Dana Perino: No Terror Attack on USA in Bush Era |

And that, my friends, is how history gets re-written in the modern era.
Just. Like. That.
why the fork did bo bring her into his administration?
To her credit, Dana replied to my email asking for clarification and she said she meant after 9/11, never meant otherwise and has always said after 9/11, except for the one time she didn’t. Kind of like Bush saying he kept us safe except for the one time he didn’t.
Hey! Wouldn’t this woman make a PERFECT addition to the Obama administration’s Broadcasting Board of Governors?
WTF is going on in the democratic party?
But what about the anthrax attacks that killed 5 people and injured as many as 68?
He should pull the plug on her job immediately.
A short list of terror attacks during the Bush tenure.
1. 9/11, in fairness anybody could forget that one
2. the anthrax attacks
3. the Beltway snipers
I don’t suppose incidents like the Virginia Tech massacre count if the perp wasn’t a Muslim
I’m certain there are dozens more.
I included that in my follow up email, and am awaiting her response. Stay tuned…
“We did not have a terrorist attack on our country during President Bush’s term.” —Dana Perino
Let’s see…. Well there was that thing on 9/11 — what was that again? Oh yeah, only the largest terrorist attack on US soil ever. Then there were the anthrax attacks. Perino insists the Ft. Hood shooting — one event by one deeply disturbed man — is an act of terrorism. OK, by that standard, we must include in Bush’s list of terrorist attacks on US soil the DC sniper (and the guy’s name was Muhammad!), the grenade blasts outside the UK Embassy in NYC (which Fox’s Michelle Malkin declared was “clearly meant to terrorize or worse”), and the Ohio sniper. Let’s not forget the Glen Beck fan who attacked a Knoxville church for being liberal . There were also attacks on abortion clinics that I’d certainly categorize as terrorism: May 2000, arsonists hit a clinic in Concord, NH; September 2000, a Catholic priest drove his car into the Northern Illinois Health Clinic then pulled out an ax before being shot at by a security guard; June 11, 2001, a bombing at a clinic in Tacoma, Washington; November 2001, Clayton Waagner mailed hoax letters containing a white powder to 554 clinics; July 4, 2005, a clinic Palm Beach, Florida was the target of an arson; December 12, 2005, Patricia Hughes and Jeremy Dunahoe threw a Molotov cocktail at a clinic in Shreveport, Louisiana; September 13, 2006, David McMenemy of Rochester Hills, Michigan, crashed his car into the Edgerton Women’s Care Center in Davenport, Iowa, then doused the lobby in gasoline and started a fire; April 25, 2007, a package left at a women’s health clinic in Austin, Texas, contained an explosive device capable of inflicting serious injury or death; May 9, 2007, a Planned Parenthood clinic in Virginia Beach, Virginia, was set afire; December 6, 2007, Dr. Curtis Boyd’s clinic in Albuquerque, NM was destroyed by arson — later that same month, two Planned Parenthood buildings were attacked, with arson destroying a surgery center used for abortion. In fact, in just the last year of Bush’s term alone, 20% of abortion clinics were attacked, up from 18.4% in 2005 (also a Bush year). Any others I’ve missed?
Because she is so good at spewing Goebbels-like propaganda without giving a tell on that purty face of hers. She was appointed to be Director of the propaganda spewing radio station Radio Marti, after all.
Plus it was so close to Thanksgiving Day that Obama had to pardon a Turkey.
Goebbels…Goebbels…Goebbels.
Saw this at Atrios – according to comments, (haven’t followed up), this is a position for which Repubs nominate – McConnell nominated her.
Not sure whether pres. can reject, or whether Sen. confirmation needed. surely not, it can’t be that big a deal.
And frankly, since we are in the age of intertoobz, how important can the VoA and RFL be these days? Or Radio Marti. What else is there now?
Maybe she’s in a place where she can’t do too much damage.
Still, she’s an ignoramus.
Well, if all of a sudden those attacks that BushCo called terrorist attacks got re-defined as criminal acts (which is in fact what they were across the board) then she MIGHT have a small point.
In other words, not all criminal acts are acts of terror but every act of terror is a criminal act, and should be treated as such.
She probably confused it with the Bay of Pigs Invasion or the Cuban Missile Crisis and hence doesn’t know anything about it.
Good point. I always wonder why, in those fierce debates over whether X event was terrorism or a criminal act, nobody ever respoonds that they are not mutually exclusive.
I think there should be a new designation for Republican history revisionists, “ignor-anus.”
This just in…
Sarah Palin: ‘We’ll see’ about run with Glenn Beck
Poor Dana, how is she going to feel playing second spokesmouth to ol’ Bigmouth himself?
Maybe she can call herself BigFootInMouth…
Dana Perino is a vapid twit. She knew nothing of the Bay of Pigs. She apparently also knows nothing of 9/11. How dumb is this woman? More importantly, since it has been abundantly demonstrated that she is utterly unaware of recent U. S. history, why is she tapped as an “expert” whose opinion matters?
