Invading countries, just because we can; secret meeting with oil companies to divvy up that same country’s oil; having one’s own personal hidey-hole and man-sized safes; authorizing torture and hell, enjoying it; outing a covert agent; having no problem with perjury; telling a Senator to go “fuck himself”; sleeping on the job; wearing a green parka and snow boots to a Holocaust memorial service; and shooting your friend in the face are all signs of “strength” and what this country is all about to most Americans.
Cheney says that when the President bows to a foreign leader, “our friends and allies don’t expect it and our adversaries perceive it as a sign of weakness.”
“I think it’s fundamentally harmful and it shows in my mind that this is a guy, a president, who would bow, for example, who doesn’t fully understand or have the same perception of the U.S. role in the world that I think most Americans have,” he says.
I think we all have this straight now. When it comes to being a DICK, Cheney bows to no one.

In the world of neo-cons, it is far better to hold hands and kiss both cheeks of heads of oil producing states than it is to bow. I wonder what Bush and the “whothehellever” from Saudi Arabia did behind closed doors.
Cheney needs to take a lesson in manners and civility from Dick Nixon, who bowed to Hirohito as a courtesy when he came to visit Alaska in 1971.
You said manners, civility and cheney in the same sentence! I am laughing, thank you.
Good morning all and thanks for the post, Attaturk.
It would be a much better world if everybody just laughed when dick crawled out from under his cowpie and opened his vile shithole of a mouth.
He was sleeping? I thought he was praying. Not.
Boy, there sure is a lot to dislike about the man. And, on it goes. He really should shut his piehole, oldnslow, because he looks worse every time he says something.
Yeah, Cheney should go back to his undisclosed location. After a lifetime of effort, he’ll still never be the Dick that Nixon was.
Was the book the Ugly American written about Cheney?
Morning All.
Cheney is now working on a new book.
“The Bow and Al Qaeda: Another Victory For the Terrorists”.
This from the author of the book, “Draft Deferment: Serving My Country In Vietnam”.
I am not a big fan of “the bow” (living in Japan), but I still don’t understand why Dick Cheney isn’t in jail.
Quite the accomplishment for the most loathesome politician in the history of the country. (man i miss the spellchecker)
Good morning demi!
Cheney should be bowing to his prison guards.
With sincere apologies in case you’re in the middle of breakfast, but this is the picture of Cheney you’re looking for if you’re really going to call him DICK. Off to the Times, hoping Bobo’s on vacation.
Why do so many Progressives want him to go away? Yeah, I understand. Every time he speaks it makes me want to stick red hot needles through my eardrums, too. But even so, I say “C’mon Dick, give us more, more, more.” Cheneys every word reminds the country of the utter disaster that was 2000 – 2008. He’s a blessing! You can’t buy a better message reinforcement for our side at any price….
Yeah, though I gotta say the one posted is probably the way I’ll always remember the dude. That cap says “Staff 2001,” give or take a year.
Happy T-day, everyone.
Good morning, pups. It’s Bobo, Cohen and Herbert this morning. I was praying Bobo would be on vacation, but no joy there. In “The Values Question” he gurgles that like all great public issues, the health care debate is fundamentally about values, about whether we have a moral preference for vitality or security. Fuck, Bobo, I have a “moral preference” for staying alive. Asshole. Mr. Cohen, in “Obama in His Labyrinth,” says President Obama’s ideas are good, but the warmth, cajoling and craft that make ideas more than that — especially in foreign policy — are lacking. Mr. Herbert, who is writing from Detroit, sees “Signs of Hope.” He says the U.S. has the intellectual resources and expertise to lead in the development of clean energy. It just needs the will to make it happen.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got toasted Thomas’ English muffins with your favorite jam. If you haven’t tried the whole wheat ones be a bit adventurous this morning — they’re delicious. (I’ve got the classic regular ones for people like Mr. Marion in Savannah who recoils in horror at the mere idea of anyone tampering with the perfect English muffin.) The turkey in the fridge shows signs of thawing, which is a good thing. Fingers crossed it will have finished the job by Thursday morning. Have a great day.
It’s an appropriate comment on the state of the party of Nope that it’s got spokescreeps like ex-Darth Cheney, along with the Palins, Becks and ex-Dobbs to bring them on. His snarls is one of their most dependable fundraising gimmicks, don’t forget.
My favorite Darth flick

But at least Cheney is consistent. He was saying the same things after GWB had his long, searingly intimate moments with the leader of Saudi Arabia, right? Right?
*chirp* *chirp*
Well, he would be a blessing perhaps if we didn’t live in a country where you really can fool most of the people most of the time.
Many on the left snicker at the hackneyed cliches, the bumptious tripe that come out of the bulbous holes on Fox News and talk radio. But for millions and millions of other Americans it’s the gospel truth.
We keep assuring ourselves this stuff will never be back in the White House again.
