About Firedoglake
good morning. That el gato negro ad is nice, also short. Thanks for the roundup, Elliott
Mornin’, Elliot -
Looks like tweety’s show would be a good one to avoid today….and it isn’t like (MS)NBC doesn’t provide scar enough talk time during the regular week; they’ve got to put his miserable mouth on Sunday as well. Gag! Many thanks for preparing us in advance.
Are they feeding the jackals? from tweety on WH v Faux Newz
yeh, W, I can’t stand the scar
Dan Rather says it’s good strategy, and the right is a distinct minority party, part of it is that O is first African American president.
The message is hurting them.
Important HCR article from Sam Stein at HuffPo last night. Salient quote concerning the White House’s motives:
“If we’re this close in the Senate and they’re not helping us, I have a feeling they could screw us in the conference,” said one [top Democrat].
That would be really, really bad. Probably bad enough to justify killing the bill now.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/10/24/leaderless-senate-pushes_n_332844.html
On Chris Matthers re Pres O vs Faux;
He’s the road runner to their coyote; Sully .
Thinks WH should let them hurt themselves, stay above it, waspy
Helene Cooper for staying presidential, loves calling O ‘waspy’
Parker thinks the right is killing themselves, no one wants to be with teabaggers.
Sully; remember Clinton, the smearing hurts
Parker thinks the food fight hurts the right. Sully agrees, that’s when WH gained in polling
Sully; health care is bankrupting the country, everyone sees the teabaggers aren’t doing them any good. O better represents conservative ideals than the right does
Matthews show on the next campaign;
Tweety and Parker saying it’s Romney’s turn as candidate.
Sully agrees, altho thinks he’s (sleazy-my word) Romney will say anything at all. but Ron Paul hangs in there. a fun race
Rather, what we least expect may happen, even Huckabee, tho Romney seems most likely as former runnerup
Cooper entertains a chance for Palin
Parker; the right fears a winning Palin, will lose the election
Tweety’s panel all think Pres O will make everyone angry on Afghanistan, think he will go down the middle, send limited troops.
Sully, Tweety agree, he’ll pull out later.
And there you have the Matthews show. Sorry to dominate the conversation.
I get it so early because I’m so far out in the country, guess the station wants me to go in to the big city after my news talk fix.
Good morning, pups. It’s Dowd, Friedman and Rich today. Nicholas Kristof is off, so he didn’t drink whatever the Times put in the water coolers to produce today’s cavalcade of stupid. STOP THE PRESSES! MoDo, who I recall has repeatedly mentioned growing up Catholic, has had a blinding revelation: In “The Nuns’ Story” she breathlessly informs us that forty years after feminism utterly changed America, nuns are still considered second-class citizens by the Roman Catholic Church. No shit, MoDo — really? First I’ve heard of it… The Moustache of Wisdom has dusted off his cheerleader pom-poms: I-R-A-Q! Rah, rah, rah! In “Eyes on the Prize” he says let’s figure out Afghanistan. But Iraq must remain a priority. Transform Iraq and it will impact the whole Arab-Muslim world. He neglects to say how many Friedman Units the job will take… Mr. Rich writes “In Defense of the ‘Balloon Boy’ Dad,” and says to see what “balloon boy” says about 2009, you have to look past the sentimental moral absolutes.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got chocolate croissants and wonderful ripe pears this morning. I think I’m going to go off and pound my head on the wall for a while to see if I can knock any of MoDo and Friedman’s stupid out… Have a great day.
thanks Marion, those Friedman units expand into infinity, it seems.
Morning all. Thanks Elliott for the warnings and thanks Marion for putting yourself in harms way. Becareful that PTSD is a bitch. Dog woke me up early this AM – he was licking my face and jumping on me with his ball in his mouth. Looked at the clock and had a WTF moment but got up. The rest of the clocks were an hour later. My alarm clock was made to automatically reset for standard time unless congress screws around with the date.
Morning pups!
Laura Ingraham??!!???
Man, Snuffalufagus is getting desparate.
The cats don’t want me to get up, they like to cuddle in to stay warm. So I have a comfy pillow in front of the heater for them, or I’d suffocate when the temp turns cold.
And Sullivan takes a great shot at the wingnuts….at least they’re seen for the crazies they are.
The dog gets to go out and get fed first thing. Then it is back to sleep curled up at my feet.
Good morning. Thanks for your work Elliott.
Gonna be a gorgeous autumn day so I’ll be outdoors after I finish my coffee.
17 deg F here – Looking forward to snow.
Sully isn’t at all happy with conservatives being represented by teabaggers, makes for bad company for him (and David Brooks, heh)
while I think it’s a happy coincidence, isn’t it, that it takes being nuts to be a wingnut?
That was my reaction. I wonder if next week he’ll have the Shamwow guy.
Sounded like he wanted to romp with the ball and you. Footwarming is a sacred duty.
Dog bless Rich…that is a great commentary on what the balloon story *should* teach the media and the public! Too bad most of them live in “la, la, la, I-don’t-hear-you” land. :-(((
Is he out of jail?
Brrrr. That’s pretty cold for October, isn’t it?
Gonna be in the 50s here. Brilliant sunshine. Yesterday was rain all day long, so I’m looking forward to getting outside.
they could also screw us after passage with regulatory neglect — either in the regulations that they write (congress is abdicating almost all of that to the hhs) or in enforcement. this scheme of a public-option-in-a-multi-payer-system) is very very dependent on regulation and enforcement.
i just do not see how this is going to be an affordable approach. (see here and this thread)
Wasn’t that the dude with the hideous voice who died?
It was colder than that last cold front.
I don’t know, but it doesn’t really matter. They could change to the format with multimple Hollywood Squares-looking boxes on screen.
