By: Scarecrow Tuesday October 6, 2009 2:15 pm

The White House is considering extending unemployment benefits and measures to help job creation, none of them likely to make much difference, because they people advising Obama and the Senators who limit the options arent’ held accountable for where we are.

Baucus, CBO Wrangling Denied Wyden Vote on “Choice” Amendment

By: Jon Walker Tuesday October 6, 2009 1:10 pm

A few days ago, I wrote that the CBO screwed up Ron Wyden’s amendment by failing to fully score it, after telling Wyden that they had. As a result, Max Baucus wouldn’t let it come up for a vote on the Senate Finance Committee. Wyden is now threatening to vote against the entire bill, which could keep the Senate Finance Committee from reporting one.

So what actually happened?

Health Care Debate Misfocused on Insurance Exchanges

By: Scarecrow Tuesday October 6, 2009 11:55 am

Senate Finance Delays Health Care Vote: Did Baucus Screw Wyden and Lose His Vote?

By: Jane Hamsher Tuesday October 6, 2009 8:20 am

The Senate Finance Committee vote has been pushed back until next week, ostensibly so the CBO can come up with a final score. But it may have more to do with the fact that they don’t have the votes. Jay Rockefeller made an impassioned speech last week that indicated he’s probably a “no” vote on the Baucus bill, and now it looks like Ron Wyden might be in that column too. Since Baucus can only lose one Democrat and still get something through a committee with 13 Democrats and 10 Republicans, he has to bring one of them back on the reservation.

By: emptywheel Tuesday October 6, 2009 7:33 am

My Public Option

By: Jennifer Nix Tuesday October 6, 2009 6:02 am
