The Dark Side Of Alice – Alice In Wonderland set to Pink Floyd‘s Dark Side Of The Moon.
What’s on your mind?
Good Evening…
crossing hands in my lap, awaiting our Suzanne
g’evening miss elliott — how ya doing tonight
Hey Suz!
Suzanne! Waiting for Alice to load……
hey newton — how’s the bay area tonight?
our high wind warning has expired. tillamook head (to the north of me) had a gust of 80 but we only got a 58 here. the majority of that storm has moved to the east but there is still rain in the forecast for the next 7 days.
hey sunny — how’s your neck of the woods tonight?
Good evening, Suzanne. How are you and how has the day been?
hey pastfed — twas a wild and wooly day — i loved it :) how was yours?
we be chilling, homie.
Oh, wrong board..
Fine, Suz!
It got to the low 70′s here, above normal, but a little windy. A cold front expected by Sunday.
Is it wrong to slap your 92 year old father upside the head, figuratively of course, for being gleeful that Maine voted against equality in marriage and ticked off that Maine voted for medical marijuana? I mean, jeez, how long does one have to be a good girl?
working on a project, but stymied so — considering the path to bed.
And you?
oh dear dearie
newt!
how nice — where’s your here?
You’ve lasted this long, what’s another ten or fifteen years?
hola miss elliott
kicking back — waiting for my back and leg to let me know that i really shudda waited to rearrange the furniture.
I was ‘polite’ about it…..and pointed out that California may have a referendum next year to outlaw divorce — just to, you know, protect marriage from the riffraff. I wondered about the Newt/Ronald Ragun/JohnMcCain/et al. — in that, hey, “marry much???”
I’m afraid you are in this one for the duration.
hehehehehehe nicely done dearie
how’s the southern part of the central ca coast tonight?
You might suggest that at his age, he ought to be OK with marijuana, if it helps others to live longer, to prolong their lives and maybe live as long as he has. He doesn’t think it’s clean living that got him there, does he? IMO its mostly genetics, and luck.
It’s beautiful on the central coast…..I drive to Santa Barbara a couple of times a week to visit my little baby grandsons, and the drive is just divine…..different every single time. Some of the best surfing lately and some of the most interesting fog and some of the loveliest views of the Channel Islands.
Good evening! I am in a strange situation of my own making. I got this wild hair about booking the Yes Men in our local colleges in response to Glenn Beck getting the keys to our county seat. I’ve researched it and there is Hall space available at Western Washington University and Skagit Valley College[ home of the key ceremony]. The historic Lincoln Theatre, target of the Beck fundraising, has openings and would love to use this as a fundraiser.
But…I need $4,000 down and the rest at time of show, and I don’t want to charge the students more then a few bucks.
Am I chasing unicorns?
LOL!
But if the job be done, they must be on the happy side
Salt Lake City. This is unusual weather for November, we’ve been fortunate and had a real Indian Summer for once, like the ones I remember from childhood in Ohio.
Fo’ Schizzle, my Whizzle!
Dam!
Hi Suz!
:-(
when I first read tha,t I thought you asked
“Am I chasing Acorns”
hey emerson — how’s the east bay dood? fo’ schizzle indeed
I am just too white to pull it off.
h/t Marshall Mathers…
Hard core Republicans are cantankerous. I think it was Molly Ivins who said of one of the Bushes, “He was born on third base and thought he’d hit a triple” — or words to that effect. These types believe that they ‘earned’ every friggin’ thing they have…..they forget whatever help they got along the way, and they really don’t care about who lands in the gutter through no fault of their own.
my youngest was in st george until earlier this year. she really enjoyed it but said the only seasons were snow, blazing hot, and construction :)
Google GOES Disk.
There’s a mess outside of HA and CTuttle that looks pretty ominous!
WE need the rain, in CA.
Not sure what you need or want . . . send it to CA!
*G*
Dearie, have you ever gone to Santa Barbara on the first Sunday of the month (every month)? The local Vets for Peace group sets up “Arlington West” on the beach about 7 in the morning, and take it down about 4 or 5 in the afternoon. Takes a good hour or two to set up more than 3000 crosses on the beach, but they have a very organized way of doing it.
