Rep. Bart Stupak
Stupak (n) – The sepsis commonly experienced after unsafe back alley abortions
Today, Urban Dictionary has posted this definition:
2. Stupak: A medical condition (subset of sepsis) resulting from unsafe – unnecessarily so – back alley abortions as a result of the “Stupak Amendment” to the 2009 Health Care Reform Bill.
Doctor: Unfortunately, while this would have been covered under private insurance carriers, public plans were barred from including women’s health measures. I’m sorry, you’ll have to see “Dr. Julio” in the alley behind 7-11.(Three weeks later.)
Doctor: I believe you’ve developed Stupak, a form of sepsis, a severe illness in which the bloodstream is overwhelmed by bacteria.
Head on over to Urban Dictionary to vote for definition #2. Bart Stupak is about to be Santorum’d, and he won’t know what hit him.

Good evening, everyone.
primary the forker — #2 voted up
hey teddy
Teddy!!
This asshat needs to be back on the streets selling pencils at the earliest opportunity. Seems to me that we have some serious primary recruiting to do in the next year or so.
Okay, I voted for #2. Primary the bastard.
Not just him, but every Dem who voted for this abomination.
DING!
May they crack their (so-called) balls and fornicate with sheep.
the sheep would reject them and send them to the goats
Hello, Lady Suz
Dood needs a primary, and so does that muskrat on his head
As I said over at TBogg’s place earlier today, we need to quit playing nice with these asshats. Either you support the progressive agenda or we primary you. I would rather lose a few seats than have to deal with assholes like this pretending that they are Democrats. I do not think we need to go as far as the Rethugs have, but by doG we need some modicum of party discipline here.
Yes, it’s going to be a busy primary spring 2010
hey there
That’s a colorful curse. Is it your own, or from a specific culture?
hey sir teddy — he is certainly begging for one
The goats would just butt them in the balls (sic) and send them home to their mothers and sisters, who probably did nothing to deserve them.
My own, or rather I stole it from some pop culture source that I’ve otherwise forgotten.
i would hope that any woman married to one of these forkers would cut them off from any and all benefits of marriage
This bill didn’t have much going for it before the Stupid-Pak amendment. Dems have nothing to be proud of. By the time Reid and company finish gutting it to satisfy Lieberman we might as well scuttle the whole thing, not just HCR but the United States. Just disband and go our separate ways.
Of course, they can all afford an abortion if the situation arises…
ooooh, the bottle of cider from the farmers market went hard in the past coupla days, it’s Tangy now!
Stupak’s a C-Streeter, which means he and wife don’t have congress no mo’
Okay, but let’s decide in advance which state we’re all going to be in when the breakup comes.
He has been sleeping over a C Street it seems.
I heard one of the idiot panelists on This Week (don’t remember which, not that it matters) say that the Dems have driven all the moderates from the party. I think the implication was that the party is comprised exclusively of the radical Left. After the retching subsided I finally managed to turn off the TV.
Yes, the celebratory e-mails in my inbox last night and today were rather retch-worthy. But I responded; I think everyone should.
I’m sure the little woman isn’t capable of thinking for herself anyway. She does what she is told.
Who’s up to primary him?
Voted***
More of that Republican projection I’ve been hearing so much about…
Seems I owe you a frosty beverage, sir. What’s your pleasure?
Just so I don’t get stuck someplace down in Jeebusland.
The Village is becoming vastly disconnected from reality. They place the midpoint of American politics at Lieberman, or Scarborough, and so Democrats seem incredibly left-leaning. But America knows better.
People were asking Michael Moore last night on Twitter about primarying him, but I never saw him answer.
sure wish we could primary the village…
Fuck! I would give my left nut for some sign that there was any significant progressive element in our congressional caucus. No moderates left? Hell nobody to the left of Gerald Ford so far as I can see.
Oddly enough, stupak itself and other complications from back-alley abortions will be covered under the health insurance reform. So perhaps that’s the saving grace that let Democrats vote for this amendment. /sarcasm
hey suze
ice machine is still on the fritz.
No bags of veggies for my knee. we only have frozen veggies in boxes. we have bags of french fries though, is that ok?
