Roberts is a complete idiot. In saying no party’s future lies in rhetoric programmed enemies of the state, she shows her ignorance of history. I can think of one party that had a 12-year run using cringing rhetoric like this. There, too, it played to a mass that, like Luntz’s mega-focus group, saw a declining future that had an alien virus to blame and that contradicted an unshakeable beliefs in their nation’s exceptionalism.

When will we have someone on one of these shows to talk about what fascism is? When will they begin to fit Luntz and his ilk under this category?

How about never? Is never soon enough?

one of my friends, who ‘crossed over’ to the dark side of tea baggin and fearmongering last spring, explained it in almost the exact words…”i am sooo afraid, afraid for my kids, afraid for my country. afraid i am losing my country”
I almost bought his ‘fear’ as genuine,
til he started sending me articles,(because he ‘cared’). absurd, dark articles about liberal thinking as fascism, Obama’s socialism, etc. etc.
I hear the same language popping out from the mouths of every teabagging pundit and politician. now from this Republican strategist. That’s it. they are using ‘fear for our childrens’ future” as the justification for the most outlandish demonization of rational thought imaginable.
I say grab a mop and start doing something positive. pick yourself up,
wash off some of the Fox dung and get to work. you’ll feel less fearful, you feel better about yourself , your kids and the future. really, you will.

Cokie Roberts is a dunderheaded idiot. Recall that during the general election, she commented that Obama was going to “exotic” Hawaii on his vacay to visit his dying grandma. Almost anything coming out of her mouth is stupid anymore, if not downright venal or teabagger b.s.

The whole teabagger meme that the country is suddenly NOW going down the toilet and ohmigawdwhataboutthegrandkids has been very clearly and carefully taught to these idiots. I know bc my teabagging family members have attended rallies with signs saying just that. I then knew that their corporate overlords had instructed them to say that. It’s not like they thought of it on their own (I say that seriously and honestly).

Well, it makes a kind of sense given the state of our courntry’s economy and all, and I think all of us had concerns about TARP and the stimulus.

but as bloggers of the left have been stating endlessly, where oh where were these stooges when W & the puppetmaster Cheney were spending like drunken sailors? and lied us into at least one war that has cost us billions upon billions (not to mention lives), but of course Cheney and W got rich from all of that. When the left protested then we were resoundingly told to STFU and “support the troops” ad nauseum.

Suddenly on 11/4/08, all that changed, and now it’s all the Democratic party’s fault that we’re in trouble. So tired of this nonsense.

And so fracking sick and tired of hearing people, like Luntz, poop out crap about how very, very “frightened” these idiotic teabaggers are, and how we must all exhibit all this vast great care and concern about their iddle widdle fweelings. Spare me. What about my feelings over the past 8 years – and more years before that under Reagan & HW?? My feelings meant doodly to these jerkwads. So why should I be concerned about their feelings? Strictly rhetorical questions, of course.

I don’t remember seeing the teabaggers protesting the actual destruction/bankruptcy of our country while Bush was using the Constitution as toilet paper when it was actually happening.

If I remember correctly they were cheering and labeling anyone a traitor if they didn’t cheer the actual destruction/bankruptcy and using of the Constitution as toilet paper.

agreed–Roberts often presents unsupported assertions as fact–even when her claims turn out to be incorrect. she’s not along in this, of course, but is a prime example
