– Item: CBS News cuddles up to Father Moon’s (and I don’t mean Warren) Washington Times to do an updated version of the “Lincoln Bedroom” hitpiece so popular among the TradMed during the Clinton years, and which strangely never got quite as much media play during the Bush years (though not for lack of sleepovers). Among the horrible, terrible, no good very bad things we learn: The White House! Has! A! Private! Movie! Theater! You can see in this picture the Obamas and their guests watching the Super Bowl in it! How shameless! (Meanwhile, CBS’ new buddies, the Moonie Times, continued the sort of reporting that has made them — until now, that is — longtime journalistic pariahs with their easily-debunked smears against the House health care reform bill.)
– Item: The AP (whose DC bureau chief is none other than Bush-Rove-McCain buddy Ron Fournier) did a really cockeyed smear job on the Obama stimulus program — a smear that of course was promptly picked up and amplified by FOX News among others — that was (surprise!) based on incomplete and cherry-picked information.
– Item: The very fact that so many legacy-media types (including supreme tool Jake Tapper) immediately rushed to kiss FOX’s feet (and wag their fingers at the White House in a way they never did when Bush occupied it) after that mean ol’ Obama picked on Rupert and Roger’s creation.
One is happenstance, twice is coincidence. But three times? You gotta wonder.

Need to start workin’ the NSA wiretaps on these tools, like Cheney’s team did. They’ll fall in line, they did for W.
Normal news consumers see FOX as outside the MSM, but to “working journalists” FOX is just the fellow in the next chair, or the woman in the cubicle across the way, or the fellow talking head star doing a standup broadcast on the White House lawn. They don’t see each other as representative of their employers’ views. In fact, for many of these cocktail-weenie-lovers, the employer is replaceable: look how often the stars jump ship from one to the other.
That potential is always there: a move for bigger bucks and more exposure. Why risk cutting off the possibility of future employment? FOX is always hiring, right?
I think it’s just you.
Don’t forget how Politico (via Yahoo) is whining about TPM being now part of the White House Press Pool.
Hey, it’s the FOX News and Moonie Times Defender! So where’d you put the coffee?
Ah, yes, Politico — owned, financed and operated by Republicans!
You said that so much nicer than what I was thinking.
A-yup. This is probably the clearest proof that Obama isn’t — otherwise these peeps would be squawking about it loud and clear.
He can stay as long as he stops hiding the Jamaica Blue Mountain on us.
Speaking of which, I gotta get a cup.
I hope that Obama sticks to his guns. Once the celebrity press corps understands that Obama cannot be bullied on something like this, they will back down.
I don’t think you should pick on the Moonie Times – he is, after all, King of the World. Lots of Republican Congressmen were there to see it happen. s/
Fair and balanced right wing propaganda
I read somewhere this week that the Moonie Times’ circulation is below 70,000 daily now, proving that it’s just a propaganda outlet for right-wing talking points and trial balloons.
Thought it was humorous to watch these characters when they were pontificating about the demise of GM without realizing “For Whom the Bell Tolls”.
Yes, pretty funny. Don’t they read their numbers. They gots no mirrors? And, I thought attacing the President used to be considered treasonous.
Unfortunately, we’ll always have Fox. Misery loves company.
BTW, I’ve perused the Moonie Times (I assume you’re speaking of the Washington Times) a few times. Instead of Moonie Times wouldn’t it be more accurate, not to mention fair and balanced, to call it Loony Times? I’ve read some shit on their op-ed page that had me thinking it was written by someone in a loony bin somewhere.
I remember seeing that, too. Yet Father Moon still props it up — and hey! He just scored a major coup in his efforts to become ‘respectable’!
I don’t wanna hear any crap about standardless bloggers from anyone in CBS now, ever again.
News media has always been biased ,just not blatantly so …….Fox is over the top!
Oh, indeed. It’s run for Father Moon by neo-cons — meaning, in this case, neo-Confederates such as R.S. McCain.
Oops. And, here I am still in my jammies. I’ll go put some real clothes on. Don’t want to dumb down our image.
Loony Moonie Times maybe?
for some people jammies are real clothes , I see people out in public wearing their jammies.
Cotton jammie bottoms are big in LA. Where are you? I forgot.
Ps and wipe the Cheetos goo from your fingers
Central Mass and cotton jammies are big here too even saw a dude out in public in his jammies
What’s this world coming to? Who was it that had a problem with the new administration not always wearing full suits in the Oval Office?
Just going to hell in a hand basket. I say.
Not a problem. People who frequent blogs can wear jammies all day. As long as they stay in the basement.
Is he a mafia guy tryin’ to show that he’s too looney to stand trial?
Well, I’ve put real clothes on ’cause I’m running out to do some errands. Most of us in LA don’t have basements, tho. *g*
Still, my favorite blogging outfit was when the Peanut was little, Christy once led the thread with a barbie tiara and a princess feather boa. Now that’s blogging!

A quick google on that was that a few years ago the Times was trumpeting that they had actually passed 100K in circulation (but there were other sites stating they had never crested 100K at all), so I think any figures reported by the Times itself would be suspect.
Just in case it was not a rhetorical question, I believe it was w’s one time cos andrew(?) card.
From the Washington Times article:
“The release of the logs included some familiar names that were not what they appeared. Logs showed visits by Michael Jordan, William Ayers, Michael Moore and Jeremiah Wright, but the White House said none of them were the well-known figures with those names.”
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/oct/31/oprah-george-clooney-among-first-white-house-visit/
Oh, it was a different William Ayers and Jeremiah Wright….not the ones we read about.
Someone should tell the White House it’s Halloween not April Fools Day.
you want to have some fun?
on every news broadcast, see who gets the last word
9 out of ten times it’s the corporate agenda that has the last thing to say on anything political
One is happenstance, twice is coincidence. But three times?
“Three times is enemy action.”
– Auric Goldfinger
Seriously, it’s long past time treating these actions, these people, as anything but blatant actors for a cause I do not share.
I see the Republican has dropped out of the NY-23 race. Scozzafava suspends NY 23 campaign
Teddy’s got something up on that
and so does Jon Walker
What do you expect of the DC media? That is the Drain-Circling Media. But seriously what do you expect? The Republicans are corrupt and batshit crazy. The Democrats are completely conniving and just as corrupt. Our economy is being run by and for the benefit of pirates. And our media couldn’t find their ass with both hands without some of the above telling them where it is each week.
And Hoffman now will win.
It wasn’t rhetorical, and I think you are right. Andrew Card. What a stuffed suit.
When the financial markets begin phase 2 of the collapse, which may be starting now, the knives will come out against Obama. I believe within 2 years there will be serious 24/7 debate in all the media on if we should allow the military to take charge until the next election. The consensus choice will be Patreous, our Caesar. Caesar will have to agree however to let the financial elites keep and even increase their control of the Treasury and the Fed. He/they will.
Sure, this prediction is off the charts paranoid. I don’t really think this is anywhere near how the story will be told but I will say the possibility of certain aspects of it are very high.
