Remember all that “sexist!” outrage about the Palin Newsweek cover? Doesn’t apply here.
Of course I’m aware that neither radio host is suggesting that Landrieu actually traded sex for $300 million. I get that it’s a metaphor. But its a misogynist one that never gets applied to male senators. It works by making her political capacity a function of her gender, and then marginalizing that gender by reducing her legitimate actions to a mutually exploitative sexual transaction. That’s not something men in politics get accused of when they bargain on behalf of their underprivileged constituents.
IOKIYAR.

About Firedoglake
Sooner or later, KO’s just going to have to create a WPITW Emeritus for BillO, Beckerhead, and Limpballs so that he can highlight more of the standard idiocy from folks like Carly.
Otherwise, the competition is just too much since those three provide so many stupid things as fodder every day of the week.
Carly got a Buzz Cut why?
Yep. Then the talents of Goehmert, Foxx, Bachman, and Myrick can be profiled. Although Bachman might have to go in the emeritus list too.
Carly is a lesbian trapped in a mans body. Not that theres anything wrong with it.
Beck wants people to buy gold actual gold not gold mines? If KO is right the price of actual gold has to go up 30 to 40 % before you make back your money never mind see a profit.
A GOP portfolio of stocks might be a good idea. Ben Stein saying last year buy financial stocks right before they dropped even more, Maxium Bob of GM saying Toyota lost money on every Prius they made.
Rupert Murdock saying war with Iraq would be good for the economy something about $30 a barrel oil. Bwahahaha!
Dan Quayle’s hedge fund Cerberus buying Chrysler. Mitt Romney’s Bain Capital buying Home Depot right before the Housing Market collapses and buying Clear Channel only to lay off how many employees.
Bush 1′s Carlyle Group had a fund collapse in Europe right before all the banks collapsed. I read Arianna Huffington’s Ex is suing the Carlyle Group cause Bush 1 steered him wrong on investing with them.
( Just to be clear I trust none of the Banks or Hedgefunds numbers)
Anyway if it weren’t for inside deals and tax payer bailouts would any GOPer have a pot to piss in?
We have a Reverse Darwin System the Elite can’t fail and so keep making mistakes. With no weeding mechanism their Elite Garden has been taken over by weeds.
She’s running for Governor and her image consultant approved that haircut? Just how big is the Lesbian vote in California? I don’t think even that haircut can get her Lesbian votes.
Mornin’, BT, pups
I’ve been thinkin’ about the Catholic Bishops and their patriarchal and authoritarian dictum on end-of-life procedures, or non-procedures as the case may be.
This from the folks who gave us decades of tolerating and protecting pedophiles within the Catholic church. I’d have to say the Catholic church hasn’t changed much.
The Catholic church murdered “heretics” for the first 1000 years or so of its existence. They place so much value on human suffering they’re now willing to inflict that suffering not only on patients at the end of life but their families and friends, who will be left with those memories for the rest of their lives. Nice folks.
The Catholic church is truly a terrorist organization by any definition of the term.
On a lighter note, trolls may have found a better way to make money than actually trolling wonderful progressive sites like, say, a site called firedoglake.
http://mediamatters.org/press/releases/200911240040
If this is how the GOP treats their friends how come the Left is called divisive all the time?
Could the church be announcing this we will keep everyone alive no matter what the family says to cause people to bring terminally ill patients elsewhere and thereby save Catholic Hospitals money? I’m unsure of Hospital economics in this situation.
You nasty creeps. Carly Fiorina had chemotherapy for breast cancer.
Remember how upset we got when some rightie covering the Libby trial made sh!tty comments about Jane’s wig? Do a little google before you slam a woman with short hair.

Apparently, the sanctity of human life begins with conception and ends with penetration.
I clicked the link thinking they were hiring for another Lord of the Rings movie. But this was as good

I think that Carly Fiorini is running against Barbara Boxer for the senate.
Morning All.
Wake up call for Newsweek: Male politicians in Washington get called whores all the time. Its not unusual at all.