Hi folks:
What’s on my mind? The disgusting speculation after this shooting today. I’ve said in the past that we on the left need to prepare for the rampant speculation and politicizing for ever shooting because the right certainly does. They instantly politicize it as they tell everyone that we will be politicizing it. Usually it is they anticipate some kind of gun control arguments coming from us. (I wonder what they will use this time. “The base was actually a gun free zone! More people should be able to wear guns!”
What I see this time is that they are pushing the “It’s a Muslim terrorist!” bit. Even if it turns out that it is all about PTSD or some personal story we don’t now about yet.
The Right wing media is saying that the shooter is
1) A Muslim who didn’t like the war
2) Probably did it because of his faith.
Here is my question. Is there any consequences for outrageous speculation? Should there be? Today Brian Sussman was mocking the journalism convention of “alleged shooter”. It makes sense if they aren’t journalists, why should they have to say alleged? They are just gossips and they can call out the person’s name and say, “This guy is the shooter and we should put a bullet in his head” as one woman did.
But if they are not journalists should they be given the same level of defense from defamation that journalist get? I say no.
And they know they can get away with it because the person called out will probably not go after them for being misidentified like Richard Jewel was during the Olympic bombings. But they are also calling out Muslims and Sussman was mocking them as “The Religion of Peace”
Sussman made it clear that although he doesn’t know what the guy was saying while he was shooting it wouldn’t surprise him if it was Allahu Akbar. Then he taunts CAIR for defending Muslims and reminds people that CAIR gets funding from terrorists.
The right is just itching to find an enemy in this shooting. If the enemy was PTSD? Well whose fault is that? Bush? Oh no. A caller on the show called up and said, “The shooter was a democrat and an Obama supporter who was disappointed in Obama.” So as you can see, it was really Obama who caused this.
Then the caller went on to say that it is the liberals who are the violent ones, not the tea partiers.
When an event happens their rush to imprint their narrative on it is fast and ruthless it would be nice to prepare for their crazy speculation.
I’m trying to prepare the community for when some tea bagger takes a shot at a politician. I want Fox and the organizers to be financially liable because that is the only way they will get that they should not be inciting their base.
It’s a family affair, and being a girl has nothing to do with it . . . I’d hope your prog brothers feel the same way.
*G*
hey larue — i’m enjoying what i got but it don’t look like it is headed your way
hey openhope — almost didn’t see you come in
I have……and have been enormously moved every time I see it.
Hey, Suzanne!
Hey, Pups!
What’s Shakin’?
FunnyWheelieDiva
hey spocko — always nice to see you
You are a MISS Elliott?
All this time . . . well, nice to meetcha in a definitive gender form.
My bad!
Have always like your posts!!!
*G*
You don’t need anyone to tell you that asshole Sussman would get right on it.
While I applaud your vigilance, you give them far too much credit by hoping or praying otherwise.
hey funny d — how’s seattle tonight?
LOL about the construction. It seems to last from spring to late fall. I drive down there once in awhile, and there’s almost always construction zones on the interstate, where it’s cut down to one lane. Usually you end up following a slow semi, cause there’s lots of uphill and downhill.
Wow, that’s a tough one. My mother said that she was worried about “that Obama” before he was elected because some “crazy person” might take a shot at him because of his race. I pointed out that some “crazy people” took shots at Reagan, Ford, and Kennedy.
She was using a concern for his safety to mask her real problems with him, I pointed out that all Presidents have that problem.
yup. she was real happy when she moved to oregon where there is actual ‘green’. of course she is currently either still in kansas or now in colorado where she is gonna hunker down for the winter.
Thanks!
Suz, love the “drink me” bottle, always have.
So much I opened one. But it says Guinness ;-)
does it make you smaller? *laughing*
I have a neo-con twin brother. The women in my family are liberals; men are radical conservatives. Fortunately my daughters married good men, and I’ve had wonderfully well balanced men friends over my lifetime.
go ask alice
Hey Larue, how are ya?
