Lou Dobbs has long been a rarity on the cable news scene: an angry old paranoid white guy who yells a lot and gets stuff wrong. Given the Harsh Discrimination the Liberal Media inflicts upon angry old paranoid white guys who yell a lot and get stuff wrong, it’s amazing that Dobbs even had a teevee show in the first place. His was an Important Voice: an angry, old, paranoid, loud, inaccurate, white voice, practically the only one on the airwaves, except for all the other ones.
And now Lou Dobbs has been fired! Oh yeah, right, he “resigned.” Ha! AS IF. NewsBusters, as always, asks the hard-hitting questions:
Has Lou Dobbs been forced out at CNN by the left-wing attack machine and other liberal forces? Quite possibly.
Quite definitely!!!! It is for sure!!!!!! There are not enough exclamation points in the world to prove how for sure it is!!!!!!!! (Have you noticed, by the way, how Mexicans keep stealing honest hardworking American exclamation points and turning them upside down? And how they do the SAME THING WITH QUESTION MARKS? If the Mexicans can sneak into Our country and invert punctuation, tell me they’re not powerful enough to get Lou Dobbs canned. The logic here is inescapable.)
Besides, as the way sharp NewsBustards commenters point out, if you look at the NY Times story about how Lou Dobbs got, in effect, deported, you’ll see that the first sentence doesn’t say “illegal immigration,” but the last sentence does, which is you see incredibly clear evidence as if we even needed any that, uh, CNN is an acronym for Mexican Islamofascism 4eva. In Kenyan.
Anyhow, what’s next for Lou Dobbs? A Fox News gig seems likeliest, but it’s just possible that he has his gimlet eyes set on the political sphere — maybe even the Senate! And that would be great!
Because if there’s on thing we need, it would finally be to get an angry old paranoid white guy who yells a lot and gets stuff wrong into the Senate. It’s a sadly underrepresented demographic.

I had the rather unfortunate timing last evening to witness a small portion of Anderson Cooper’s show. From my perspective, he seemed to be pandering quite earnestly toward the paranoia/batshit wing of reporting. Not in Fox league yet, certainly, but it was clear that he has aspirations…

The idea of Loud Obbs and Party together is just, um, ludicrous. And what do you supposed happened to The Empire Dobbs within CNN? David Sirota described in his book The Uprising how Loud has a walled-off group of employees within CNN who answer only to him.

When political appointees are forced to resign over delusional Right-wing attacks, it’s hailed as a victory. When a voter advocacy group has its funding slashed over ridiculous and illegal sting operations, it’s considered justice. But when a crazy Republican coot finally combines employer embarrassment with low ratings and loses his broadcasting job (an industry not noted for long-term employment) it’s somehow the treasonous attacks of crazed hippies.
What I wouldn’t give for actual journalism somewhere.

I swore I wouldn’t turn into one of those old ladies who whined about ‘What’s becoming of this world’… But by george, I’ve changed my mind. At least 3/4 of the people I see on the teevee are batshit crazy in one way or the other. I just do not get who these people are that think the way they do, and where did they come from who are the people who thought it would be a good idea to put them on the air in front of God ‘an everybody else.

Angry and paranoid- not good. The last time I checked, however, “white” and “guy” are functions of birth and not something easily, or often, changed. And “old” (if one is to count 64 years of age as old) generally is far better than not living to attain that status.
It’s fascinating, really, to listen periodically to the bigoted ramblings of the invariably right, consistently wrong, Rush Limbaugh. And then to read a bigoted entry from the left. Interesting, but disheartening.

No, these fellows are not particularly young. But to accuse them (as you seem to be doing) of being “old,” does violence to the concept of age. And most of the others are younger and/or female, as a glance at MSNBC’s daytime lineup would indicate.
There is a lot not to like about- for example- Hannity, but being white, “old,” and male, are not among them. His ideas appear to emanate from being misinformed- but then ideas seem unimportant to you.
Rachel Maddow, incidentally, is only 36 years of age. And at last glance, not male.
