If you want to throw up more robustly, you can watch Pununu on WJ.

Next on Pununu’s cue cards, I really expect to be how grateful we should be to Big Pharma for all its research, and Wall Street for its innovation – that we are paying for.

I’ve muted him, while listening to democracynow on another window.

Before I muted him, some caller called him “her.” Guess the caller was listening on the radio. Heh.

Good morning to you too.

80% of Pharma research is me-too drugs, i.e., the smallest patentable difference from an existing blockbuster.

While Obama represented everything I wished politics could be, Rahm Emanuel represents every thing I loathe about it. His mixture of rancorous strong-arming of supporters and unprincipled compromise with the intent only of making it appear something had been done are anathema to me.

Morning all.

Very good question BT, why is the word “considers” in that headline. Ever wonder what the headlines would look like if our politicians and media all actually had the best interests of the country in mind? I do.

Why is the word ‘considers’ in this headline?

This is the methodology that is used to encourage the banksters to bring wheelbarrows full of money to congress.

Mornin’, BT, pups

Sounds like I need to go buy popcorn for this week. And some chocolate eclairs to make up for the hollow calories in popcorn.

I wonder if it means anything that the daily BAG News Notes ad has lately been featuring a photo of Volcker and Obama together, and suddenly even Geithner seems to be on board with stricter bank controls. Up until just recently, word was that Volcker was not being let close to the prez. Maybe that’s changed now.

I smell a Rahm.

Its hard to be Machiavelli reborn as such an Obvious Person:) The guy telegraphs his moves the same way all the Time a leak to the NY Times normally in exchange for a Puff Piece about Rahm or maybe once in a while about Obama or the WH.
I think Rahm gets more Puff Pieces from the Times than the President.

Soviet-Afghan War arrived Saturday. From reading the intro by the Russian general staff the only thing that’s changed since their invasion in 79 is that the puppet government is supported by a different country, ours. It’s amazing that these generals, who’ve probably been in the military 30+ years, in 2002 were still seeing some things through a Marxist-Leninist lens. The editors say that doesn’t show up in the rest of the book.

Newt Gingrich, the former House Speaker and perennial big thinker in the Republican party, said this morning that he will likely run for president in 2012 if he and his wife, Callista, assess the field of candidates in 2011 and feel “a requirement as citizens that we run.

http://www.politicsdaily.com/2009/10/25/newt-gingrich-says-he-may-run-for-president-in-2012/

The only Requirement Newt needs is the ability to raise enough Campaign Cash to run a major campaign.

I’m about 2/3 thru Charlie Wilson’s war. I guess I’d change my vocabulary slightly, in the sense that the Soviets didn’t “win” before the U.S. entered. There was always fundamentalist guerilla resistence. But it was pretty ineffective in terms of actually challenging Soviet influence. The U.S. actually entered the fray pretty quickly, but U.S. aid (“fighting the war to the last Afghan” is a favorite phrase of that era) was not very effective until Avrakotos took on his staff an analyst, whose name eludes me right now, who completely overhauled the kind of aid. The U.S. was sending over WWI Enfields, and not enough ammunition, for example, when what was required was the same guns the Soviets were using to that the guerillas could use captured supplies.

Too lazy to google, but do I remember correctly that Callista has money? In which case, she’s in for the long haul, even if she gets sick.

I looked her up on Wikipedia, and she looks like a regular girl. Plays French horn in the local orchestra, sings in the church choir, and no big bux apparently. “It must be love I’m feelin’, it must be love.”

Im assuming that’s a royal “we”, unless there is a debate about who will run. Mostly I am impressed he can keep straight the name of his present wife…(just to put in a word.)He is so swarmy.