Silly me. She was on FauxNews where facts are not necessary or even ever encountered. A clear example of the “bimbo-ization” of the GOP. “Who cares what she said, did you see how she filled out that sweater?” Pretty, brainless twits who have emerged as figures of import within the party. It explains much about why Perino, Palin, Bachmann, and Coulter are so visible. It’s certainly not because of their brainpower.
Eeww! Not that I disagree, rf…
To be honest, the Bush Admin spent every day that followed 9/11 terrorizing Americans and they didn’t even stop when he left office.
And Miss Thang married a White British man. What…White American men not good enuff for her?!?! She likes a man who has to have tea and crumpets everyday instead of some T-bone?!?!
Teabaggers Unite against the Republican Party. We MUST take them DOOOOWWWWWWWWWN!!1!!!1!1!
Don’t Tread on me, Miss PurinaChow.
In addition I always thought that the Bush administration held that attacks on our citizens and military abroad were “attacks on our country”. Not on our territory, certainly…but when someone bombs a US military base, attacks an embassy, or targets an American because of their nationality…it’s an attack according to the Bush Doctrine. In that regard there were thousands of terrorist attacks on our country during the Bush era.
Is Dana actually claiming that the attack has to be on US soil to be an attack on our country then does she say that the Cole Bombing, the attack on the Kenyan and Tanzanian Embassies, the Iranian militant takeover of the Teheran Embassy, the Khobar Towers attacks, etc. were not “terrorist attacks against our country?”
If it isn’t then half the groups that are on our terrorist list shouldn’t be there.
Out of sight, out of mind.
He’s not gonna take a back seat to a chick, perish the thought
Dana has the mind of a child. Doesn’t know anything and doesn’t see any reason why she should. I wonder if her mommy entered her in beauty contests.
that’s some serious chutzpah.
And why did Vice President Gore’s chief of staff out a covert CIA agent?
So what happened to that whole, “anyone who is caught broadcasting fairytales on Fox air is gonna get shitcanned” thing?
Hey Rupert and Roger. How about putting your money where your mouth is?
that doesn’t work for chocolate.
With all due respect, this is not how history gets re-written. It’s how shills and fools lose their credibility with onlookers.
I think that Dana will explain away her idiocy by falling back on one of the following excuses:
1) “I was just practicing my “Goebbels-like” Big Lie technique to get ready for Radio Marti.”
2) “Notice I said “term”, by which I meant Bush’s second term, everything that happened in his first term was Clintons fault.”
3) “I was only referring to the time I was there at the White House. I didn’t follow events before that time. Bush was President on September 11th?”
4) “Notice I didn’t say WHICH President Bush.”
5) “Terrorist? I distinctly said ‘TOURIST’…there were no TOURIST attacks…not..a..single..one.”
6) “My country is the Sovereign and Independent Secessionist Republic of Texas…there were no terrorist attacks there when Bush was President.”
7) “Jeesh, don’t you guys understand subtle irony? I was making the point that if the attacks at Fort Hood were not terrorism then neither was 9/11.”
8) “I view the attack on the World Trade Towers as a part of a ten year continuing terrorist incident that started under Clinton…if Clinton had not been having sexual relations with Monica he might have told President Bush about Al Qaida.”
9) “Golly…I was like in Fourth Grade back then…wasn’t 9/11 like when Castro invaded us at the Bay of Pigs? By the way…aren’t I pretty!”
10) “My memory isn’t so good since I was hit by a shoe ricochet.”
and I’m not hearing hew and cry from Halperin’s fellow villagers over this unforgivable travesty.
Oh and one more.
11) “I’m a well-trained Public Relations professional. The first rule of PR is “speak to your audience” and how was I to know that anyone else would be listening to Hannity other than the brainwashed hordes that mindlessly consume FOX and Rush Limbaugh. I was just following orders.”
Really good…
Because I have the mind of a twelve-year old, my first thought when I saw that was, “Who is being insulted – Cameron Diaz or Mary Landreau?”
Hey Basket,
If you’re so close and personal with her why did she email you the same exact thing she tweeted to all her turgid scrobag fans. That is so totally (to use a Saint Sarah term) BOGUS! AS IF! I would tell her she is no longer a BFF!
Jeez you stand up for your BFF and this is what you get. Who cares if she is a lying dimbulb. She deserves to be mocked. And you Basket deserve better.
This from the woman who didn’t know what the Cuban Missile Crisis was. Brilliant as ever!
9/11 was a freebie and therefore doesn’t count because it happened during a republican administration. (Who could have possibly predicted, and everything like that.) Remember the prime directive: IOKIYAR The right is always right which leaves no room for compromise.
If there were a terrorist attack, would we know it? Would someone necessarily claim responsibility? What if Cheney ordered the anthrax attack? What if Cheney ordered the H1N1 attack?
