As to be expected Liarman voted with the rethugs in an attempt to keep the Gitmo detainees out of the US. Why is this character caucusing with the dems.

Obama’s problem in Afghanistan is that the CIA is at the center of the drug trade and other corruption.

Any additional troops should be aimed at Langley.

Obama will be a fool to send any more troops to Afghanistan.

Afghanistan is rated as the second most corrupt “country” in the world. It is more like organized crime running a country.

The drug trade and corruption were there long before CIA noticed the place.

Nate is scaring me with that list of 10.

I will commit to making sure she is not President. I would personally take her on in a national debate.

As for Afghanistan policy, I suggest reading this article featuring Juan Cole.

And maybe the US can stop feeding the corruption by paying the Taliban to protect our troops. It is fuel for the perpetual motion of corruption. Cut off the funds.

If the Dems lose 26 or more seats they’ve got nobody to blame but themselves. Hopefully those 26 seats will all be Blue Dogs.

Sorry to go OT early in the thread, but Obama told CBS News that leaks on the Afghanistan policy are a firing offense. Please let it be Rahm! See my diary.

The more exposure that Cuda gets the more opportunity she has to contradict herself. Her book along with the media tour puts her pseudologia fantastica in full view.

A lesson for traveling abroad: Make two copies of passport; hide one in luggage; leave the other with relatives or friend back home.

Precisely. It is just like pre-Fidel Cuba. A US puppet deeply in bed with the US mob and government all at the expense of the actual people of Cuba (outside the few “chosen” elites).

The US NEVER backs the truly good and proper leader, ALWAYS the corrupt, easily molded dictator.

Corporate profits over everything thing else!

Yes, they should.

Does he know his passport number? If not, does he have a copy at home that you can get to?

An FYI: When I travel I write my passport number on my arm (out-of-view) in Sharpie just in case I am robbed or get sick. Then, I have it in a location accessible to recite over the phone or for a doctor to see.

Gives women a bad name. But then, there are plenty of men who do the same for their gender. Just that women can afford it less.

WRT Afghanistan:

Mr Obama also told CNN in China his new strategy would emphasise an “end game”.

That’s a good sign. McChrystal’s Evil Australian Guru wants us to stay there for the next fifty years — hence his call for 40,000 troops. Obama wouldn’t be talking about an end game if he was on board for this nonsense.

See the movie “Charlie Wilson’s War” for the “shorter” or “lighter” version of the more recent history of Afganistan conflicts. We armed the Taliban and other war lords to defeat the Russians, but then we dropped the ball and left. The armed Taliban took over after that.

That part of the world has always had a huge drug trade, which the CIA has willingly endorsed to get money (read John LeCarre for the “shorter” or “light” version of the spy world and how it makes money).

I never supported the war in Afganistan because I always knew this would be the result. I’m not a military strategist or psychic, but blind bob (tip of the hat to me Aussie mates) could see that the Bush Admin was only in it for the money. They had no strategy – either current or exit. If they had sent in a military strike force to REALLY get bin Laden (never was going to happen, IMHO, because of the long-standing alliance & friendship between the Bush & bin Laden crime families), then maybe. But we all saw what happened with that: the Seals (or whoever they were) probably were very close to capturing bin Laden in the Tora Bora hills, and BINGO! Bush predictably calls the dogs off, and that was that. We’ll never capture bin Laden, if he’s still alive.

The Afgani’s have a society very different from ours, and they are fighting to save THEIR country. Numerous countries have tried and failed to defeat them over many centuries. It’s Viet Nam Part II. So stupid. Such a waste of lives, time, money, etc. But dickbreath cheney giggles and chuckles all the way to his off-shore accounts, and the CIA enjoys the fruits of their ill-gotten gains (just as the CIA did during Viet Nam)… twas ever thus.

As for Bible Spice: as a feminist I cringe that this is what is held up as some kind of an example of something or other. I am a female “of a certain age” who has knocked my head against many a glass ceiling & fought the good feminist fight to improve the lives of women everywhere. To think that I fought so hard so that this grifter… oh well, nevermind. I see too many women BOWING to the snowbilly, and I really have to turn my head and look the other way.

The corporate media loves them some Caribou Barbie because she is ratings gold. Sad commentary on our life here these days, but we are all being led around by the corporations who are just in it for the money.

Palin is pathologically driven to get even with any and all who she deems have wronged her. Whether they be national news anchors, beat reporters, or local bloggers, she seems driven to seek revenge on her enemies. She is likewise pathologically incapable of telling the truth. In her defense, she may be so deluded that in inner workings of her tiny little mind, she actually believes her version of reality.

She is a mendacious, inarticulate clod who needs to be exposed for her compendium of lies that she is currently pedaling. She should never again be allowed to run for any public office without answering for her pettiness and her dishonesty.

Whoops, there I go generalizing. Sorry Demi.
