I tell ya’ spend a few hours with Sarah Palin and ya’ just give up and quit with dispatch. Et tu Oprah, et tu?
Oh, and speaking of quitting — Lou Dobbs was on the Daily Show on Wednesday evening. Much of the interview was put on the internet. The last part of which is below, I do believe that the last minute is so well put that Jon Stewart deserves more than just loud applause.
| The Daily Show With Jon Stewart | Mon - Thurs 11p / 10c | |||
| Exclusive - Lou Dobbs Extended Interview Pt. 3 | ||||
| ||||
And really, isn’t Palin and her quitting, just the summation of modern conservative thought?
“We can’t do this, we can’t do that. Well, accept for that one thing we all lined up and said we could do six and a half years ago, declared “Mission Accomplished“, but now we cannot possibly stop that EVER! Just keep on spending!”
Nothing can be done, and the less the better. Except when it comes to guns, bombs, and types of people they don’t like. They’re nostalgic for a time in America that never actually existed, rather the actual American was one that built things, fought and won a actual world wars, ended slavery and legal racism, went to the Moon, etc. All thanks to the Americans and their “BIG GOVERNMENT” they so hate.

Mornin’, pups -
I refused to watch that oprah/palin interview but have seen brief segments on the idjit box since (dial-up therefore can’t watch vid clips so please don’t provide linkies, thank you very much). If all of it was as bad as the very little I saw, oprah should have hung up her career *before* the forkin’ interview…..because, to use a quote from a favorite movie, “she sucked at it”. She’s apparently joined blitzer and larry king as well past her/their “use dates”. :-(
Good morning Waccamaw and awakening pups. Thanks for the post, Attaturk.
I did watch the Oprah interview of that woman. That woman is either a pathological lier or she is crazy. There is no other possible explaination for the shit that comes out of her pie hole. The truly revolting thing about it was how many of the lies Oprah left unchallenged. Palin is, as CBL puts it, the Annette Bening character in The Grifters. I think CBL is being a bit too kind.
Sarah is W. with a dress. I don’t mind that they just can’t let go.
They’re nostalgic for a time in America that never actually existed,
They all drank mint juleps on the veranda while Mammy fanned them, in their dreams. Any threat to that fantasy is an enemy of the right wing, and faux noise.
***DING!***
If I never have to see Lou Dobbs piggish face again it would be a real blessing.
I disagree, it’s the same old shit with dumb white folks without a pot to pee in that buy her bullshit. The plantation owners just fan the flames so’s they can keep the cotton.
Morning all. It is the big ole guvmint and them furiners keeping down.
dumb white folks without a pot to pee in
Those are the ones who fantasize about the plantations they never owned. Agreed, they definitely are the present day right wingers.
yup,the folks that vote against their own interests
Now they are messing with pap smears too and it’s just a coincidink
I saw a clip of the Palin/B. Walters interview where Walters asked her what she would do about the economy. Same old bullshit talking point of cuttng taxes. With all the tax cutting that has been going on for 30 years shouldn’t we be ass-deep in jobs by now? “Cut taxes, de-regulate, cut social spending” blah, blah, blah. They have successfully cut taxes and re-distributed wealth to the point I don’t think this mess can be fixed with-out some radical actions and we know that won’t happen. So get used to the fact that America will be a third world country….and no, we didn’t end slavery, we just outsourced it.
Mornin Joe and Mika are sucking each other off with glee about Libershitz and Nelson.
The Chamber can’t change ideology in midstream, even tho it’s proved horribly wrong and spread economic disaster all over the world. Palin drank the Koolaid, and that’s her entire platfrm.
The GOP does love war however if the Mission was Accomplished why are we still their years later? We have tons of money for that never mind Ossama if he is still alive is in Pakistan and all we are doing about that is sending in some model airplanes with bombs.
If that approach was going to work it should have worked years ago.
Good morning pups. Bobo and Prof. Krugman are both addressing matters economic today. Who ya gonna believe? Bobo, in “What Geithner Got Right,” says Timothy F. Geithner, like others on the White House economic team, is pragmatic and responds flexibly to situations, and that approach has paid off during the economic crisis. Prof. Krugman, in “The Big Squander,” says by not extracting concessions from bankers during the rescue of A.I.G., policy makers undermined their own credibility — and put the broader economy at risk. Hmmm… A Nobel prize winning economist or some fool who thinks Applebee’s has salad bars… Who ya gonna believe?
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got banana pancakes for y’all. I feel like death on toast points this morning, so I’m creeping off for a second cup of tea. Have a great day.
Just how long can a 52 year old live in a cave with a kidney dialysis machine the only thing keeping him alive?
