It’s an old tactic. Using projection of their attitudes and intentions as a sucker punch to disarm critics from attacking them on those exact issues. It reduces clear observation to the media’s obligatory he said-she said framework of false equivalency. It distracts focus from who exactly are the real totalitarians who want to control individual freedom.

No, not Link, but it looks like Democracy Now might come on in the wee hours on the same channel as CSPAN, but right now all it says for the whole Ch 22 is “TBD”. There are several radio stations around SF Bay area to get it, though.

We can also thank weak leadership in the House. Now it’s in the Senate and with Lieberman’s threat the healthcare bill will be compromised even further rendering it meaningless except for bigPharma and the insurance companies.

At the risk of being yelled at here, I think I’m going to wait a minute and see what happens. It was my understanding of the situation that Pelosi never wanted the amendment in the bill and only added it at the last minute to get the passage of the bill, which was what, by one extra vote? I can see it from two perspecitives. I like forward progress, but I also would have been okay if the stinker hadn’t passed. I don’t care for the cumbersome, back scratching, lobbyist driven process altogether.
Nancy is a strong women, and her Catholicism aside, I believe stands for women’s rights. I believe she will do what she can and I don’t think a call from me will make a difference.

Well, that will ensure that there will be at least 64 Dems in the House that will vote for it this time round.

I completely understand and I will be calling her Office to ask if Pelosi will support the final Bill if it contains Stupak’s amendment. I hope that I get a woman on the line, because I’ll also ask her what she thinks of the amendment, as well.

If I were in the House, all other things I don’t like about the bill excluded, the Stupak Amendment was a 100% deal breaker. I’d have cast the first Nay vote so fast it’d make their heads spin. Promises or assurances from any level of the Dem leadership are worthless. Absolutely worthless.

I hope there are enough Dems who are sensible enough to realize that if it stays in, they’re toast in 2010 & 2012.

I was offline all day yesterday, a dead hard drive, so maybe this has been addressed or questioned and I missed it. I would think it would be good to have the names of the dems who insisted on Barf’s amendment being in the bill. Those are the people who deserve a phone call, I think.

I just called the office of my congressperson – Kanjorski – and told them that because of his vote on the amendment that I would be working against him and would even vote for a republican over him. He is a major corporatist crook anyway.

My experience in the past with calling and speaking to staff members has been some what frustrating. They usually can’t even tell me how their person is going to vote, let alone explain to me why some one would vote for the stupid amendment and then not vote for the bill. But, I’ve got some time today and will make some calls.

So apparently, right-wing pro-tribal bigotry and the Republican double-standard is so omnipervasive that the *kind* of McCarthyist you are determines whether you’re the Good McCarthyist or a Bad McCarthyist.

If you demonize your opponents, and accuse them of wanting to destroy America, you’re a Good McCarthyist.

If you try to provide healthcare for people who aren’t the preferred customers of the health insurance cabal, you’re a Bad McCarthyist.
