Tula I went to http://www.regulations.gov/search/Regs/home.html#home
to provide a comment in favor and couldn't find it listed for comment; did a search using NMB and came up with this link:
http://www.regulations.gov/search/Regs/home.html#searchResults?Ne=11+8+8053+8098+8074+8066+8084+1&Ntt=nmb&Ntk=All&Ntx=mode+matchall&N=0

Hope others will join me in commenting favorably on the NMB vote and the need to rescind such a ridiculous condition.

<blockquote>...gave Obama a majority not seen since FDR...</blockquote>

Actually, Carter had a larger majority in both houses.

After US Airways froze pensions for non-union employees in 1992 (while giving contractual raises to union employees), we started an organization drive. It took three years to get a vote - US Airways illegally interfered with the process and got a slap on the wrist. By 1995 the NMB certified the IAM as representing fleet service agents. It took 4 years of the company negotiating in bad faith until an initial contract was ratified in 1999.

Seven years from organizing to contract!

And Tula is quite correct in the asinine voting rules. They beg for company intimidation. A no show vote equals a no vote, and the company will hang around the voting place (in a lot of places the voting location is the company break-room!). They don't have to say a word - they know you are there to vote yes, and they will make you pay for it.

Given that we voters did our job and gave Obama a majority not seen since FDR, if we can't get health reform, financial reform and EFCA, who needs him?

So much for the Rs view of the importance of union members actually being allowed to vote. (EFCA)