Crap I think I just gave the GOP a Healthcare plan:(
Look at Ossama look at how good he looks sick Americans should pray in caves if they want to be healthy.
we keep having to ask, why is stewart a far better journalist then the journalists
We all know those Nobelers just throw their prizes out for no better reason than that the silly old world needs better minds, what credibility is that?
Hope you feel better after the tea, anyway.
A recent book written around interviews w/ABL ex wife and kids disputes that dialysis thing.
Mofo is in Miami sippin cuba libre’s on the beach.
Barbra could have asked Sarah who she would get the tax cuts. Sarah would say everyone equally.
So the McDonalds Manager barely getting by would get the same tax cut as the CEO of some company sending jobs over seas?
Follow up question how do you fix the budget and give tax breaks at the same time?
With 10% unemployment the people most in need are not going to pay taxes this year. Also how do tax breaks get consumers spending if 10% of them have no jobs?
And the other 90% of consumers are worried about their own jobs and not spending any money.
Make ya wonder if the people responsible for releasing both *studies* (or whatever the hell they are) aren’t rethuglicans……with malice aforethought. They are so frightfully good at stirring the pot or ginning up a brouhaha.
I don’t doubt it but Bush created this Ossama profile him and the GOP now have to live with the implications. Either that or they can admit they were wrong. Has Bush ever admitted making a mistake yet?
With Jeb Bush discussing the terror campaign they will lanch just before the Presidential election in three years.
Most excellent rant!
CNN did 10 minutes on Oprah quitting this morn. Talked about all the people who’ve grown up watching Oprah. Guess I missed out, I’ve never seen anything but clips.
Both in the same week? Yeah, riiiiiiiiiight! :-(((
That old phrase “Don’t piss on my leg and tell me it’s raining” might be a good response to iglesia.
Ten minutes sounds like the sum total that I have seen of her over the past twenty five years.
“We don’t got no stinking journalists”
The Sarah Palin interview is nobody’s idea of her best moment. If I watched her I might be able to think of one.
Kinda like faux noise using the wrong crowd clips twice in a week.
Count yourself lucky (or extra smart for avoiding her), darlin’.
I don’t think any of us here have really watched her.
*wink, wink*
The GOP is the party of Can’t. Can’t get Healthcare even though other countries spend less cover everyone and live longer.
The Media is in the business of Can’t. Can’t ask the GOP why not.
Can imagine that the audience for mid-day talk shows is about the same that used to watch soaps, and quiz shows, don’t really care what’s going on on that screen anyway.
Wow, are you suggesting that a journalist actually practice journalism? That is unheard of in this day and age {except for Stewart and Colbert}, journalism has become info-tainment. Instead of hard questions, let’s hear what Levi has been up to {I so don’t care}.
Those are great questions for so early in the morning.
OT-My beloved mother bought me an early birthday present because she just knew that I’d be anxious to read it…….Sarah Palin’s book.
Does Barnes & Noble take returns?
oh, that’s sad. Does she really think you would read it? erk
Give her a copy of ‘Shock Doctrine’ as a thank you gift.
here’s the radical actions that need to be taken, would make their heads explode and would educate everyone to the stark reality of our history;
“we are going to lower taxes
we are going to lower taxes back to the rates before reagan raised them, contrary to corporate media spin, reagan raised taxes, not lower, he also redistributed more burden onto the middle class and effectivly brought down the engine that runs our economy, the middle class
we are going back to the rates before those devastating policies destroyed our economy”
of course, nobody has the balls, nor is obama sympathetic so it can not happen under his administration
I sure hope we mount a strong primary challenge to this corporatist we put into office
Have you taken up darts yet?
Statements like that remind me that yes the blogs are full of Dreamers. The GOP and Media are full of people who quit on hope, nothing is possible for them except keeping things the way they are.
But since Everything Comes Undone sometime just who really are the dreamers:)
Thanx for the “rant” compliment. I’m old and I’m angry, but I can still rant and rave like a bitch.
If they don’t, I’ve got a sneaky feeling there are a few pups who could make suggestions for other enjoyable (tho’ not monetarily profitable) methods of disposing of it. *G*
Does your Mom know your politics maybe she thinks she is giving you material to write about at the Lake?
I want to sit next to you at Thanksgiving dinner. *g*
LOL..When I walked in the house last night it was displayed prominately on the dining room table so that I wouldn’t miss it. Asked my son, who the hell bought this? He said Gram was here, she bought it for you for your b-day. Seriously, can you return a book?
She does. Maybe it was a joke. I haven’t spoken to her yet.
If you have a receipt.
Does anyone know if there’s a transcript of Jon’s final summation from the video anywhere? I’d like to post that on Facebook or something. He really sums it up nicely.
Maybe she wants you to write a Brilliant Diary taking Sarah down.
