In the midst of spouting the suddenly-universal right-wing talking point about how the Fort Hood shooter was protected by “political correctness,” Pat Robertson makes this fascinating claim about Islam:
[Y]ou are dealing with not a religion. You’re dealing with a political system. And I think we should treat it as such and treat its adherents as such as we would members of the Communist Party or members of some fascist group.
I could probably take this a lot more seriously if it wasn’t coming from someone who believes that it is the duty of good Christians like himself to take over the Republican Party as a vehicle to “‘Christianize’ [America]’s social and political institutions.”
And it’s more than a little rich for Pat to call Islam oppressive when he’s been working for decades to turn America into a theocracy where gays can’t touch each other, and women are meek subservient breeders who must carry all pregnancies to term regardless of rape/incest/health risks/unexpelled miscarriage.
Oh, and the fact that he’s a xenophobic ignoramus doesn’t exactly help either.