Wet and chilly. Good thing I got a little of the sun on Tuesday…not going to see it much more than you will this coming week.
The chilly makes Teh Kitteh extra snuggly, though.
How’s Token and Bailey? How’s yer toofers?
FWDiva
Any that comes my way, I shall redirect to you.
bailey is hiding under my bed still — she doesn’t like the weather. token has finally quit being a quivering puddle of manly wussiness — he most definately does not like the wind and rain against the windows. once it died down he stopped and started acting his usual big dog self. he is currently munching on a lamb shank bone from dinner.
Have you ever produced a show before?
Do you know what the contractual obligations are?
It’s all as confusing and detailed as construction biz and THEIR contract negotiations.
A person that KNOWS contract operations in construction is worth their weight in gold.
A person that knows how and why and what in promotions and event production and marketing is worth THEIR weight in gold.
If you don’t have the experience, or someone to GUIDE you thru it all, that has 30 years or MORE of that kind of experience, get the phook out of it now.
The days of students, or non students making experience and careers and money out of using university, college, or public facilities are long gone.
It’s a cut throat business, top to bottom. You could lose your ass.
If you DO proceed, read each line, and if you don’t understand ONE line, get out.
Course, at contract signing, you have already committed yourself to paying SOMETHING, to get out of it.
I’m tellin ya, you can lose yer shirt if ya don’t have any experience in these matters.
Just tryin to help.
That’s why I sent you this:
http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Fo%27%20Shizzle%2C%20My%20Whizzle
You homie, ewe.
Yer schnizzle don’t stink.
*G*
Man, Gracie looks like a kid! Wow! Maybe 21, does anyone know?
That’s Ohio’s weather for you. Snow, humid summer, and orange barrel (construction) season.
A Hah! There’s an excuse to believe in.
Yeah! Lovin on the Snoop/Morrison remix! No, you dint!
doesn’t say when that was filmed but iirc white rabbit came out in 67???
Spocko, you reach too far . . . in a manner of speaking.
Can you do something within your circle of life?
Sure, be aware, advise others, and do the best you can.
What would you wish to achieve at a grander level?
What would be your goals?
Do you have a plan?
oh yes i did
love that backbeat and how it went so seamlessly with riders.
Has it turned? It sure looked fierce earlier today! *G*
got that 58 gust this afternoon. now there is thunder and lightning bands off the coast — token ain’t gonna like that at all.
The black people in my neighborhood expressed that concern…I took it as kind of a “He would be a good president, but here’s what could happen” kind of thing. Like they wanted to hope but were afraid to at the same time.
Yes, I think it did come out in ’67.
Wow, bless you and I feel sorry for you.
I really detest my fellow males when they stray from reality.
It makes the rest of us look bad.
;-)
But I feel the same way about Bachman, Snowe, and a few others, too . . *G*
Doin fine . . . as fine can be.
Wish I had a fest, and a ton of local pickin pals, but I’m woikin on that . . *G*
*BOWSANDTHANKS*
*G*
Ma’am!!! lol
I thought overall, in spite an insinuation or two, the Fox News I watched this afternoon tried not to speculate irresponsibly. At one point Shep had on the shooter’s cousin (purported cousin) who described the shooter’s frustration with the continuing harassment from the blame ALL Muslims for all our ills crowd he lived with. Mind you, no excuses for the shooter; killing isn’t the answer, that is what we struggle against – nonsensical slaughter.
Sad so many are so quick to jump on the all-Muslims-are-terrorists bandwagon. Is there any way to open those closed eyes and hearts?
I’m glad the shooter survived, maybe we can learn how this tragedy came to be. And from there prevent future massacres.
Death is so final, isn’t it?
rain and snow do tend to put a damper on the fest festivities
Just what else you got in the racks waiting to feature on your blog?
You? Have LAMB BONE SHANKS, left over dinner?
My god, I hope you didn’t butcher that poor delectible and ruin it.
Care to share a recipe? Hmmm?