I loved the question by stewart to dobbs:Why is everything wrong everytime we have a Democrat in the White House?What a fuckin scumbag dobbs is.He obviously lost all his senses and has become another Beck.May a swarm of fleas infest his mommas armpits!
I agree. Surely these bastards have taken enough of our money by now. What amazes me is that we cannot seem to get enough people elected that recognize the impossibility of the present situation. Without higher wages and or less of a tax burden the “purchasers”, mostly middle class, cannot purchase a damn thing so manufacturing will never be able to get to the 22% threshold that Robert Reich says is needed for a stable economy. To allow the 1% minority to hoard more and more of our collective ‘wealth’ is so absurd you would think that someone in office would join with Bernie Sanders in recognizing the stupidity on allowing it to continue. People rob banks ’cause that is where the money is … taxes should be garnered from the rich ’cause that is where the money is QED.
Great response! I was one of those people that drank the Obama Kool-Aid, even went door-to-door for him. I was naive enough to think he actually meant what he said. When he encircled himself with Rahm, Geithner, and Summers, I knew I’d been had. Our entire god-damn government is made up of corporatists {except Bernie Sanders], so I don’t know who would stand even a snowball’s chance in hell. They’re all bought and paid for. Until we have totally publicly funded elections. we’re stuck with this pile of shit and the consequences that go with it.
Call first, it was on sale in our local see-through mall, 40% off, when I walked by yesterday
Well if you can’t return it, remember winter is fast approaching. If you can’t get anything else out of it, you should be able to get a few minutes of heat out of it if you have a fireplace.
Hell’s bells and codfish! With all the vitriol she supposedly put in it, the bloody thing has *got* to last longer than a few minutes. *g*
Off to ready for work. Thanks, Attaturk, for a pleasant start to my day.
If you can’t return the book I suggest using the pages to make a Sarah Pinata and then hope Vodoo works.
Regift it. To someone you dislike.
ps
I want to point out, dobbs didn’t quit, it’s not quitting when they pay off your contract to get out
dobbs was fired
Good point:)
OT – So how many Republicans does it take to change a light bulb?
None. They’ll just cut taxes and the light bulb will magically change itself.
Of course it will also change from a compact fluorescent to some sort of coal burning bulb that fills your house with carcinogenic smoke and that you have to pay a monthly fee for rather than just buying outright.
Was that from the bookmark? I know it’s too wise to be quoted from the book.
I think the sun will come up twice in a day before we have anything to benefit the public at large.
To entertain the thought that,congressional whores wholly owned by the greedy selfish top 1% PIGS, would vote themselves out of a job and go against their owners wishes is a flight of fantasy. Being self centered, they have feathered their nest for their life expectancy and don’t worry about things like global warming or any challenges to life on earth that will occur after their passing.
that’s a great riddle right there, let’s make it more to the point;
“how many republicans does it take to change a street lamp bulb
None. They’ll just cut taxes and the light bulb will magically change itself.”
then they will tell us;
“this is true becuase if we cut taxes you have enough money to hire someone to change it without big government!”
we will point out the person will cost far more then the tax deduction and they will say;
“that’s a GOOD thing, they will then hire people with that money and put them to work”
we will point out more people were hired when the government did it, at lower cost over all and higher wage and they will answer;
“that’s socialism”
I could go on and on with this little skit you know
I think you’ve summed up their philosophy greatly. “Why should I pay for it? Eventually some ‘liberal’ will see that it needs done and take care of it without it costing me a dime.”
SCoontz’s “The Way We Never Were” is an excellent book on the nostalgia and the reality of the 1950s. It was written during Reagan’s years, when he kept referring to the 50s as our ‘golden moment.’ The 50s were horrible in many ways, yet they are still used as a benchmark for the ‘great’ USA.
The last comment by Stewart needs to be transcribed. It should be in history books.
“I do believe that the last minute is so well put that Jon Stewart deserves more than just loud applause.” it was excellent! at a time when we may be discouraged, turned-off, frustrated and angry, we must be more tenacious than ever.
What I like best in the clip is that Dobbs was setting up “fragile” as the new fear spin word for the GOP. Sounded like he was building his rhetoric for a campaign. Stewart countered it with “tenacious” and tapping the spirit that founded this country. “Fragile” did not found this country.
Stewart heard the propaganda and smashed it. He also gave balance to the concept of responsibility to help others as part of the understanding of “created equal.”
dobbs stewart on 012?
me no likey the dobbs part
She wrote an excellent book, caught much of the period and the nostalgia perfectly.
Silly one. Not THAT comment. His tenacious comment!
My only gripe is that Stewart, a truly class act, felt the need to make Dobbs feel good about himself at the end, with that Stewart-Dobbs ticket dreck. Uggh.
However, Jon Stewart is absolutely brilliant, and this gets these creeps on his program so he can skewer them with a smile.
