How can we trust the military when they are still lying to millions of us.

What did they have to gain by lying? Certainly not trust.

Would they have gotten away with saying this was a terror atck and we need a 3rd Patroit attack if SWAT and FBI wasn't there? This is crazy gop run territory. I keep thinking abt Susan Lindauer (Andrew Cards cousin) that was imprisoned and drugged on Carswell Airforce Base in Tx.

How can we or PBO trust these people?

This soldier spoke anonymously and says the place has been grim because they don't know why they are being deployed or what the goal of being there is.

The soldier says that the mood on the base is “very grim,” and that even before this incident, troop morale has been very low.

“I’d say it’s at an all-time low - mostly because of Afghanistan now,” he explained. “Nobody knows why we are at either place, and I believe the troops need to know why they are there, or we should pull out, and this is a unanimous feeling, even for folks who are pro-war.”

Lt. Gen. Robert Cone said Maj. Hasan, who was shot four times, is alive and in stable condition

Denver Post in August 2008, more than “43,000 service members -- two-thirds of them in the Army or Army Reserve -- were classified as nondeployable for medical reasons three months before they deployed” to Iraq.

anonymous survey of US troops taken last fall, about 12 percent of combat troops in Iraq and 17 percent of those in Afghanistan are taking prescription antidepressants or sleeping pills to help them cope.”

Victor Agosto, an Iraq war veteran who was discharged from the military after publicly refusing to deploy to Afghanistan, has had firsthand experience with the SRFC at Fort Hood, where he too was based.

“I knew there would be a confrontation when I was there, because the only reason to do that process is to deploy,” Agosto explained, speaking to Truthout near Fort Hood . “So the shooter clearly intended to stop people from deploying.”

Hasan is the son of Palestinian immigrants and former Vinton residents Malik Awadallah Hassan and Hanan Ismail "Nora" Hasan, according to the Roanoke Times. Nora Hasan ran the now-defunct Capitol Restaurant on the Roanoke Market. Hasan's father owned the Mount Olive Grill and Bar and the Community Grocery Store on Elm Avenue. Both parents are deceased.

Becoming a psychiatrist requires 8 years beyond college... 4 years of med school and 4 years of residency. Nobody would go through all that without having a choice of specialty for the residency cycle. It sets the course for one's professional life, and someone interested in psychiatry would not risk being told he was going to become a urologist or dermatologist instead.

sunshine, the founder of HealthNet seems to be named Malik M. Hasan, whereas the shooter is named Nidal Malik Hasan. Different name, different job, different person. Good question about whether it's the same family, but evidently it's a pretty common name.

I don't know if this is the same doctor.

Over the past fourteen years, the Hasans have become some of the United States' most prolific Republican donors, personally giving more than $725,000 to Republican candidates and causes, according to OpenSecrets.org, which tracks political donations. The family also vigorously raised money for President Bush, a man they say has done more Muslim outreach than any recent leader. In 2004, Malik attained Pioneer status, a label reserved for those who have raised at least $100,000. Today the family is still close with the president, and Ali considers him an "uncle" figure. Their mansion is spotted with photos of Seeme and Bush outside of his Crawford, Texas, ranch.

In 1985, shortly after the advent of managed care in the United States, Malik started his own Pueblo-based HMO called QualMed. He urged his friends and colleagues to invest in the venture, and those who did eventually made millions. The operation, in downtown Pueblo, grew as it acquired ailing HMOs around the country, and so did Malik's wealth. In 1991, QualMed went public, and Malik's investments soared to a market value of $67 million, according to Health Against Wealth, George Anders's book on managed care. A few years later, QualMed merged with a California company to create Health Systems International, Inc. Yet another merger earned Malik a spot on Forbes magazine's 1998 list of top paid executives; he had gleaned $28.6 million over a five-year period. (Ali won't disclose how much he or his family is now worth, saying he doesn't want to jeopardize their safety.) But in 1999, Malik and other executives sold QualMed, laying off employees in Pueblo and closing the downtown building,
http://www.westword.com/2008-01-17/news/is-this-muslim-republican-mr-right-or-the-big-cheese/2

Is this the same family?

Seeme feels the Pakistani government is “un-helpable.” The embassy “does not seek out outstanding Pakistanis, those who have made contributions in this country. It never projects outstanding Pakistanis.” The situation seems paradoxical. The Hasans have good relations with the President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. According to Dr Hasan, President Bush wants to do something for Pakistan “from the bottom of his heart.” Dr. Hassan makes a candid observation as he remarks, “If you look around, the Americans are much more consistent with Islamic values than us. I built a $10 billion company without any serious impediment. There was not one instance when any functionary asked me for a kickback. My success was on the basis of merit.” His Health Net offers “a better value in terms of better quality and price.”

Dr Hasan’s advice for Pakistanis who are up and coming is: “To mix with the mainstream, be a part of the political process rather than a bystander, show people how good you are, find a way of interacting with the decision makers, and take interest in the upbringing of the children.” He continues, “We should export meritocracy to Pakistan instead of biradari,” adding, “America is a wonderful country. Its success is not by an accident but by a governing system. There is nothing in DNA that makes someone corrupt or successful.” True. To him Islam was the most progressive among the three Abrahamic faiths and took him through his dark days as a child displaced from his ancestral homes in India to Pakistan. True again.
