william & Mary is an excellent school, but it is a very traditional and conservative campus. If it comes down to that, I hope you make another visit when school is in session to understand what the student body is all about. Lots of privileged young people, lots of Virginia gentry, lots of prejudice. I can’t see you being happy there, dear, but I think if it comes to that you should definitely make another, longer visit before you decide.

They won’t come this week — starting in December, or, the next two weeks. Think about ordering that winter coat you didn’t want to buy.

I suspect that Teddy at 95 is right. I have to say that I am educated at mid-Atlantic universities, and they were very liberal and tolerant. So is Ohio. I don’t have any first-hand experience with the south or ivy league schools.

I had such a wonderful visit with MsCE. I found letters from Paris, written in 1978 from me and MrCE to his parents in Pennsylvania. Patty and I laughed until we cried. I wrote those letters, and MrCE at the same age as she is now.