I’m going to make an early night of it. Peace out, y’all!
does america know better? or were you joking?
turns out Dennis Kucinich was right to vote against H R 3962.
Night, EDP.
As Twain commented in your thread: “That’s not victory – that’s caving in.”
I think I’ve suggested previously that they change their name to The Spelunker Party.
Amen, sister.
g’nite edp
Nighters.
Hey Suz. any chance we can find a primary challenger for TN-05, or am I just spinning my wheels calling out Jim Cooper for the weasel that he is?
give it a twirl bfl — see if it helps
start looking k-town. you are on the ground there — i’m on the left coast :)
I can’t think of an instance when Kucinich has been wrong. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt regarding the UFO.
Well, m’dear, that’s kind of what we’re doing right here, isn’t it?
The central committee in my county is having an emergency executive board mtg on Tuesday to talk about what we’re going to do with Costa. Blue Dog asshole. I think people all over are really upset about what happened last night.
seriously? would Jane support such an action? don’t think it would help if i were to find someone and not have help getting it going.
does it have to be crinkle cut or is shoelace OK?
Folks here in Montana, including several influential county committees, are already looking around for a replacement for Max and he still has 5 years left.
America consistently agrees in public opinion polls with positions The Village attributes to the Left, or the Far Left: single payer, withdrawal from war, repeal of DADT. America is far more progressive in general views than The Village gives us credit for, but their paychecks depend upon pretending to represent Real America while actually not knowing its views at all.
i guess it would depend on the proposed candidate — and that is a question best for jane. i don’t speak for her
I think there are progressive Democrats who’ve indicated an interest in the past, but I don’t have any names at hand. You might check with Howie Klein, or Jane.
Now you are just being silly.
It’s the cold, not the shape of the fry.
How wise is it to write on an open thread where I’d start looking?
And has done so for about 30 years. The country is and has been well to the left of Obama.
I wonder how much Max’s take was?
Grassley Took $150K From Health Insurance Industry In Third Quarter
Don’t think it matters unless your candidate is on the FBI’s terror watch list.
you can always use the format in the send us your tips page
Grassley. Jeez. I had forgotten all about that guy.
If I recall correctly, he was the the largest single recipient of their largess. Along with interested party medical provider groups, big pharma, and the like, they are his largest source of campaign funds.
That should include 90% of the whackjobs on the right.
Think I am going to call it an early night as well. Take care all.
A Michael Moore primary would be the best!
Grassley became irrelevant once the Baucus bill finally got excreted from the committee.
=D
When Jane worked with candidates in the past – or was just looking for one – did she discuss plans or strategies on open threads?
I recall about a month ago her mentioning looking for a candidate in, was it Arkansas? but I don’t recall her writing openly anything more than that.
Nite Dr Dick
g’nite dr dick
G’nite. Think I’ll head out too. Bob and I say, “Bye.”
funny you should mention that. I sent a suggestion for an FDL Action petition to Jane’s email address. wrong move?
g’nite ratfood
nite ratfood
Jane possesses remarkable superpowers but she can’t be in all places simultaneously… yet.
Sorry, I do hope your knee feels better!
And now Joseph Cao has made Empress Olympia irrelevant as well, since the bill is already bi-partisan without her!
Well, that just blows my entire image of her! Dammit, ratfood.
I think that’s as good a way as any.
It’s hard to remember, though, that Jane’s got stuff headed inbound constantly. And she may sort things so that your answer doesn’t get out right away. This has been a pretty compressed timeline, lately, so I don’t expect to hear back from her all the time.
Then it’s probably time to raze the village. Pillaging and burning it would be a nice finishing touch. Not necessarily in that order. (‘First you pillage, then you burn.’)
Whoa, that’s gotta be a dreadful thought for Olympia!
Excellent advice.
i hope hojo (insurance-con) gets the same feeling up close and personal
Especeially with Lieberwurst getting all the attention.
(gah, I wish I hadn’t put that pic of Stupak and his weasel atop this thread; every time I refresh, there it is!)
Doesn’t this whole thing look choreographed?
Pelosi and friends got to beam about a public option and even about getting bipartisan support.