Scientist Repeats Swine Flu Lab-Escape Claim in Published Study
If HelenaHandbasket could get DP aka BigFookinMouth to inadvertently assert that the Swine Flu was “not natural” then it would be an admission that someone she knew has inside information. That would be something to look into.
Since DP wants to get medieval on our progressive asses by declaring that BO isn’t keeping us safe from the Boogabooga Boys then here’s her chance.
Let her claim the H1N1 pandemic was an act of man, and thus a terrorist attack. It would be interesting to hear her assert such a thing…
Kind of like Mrs. Greenspan claiming “everybody knew” Val was a James Blonde.
That Obama wants her appointed to the Broadcasters Governing Board says it all. The Poser in Chief has spoken. I say it’s time to dump Obama and begin looking for his replacement for 2012.
Apparently the tiny dancer would rather be viewed an idiot than a liar.
Wasn’t that about Castro’s botched circumcision?
quel surprise
White House Releases Visitor Logs The Afternoon Before A Holiday
dday’s upstairs
I’m Good Enough, I’m Smart Enough, and Doggone It, I do deserve better.
in what way could the beltway sniper attacks be deemed terrorism? That was simple serial murder. The VA Tech incident was romantically motivated campus violence. There was no sign of terrorism in either case.
well, the public was terrorized…
Reading between the lines she’s absolutely right. I’m old enough to remember. Cheney was in charge not Bush. The attacks took place during Cheney’s watch. Bush was working on no child left behind and improving his reading skills. Lighten up folks. Treat the outrage like eggs, over easy.
For that particular board, I believe the law requires it to be both D and R and she is supposed to have been selected by Mitch McConnell for one of the R slots.
And hey, she can tell the Cubans “listening” to Radio Marti (which this board controls) about how the Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Missile Crisis were the same thing.
Well, the beltway sniper’s name was Muhammad after all. Isn’t that evidence of terrah? /s
Thanks, Teddy, for picking this up. I had seen it elsewhere, but it deserves comment here. Miss Pig Missile’s knowledge of life and affairs seems about as limited as Shrub’s, so her comments about history are not as good a place to start as say, Time Magazine or Wikipedia.
Still, for her to claim that the signature event that shaped the Bush presidency and America during the last ten years magically happened outside of space and time, is rather like Goldman Sachs’ CEO claiming that his income is insufficient or that he’s doing “god’s” work. If we fail to refute it, though, it becomes the baseline story, not the empty propaganda it is.
Someone please tell me again why Barack Obama’s government put this woman back on the public payroll to spew lies to Africa and Latin America. It’s not like the listeners believe most of those broadcasts anyway, but to confirm to the world that they are lies by hiring Ms. Perino is a bit much, even by the standards of the cynicism Obama is revealing himself to be brim full of.
Hey, there, everyone! Sorry to miss all your great comments on this; I was out at the premier of Fantastic Mr Fox, to which I paid my own way. No one paid me to say this, but it’s a swell family movie I heartily recommend.
And there are badgers!
PS Perino is too stupid to breathe.
I believe i heard she was being brought in for some job in the Obama administration and I’m sorry y’all, but as long as it does not involve speaking to the press corps, it is a blessing. if they put her somewhere and pay her to be quiet I say yea!
She was admitting that the 9/11 and the anthrax attacks weren’t ‘terrorist’ attacks because ‘terrorist attacks’ are attacks by Muslims.
Those were an inside job, they were treason. Wrong word.
Dana who?
Dana Perino is the same Republican that Obama nominated to a government council. And this is the thanks that he gets? He should remove her name immediately and remind her publicly as to who was “in charge” on 9/11.
According to Bushies his administration didn’t begin until 9/11 about noon. Everything before that was just a beer & coke-induced haze. After 9/11 it was much the same except there was no terrorist attack…except for anthrax and some other stuff.
Jeezus but liberal misogyny aimed at attractive women is ugly to read.
when it’s aimed at ugly women is it attractive to read?
LIMBAUGH: But a lot of Democrats are worried that, you know, she doesn’t have what it takes. She doesn’t connect on TV. We talked about this. She doesn’t come across as friendly. She doesn’t — she, you know, she’s like — my favorite name for her is Nurse Ratched. I mean, we created this whole concept of a testicle lockbox in connection with Mrs. Clinton. I mean, she has that kind of appeal to people. She’s — you fill in the blanks here.
My favorite name for DP is BigFookinMouth
Ha ha ha! And I’m no Rush Limpballs! Ha ha ha!
Used repeatedly.
And where precisely is the misogyny in saying that a person is stupid. About the only aspect of reference to Perino’s gender is that she is attractive (one you also made) and that she holds her positions because she’s a pretty face. She has consistently demonstrated that she doesn’t no much about history, or that she prefers to create her own versions of it when convenient.
That has nothing to do with her gender.
“why is she tapped as an “expert” whose opinion matters?”
Jon Stewart said it best: “Experts are to Fox News what winners are to the Special Olympics. If you show up, you are one.”
What drugs were the Bush Administration ON? Geesh!
