DIME bombs produce an unusually powerful blast within a relatively small area, spraying a superheated "micro-shrapnel" of powdered Heavy Metal Tungsten Alloy (HMTA). Scientific studies have found that HMTA is chemically toxic, damages the immune system, rapidly causes cancer, and attacks DNA. It cuts through victims with ease and for those lucky enough to survive such an attack the outlook is fairly grim. The fragments from such a weapon once embedded in the flesh of its victim will lead to cancer and can result in death as early as three months.

They do have very sophisticated spyware built into all of our communications equipment. I would say they do blackmail that works.

We could go after it as a conspiracy to commit treason and expose them. We could if we wanted to.

You left out the part about their super effective spy ring.

Since they designed lots of our communications equipment to have built in spyware, we really should assume ALL of our lawmakers are being blackmailed. Anyone can be blackmailed easily if ALL of their communications are bugged and monitored.

Plus Cheney's hit squads, don't forget about that. If they will mail you US military grade anthrax, they will also kidnap and torture your children or arrange a little airplane crash. Everyone is afraid of them.

Have not seen Hidden Wars of Desert Storm. Likely very worthy.

The history of American State Department signals to Saddam in year prior to Iraq going into Kuwait which was based on some historical prelude reaching back to Ottoman rule and then British Empire border drawups after WW1 in this part of the planet.

One could factor into this turn of events also the decline and fall of the Soviet Union. Post Soviet Union demise Washington was talking the peace dividend but that soon was eclipsed by American Kuwait War which led to Iraq being subdued, sanctioned and by March 2003 very ripe for Shock and Awe.

Washington soon proceeded with plans to install some American military superbases across Iraq and that fortress mega U.S.Embassy building which are now in place and showing little sign of being dismantled for one or two decades to come. Iraqi airspace is and remains under defacto USAF direct control.

Israel plays Washington like a fiddle year after year,no matter who Americans put in Congress or the WH. This is a simple fact. Both American political parties have been co-opted by Israel. Washingtons dereliction of any American foreign policy about or towards Israel apart or separate from what Israel seeks or desires is wanton. As Siun has presented here at FDL so well so often.

President Obama has disappointed often since moving into the WH Oval Office. More and more there is little reason to think or believe Barack Obama is going to be a profile in presidential courage on Israel or Arab Palestine. It is certain Barack Obama has left the plight of the Gazans to TelAviv merciless and war crimes premised occupation conduct in Gaza.

SoS Clinton with her actions, answers, statements and posturing is making it plain to see Barack Obama is not going to make Israel change its abuse of what is legal, moral or truthful. Barack Obama is not going to change what WashingtonDC has been doing across the Middle East or South Central Asia since 1980.

Thanks for the excellent reply, shootthatarrow.

"It always seemed more like Saddam had failed to topple Tehran so Washington demoted him by ruse of letting him attack Kuwait then turning on him and taking over Iraqi airspace."

Have you seen "Hidden Wars of Desert Storm"? I think that's basically what happened. Lots of evidence:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eG5D8JyTUw

As far as Pakistan, when I see a "suicide" bomb, like the one last week which occured hours after the NYT published details of Brother Karzai's CIA and Opium connections, my first thought is "Israel did it," and my second thought is "CIA did it."

Have you seen "Missing Links"?

Peace to you Christina - sadly I come too late to this posting.

Sending a Clear Message to the Muslim World

Much of the world – and many of us – greeted the Obama adminstration as a breath of fresh air, a chance to reshape the American role in the world and reopen civil relations with the Muslim world in particular. Recent news proves how wrong we were.

I suspect that many Americans mistakenly think that Obama's speech in Cairo and his alleged desire to deal fairly and honestly with the Dar al-Islam was taken seriously by Muslims.

It was not.

Furthermore Americans in my experience overstate the Cairo Speech's importance to the Dar al-Islam as a whole.

I suggest that people read his speech again you will see there is very little substance there although the tone is polite. In the light of American actions subsequent to his speech there is no reason to believe that President Obama has ever had even the slightest intention of dealing either honestly or fairly with the "Muslim world". His administration's deeds show that he is the latest imperialist in chief and that that is all he is.

Those of us who said at the time that pretty words and an emollient tone were merely the latest American ploy have been proved correct and our political stock has risen throughout the Dar al-Islam accordingly.

You might be interested in this Pew Survey.

Confidence in Obama Lifts U.S. Image Around the World: Overview - Pew Global Attitudes Project:
However for the most part, opinions of the U.S. among Muslims in the Middle East remain largely unfavorable, despite some positive movement in the numbers in Jordan and Egypt. Animosity toward the U.S., however, continues to run deep and unabated in Turkey, the Palestinian territories and Pakistan.

… … …

Even in some countries where the U.S. remains unpopular, significant percentages nonetheless say that they think Obama will do the right thing in international affairs. In Egypt and Jordan, sizable numbers have confidence in him - 42% and 31% respectively. This represents a three-fold increase compared with opinions about President Bush in 2008. But in Pakistan and the Palestinian territories, ratings of Obama are only marginally better than the abysmal ratings accorded Bush.

… … …

While the image of the U.S. is much improved and expectations about Obama are high, there has been only modest change in opinion of the U.S. on two key issues: multilateralism and the impact of the American global footprint. Expectations about Obama's multilateralism not withstanding, most still say the U.S. is not considering their country when making foreign policy. Only in Germany, India, Israel, Kenya, Nigeria, China and Brazil do majorities think the U.S. is taking their country's interest into account when making foreign policy. And overwhelming numbers of people around the world continue to see the U.S. as having a big influence on their country, with the publics of most nations surveyed describing that influence as bad, rather than good. Exceptions are India and Kenya, where majorities say that the U.S. impact is positive.

Emphasis added. Islam as I believe Abu Dubhaltach has told you is a very practical religion. We look at a person's deeds not words when we want to know how whether they are truly interested in peace or not.

I see no evidence whatsoever that Obama is anything other than a somewhat more competent and somewhat more polite version of his predecessor.