Boehner and friends got to tell their donors and the right wingnut rabble that they gave a serious blow to reproductive rights and maybe even in so doing found a way to make the whole po/exchange thing fall apart.
Everyone won, and no one did.
ya would think he could afford a higher quality weasel with all those
bribescampaign contributions teddyThe powers-that-be will never give Liberalism a clean win; it must be tainted with a bitter loss in order to show America that liberals can’t really win.
i dunno wtf goes in in dc — it sure as hell don’t make any rational sense.
Needs a dedicated website a la spreadingsantorum.com
Doesn’t really matter anymore what “Americans” think, want or vote for. The corporations are our rulers now, and what they want is what we get. Any crumbs or bones tossed our way is what we should be grateful for.
Abortion discussions are b.s. The right has been in power for most of the past 2 decades, and note that Roe v. Wade is still mostly in effect. Yeah, righties have made incremental incursions on it, but Republicans in the Village don’t want it gone for good bc it is a way to manipulate their incresingly rabid & dull-witted base.
Most of America agrees with the right to abortion – at the very least in cases of rape, incest and the health of the mother. Yet some slimebag like this C Street $hit pictured above gleefully chortles all the way to his off-shore account funded by Big Insurance. Does he give a flying eff about you, me or anyone other than his wallet?? Heck no! And if his mistress or wife or daughter or mother or sister or aunt or cousin want an abortion, why, hey, no problem! Even if it means flying them out of the country, Stupie-boy can buy it for ‘em. Whatevs.
Do you seriously think C Street BOYS have any problems with any girls getting an abortion? That they have some MORAL conviction against it? That they’re concerned that Jesus wouldn’t like it? That they think god might smite them, if the women-folk get one?? That their religionous “leaders” tell them not to do it?
Get real! These men aren’t worried about trifling details like that. All they care about is the almighty doller. God can be damned. Money talks.
I’m all for primarying these fracks, but at the end of the day, I’m growing less trusting that it’s going to make a damn bit of difference. Kick one out of office, and the next one lines up with his fingers crossed behind his back as he makes a beeline to C Street to grab a bunk.
Yeah, yeah, I’ll continue to fight the good fight and all, but color me not surprised and color me growing ever more disenchanted, disgusted and disheartened. Sucks. Royally. Big Time.
Hiya Teddy! Hi Firepups!
hey cassie
Wow — 1,917 upvotes for definition number two!
Somehow that isn’t terribly comforting…/;)
Hey, Cassie, great post on the mourning at Ft Hood over at your place.
what teddy said
How are you?
I got 9 friends to donate blood in Central TX for the wounded in Fort Hood.
Thanks!
most excellent cassie.
Nice post, thanks Teddy. I voted!
Progressives who invested in this healthcare debate should take a step back and take a look at the overall shape of the likely healthcare bill. If they did, I would hope that they would pull their support and reject this turkey. How many travesties of a travesty does this bill have to go through before we say, enough.
Separating Stupak from Congress generally sounds pretty damn good to me.
Anathema; unclean; outcast.
Wow, good for you.
I really liked how you pointed out that not everyone may be able to share in the public mourning. Everyone’s lives are complicated, and sometimes the institution we are a part of won’t let us share, or display, our grief.
Personally I favor the construction “pale hollow shadow of a mockery of a travesty of a sham”.
I was here when TexBetsy’s ex-husband’s brother died. And he was her brother in law for 15 yrs but she couldn’t be one of the mourners and she wasn’t allowed to go to the funeral and back to their house because the new wife hates her so much.
And she cried, and her synagogue was all busy comforting him.
More seriously, Jane was asking for PO Project volunteers last night. I look forward to hearing more.
How does Stupak see out of those tiny little eyes? Strange looking.
good night.
So, is there anybody that will primary this SOS (sack of shit)?
OT Is anyone here in the path of hurricane Ida? It has wind speeds up to 107 now and looks dangerous.
hey twain — how ya doing? the weather dood said that it was headed towards louisiana. november hurricaines are so unpredictable.
late late nite upstairs
Hey, Suz. Looks like it’s headed straight for Pensacola. I’m fine, thanks for asking. How’s by you?
We used to have people in the hurricanes’ paths, but I think it’s just BfL and his knee nowadays.