ROTFLMAO!
Elliot, I read your response at 10:24 and now at 10:42 I can submit.
Yeah, it’s kind of like chasing ACORN, only different. *g*

My heroes. Along with Alan Grayson.
I’m so torn!!! I hate when everything is available except the cash!! I can’t come up with a way to raise $12,000 by April. It’s too big for me in that amount of time.
Damn.
guess you will just have to stop by often and find out emerson
aww shucks, *kickin’ the dust* thanks, LaRue

and that the lessons learned were learned so that future events do not happen.
so even Faux handled that better than CNN? Had a JAG jag saying this could be a terrorist attack on old man King’s show. Disgusting.
the only coverage of it i saw was ko and trms tonight. i thought rachel provided a very fact based coverage
Yer better n you let on, gal. *G*
Only missing lemon and oregano . . .
*G*
A splash of ouzo, some fennel . . /whistling
LOL
Larue:
Yes I have a plan and have been executing on it since 2006. So most recently I forced KSFO and Brian Sussman to move their faux town hall from the front of Pelosi’s office to Justin Herman Plaza and then messed up all their media coverage. I wrote about it here;
How to Kick Tea Bagging Sponsors in the Wallet And Mess up their Media Coverage
Then I made it clear to KSFO’s (Sussman’s) parent corporation that they need to prepare for violence at his Tea Party and Faux Town Hall events. I wrote about it here: Will Citadel be Financial Liable for Town Hall Mobs Organized by Their Radio Hosts?
That resulting in Sussman getting some warning letters from his parent company and being VERY careful with how he talked about dealing with Obama when he was in town. All the violent language was kept in check, if it wasn’t I was prepared to go to the Secret Service and ask them to have a chat with him.
Yesterday I wrote about the financial consequences to News Corp if a Fox sponsored Tea Party attendee kills someone. I wrote about it here:
What’s News Corp’s ROI When Someone is Shot at a Tea Party?
I contacted 20 financial analysts and newspapers to raise the question. If I had wanted to I could have probably asked ol’ Rupert the questions myself, but I was hoping someone would ask for me. Maybe next quarter.
The link I made with the financial analysts was the Entercom lawsuit for wrongful death that cost the station $16.6 million dollars. I also questioned the standard wisdom that losing 81 advertisers on the Glenn Beck show was no big deal and if he was being subsidized by Murdock for ideological reasons then the stock holders shouldn’t have to foot that bill. I was appealing to the greed and the short term financial interests of the shareholders. The shareholders wealth is all that corporations are supposed to care about, and if Murdock is costing them money he needs to at least say, ‘I’m going to lose money on Beck for 3 more quarters because I’m paying for it.” He should also have to prove that the ratings of Beck has translated to overall greater revenue for the station since he is now not generating direct revenue for the company anymore.
Well then, I guess I will. I had no idea I even liked that genre.
Mmmmmm.
I might have to come visit you again soon!
That’s one good thing about cooler weather–oven meals!
FWDiva
didn’t have any oregano and forgot the lemon in the fridge.
i used to be domesticated — i don’t act it much but i still remember a lot of the hows….
I need to check them out. That was the first time I’ve turned on CNN in months, literally. Still have that bad taste in my mouth.
Margot! Yes, compulsion and compassion to understand.
my girls got me used to it. first one was a teen in the 90′s and the second in the 00′s.
lotsa bass in their music and i got used to that dr dre backbeat bass line.
trms is like a breath of fact based reporting fresh air. plus she’s a geek and is pretty snarky.
You KNOW you won me over with that lots garlic thang . . . . you keep notes about us all?
*smiles*
open invite as always funny.
token wags his tail your direction
She’s da bomb, she is!
Plus, she’s on MSNBC, not CNN.
FWDiva
hehehehehe i figured it was the non recipe recipe with some of this and some that style *wink*

OOOOH big lightning flash and 3 mississippi’s away thunder
OH. Yer THAT Spocko!

That’s nice work, hoss.
You go.
Well, I better get back to it and finish up …
Nighters!

