ZED!! Hi Suz…
OH and it is not a drive by ZED…
hey nahant — nice zedsmanship
Great tune Suz
I have always loved that song!
i heard you were fighting a bug
Queen was my first concert with my school friends. Think Lizzy opened. Tickets were $7.50! We got soo dressed up in glitter and vintage clothes. I LOVE QUEEN, up to and including Day at the Races, after that, not so much, but that’s like 5 awesome records!
is that anything like penmanship??
hey lisa — how’s the la area tonight? i regret not having seen queen
ya do get the zed quite often
twas a congratulations dood — how’s the bay area?
Yeah The youngest came down with it last week and I have been fighting it since Friday… Seems I have bad moments and good ones with this one… just hope it leaves soon..
Chillin and maybe we will get more rain??? How about up north Suz?
fingers and toes crossed dood
bands of showers (some are more bands of drenching) moving through all week long. had 10.12 inches of total rainfall since october 1st
Hey Suz, hey everyone :-) I remember listening to Live Aid on the radio while I was at work that weekend; it totally rawked.
hey LL – wasn’t it also simulcast on HBO or something? how’s va tonight?
Hi, kids. I had an interesting time in the little hours last night….fire dept. tried to break into my home to answer a 911 from my neighbor across the street. All is well and they put my screens back up…..nothing like finding a bunch of good looking big guys in rubber suits at 1:15 a.m. taking your screens down. “What’s up.” “This is XXX Street, right?” ” Well, umm, no — that’s over there.” “Oops, we’ll be back to put your screens back on.” And they did do that; and the neighbor who fell and couldn’t get up is fine…tho her door is busted. In the past few weeks I’ve had eathquake, tsunami warning, fires in the hills, winds from the east and winds from the west………and now this. I’m ready for some quiet time!
Freddie Mercury, what a character, bigger than a ball of fire, blazing and then, snuffed out.
What a trail he left in the sky, though.
Never really cared for Queen, glam rock and such, but ya can’t deny what Freddy Mercury brought to the arena and the impact he had on so many others.
Me? I was always a Fee Waybill fan, him and Them White Punks.
*G*
holy shit dearie… were they at least very cute firefighters?
maybe it is time to take a vacation from the south end of the ca central coast?
hey larue — how’s sac tonight?
I believe it was, either HBO or MTV (can’t remember if VH1 was around at that point) — I do remember seeing some on TV when I was home.
VA is quiet and reflective tonight; we’re remembering the fall of 2002 and the DC sniper craziness. I remain conflicted as ever about the death penalty, but I can’t help feeling a bit of relief. I’m not a fearful person, but those three weeks in October 2002 instilled a panic in me and everyone else around here until it was over.
Royal!
eep, dearie!
Too much excitement! Hope things calm way down, but soon!
Glad your neighbor is OK, though.
FWDiva
panic wasn’t just in the dc area — folks were fearful all over the land.
All firefighters are cute! Yep, I’m going to go north with babygirl and her twins to see powergirl and her daughter in Montana soon….looking forward to it. Grandmothering is the best job I’ve ever had! And the big cute men in rubber suits were real gentlemen and not at all scary.
I love Queen too.
I work for 911, and I can attest that firefighters are cute ;-)
Oh no doubt — you just never knew where or when it would happen next.
everyone always likes the firefighters when they accidently try to break into the wrong house — cops do the same thing and the yelling doesn’t stop (laughing)
hey margot — how’s ohio tonight?
exposed a vulnerability that no one wants to admit is there.
Partly cloudy, hi’s in the mid 60’s, lo’s in the low to mid 40’s.
I still have yellow pear tomato plants flowering, fruiting and being picked out our front door!!!
Wicked crazy, I worked my ass off in March and thru the summer, got shit, and now seeds from fallen tomatoes started growing August, and are bigger and better now than anything I cultivated on pots or in the ground out back.
Killin me, but hey, GOOD THOUGH! *G*
I used to work in downtown Oxnard and whenever they were recruiting for firefighters we’d all just watch in amazement — is there some cuteness test that guys have to go through just to be able to apply to be firefighters?
hey kelly — didn’t see ya come in — sorry about that
how’s denver tonight?
