Hey, don’t blame me, I’m just quoting one of my Senators, the grand boob of twittering Chuck Grassley.
…if you’re trying to make a case that I’ve lived off the public tit all these years, I think you’re saying correctly in the years I’ve been in the Congress
And those tax-funded mammaries for prominent Republicans are one thing, but the idea that something like the public option exist for you, the American public? Why that’s “udderly” ridiculous.
For Broderesque dreams of austerity are for thee, and thou are not a Republican:
…the Secret Service has been bowing to pressure by some protectees such as Mary Cheney, Dick Cheney’s daughter, who insisted that agents take her friends to restaurants. That is not the job of the Secret Service, and when agents refused she got her detail leader removed by Secret Service management.
And there’s ample reason people like the daughter of a guy who is no longer in the government need protection…they’re rich and have more worth protecting than you:
The former vice president is splitting his time among his houses in Virginia, in Wyoming and on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, with a place at each for working on his memoir, to be published in the spring of 2011.
Guarding those man-sized safes and disposing all those bodies takes a lot of personnel.

That feeding on the public tit called congressional health insurance doesn’t come up in right wing tirades against government takeover of health care, somehow. When Kay (Ba’al E.) Hutchison promises to protect her constituents from the takeover, strangely, she does not explain why that protection is not extended to her own government health care. Maybe the secret service will bring on the protection from treatments she might need.
I saw Sen. GrASSley’s appearance on WJ. He seemed quite pissi-fied that someone would question his right to suckle at the public tit. We don’t have representative government. We have royalty. Deserving of a lifetime of luxurious living paid for by their serfs.
WTF, why the hell is Cheney’s hell-spawn deserving of secret service protection?
Here’s the real money quote from Darth Chenee…
D’oh… Who won Tricky Dick…? Somebody has to apologize for the mess you created…!
Here’s another reason why the ‘surge’ won’t work…
That on top of a corrupt Govt. does not bode well…!
I think Cheney was only entitled to six months of Secret Service protection. But he asked Obama to extend the coverage at the same time he was criticizing him in acerbic, dishonest terms.
Darth should be being protected by a slew of prison guards
Good morning, pups. It’s Dowd and Friedman today. Poor MoDo. In “Who’s Sari Now?” she says the breaching of the White House wall by Michaele and Tareq Salahi serves as a prism to examine our society, our president and our values. Gasp!!! What she didn’t know was this wasn’t the first time, as Henry Morgenthau, III explains. The Moustache of Wisdom, in “This I Believe,” says nation-building in Afghanistan is just too expensive, when balanced against our needs for nation-building at home right now. Hmm… He’s apparently only all gung-ho for nation building when a Republican is in office.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got Thomas’ English muffins (mine are dripping with melted butter) and your favorite jam. I don’t feel strong enough to consider the horror that is the Cheney family this morning, so I’m going off to feed the porch cats. Have a great day.
I feel that “feeding at the trough” is a better metaphor.
You’re right. Once they get their trotters in the trough it’s damn near impossible to pry them out.
Morning all.
That twerpy Mike guy from politico was talking about Jane on AM Scab.
929 US military
236 UK military
367 other military
And who the fuck knows how many civilian deaths caused by the US invasion of Afghanistan and now Oh Bummah! wants to kill a few hundred more so he can what? Get his jollies like Bush, pay off his MIC masters, avoid doing the right thing, distract from the giveaways to big pharma and the insurance industry, extract a promise from Lieberman to blow him in the WH? Or does he enjoy the public tit so much that he thinks he can get more votes with a war than he can with comprehensive health care?
Politico and AM Scab are about like watching PeeWee Herman, wasted air space in my experience.
And as payback for making me think about the Cheney family, treat yourself to The Pasty Little Putz’s blog at the “newspaper” of “record.” I dare you.
On edit — You can tell him what you think in comments. It’s not much of a reward, I know, but better than nothing.
Mika’s dad was supposed to be on and I was hoping for more fireworks.
Making the insufferable work – maybe Mika’s dad has a higher calling.
I also saw Ms Kay all decked out in her posh chair while she lectured on keeping gov out of health care. I would bet her rich husband gets Medicare; I would bet that same rich husband had private insurance before they married. To change to Govt. coverage makes me think they wanted that Cadillac plan. Never forget: She’s the one who called the lies about Plame a “technicality”.
So you mean at any time President Obama can pull SS protection for Cheney? Bwa hahahaha hahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh man. I hope he dangles that over Cheney’s head from time to time. :-)
It makes us wince, but are there any actual voters out there so dumb and/or ill informed that they believe anyone getting government health care while damning it, is really fighting FOR the public? yeh, probably.
Literacy rate in Afghanistan is quite low and its military & police are no exception. Somewhere I read that the way they are being trained is completely inconsistent with the skills that they present.
According to Wiki, she turned 65 in July and would have been eligible for Medicare. Whatever FEHB coverage she had would have become secondary insurer. (Wiki also has her graduating from UT at 18, which I don’t believe.)