Good cheffing is SO not about domestication.
It’s about making good shit to eat!!!
Yer doin fine!
*G*
I’m just jealous I’m not eating leg of lamb, or ANY lamb!!!
*G*
We just bought 1/4 of a steer. It won’t be ready until next Oct. The local ranchers are into developing these programs where they raise a steer for individual people. They’re trying to make a go of it with people committing to the animal. It’ll be raised on grass until it’s time to start gaining fat then the diet gets tuned to fat marbling.
In buying into the beef we found out that this is available in pork and lamb, too. It’s a very cool way to eat meat. No feedlots or forced corn diets. Local. We’ll pay $500 for 300 lbs of farm raised beef.
He hee, really? Guess I’ll start seriously considering starting to think about perhaps making a plan!
We could get up to all kindsa mischief, there around the woodstove.
And maybe the Tillamook factory would have more lines working…and I hear the artisan cheese place is pretty fine, too…
When are you gettin’ your new teef, again?
fWDiva
evening, Suz
g’nite ellie
the fundy and i did that one year — we got 1/2 a steer raised by a fellow cop. was wonderful meat. we also did it wtih a lamb and the same cop that year. saved lotsa money in the long run.
You know who is really amazing?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sO4OKe8ufaE
I don’t think so…
someone mentioned that they weren’t watching CNN, but they might try Rachel’s show. I just wanted to set the record straight that the incomparable Dr Maddow does NOT appear on the same Cable network as Lou Dobbs.
FWDiva
nite ma’am
hey ppd — how’s the south south bay?
wheeee more lightning and thunder.
wow — that is sweet emerson.
*whew*
Well done, spocko. You’re turning Network (1976) on its head.
Thanks. By the way I wanted to second your Open Hope at 59, you sound like someone who as been burned and don’t want to see someone else burned that was very nice of you to share your experience.
I will say to OpenHope this. Often times there are other groups whose goals line up with yours and you can bring energy and ideas to them. Part of the trick is finding the right group. I found the EFF and we helped each other. The defended me against ABC/Disney and I promoted the issue of Fair Use.
Recently I’ve been trying to find a group that wants to challenge the right wing radio host Sean Hannity and his views on torture. I’m looking to someone in the religious community. I’ve been unsuccessful and I’ve talked to several people and groups. I’m too aggressive for them, I would raise their visibility too much. It’s like what Jane says about Veal Pen groups. They are expected not to rock the boat, especially if it might upset the donors.
I catch her replays on I tunes the next day. Don’t get MSNBC on my directv for some reason. Same with KO.
jon stewart is just ripping glenn beck with his impression of that cookoo bird
Sounds awesome. Get the farmer and the customers together directly, and everybody gets a fair deal.
300# is a lotttta meat, though.
I’d have to organize a sub-syndicate among my city-dwelling friends.
Then I’d also have to get better at cooking it…
Where are ya up north, Openhope? I’m on the Sno-King county line, near I-5, and a girlfriend of mine just moved onto 4 acres west of Marysville (near Tulalip, but not tribal).
FWDiva
write them and protest.
Cooled off and the low clouds rolled in today — though no rain yet.
Otherwise, everything is good here.
hey emerson
That sounds like a great way to go. Especially the part about not getting a lot of corn. I read that corn isn’t that great for them. Grass is the way to go.
Last night for dinner I did a fall dinner thing. Celery Root and Russet potatoes mashed. Caramelized onions with apples slices, Black beans and bacon bits in a balsamic vinaigrette on a bed of arugula.
It’s probably cuz I haven’t changed my package in 10 years. But, I’m actually switching to Dish soon anyway.
Fork Rupert Murdoch…
PPD-good to see ya.
Nod beckons. Thanks suzanne.
‘nite pups. Catch ya on the flip.
g’nite sunny
g’nite Sunny.
oh that sounds wonderful. *sigh*
Time for bed. Goodnite, Suz, goodnite, all.
g’nite pastfed
Yes. For the past 20 years. We’ve sold alchohol in public parks, raffled off up front parking spots during our annual Ferry haulout. Those are gold. We built a small but gorgeous community park with ball field, soccer field, picnic shelter, playground, tennis court. One fundraiser at a time. I booked our local War Memorial Park and hosted a anti-war rally with food, music, speakers and march the last time I got a wild hair.