A labor union president — who shall remain nameless — used to make the following pitch to members to get them to contribute to the union’s political action committee (it’s a paraphrase, but is essentially accurate, including the salty language):
“Listen men, the fact is that all these politicians are fucking whores. They want money and they’ll do anything to get it. If we want them to do something for us, we have to pay them. They are just like regular whores, except they are not as honest. “
Too delicious! I love that strip.
You are right and the Dems have done nothing to stop this. Obama hasn’t replied to charges he belittled us by bowing to the Japanese, nor has anyone pushed back against the claim end of life counseling is a death squad. We’re all going to die. We can choose pain and low quality life that enriches hospitals and doctors at taxpayer expense, or we can face reality.
It’s facing reality that’s the problem which makes Palin et al so dangerous. If things are as bad or worse in 2012 as they are today, she’s got an all too good a shot at the white house. We aren’t being all that effective either. The liberal blogisphere shot the works on a public option. It doesn’t look like that’s going to happen in any meaningful way if at all. We’ve got to go back to the drawing board.
Speaking of teh predatory Church *and* teh predatory insurance companies…

US Congress Investigates Iraq War
Ooops sorry that is UK not US
There’s absolutely no reason for anybody, including Obama, to explain themselves for bowing to anybody, repeat anybody, in Japan. It is a custom of the culture just as much as shaking hands is in Western culture. People screeching about his bowing to a Japanese are showing their ignorance.
Stupid is a condition.
Ignorance is a choice.
I think a lot of the anti-Obama crowd has never been outside their little hometown and the more sophisticated anti-Obamas (read neocons)manipulate the ignorance to their advantage,
You’re absolutely correct.
I had no idea she had cancer. Still its legit to note the hair no public relations person would let that haircut go, noticing the hair cut did not fit in a world with blow dried perfect hair political candidates is stating the Obvious. State what you think you know then work and debate from there. It never would occur to me to google her haircut.
Spot the stuff that don’t fit find something wrong, Carly is running for public office can she handle the job and chemo?
Cancer almost always does come back does Carly have the support Jane did when she was sick? Are people electing, vetting or even know who is Carly’s support cause they might end up making all the decisions.
Jane makes a bad call the Lake suffers Carly makes a bad call California suffers. If I feel Jane makes a bad call I can always leave, California home owners might have a harder time leaving the bigger the responsibility the more you need a leader you can count on.
I promise no more hair comments. You just opened up another front though Chemo Brain. A few bad jokes about a hair cut Carly could have laughed off. Chemo Brain the question will the cancer come back that she can’t laugh off.
My bad.
I would like to apologize for jumping on you so hard about the Carly short hair because of chemotherapy. I am quite sensitive to “short hair = lesbian” stereotype because a number of years ago what I thought was a great idea – a short “kicky” easy care style – was rumored and interpreted by even mgmt at my company that I was coming out as a lesbian. It caused irreparable damage to my career and professional relationships there. Sad but true and still quite raw when the subject comes up. Very sorryu for taking it out on you.
Happy Thanksgiving to all.
Re mgmt at your company. Ignorance is a choice. Unfortunately, it’s never the ignorant that suffer the consequences of their ignorance.
Bowing he should push back in Rome do as the Roman’s do even a President can be a respectful guest would be my push back.
Death squads yeah Michelle Bachmann should be censored or expelled from the House saying the President is plotting to murder people, lock them up in camps yeah you better have proof. I can say that I’m a citizen I also have the freedom to be evaluated at a mental hospital too.
Michelle as a Public Official has a duty to tell the truth about Official matters relating to her job.
I’m sorry too. I made those statements because I know the GOP gets really pissed if people question their sexuality. If I actually thought she was a Lesbian I would not have mentioned the haircut.
Your ignorance is showing. Not funny.
Even conservatives are people, whether they admit to it or not.
Post-chemotherapy cognitive impairment (PCCI) (also known as chemotherapy-induced cognitive dysfunction, chemo brain or chemo fog) describes the cognitive impairment that can result from chemotherapy treatment. Approximately 20-30% of people who undergo chemotherapy experience some level of post-chemotherapy cognitive impairment. The phenomenon first came to light because of the large number of breast cancer survivors who complained of changes in memory, fluency, and other cognitive abilities that impeded their ability to function as they had pre-chemotherapy.[1]
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Post-chemotherapy_cognitive_impairment
KO catching Carly’s lie could have been an example of Chemo Brain, politically I’m not sure what’s worse.
