Pictured: the product of amnesty.
The Club for Growth/Teabagger candidate for Senate in Florida, who’s challenging the NRSC’s Charlie Crist in a primary, apparently thinks we should forcibly deport 14 million people from the country.
As an underdog U.S. Senate candidate courting the GOP’s conservative wing, Marco Rubio takes a hard-line position against illegal immigration: no amnesty. [...] The son of Cuban exiles born in Miami says he opposed the proposal spearheaded in 2006 by former Sen. Mel Martinez — whose early retirement triggered Rubio’s 2010 campaign — that would have allowed illegal immigrants to work toward citizenship. Crist supported the bill.
Indeed, Rubio recently smacked Crist for that position on the stump.
“He supported cap and trade,” Rubio said of Crist. “He supported the stimulus package. He supported amnesty for illegal aliens. These are all major issues that are going to be coming up in Washington.
So how did Rubio’s parents, who fled Castro’s Cuba in 1959, get in? Yep, they were granted amnesty.
Shortly after Castro won control, some elite Cubans fled to Miami. As the flow grew, Presidents Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy, and Lyndon Johnson used the parole power to admit them. From 1959 to the Cuban missile crisis of 1962, more than 200,000 arrived.
Once again, IOKIYAR — or in this case, IOKIYACR.

About Firedoglake
What is this guy’s chances in Florida?
I’m really starting to dislike this guy.
Club for Growth…sounds like an organization promoting hair solutions for bald men. Or *ahem* male enhancement.
Ah Mario. “Amnesty for me and mine but not for thee and thine”
Or in other words, “Hey! I’m in, you can close the doors and leave now”
Another edition of “I got mine. Screw you!”
This guy knows he is brown right? The Minute Men will Never love him. Hispanics will see him as a bitch to the Racists.
Any Man who would sell out his own is not a Man and if Marco has any doubts about where he belongs ask him what does he think would happen if INS or the Minute Men found him near the Mexican border.
Hard to tell. The Cuban-American community is changing. The old moustache petes that came over in the 60s are old and dying off. The younger CA’s are a different breed of cat. They were born here and don’t have the ties their parents/grandparents had. Crist’s numbers are dropping primarily because the white conservatives don’t like him. Going to be very interesting to watch.
Meek, the Dem candidate, is just another ConservaDem. Having a lot of trouble garnering support among the Dems.
Back to work.
Namaste
So will this Candidate answer any questions about local issues the last tea bagger candidate seemed to have a problem with that.
Can congressman Meeks beat him in a general?
I’d hit it.
Sellout Hispanics wining office its horrible to think he can win. Is Sarah going to endorse this loser too? Please say she is endorsing him.
Shortly after Castro won control, some elite Cubans fled to Miami.
Mobsters, the lot of ‘em.
Being born in Miami makes him American. Don’t be picking on Americans, just because they’re Brown Americans. /s
Seriously? He looks too uptight.
Don’t get me started on immigration…I am reaching for the duct tape to apply to my mouth.
Just a thought in passing from here in the Sonoran Desert.
Jaango
This guy looks like a kid. You have to be 30 to be in the senate.
And he is really pretty. Looks about 15 years old.
Why is the Club for Growth backing a racist.
Hahahahahaha
The Corporate Wing of the GOP is seeking Common Man Cred by backing racists interesting.
Start with what you know no matter how obvious and work up from there:)
Floor ah dee…birth place of the ‘Nutbag Parr tee’?
If the US had recognized Castro and opened relations with Cuba early on, it is doubtful that we would have had the problems that have ensued from trying to isolate them. We were able to overlook Russia’s communism and even, eventually China’s communism.
Racism used to appeal to Hispanics. The GOP thinks they can separate Hispanic votes from Obama by using racism.
Wow, file under “piece of work.”
The Florida teabagger primary’s going to be interesting. And by interesting I mean ugly. Just wait till Rubio’s outing Crist.
Between Florida, Maine, and California (and who knows where else?), the GOP primaries are gonna be a bloodbath.
aka the Tea Party?
Just wait till Rubio’s outing Crist.
And then Rubio’s lover outs Rubio. ;)
Charlie Crist Says “Oh My Word!” When The Burger King Puts It In His Mouth
The GOP knows everything this traitor says will hurt them with Hispanics Nationally.
Oh my word, indeed!
He’ll fit in perfectly with Jeff Sessions
I wonder if Newt, Jeff, Sarah etc will endorse this Tea Bagger Racist we can then use their endorsement of this sellout to rally Hispanic voters.
Don’t know when I have enjoyed anything more than this. !
I wonder if asked about his race what would he say? I bet he will say he is white the press should ask him.
The Minute Men will laugh their ass off if Marco says he is white. Hispanics will see a kid desperate to be liked who probably washes his hands allot to get the brown off.
Ah, but they don’t think he’s a queer, which is their main objection to Charlie Crist. (Well, that and those times when he actually acts in the best interests of his state, such as stumping with Obama for the stimulus plan.)
