Lt. Governor Bill Halter held a press conference this morning to release more details on the free medical clinic that will be held at the Statehouse Convention Center in downtown Little Rock on Saturday, Nov. 21. The clinic is sponsored by the National Association of Free Clinics (NAFC). Funds for the clinic were raised mostly due to the efforts of MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann, who solicited donations on his nightly news program “Countdown.”
Halter said that census burea data shows 450,000 Arkansans are without health insurance.
Sen. Lincoln, are you listening?

Mornin, BT
Hell no, she only listens to lobbyists bearing gifts.
The Waltons have not given her any marching orders.
PetsMart is in the same complex Wal-Mart is in and there’s a noticeable decline in vehicles in the parking lot in front of Wal-Mart.
she’s listening to the massive roar of incoming campaign donations from the insurance bloc.
It almost sounded like the Lt. Gov, might be willing to primary Lincoln. Hope it isn’t wishful thinking on my part.
Mornin’ guys,
apparently the good Lt Gov has been talking to certain outside agitators :D
does he (or any candidate) have to form an exploratory committee to start taking money/resources from said agitators ?
Thank you, thank you, thank you for the linky in the last thread. I just HOWLED. That Photoshop job is priceless…
This is a test of the GOP Public Relations team lets see how long it takes them to notice that KO can get some pretty big crowds for medical care with I bet a lot less TV coverage than Fox News gave the Tea Baggers for their anti health care crowds.
The GOP PR response should be interesting especially if KO starts getting Tea Bagger or bigger sized crowds.
Bill Halter is leading the way how many smart Dems are there? They should all be volunteering to talk with KO about healthcare and they all should stand with these crowds and help out.
I think it is safe to say the Lt.Gov Halter has officially put Arkansas on notice.
He clearly refered to the Saturday event when saying that he wanted to keep politics out of it not the issue of health reform.
Good way to start the Day good news and a good Lefty idea thats working!
Morning All,
Well, I gotta tell you that the women who came to the gym I work at were in really pissy moods last night. One in three, it seemed, were complaining about colds or the flu (and yes I disinfected all the machines at the end of my shift). One gal who works in HR for Budweiser told us about a meeting she led yesterday wherein she had the unfortunate responsibilty to tell the employees about the policies of their new health coverage. All bad news, but the kicker is the Prescription part. The carrier pays for the first three scrips, and after that the employee is liable for Full Payment. Can you imagine? Then, when I got home and Harry Reid was on the tv talking about saving lives and saving money I had to go to the other room or stand there and have a complete meltdown.
The Swine Flu can still force a better healthcare bill I think.
Yes. A candidate for any federal office must first form a campaign committee before accepting any contributions. The only requirement to form a committee is that it have a candidate and treasurer and fill out the FEC forms.
John Conyers on the Bill Press radio program this a.m. said single payer is still alive and support in Congress is gaining strength. Conyers was quite critical of Obama, coming close to saying Obama is naive. Also very critical of Rahm.
Is Swine flu spread through the air when its not in pigs people in gyms breath allot and sweat it might be a place people get infected at.
I agree about Obama but it still sounds like good news.
Challenge Lincoln? He’s ready for a national ticket. He handled that interview with top media control and kept on message in a professional and respectful manner. He. Was. Trustworthy. And Genuine.
Qualities not often reflected by politicians when receiving national press.
Do you really think so? I’m feeling mighty blue about how our government has let the lobbyists have so much influence – campaign finance reform! And, how the corporations’ greed is ruining this little political experiment – open heart surgery.
No more happy Demi today.
I’ll tell the gals not to breathe.
thanks. first cuppa. ok, since he already has campaign/staff for his Lt Gov re election, can that entity take money to ‘explore’ Senate race ?
p.s. AR Progressives seem to be enthused about his running – and not just generic Lincoln primary opponent – will have to check in with Eureka Springs
Good morning CBL.
Good morning all.
Thanks for the post, BT.
Yes I really think so! We have no healthcare we have no monitoring of sick people like say pig and turkey slaughters Turkeys can get swine flu immigrants tend to have slaughtering jobs swine flu started in Mexico.
I think a week or two after Thanksgiving things will get bad undercooked meat can spread the swine flu.
It is sad but crisis is sometimes the only way things get done.
mornin’ doll
Quarantine Procedures :)
Only if he does the FEC paperwork as a federal candidate. He can use the same staff. Under federal rules only the candidate and treasurer are considered campaign officials. State filing requirements may be different from federal. During my first stint as campaign treasurer I prolly drove a really helpful and pleasant guy at FEC nuts.
I see what you’re saying. Too bad we have to slam into a wall before we learn to slow down and think.
But but turkeys are born with pop up tabs to show when they are cooked. *g*
btw, apparently Halter has changed horses mid-electoral stream once before, he initially ran for Gov in 06, but switched to the Lt Gov race
Ha! You made me smile. Imagining all the women working out in those paper outfits, booties, masks, etc.
That very well might be what’s written on the Tombstone of mankind we waited on the edge one to many times.
Like a pregnant woman. When the belly button pops out, the baby’s done.
Funny Image!
But what about the Thanksgiving canned Ham?
Does it go “ding?”
That’s just got worms.
Yes, I think so. :)
Actually, I think it’s the sound of the water breaking. More like a pop, whoosh.
random item from yesterday – Teabaggers were planning a big let’s talk turkey’ event with a giant blow up turkey ( I shit you not) but named their mascot Butterball – needless to say, they are now in receipt of a cease and desist letter from Butterball corporate
as God is my witness, I thought turkeys could astroturf!
Um, guys, you’re bumming my Thanksgiving rush. I’m so looking forward to Thanksgiving Camping. Now, I’m thinking I should stick to just all the sides.
Seriously how many cases of food poisoning happen every Thanksgiving? We stuff stuffing into the bird’s guts warm bread crumbs and water a perfect place for germs to grow. Then as I remember it the kids complain about how long it takes to cook leading many a mom to pull the bird a little early.
Yeah, I know all about that. Helped deliver a baby in OR once. Actually, stood around and did what I was told to do by the midwife.
Canned Ham Swine flu…and now worms are worms Trichinoses?
Have seen many people with permanent outies. Is that a defect?
Never heard astroturf as a verb. Whatcha mean?
Sorry maybe get an organic bird?
There’s always some nice fish available. Don’t know how well stovetop stuffing goes with fish, though.
A pretty awesome event, isn’t it? And, midwives are the best!
Butterball does not want to be associated with the Teabaggers. Cool!
NPR has good coverage of the NO Army Corps case….damages awarded to these families….now many more can sue. But this will still be in the
appeal route. Very interesting.
Deep frying is quick and should kill everything
Actually, because of the whole hygiene thingy and camping, I’m doing drumsticks and breasts only. Not a whole bird. Gonna cook those parts lots and lots.
Dragon, stuffing goes well with anything, in my book anyway.
Including people standing nearby when the fryer is knocked over.
Lot of fools get burned really bad trying that the first time.
I sure wouldn’t turn it down. Hmmm, nice piece of kingfish, amberjack or grouper with all the fixin’s. And corn bread. Gotta make corn bread that morning. When Billy called last week he asked if I was makin’ corn bread.
There’s nothing like eating a nice piece of camp fire smoked fish when you’re camping at the beach. If you didn’t live so far away, I’d invite you in a heartbeat.
Oh, hell, I’d invite all y’all, iffin y’all didn’t live so far away from me.
Aw, shit. Lookit the time. Off to swim in the great capitalist cesspool.