As a long-haired lesbian who got one too many pixie cuts as a kid, I shall dab my tear ducts thusly.
*dab* *dab*
OT, but I’m watching Dylan Ratigan, and they’re saying 47% support an increase in troops for Afghanistan. That’s a five percent jump from the last time they polled it. How can that be?
Polls are as manipulable as taffy.
There are still a lot of people in this country that think any war is a good war. The majority of them have never heard the sound of a supersonic projectile passing within a foot of their ear, much less the sight and sound of one hitting a human body.
What percentage are against?
Making jokes about a bad haircut hey we all have had them. Making Jokes about Carly maybe being a Lesbian well I have no problem with Lesbians chances are nobody on this blog does but it makes GOPers upset.
The GOP does not want Gays to Marry, Join the Army, be included in Hate Crime Laws, have protection from discrimination in hiring.
This denial of human rights to one group pisses off people Gay and Straight. I see no harm to society if Gays want to be treated Human. If the GOP won’t listen to facts well….yes I will make fun of them.
Off to swim in the great capitalist cesspool.
US KIA Irak: 4,365
US KIA Afghanistan: 928
US MBS 2009: 40,672
Be good to yourselves, and all other living things.
Namaste
Funny GOP polls remember the GOP always had one poll showing McCain running even or close with Obama through much of the campaign despite what all the other polls said.
Fortunate they are. May they always remain so.
I certainly can’t argue with that.
new post up top…
49%, I think they said
Wow. You so outed yourself. You have long hair! I’m jealous. I’ve never been able to get my hair to grow past a long bob. *g*
I do, however, have a couple of pieces of extensions that clip on. Just for fun.
In other words breast cancer gives a woman ugly hair and makes her stupid. Just tell her to stay inside and not offend your senses. Maybe Obama care is right in enacting guidelines that will help us all to pretend breast cancer doesn’t happen until it is too late to be cured.
As my mamma would say, “just because GOPer’s don’t apologize for farting in church doesn’t relieve you from the demads of common courtesy.” .
I assume Chemo Brain applies to men and women with cancer. As far as courtesy goes we have been to nice to the GOP otherwise John Kerry would have been President. I gave up turning the other cheek then. Hugh’s list or Media Matters might have an idea how many times I turned the other cheek.
A bad haircut joke is not equal to lies about WMD, Gays are a threat to the country, Immigrants Ditto, Death Panels as Obama’s Healthcare plan Camps for Americans etc.
I draw the line at lies. I make fun of liars.
Thank you so much for saying what’s been on my mind for a while, but what I’ve been afraid to actually say due to the fear of offending the people on this (or any other) board:
“The Catholic church is truly a terrorist organization by any definition of the term.”
Whew! I finally said it, and got that off of my chest. I’ve been fuming ever since I read about their new policy to create 300,000 Terry Schiavos… using MY tax dollars (and yours too) to violate the will of the family and patient. Federal tax dollars is OURS, not theirs!! Has the 1st Amendment officially been discarded?? I just can’t believe that they’re allowed to do this and then not pay taxes, on top of STEALING federal (people’s) tax dollars. :(
If we renounce empathy for the humanness of our enemies, then they have won and it will no longer make any difference who we elect to run our government. In fact there are days now I wonder if that is not already the case. Behold Rham Emanuel.
(test edit of comment for mods)
Never fear to say what you truly think or feel, here or anywhere else. If you get flamed, so be it. It won’t hurt anything but your pride. *g*
Too funny! “one too many pixie cuts as a kid” – exactly what my parents did to me. They both had a prejudice against long hair, and forced me to keep my hair short, which I haaaaaaated.
The minute I got old enough to decide for myself I began growin it out—at least 4 times in my life I’ve had hair past my waist, which, truthfully, wasn’t a lot more flattering to my face than the pixie cuts.
Now shoulder lenght, in defiance of the stereotype that we older (just turned sixty) women must cut our hair short. As long as it stays its natural color (which it has), I’m keepin’ it long.
Glad to know I’m not the only one.
