tonight for a group of volunteers who put together a fundraiser for a local family. Kind of an “after hours” celebration. The recurring comment was how lucky we were to have the luxury of living simply together, laughing, enjoying food, feeling safe in each other’s company. Sometimes it just comes down to food, conversation and laughter.
My oldest is 35. wtf? How did that happen?
Oh, I think once a year would be alright. *g* And you still get to buy and wrap critter presents.
Yes. I love that kind of thing.
Aloha, mary…! *g*
all my xmas stuff was in a box that was lost when i moved to boulder creek.
g’nite mary mcc
Oof, two moves ago, eh…?
yup. haven’t done anything xmas (other than buying and wrapping gifts) since 2003 — the christmas before i bought the cabin.
Nuh, nuh nuh….not trying to dissuade you. Prolly get me drummed out of LLN – shiver. And I’m sure your critters are far better behaved than mine is.
I’m into fabulous wide wired ribbons that get tied on the picture frames and mirrors and a big fat live wreath over the fireplace. Everything red and gold. The wreath gets beeswax moravian candles with red frills and a huge bow.
I understand the lack of interest in spending money. Have you no Cheap Shops where you are? I’m thinking a creative person can do a Holiday Creation for $5 if they have pruners,a bucket from the bakery dept. of your local market, a good thrift store and the will to make this happen.
I’m not sure I’ve got the will.
oooh that sounds so pretty sunny. and it won’t get ya drummed outta lln (laughing)
My parents are now 85 and 82. They are very active and still quick mentally. But, my dad fell this week and we think he may need surgery to clear out his carotid artery. He’ll see a specialist Thursday and then he/we will decide.
It happened when you weren’t looking, obviously! ; )
I have three boys 28, 26 1/2, and the baby is 19! eek. Middle boy is now married, just this summer, to nice girl 26 1/2. oh my!
fingers and toes crossed it all goes well emerson.
and i’m not sure i have the energy. i’ve got holly with a gazilion berries i could prune and bring inside but … i tend to be a klutz and would probably end up on the blackberry thorns in the patch under the holly.
Heh, before the ‘moneypit’…! ;-)
My oldest is 21 and knee deep in love. Boy, am I learning how needed and yet irrelevant a parent is in the next era. It’s all good!
Jeez, am I glad we did the March For Choice in DC, got involved with NARAL and the young women from Planned Parnthood when she was young and feeling awkward. She’s so comfortable getting health care from Planned Parenthood now that she’s a woman. I really hope we all regain our stamina and defeat the Stupak amendment.
For our youngbloods.
Thanks Suzanne. We’re all confident because this isn’t the first time he’s been through these sorts of things. The doctors have always said he’s as strong as a horse. So we feel if his long=time doctor is offering this as an option, he must think he’s up to it.
Thanks for that. My cat is a genius, but that just means that if he wants to do something, his execution is flawless. And what he chooses to do is often very naughty.
When in doubt…..fuck it!!! *g*
Ooh, It looks like I’m gonna be in luck… We just put out the cut-off buttons for the laser and it’s cleared up significantly…! Momma may get those new shoes after all…! ;-)
*sigh* i really thought that was gonna be my forever place — and yet i don’t regret selling and moving. it was right when i bought it and it was right when i sold. other than that whole housing market crashing…. i blame my irish side for losing money in housing in ca
i’ve got two speeds: zero and fuck it (according to a sticker teddy gave me at nahant’s meetup)
I was telling ya back then it was tanking, didn’t I…? ;-)
by then i had no choice — being retired 5 years early caused an automatic 12 and 1/2% hit to my pension cause i was 50 and not 55.
as i said… double irish
That sounds great!
Heh, if it wasn’t for bad luck, you’d have no luck, eh…? ;-)
My boys are 26 and 18. Where did the years go?
yup — tis our family credo
My oldest girl is 25, with my middle’un 17, and, my son is 15…!
jen is 32 — so far i’ve got the oldest kid (now that mary mcc went to bed)
Heh, my family’s is… “What doesn’t kill ya only makes ya stronger…” ;-)
i’m so forking sick of getting strong….
Excellent! And I hope we get rid of the Stupak Amendment and stop what’s his name from putting one just like it in the Senate version. The stoopid old men who are trying to tell women what to do. Argh! #%@&*#!!!
Emerson, wishing your dad the very best.
We don’t have a pension. We’re so fucked in the near future ….whenever that is. And yet, a person doesn’t really need much. Single Payer Healthcare and a simple diet would do.
We’re lucky coming from the hippie communal house era. We wouldn’t have a problem deciding to get room mates if push came to shove. My parents and their generation can’t do that.
I wonder – when are we *strong enough* ??? I’d like to think we can get to that spot sometime before we die.
Stupid old men. Whack their PeePees !!!!
me too *sigh* i sure would like to know what an easy life was like (laughing)
although i start thinking like that and then i start thinking how lucky i have been and much worse off things could have turned out.
crap.. can’t find a utube of cheech and chong’s bailiff whack his peepee
Thank you, Sunny. I’ll pass that along when I see him Monday.
Mercifully, the game is over 51-10 Badgers…! *#@%&!!! Well, time to get ready for next season…!
bout time for me to head off. thank you for all the conversations tonight.
g’nite all
Aloha, Suz…! Don’t let the bed bugs bite…! ;-)
Best of luck for your Dad…! *g*
Oh shit! That’s a whomping. *shock*
Thanks Margot. It’s manageable and suits the way I (try to) live now – quite sparely.
Thank you CT. I’ll pass along the positive vibes! *g*
All good thoughts for your Father. It’s tough.
Thank you openhope. Very much appreciated.
Time to turn in. G’nite all.
Aloha, emerson…! *g*
g’night Emerson. Bestest to your dad and you kids too! Be well.
This is truly sickening…
Reid had better not be counting on HoJo (I-Aetna)… I hope there’s a special ring of hell reserved for him…!
Oh man. Everyone’s going to bed and I feel like being a rowdy little bitch.
You can be bitchy with me when I get back in in an hour…! ;-)
Out to the cold, huh CT? Don’t envy you that… the beaches yes, the sunny day top of the mountain view yes. The cold at midnight and early morning no. g’night. See you again soon. g’night openhope! Raise some hell!
Please, I do not wish to be bitchy. I wish to be a rowdy bitch.
Heh, how’s about being a randy bitch…! They called us in for about 20 mins…! Oo-wee it’s brisk out there…! 20-30 mph gusts…
Okay, here’s a rowdy little bitch thought. I’m interested in making very public the names of the men who had the vote to fuck over women. Through Law the Stupak Amendment. Woman=Vessel;FOREVER . I want to take these men down next election. I’m really hoping that the commenters who say they’re not going to vote, they’re fucking just going to pull the blankies over their heads are just troll activity.
Being a rowdy bitch I’ve thought about what it’s like to be a troll.Since the GOP is hiring. I’m thinking the easy -to-spot one’s are the diversion. They’re in all the threads these days. The common tool. The other ones are more difficult to acknowledge. They’re more familiar and comfortable.
Good morning. Anyone up?
Aloha, Ma’am…! How’s the weather in New York…?
