Marijuana has become mainstream. Breathless stories about it in TIME, Newsweek, and all major media outlets proclaim that it is either a potential savior of the economy, the scourge of teen development, or just a plant that happens to have a bad rap.

A second high-profile Senator has slammed the “trigger” idea favored by Sen. Olympia Snowe and, according to published reports, the White House, saying that a bill without a real public option would have a hard time picking up his support. Appearing on Face The Nation, Sen. Russ Feingold joined Sen. Jay Rockefeller in opposing the trigger idea, calling it “an invitation to the insurance industry” to keep themselves in line for a couple years, only to find new ways to abuse the system thereafter.

Ingraham’s right. These so-called “popular” people with approval ratings in the 50s are irrelevant. Cheney’s ability to sway the third of the country who still thinks George W. Bush was a great president remains impressive.

The Consumer Financial Protection Agency is a big win for our side. It’s academic enemies inhabit some parallel universe where prohibiting predatory practices is “behaviorial control”.