By the way, I saw her on TV add in Texas saying that she decided to remain in Senate while running against Perry, in order to save us from government health care takeover. The only optimistic thing about the Texas gubernatorial race between she and Perry is that at least one insufferable weasle will lose.
Sadly, staying in office while she runs means Hutchison can lose the race for governor and still stay in office.
Indeed, one will lose in the big hair contest. It may be ugly on the way.
Yeah, I know. I’m grasping for any small satisfaction. I attended a John Sharpe meeting, and will support whatever Dem. runs, but have faint hopes.
pardon my testosterone here but honestly, whenever there’s a public tit I want to see it!
they’re trying to make those things illegal even at the beach and me no likey
I don’t believe this is the case. I am nearly 67 and work full time and my employer’s insurance plan is my primary coverage. There is a paper I have to sign that affirms I have health insurance coverage that will protect me (not sure from what, a penalty perhaps) when I do apply for Medicare.
lol. Current picture of KBH would fit nicely into my high school annual. Perry looks like he sleeps in formaldihyde jar.
Are you throwing shiny beads, tho?
I retired as civil servant 3 years ago. You can continue to carry FEHB coverage, with gov’t continuing to pay percentage. I became eligible for Medicare last year and it became primary, with FEHB becoming secondary. In essence, one might be able to carry less expensive FEHB plan.
Perhaps private insurance (I work at a private university) is different then. Or perhaps more likely, it is because I am not retired. Once I do retire I will not have the option to carry my employer’s insurance, I’ll have to go on Medicare.
On edit: I looked into Medicare Advantage a year or so ago, just to prep for when I retire, and thought I would get that coverage. Now I probably won’t, although I think some of those plans cover things that Medicare does not. But I’ve heard the carriers are raising premiums in advance of the expected end of the government subsidy (which at the time I had no idea was in effect).
Yep, and I do not believe the age l8 comment, either. She was a high school cheerleader, and I bet she stayed around the whole time for that job.
I wonder if your employer may continue to offer the lesser supplement policy when you retire.
zig is up
I don’t know, but I don’t think so. I haven’t heard anything about it from others who have announced their intention to retire, and I think I would have. It also is not covered on our benefits/retirees web pages. But it is a question to ask, certainly.
I bought sterling silver for extra inticification (inticification =a word I just made up, do not bother trying to find it in a dictionary)
There is a hierarchy of coverage laid out by statute. I have tricare which ends on my 65 birthday. My Ex was eligible for IHS and as a federal employee had BCBS. First BCBS was billed then tricare then IHS.
I’m sure that’s probably the case. FEHB existed before gov’t workers participated in Medicare. As I remember, in early 80′s, Congress voted to start deducting for Medicare from civil servants. I pay premiums on both, but with gov’t portion of FEHB continuing. FEHB policy primarily provides drug prescription benefits so I don’t have to participate in that part of Medicare.
Hmmm….I wonder if Medicare Advantage provides drug coverage — each plan is different. I should look into that, although I am not on a lot of expensive meds at the moment.
Kay B just came on my TV; Now I know where not to be….
Just for the record, Grassley didn’t just start living on the “public dole” when he became a “member” of Congress! He began living on the “public dole” when he was still in HIGH SCHOOL, when his DAD became a “member” of Congress! He has NEVER had any OTHER JOB! You can be assured that he had plenty of government assistance to pay for his “education” as well as every other thing he’s ever had in his LIFE!
Grassley is the hypocrites HYPOCRITE!
Would that it were so, but not so fast:
“How long do former presidents receive Secret Service protection after they leave office?
In 1965, Congress authorized the Secret Service (Public Law 89-186) to protect a former president and his/her spouse during their lifetime, unless they decline protection. In 1997, Congress enacted legislation (Public Law 103-329) that limits Secret Service protection for former presidents to 10 years after leaving office. Under this new law, individuals who are in office before January 1, 1997, will continue to receive Secret Service protection for their lifetime. Individuals elected to office after that time will receive protection for 10 years after leaving office. Therefore, President Clinton will be the last president to receive lifetime protection.”

Earlier this year during a town hall meeting Grassley was asked by a constituent “Why can’t I have the same health insurance you do?” He replied “You can. Just go to work for the government.”
See…snap it’s so easy, duh…
Brilliant title, attaturk. the concept of the public tit.
Scott Peck said, “It is evil to tit-suck and control someone at the same time.” Meaning the same person. Meaning in a sense, not okay to tax and not represent the person you are taxing, broadly speaking.
The Oligarchs are tit-sucking the taxpayers and controlling and destroying their lives. The idea of the public trust, the common good, so gone now.
Last night Obama showed that consideration for the welfare of anyone besides the imperialist and/or corporate self-aggrandizing fat cats with their profits and pipelines and rapacious and avaricious will is not going to happen.
While we’re referencing body parts, has anyone noted that Grassley is a public a$$hole?