He looks Spaniard white to me, wonder how mixed his blood is.
Yep. Crist has become part of the looney left. s/
The term of art is ‘gusano.’
He’s 38 YO and a former speaker of the Florida House.
The consequences of having the Cuban “example” that needed to be dissuaded caused the US to accelerate the instigation of untold atrocities throughout Latin America.
Much of the successful political pressure to do this came from the Cuban exile community in Southern Florida; AIPAC took notes.
Gosh I must be getting old. *g*
Actually, the first ones over were the rich landowner supporters of Batista. The sugar barons of FL were Batista’s boys and desperately want to return to Cuba to reclaim their plantations. The goons from Lansky’s casinos and brothels came a little later.
Could be but many hispanics who can pass claim to be 100% Spanish, however Marco has dark hair tanned skin a Spanish last name. I want him to claim to be White combine that with his immigration views and he looks like a Wanna Be a Desperate Wanna Be .
Now you’ve gone and made me want to watch “Godfather II.” Again.
Gay is worse than an Uncle Tom? I really want Marco to lose.
Alan Grayson beat the incumbent last year in a tilts-Repub district because of all the anti immigrant hate spread by said incumbent and his Party – keep it up Rubio, burn as much of your Party’s money as you can :D
He leads by words not by example, duh…. /s
Speaking from the panhandle, it’s for sure going to be a cat fight. Crist was very well liked until this year irregardless of his personal life. I’d say it’s running about 50/50 here. Lot of the locals will have a difficult time deciding if they loathe someone from S FL more than they do Crist. Hard to tell. Most of our local loudmouths don’t really ever vote… just like to whine.
Where in the panhandle? My son lived in Navarre until he transfered to Minot, ND.
The teabagger revolt is really all about that: do they vote? Or do they find more pleasure in whining, and then saying “Don’t Blame ME!” regardless of the outcome?
We’ll see, I guess. But Rubio is proving to be serious, locally and nationally. I think lotsa folks weren’t fooled by Charlie’s marriage, and would just as soon he no longer stand for Florida.
P’cola… Home of Morning Joe! Yep, we tend to think P’cola is the whole of the panhandle…
I don’t think many cared one way or the other when Charlie got married.. everybody knew what it was about, but the repubs here were glad to have a veil of ‘respectability’… Very hard to say this time. Most of the people I’ve run into who are what I would call tea-baggers have probably never voted in their lives. They just like raisin’ hell. Spittin’ and chewin’ and scratchin’ in public.
BT, I’m late to your thread, but interesting.
Of course, you could equally well have titled it “…opposes amnesty for everyone not Cuban.”
Doesn’t everyone know that Cuban immigrants are “different?” They’re refugees, for pity’s sake!/s
And TCU, I seriously doubt that Rubio sees himself as anything but white. Now, as SD said, the younger generation varies much more, but older Cubans and Cuban-Americans do not identify with other “Hispanics,” you know. They see themselves as separate from Mexicans or Puerto Ricans, let alone more recent immigrants from other Latin American countries. Those first couple decades of Cuban immigrants were pretty much white – darker-skinned Cubans mostly seem to have welcomed the Revolution, and didn’t start leaving the island until much, much later.
Money corrupts and as always–THE AMERICAN PEOPLE–come last to copious Campaign contribution, family vacations, sexual favors and undisclosed gifts. Any clean shaved, newly voted politician is rapidly corrupted once he reaches the halls of power. Honest perhaps at the beginning–but being ostracized by his own party members, soon turns the page? Demanding lobbyists have been in the corruption business since the first President. A good example is the commencing Comprehensive Immigration Reform. Wait and see? Don’t believe it? Go to JUDICIAL WATCH and NUMBERSUSA for the ugly details on corruption in high places?

Just may be GOP Marco Rubio could be an enlightened voice in the wilderness. Either parties are to blame for the massive financial predicament each state is in regarding the 20 to 30 million illegal aliens and families. They have swarmed into the border states and nearly bankrupted California–a SANCTUARY STATE–with Arizona close behind. State legislators scare of their own shadows have pushed for welfare entitlement for these impoverished people. The loser is the US taxpayer, who can hardly keep his family, car and mortgage above water.

The Cubans do have a different immigration policy, the famous “wet foot, dry foot.” If you can make it out of whatever you came across the straits in and can get your foot on solid land, you are in. If you get caught by the coast guard, back you go. Most HighSpanics do not consider themselves people of color because they have pure European blood. No one ever jumped the fence in their families.
ZOMG WERE DROWNING IN BROWN PEOPLE!!!11!!
The dude thinks he is better than the brown Mexicans, Salvadorians, etc…
Rubio was President of the Fla Senate or House speaker so he is not a carpetbagging teabagger. ha ha ha
Jethro Bodine in a suit.
another repug pretty face ignoramus ala Baracuda.
