Surely should elections in those two states go to Republicans it means Glenn Beck can fire up his awesome time-travel enabled magic underwear to transport himself back to November 2008 and invalidate the last Presidential election.
For bending reality is the specialty of FoxNews, even candidates endorsing a Democrat get manufactured into endorsements of the extra-right-wing right-winger. Whatever happens, I’m sure it will be construed as good news for Republicans in 2010.
After all, just look at the 2007 elections which saw the Republicans take back the Louisiana Governor’s mansion, right Chris Cillizza?
Louisiana: Is Jindal’s Win a Sign of GOP Turnaround Nationally?
Rep. Bobby Jindal’s outright victory in yesterday’s Louisiana gubernatorial primary was the first piece of good electoral news for the Republican Party in months, prompting talk that the GOP is rebounding from the 2006 debacle.
And it all ended up working out so well for President McCain, Speaker Boehner and Majority Leader McConnell in 2008.

OOOOH, OOOOH, I know I know pick me Attaturk. It’s good for
McCainRepublicans, because ya know everything is good forMcCainRepublicans. Well….except for that whole asswhipping thing last November, and ya know, ‘06.And if republicans manage to hold a house seat they have held for 140 years then it signals the most awesomest resurgance of political fight and might since… since, well… since The Alamo. Yeah that’s it. The Alamo.
Yeah, I’ll be covering an election station in a suburb of PA. All of our local judges are Republicans, so we’re trying to get at least a few Democrats in there. Someone in the city asked what the issues were where she lived, I was like “Hmm, not sure.” Big challenge today will be staying awake and alert all day.
Banner on MSNBC, right now, proclaiming this “Super Tuesday”. Wow, just wow. 4:00 am central time and the stupid burns really bad.
Will look for your updates, rich. Thanks and welcome.
Mornin’, gang -
Probably showing my political ignorance here but can someone please answer this question (wrt NY 23):
How the spit does someone run for a position in a district in which that person does not live? (That’s assuming the news reports that hoffman does not live there are, in fact, true.)
I seldom have quibbles with Rachel but her enthusiasm last night wrt this being an election day was waaaaaaaaaaaaay over the top.
Senator Clinton from New York, Terry McCaullife (sp) for Governor of Virginia?
A little revisionist history; Gore might have been elected, which was worth more than a dime’s worth of difference; let’s see, without eight years of delusionist wingers, we’d have no wars, regulated financial industry and even competent overseers, therefore the ability to serve the country’s needs and prosperity, meaning we could have health care like the rest of the industrialized world, which incidentally hasn’t been waging off budget wars and borrowing into their kids’ budgets for decades to come.
Hopefully the sane element will get out and vote. See the Charlotte race, a biggie; http://seminal.firedoglake.com/diary/12507
*G*
It sure does explain why hoffman reportedly was very poorly versed on the “local” issues of importance to the people who may/may not vote for him.
rotsa ruck grasshopper
Got no mailers on ballot issues, and am a Dem voter, something obviously not wanted. Will so vote. Thx
Good morning, pups. It’s Bobo, Cohen and Herbert today. Oh, sweet baby Jesus… In “Cellphones, Texts and Lovers” Bobo is going tut-tut again, this time about cellphones and texting technology that give suitors instantaneous contact, without the stability of guidance from the community. Oh, Christ, Bobo. Your grandpa probably said the same thing about the telephone. Mr. Cohen, in “The Hinge of History,” says Iran is experiencing a brutal clampdown, but memories of 1989 suggest that the dam must break when a repressive regime and the society it rules march in opposite directions. Mr. Herbert, in “A Glimpse of the Future?”, says President Obama gave a stirring speech on the crucial issue of energy last week, but it lacked the excitement that should accompany an important national mission.
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got a selection of bagels with cream cheese. According to Joe the title of “America’s Mayor” has been passed to Bloomberg, so I guess it’s kinda like a hereditary peerage. Who knew? Have a great day.
Morning all, anyone?
Today, the Party of No becomes the Party of the Certifiably Insane.
And the White House will continue to search for bipartisanship.
Morning f.h.m. and all.
Goofy Obsolete Partisans
Politico is on WashJournal telling us that the black vote is all Corzine has got. Can I just turn off the teebee today?
And from the worst section of the worst newspaper in our nation’s capital,
this masterpiece concerning free speech:
She is much mistaken – the “anonymous lies” most easily can be found
in the Post’s news and editorial content.
They are also saying That Scallafaza(sp) was the first scalp. I thought Spector was the first. Idiots at Politico.
Good morning.
I’m going in to the city today specifically to vote against Bloomberg. I can’t bear the egomaniac who had the city council ram thru a removal of term limits that the citizens passed. Won’t do any good though, he has a double digit lead.
With any luck I may also come back to the country with a (currently) stray cat.
tee hee
I have heard non stop blumberg adds and have yet to hear an add from his opononent, not once
As near as I can tell, the D mayoral candidate is pretty weak. So I’m not voting FOR him, I’m voting AGAINST Bloomberg. I have heard some Thompson ads, but not nearly as many as the billionaire’s.
Maybe you should change your registration to the country?
How long does it take for you to get into the city?
I’m thinking about it. It is taking me quite awhile emotionally to “move” to the country even though I spend most of my time there these days. My vote would count more. There was a vote in the town for/against doing an environmental bond to buy open space that was approved by one vote. Still, the city has a big pull.
Oh geez, Albright’s on WJ, and what a moron. A couple of examples. She claims U.S. foreign aid goes mostly to the poor of the poor while it actually goes to Israel & Egypt. She claims the U.S. is fighting in Afghanistan to prevent AQ from having a base there, but AQ has moved to Pakistan. Does that mean the U.S. should be fighting that country? Jerk.
I grew up in Queens Village, a few blocks from the Nassau County line and Belmont Race track, went to HS at Brooklyn Tech and worked in downtown Manhatten during the summers while in HS.
Sounds like a nice youth. Was it?
I grew up in Buffalo, NY. I liked it as a place to grow up, but wouldn’t want to go back there to live.
Of goody, someone asked my Q to Albright. She finally mentioned Pakistan.
It was pretty good. Lots of things to do. Concerts at the Forrest Hills Country club, long days at the beach, politics etc.
I’ve been pondering how tastes change as we age. After I retired, I took up several of the activities that I enjoyed earlier but didn’t have enough time for. Some I did for while and then abandoned. Others (bicycling) have stuck.
When my son was there in 01 – 02 he spent a considerable amount of time operating out of a Pakistan AFB about 100 miles south of Islamabad then to a forward Sp ops base near Kandahar in Afghanistan.
Dangerous stuff.
ecahn! i’m sorry i missed wishing you a happy birthday last week. looked for you a couple of times, but just kept missing you. hope it was a good one!
oops. so sorry to interrupt a serious conversation.
AM Swim is up…
Thanks. I wasn’t online that day. I was in the city doing stuff, including having dinner with my son who was visiting from Austin. And yes, it was a good one. My son is still a wingnut, but has gotten a grip on some of his more stupid and provocational outbursts, so we were actually able to have a decent conversation. Also, he’s lost 50 pounds, so he looks a lot better. So yes, it was a very good good day.
very glad you had a good day!
OT, did anyone see the PBS docudrama on the Leo Franks lynching in Georgie in 1915? Very well done and exposed how some of the “leaders” of Atlanta and Georgia orchestrated the lynching. The rope was chopped up and sold as souvenirs to the faithful.
I will be watching NY-23. It is interesting that having whipped the mob to a frenzy, the GOP establishment is now unable to control them. Mob mentality and its leadership is worth watching. I guess I have a little Defarge in me.