But nothing you can’t pull off with a $1,000 up front and a great public cause.
You’re absolutely right in the logistics. They become a full time job. And I’ve got the time.
I feel almost a sense of duty on this particular Yes Men event. For our youngbloods. Logic says let it go.
You know if you are ever in SF I’ll cook for you. My specialty is really desserts. This month I’ll be making my favorite fall dish Cranberry Apple Almond crisp. I serve it warm with vanilla ice cream.
Anyone notice a huge increase in their spam email over the past few weeks?
A couple weeks ago, my friend made me mashed yams and put canned chipotle peppers in ‘em. Mmmm, mmmm good! Love the hot kick with the sweet…
FWDiva
i’ll be sure to let ya know next time i head down. desserts are my favorite meal. jen made me an apple pear crisp for my birthday — she got the recipe from an ina garten barefoot contessa cookbook — it was yummy.
yes
Ohh that’s a great idea! On Monday I microwaved acorn squash then took the cooked pulp in a pot with a bit of butter and some brown sugar. I topped it with pecans toasted in butter.
My Norton spam filter catches most of them, up to 100 per day now.
No, why?
even with my norton i’m still getting more than usual at my gmail spam filters
I’m in Skagit. I’m thinking with 300 lbs of clean beef you can probably sell some at cost. It’s a lot of meat.
You don’t need to live here to buy into a steer.I’m not sure how I’ll do driving by the animal regularly. Probably don’t want to give it treats.
Sounds like we have big waves coming this weekend — time for a coastal photo shoot
or a name
maybe cuz I have an Apple?
Oh. I think I have that barefoot contessa cookbook! I’ll look it up.
Last week I made and apple pie from scratch using fresh picked apples from Sebastopol. The crust is made with big flakes of butter. I keep the dough cold and then bake it on a hot pizza stone. The crush was super flaky.
the recipe called for some cranberries iirc but jen didn’t include them — she didn’t want it too tart since it was a birthday crisp
Spocko,
I don’t know if this would be helpful to you or not. It’s a group http://www.faithinpubliclife.org/
and I don’t know much about them. I thought I’d throw it out there just in case. I get their e-newsletter, thought it looked interesting; isn’t really.
Just wanted to know if I should take the increased spam avalanche personally.
same here, yes.
Oh, hey! The thunder-bumpers have arrived here. Aaaaaand the torrential rain.
The cat came back in just in time. I swear, he just wanted to sit out on the porch and watch the rain. He can be pretty funny that way.
I love the Skagit valley. Beautiful farm country. How is farmland-preservation going there, do you know?
FWDiva
when i drove up the the pacific northwest 5 years ago i drove to the skagit valley. all the daffodils were blooming but not the tulips (was march iirc). i love that area — so pretty and the mountains and the waters on either side.
Next time you come up, we’ll drive up north and take the Chukkanut Drive scenic drive back south. It’s gorgeous. Big-Sur like sea views and then, BAM, you come out into the Skagit Valley, wide and flat.
Mid-to-late April is good for Tulips. Weekdays are best for crowd-avoidance.
This really is a beautiful place to live.
FWDiva

I’ve had an itch, “a worry”, for some time now. There was a concern about the Pittsburgh economics meeting, but now what I ‘sniff’ is problems coming into America via Miami via air or sea ports. Where is it coming from? Sen. Schumer may have a clue.
It may be something explosive, but it could also be a completely legitimate person intent on bad things. It might even be someone (or a group) who has already been here a while or traveling to and from U.S. for some time (a business traveler for example). Attempts to get block problems via Europe would seem to have failed.
Change is difficult for everyone. Rapid change is bound to encounter a reaction. But, when change is required it’s required. Those who oppose it must be convinced of that and we must all work together to manage it.
Bon jour.
