Believing that something is true is easy enough. And it can be far, far removed from actually being able to demonstrate that it is true. You simply believe it is.

Thus, Palin believes in creationism. End of story. If she believes it then, for her, it’s true.

If pressed, she can fall back on the tautology of religion:

Creationism is true. Why? Because it says so in the Bible. Why is the Bible true? Because it is the word of God. Why is it the word of God? Because it says so in the Bible.

Around and around the True Believers go.

But Broder comes a lot closer to the, uh, truth? There is no “perfect course of action”. There are only the consequences of action that favor some more than others.

I call this proposal a ‘business license/tax’, to do business in our economy you have to support the economy by your own practices.

we can call it rent, and they can get rent form us too…in this manner each respective country has an interest in a local economy, supporting their populace

nice

my point is, if we actually attach that tax to social security we will know where it goes, the amount that’s collected and where it is invested

one thing I agree with the republicans, there is some waste in government projects, if we are transparent, where the revenue goes, where it is invested and the returns on those investments people would be much less likely to ask for “tax cuts”

European nations suggested a tax on traded investments, say a penny per share (or other investment form) for buyer and seller. It would produce trillions (although there might be less trading than there is today) but Geithner opposed it. If governments are going to be the house for this casino, they should get a piece of the action. I don’t know if Geithner had Obama’s blessing. If he didn’t he should be fired. That’s Obama’s problem. He can’t seem to make up his mind. If he’s waiting for someone to propose a reasonable exit strategy for Afghanistan, good luck to him. The only reasonable exit strategy is to get out as quickly as possible.