Well, maybe if y’all went back to put the screens back up? ;-)
FWDiva
You got that right Suz!
Heh, there must be! ;-)
dang dood — tomatoes in november? wow
My FAV White Punks!
*G*
hey funny — how’s seattle tonight?
Good, how’s Oregon?
saw them when i was living in boulder creek — halloween show at the ‘haunted’ brookdale lodge
great forking show and they sure partied hard — onstage and backstage (i had backstage pass)
wet but ok :) still getting bands of showers — and will do so all week
Chilly and wet, same-same.
Glad it’s bands of showers, though. I caught a walk yesterday during a dry break.
FWDiva
Hi Suz! No worries…
Denver is mild tonight. We’ll put the wild in it later this week. Prolly snow over the weekend, but nothing like the last go ’round.
We’re supposed to get the remnants of TS Ida around here overnight and into tomorrow — just peeked at the radar and it’s mighty green just south of here, and creeping north.
had dinner at the pelican brew pub at cape kiwanda tonight with my landlord. some lightning off shore but nothing like over the weekend.
*waving to Margot* :-)
stephanie (the former baby girl) arrived in co today. they drove in from ks and are going to hunker down up near greely for the winter.
Weee!
You just love “Styrene Foam”
Gee Our Country sure treats our Vet Great:
2,266 Veterans Died In 2008 Because They Were Uninsured
What The Fuck is wrong with that ever happening when we owe them so much… Fucking Pukes took away many Vets right to the VA system by instituting “Means Test” Ya right make more than 26k and you don’t get your bennies…
Happy Veterans Day my ass not when just one Vet is denied his rights!
judas forking priest. you should diary this nahant…. fuckers *spitting*
*waving to Kelly too* Haven’t made the pleasure of your acquaintance yet, but have seen you around FDL and I feel like I know you already ;-)
Hey, you have my email.
Tell her to holler if they need a decent meal or to use the wifi and stay down here a night or 2. Greely is only about a 90 minute drive, and WY is in the WRONG direction, if you ask me; unless you can drive all the way through it.
I have capacity and pasta! Hah!
Definitely worth a diary…that is criminal.
I hear ya Larue I am having the same thing happening here… whoda thunk fresh garden tomatoes in November??
she’s planning on bible college in wyoming starting the spring term. i’ll pass on your invite
Hi LL! really good to see you when you stop by.;)
*waving back*
Hi!
[nervously wonders "What in the HELL did I do that LoudounLib knows me?]
kellly is the former unconventional conventionalist who became kellyc in denver and then came fully out
you’ve been around a long time kelly — of course ll, another long timer, would know you :)
Good to see you too Margot, and I hope all is well with you and yours :-)
It is part of the study done by Harvard that also stated that 47K die each year from the very same lack of medical care. What a great country we have to let those in need die for some fat ass CEO to make millions on their dead bodies…
No worries hon! I lurk here more often than not, and I just really enjoy what you write :-)
What Suzanne said.
26K? Seriously? That’s POVERTY income in many areas of the country!
key-RIST.
Spit.
FWDiva
Write it up my friend, and I’ll be in line to recommend it. Our veterans deserve so much more than what they get.
what ll said (standing in line with her)
Sadly, I can’t find The Tubes on Youtube doing ‘Monkey Time’, with Martha Davis of The Motels doing her thang with Fee Waybill . . . . that was a classic tune, with some class lines.
Fee: “Are you ready Martha? I’m ready, and my monkey’s ready, too!”
Martha: “Hooo, you better keep that thing on a chain.”
Roughly paraphrased, that is.
Sigh.
Hot childs in the city.
*G*
monkey man
Monkey Time on Shindig, for Larue — not the one you’re looking for, but still ;-)
Runnin wild in The City.
All the halls, Kabuki Nightclub, others.
Loved The Tubes.
And Leila And The Snakes Aka Pearl Harbor And The Explosions.
Good times.