Ok bad idea
It was a great interview.
I’m particularly impressed that he used his political muscle to secure the venue for the clinic.
FunnyWheelieDiva
I was going to say that, but, didn’t want you to think I was trying to get rid of you.
Have a great day, dear.
corporate sponsored groups fronting that they sprung organically from the grass roots (fake grass, wink wink)
It was either last year or year before last that some fool plopped a frozen bird into the outside deep fryer. The whole thing blew up and hurt a lot of folks.
It’s not a bad idea. People just have to be careful and not get too drunk. We’ve camped for Thanksgiving before and the campground is usually packed. And, there are alot of folks who bring a deep fryer. You cannot imagine how good it smells with everyone preparing their meals out in the open together. I think I’m getting hungry.
Got it. Like that idea from Charlie Brown’s Christmas special. Lucy saying snow comes up. Is that right?
where will y’all be camping ?
Wait, wasn’t that an AT&T commercial?
Well, it was, but I guess that doesn’t preclude an actual incidence…
Teh Stoopid, it (literally) Burrrrrns!

Speaking of…
Rachel was very good exposing MORE of the anti-HCR astroturf groups last night. Well worth a watch if ya missed it!

Pismo Beach. Central California. Totally awesome beach and the dog gets to go on the beach too!
And, we tent it. No frills. But, for the holiday, I bring an old lace curtain for the tablecloth and real dinnerware and wine glasses and candles. Wish you and yours could be there with us.
Niiiice!
Hope you all have a great time and good weather.

CalPoly, SLO alum…

So you know.
ps, I’ll bring my guitar and lots of wood. As long as it doesn’t rain, we’ll be fine.
Two words: Blue Tarps
Heh. Then you’re fine, even if it does rain!

Just checked the forecast. Wednesday – Sunny. Thursday – partly cloudy. Friday – Showers.
Good. We’re arriving on Wednesday and leaving on Friday.
Yes, m’am. And, we’ll remember to put the rain cover on the tent. One time we didn’t and woke up in the middle of the night all wet.
Can you provide a link or other source for this statement? I don’t believe this is accurate.
Turkey flu, not swine flu ;)
I think this will be EPU’d but did anyone see this regarding the airline delays?
A bit curious to have happen going into one of the busiest times of the year for flying.
What is going on?
Bird flu (H5N1) maybe….but a lot of things can be transmitted from undercooked poultry.