Right.
here’s what’s going with Cheney as it has evolved;
he started his torture tour as a pre-emptive defense because he knew it would become public knowledge that he initiated, instituted and conducted programs of torture, torture designed for getting false evidence through tortured confessions
when he saw how effective that tour was for not only getting people to change their minds about whether or not they want our country to be a country of torture, he also saw a happy dividend
he was effectivly undermining the obama presidency.
thus his method, now not only for pre-emptive defense against his crimes but also in preperation for the next election
cheney, a failure at everthing he has done, a college drop out, is now playing obama for a fool
cheney, hard to believe is obama’s clear superior
Why don’t Powell, both Bushes, Dole, et. al., call out Cheney on behaviour that is totally unprecedented and inappropriate for an ex-VP? Because there is no one in the Republican Party with any manhood.
Fightback against Faux;
my response when I complained vigorously to having it on while I had breakfast;
Ruth,
Our restaurant is leased out from the hotel but if they are in need of a new remote we would be happy to replace it for them. The channels that are on the TVs are not required and is up to the restaurant to choose or the guests might request to be on there. I will definitely be speaking with the restaurant owner and informing them of your concern. I hope that this will not deter you from staying in the future if you happen to be in this area again. Thank you for your response, I greatly appreciate the feedback!
Keep up the good fight!
Even a mini 9-11 and the country will be begging for dick’s protection in ’12.
Good morning Marion & everyone.
I’m picking up a fresh killed organic turkey tomorrow morning. “Only” $7 per pound.
And such an easy game it is.
Ye gods! That’s more than I’ll probably wind up spending for the beef tenderloin I’ll be doing for Christmas dinner. Yikes! Do you brine turkeys? I’ve never tried it, but I’ve heard people raving about juicy birds…
On edit — the total cost of the meat, not the per pound price!
They are both working for the power behind the thrown. Cheney seems to thumb his nose at government and Obama plays at getting government to work for them.
Our government belongs to special interests. End of story.
I can’t think of a strong enough word to describe what an embarrassment and disgrace to this country Dick Cheney has been and continues to be. Anyone with any affection for our country and its values should be running as fast as they can to distance themselves from this man.
If Dick Cheney had been around when the Biblical book of Leviticus was being written, I’m quite sure he would have been referred to as an abomination.
DICK!!!!! is right Attaturk. Gees. Anyone else wanting Cheney to be dragged on his ass on the way to the Hague?
The farmer’s chickens are really really good. I do it to support local agriculture also.
If an attacks happens, I will be one who will be reminding the neck droolers that George Bush didn’t get Osama bin Laden and is to blame for the attack (just like the neck droolers still blame Bill Clinton today for 9/11/01 because he didn’t get Osama!). See? :-)
Dick is a perfect representative of the U.S. As SanderO sez, it’s govt of the corporation and no one is a better example of that than Dick. Get used to it.
And if he’d been around for Exodus, we’d still be wandering around in the desert.
A man… who doesn’t fully understand or have the same perception of the U.S. role in the world that I think most Americans have,” he says.
Gee, what a coincidence that Palin is famous for saying, during the 2008 campaign, “I’m afraid that this is a man who doesn’t see America the way you or I do.”
This is a process of character assassination that apparently comes completely naturally to right-wing authoritarians, and it is disgusting and dangerous. It is nothing less than the reinforcement of “other-ness” in the minds of the slavish followers listening to and believing whatever these maniacs say.
I bet Sarah Palin can see Dick’s soul when she looks into his eyes. (scary evil!)
Is that the same way she can see Russia from her porch? I don’t think Chaney has a soul.
With prez like O, who needs Rs?
he needed his ass kicked probably his entire life.
“the power behind the thrown”? As in wrestling? How apropos!
That was s’posed to be a response to SanderO at 26
LOL Well, close. Check out the video on my latest post:
http://whitenoiseinsanity.com/2009/11/24/sarah-palin-fans-speak-out-at-a-booksigning-and-show-americans-how-stupid-they-really-are/
One of Sarah Palin’s fans says Russia is across the street up there in Alaska and Sarah is so right! *shaking head*
Stupidity knows no bounds.
My favorite thing about Dick and all like him is the line “the world changed after 9/11.” No, your world (Dick) changed because your administration was asleep against Al Qaeda and ran around like chickens with your heads cut off for 7+ years afterwards.
Dick still wants a country that lives in fear and will give up civil liberties because of that fear. Dick and his daughters can not stand to live in a country that MIGHT treat terrorism the same both before and after a strike. The Cheneys see these events as a way to seize power. Obama is vigilant in pursuing Al Qaeda through legal means both now and after a terrorism event )let’s just hope there is not one). We want a consistent effort, not this crazy “post-9/11 crap” that Dick and Ghoul-iani love to throw at the American people.
James Fallows smacks down the Villagers WRT their non-coverage of Obama’s trip: http://jamesfallows.theatlantic.com/archives/2009/11/about_press_coverage_of_obama.php
Richard Cheney should be in prison for TREASON, WAR CRIMES AND CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY!!
Richard Cheney should be in prison for being Richard Cheney.