Monkey Time led to The Monkees, couldn’t help myself!
the monkees led to the banana splits
All summer long the heat and dawg knows what caused flowers to bloom, and die, and never set fruit.
What fruits I got from all the varietys were undersized, and few and far inbetween.
I got NO phreakin clue . . . *G*
Other than, ‘maters don’t like it too much over 85-90F. In Sac, it’s ALWAYS over that!
But my neighbors had bumper crops, in two separate places..
I’m just not cut out to be a farmer, I guess. Next summer, I’m putting up light mesh netting.
Weee! And thanks for you helping on the outing-ness.
I’m not snarking, I mean that.
Suz was very helpful to me in my mission, which was to synchronize my comments all over the commenting systems. So I am me over disqus, Kos, Halo and FDL.
It’s not for everybody, at all, but it is now very important for me.
I say, to the extent you can, get OUT and be yourself on the blogosphere. I’d love to see a movement for this, particularly on the Left side of the ’sphere.
The reasons why are Courage, Clarity, Certainty. These are the principles that matter, whether you are in or out of your particular closet.
Just notice; the most influential bloggers [exclude Digby for the moment] use their own name anymore. And there are more on the left, than on the right.
For me, it’s the time. And thank you Suz and the Mod for fixing that situation for me.
hee hee, that takes me back Suz ;-)
Dearie, years ago I found firemen trying to take down my front door with an axe. Daytime, no one else around. I was on dial-up so they couldn’t get into the building via the telephone entry system. Broken gas main in the street — they knew someone was there because my phone was busy. Sirens were pointless because of a nearby hospital.
Cute as pie, all dressed out in their rubber suits. Dangerous business. One grabbed me, another grabbed my golden, and out we went. No time for my purse, but time for the dog. Excellent priorities.
Beggars Banquet! Or was it Let It Bleed?
One of their best.
Great lyrics!
hey sunny — how ya doing tonight?
tis a grand ole song larue — i always think of it when monkeys come up
Hey Sunny!
Gotta love ‘em; they’re the good guys. My group was so quietly sweet once they figured out that they were trying to rescue the wrong old lady…..I’m telling you, I am very fond of firefighters!
Courtesy of XM’s Soul channel, this one’s been stuck in my head lately —
It’s Gonna Work Out Fine
OK OK here ya go http://seminal.firedoglake.com/diary/14165
my dad taught me to run out of burning buldings. i would rather deal with a man with a gun call than a fire (shrudder)

Yep, the classic one from my top 40 early teen AM Radio years!
Never knew it was originally written by Curtis Mayfield.
Well! Look What I Found!
Ya gotta click on the listen link, that opens a new player window for the whole song.
The spoken stuff as at end of the song. Great stuff!
Hey LL. Any new kitty pix?

We need change we can count on.
She’s my li’l sweetie pie Suz ;-)
the grape ape show
Thank ya Suz and LL. This is way too fucking wrong. And you have the whole Republican Party except one brave one from Louisiana… God bless him… against Health Care reform when we have Not just 47K dying but 2226 Veterans dying also… They have been betrayed by the Republicans, and they say they care for our Veterans! Whats that saying?? “All Talk And No Action” Well I guess they did take action when they instituted means tests instead of fully funding the VA so they Could provide medical care!! Assholes!!
she’s a doll for sure ll
What a ginormous paw :-)
Zappa on “The Monkees!
All talk and no action indeed — the Rethugs continually prove themselves to be a bunch of hypocrites.
She’s got big feets ;-)

Those guys should be marching on DC. It’s immoral.

But as for me, I’m running out of steam so I’d better split. Great seeing and talking with you all, as always!
*poof*
I JUST learnt last night that Elvis C had been married to Cait O’Riordan, a bass player for The Pogues, they were married in ‘86.
And tonight I just found out that Costello had married Canadian sanger Diana Krall!!!!! Whom he’s still married to, I believe!
I’ve never known if Cait O’Riordan was related to Dolores O’Riordan of The Cranberries. LOVE that band and Dolores!
Funny World!
70707070707070707’s!!!!!!!
g’nite ll — stay safe
nite LL sleep well..
Ta!
What a great voice, thanks Emerson. How did I miss this group?
Good lord, haven’t heard that since I stopped playing vinyl a few decades ago!
Think it came off of 12 x 5? ‘64 or ‘65 at latest.
GREAT song, great era for them doing R&B covers and writing their first songs in the first three (four) albums.
Always confused as some Brit releases never made it here, and some US releases never made it there, others were compiled into yet a third release!
Loved it all, though. GREAT pick! *G*
*laughing* in larue’s world everything circles back around to dolores
its like 6 degrees of separation or something dood
Oh yeah, early, too, about the time I started working, age 14 or so.
‘nite LL. Love it when you bring kitty pix.
heart full of soul
Never saw that one! Wow!
Saw him once in his later years, late 70’s or so, some show at Oakland Coliseum.

Answered my own question: YES!
WSJ: AIG CEO Robert Benmosche Ready To Quit Over Pay Constraints
NEW YORK — After just three months as head of battered insurer American International Group, Robert Benmosche has threatened to leave his post as he struggles to deal with heavy government oversight and restrictions on what the bailed-out company wants to pay employees, according to a published report.
Citing unnamed people familiar with the matter, The Wall Street Journal reported online late Tuesday that Benmosche told AIG’s board he was “done” with the job, although he reportedly is reconsidering his stance in the face of the board’s dismay.
According to the people, the former MetLife CEO is frustrated with the constraints of leading a company majority-owned by the government, the paper said. The Journal said Benmosche has complained to AIG’s board about the outcome of the Treasury Department’s pay review which slashed pay for a number of AIG executives by 91 percent from 2008. WSJ:
Last week, Mr. Benmosche and other AIG board members met with Mr. Feinberg in New York. During the three-hour meeting, board members discussed difficulties of complying with pay policies and retaining talent at the company. Mr. Benmosche’s frustrations “hit a crescendo,” said a person familiar with the matter. “Bob feels he is in an impossible situation,” the person added.
Just what kind of Fuckery do these people think we will take before it is pitch forks and torches!!
too big to fail my ass. buncha greedy bastoids deserve to be taken down.
got the dentist again tomorrow — so i gotta head out early tonight. my apologies for doing so.
g’nite and thanks for all the great music and conversations tonight.
Things here are good. Working my way down a to do list. Next up, my eyes. My license will expire very soon and my distance vision sucks…. as does aging.
Recently saw license rules for some western state (WY or MT maybe)that expressly *prohibit* requiring vision tests for anyone over 65. Amazing.
Snuggle in, Suzanne, and thanks for being a safe place for so many of us……..smiles.
best wishes Suz at the Dentist….
SS Johnny was some of Bruce’s first gigs! LONG before he had E Street Band.
bull shit! just advertise for employees..
He went to Europe and did very well, but was always a bit in Bruce’s shadow. I loved him! They’re all still friends.

Nahant, have ya read FDL posts on Sen. Chris Dodd’s reform legislation he’s proposed? Along with Barney Franks? Wall Streeters are running scared ass crazy, and even Rahm is worried he can’t stop regulatory reform in its tracks for the Dem’s Patrons Of Big Biz.
We got ourselves a fight on our hands!
Course, I thought we had a good fight with healthcare reform, too, now, it’s surrender monkey sitch.
Sigh.
Niters to Suz and all Pups, thanks for the chats!
Hope Suz does well at the mouf doc tomorrow!
Get some glasses sunny… I know I had to, at first just for reading… then (:>((
And yes this getting old crap sure bites the big one
yeah but Dodd is starting with a strong hand and he WILL get lots of support for his bill. Wall Street and the Bankers ARE shitting in their pants at the thought of what Dodd wants to do to them. And boy do they deserve to be screwed, blued and Tattooed!!
Guess I will join the leaving Pups..
Nite all..
Yes indeed. Having my license snatched and taking a taxi home from the DMV isn’t on the to do list.
Dam, got lost in the high toobz again. Good luck Suz and g’nite pups.