No. The shamwow guy is the one with the microphone attached to his head who thinks everyone is going to love his nuts.
No, I forget his name. This one also has a hideous voice, but looks kind of like a gawky punk, and gained notoriety by socking a prostitute. That’s the end of my knowledge on any of them. I was just trying to think of who might be on a par with Laura Ingraham.
It’s difficult to get any govt program to work if your only electoral choices are people who worship teh market.
love love love the cat lady vid.
i am a crazy cat lady who lives at the top of the hill (5 cats). years ago a very good friend of mine sent me a card (which i have posted on my office cork board), the evolution of the cat lady. first drawing is of a lady sitting on a chair with a cat in her lap. second drawing there are two cats in her lap, third there are three in her lap and another on the headrest. by the seventh drawing the lady and the chair are no longer visible underneath all the cats. love that card. and the friend? now she’s encouraging me to get a dog to go with the cats!
I was just trying to think of who might be on a par with Laura Ingraham.
No such animal. And without Dr. Krugman, the panel is lacking any grounding in reality. Will hit ‘off’ then.
You’re going to love my nuts

The 911 fiasco was the mother of all diversions. It went on for years and led to 2 wars and no one looks behind or wants to discuss that slight of hand.
While these media diversions are handy to pull of bait switch all the time, 911 was a complete reset and a paradigm shift in America.
Why is it taboo to look into that day?
silly me. i thought the national dems were all about making gov work for the people. guess i’ve got to watch out better for the kool aid, somebody must have snuck me some while i wasn’t looking.
I think its the Ds who drank the kool aid.
Actually, I hope Krugman wouldn’t ever cast his pearls before the Ingraham. But, I might not mind seeing Ron Reagan “discuss” issues with her.
Sounds rather like my cat cousin who *did* have five (but lost four to various causes over the last ten months). She went to the pet store recently on one of those adoption days (just to look, don’ya know) and came home with *two* kittens. *g* Met them last week and they are adorable; both seem to be trending toward lap cats which is more than could be said of the previous ones.
Dr. Krugman’s face when Geo Will spews nonsense is a treat. Can’t imagine he could stay serious when Ingraham lets go with some of her stupefaction. Might be worth watching.
Q: What’s the difference between ignorance and apathy?
A: I don’t know and I don’t care.
True for both the media and much of the US population. :-(((
Lately, I’ve been wanting to see a debate with Alan Grayson and Anthony Wiener teamed against anyone the right wants to throw into a room with them.
lol, that’s the generous interpretation.
I choose Boner and Cantor
Ah, I see you also have a cruel streak.
wonderful! 4 of my 5 are lap cats…. but they are all getting on in years, i hope i don’t loose 4 in such a short period as your cat cousin.
Only when it comes to the wingers who are determined to destroy my country.
Gag. Noooot’s coming up on WJ. My coffee is gone, so I’m outta here. Be well.
Yes, I meant it that way.
thanks to marion and elliot for their courage in dealing with the depravity this sunday morning. i’m off, the sun is bright and chores are calling.
p.s. this week, i just started reading debunking economics by steve keen (currently tied as my fav academic economist). it’s a hoot and pretty mind blowing.
Good morning Ruth! Glad to have the Matthew preview.
Waccamaw!
yeah, nothin’ like Scarborough eight days a week.
Just got back from planting pansies in the front bed. From what y’all are saying about what’s on the TeeBee I think I spent my time well! (And nothing that a handful of ibuprofen won’t cure — all that crawling along on hands and knees is being commented upon by arthritic old joints…)
Holy cow!!! John McCain on Face the Nation again. Isn’t that old coot worried about being over exposed. He is on the Sunday shows mopre than Obama.
Quite welcome. Tweety and Co. seem to be magnetically repelled by teabaggage, much like the country as a whole.
Wonder if he is going to talk up his bill to kill net neutrality so all of the rethugs can talk about how Obama is going to take away our freedoms.
Nice, I do love pansies – and have some purple sedum ready to be planted, myself.
At least Kucinich will get the last word.
Can they be planted in snow?
Well, from what I could tell this week, it was all that Fox talked about, thus limiting the time they spend spewing lies about health care reform. That’s a good thing
Then I read stuff like this:
Senate Pushes For Public Option Without Obama’s Support
It is so discouraging because he could make it happen — if he wanted to.
For snow, I recommend the purple Kale, instead.
Good thought, there, but if Faux spews into empty space (delete button on my teebee), is it really still vile nonsense?
Am sick of coloration of everything Pres.O. does as right wing.
thanks for the chocolate croissant, hits the spot this morning.
As for Frank Rich, Jenna W says it better than I can (in a reply to a similar piece on Gawker)
Woke up this a.m. thinking that if MLK were alive today he would be leading the way on meaningful health care reform in the streets and Obama would be shamed and embarrassed.
Morning, Mike – that auto time change hits my VCR too. arrrgh
You are a nice puppy owner, love the early breakfast then back to bed life of cats and dogs.
Morning, sangamon, good day for a flight?
seems like it, are there no people from the “alternative” media worthy of a seat at the roundtable?
I have a cranky cat that can be very insistent on sitting on my shoulder. Hard to dissuade her without injury.
after yesterday, who can blame you …
LOL, can’t get much worse…
me either
woooo., David Gregory repeated his question about six times to box turtle Cornyn, did the previous admin commit enough resources to Afghanistan, never got an answer. first time I saw DG do a journalistic act.
I’m looking forward to Caturday today,
and then tomorrow’s version of Caturday.
What would your cats think about a dog?
oil?
bitter tasting now
Shoulder isn’t enuff, my cranky cat licks my head until I move off the pillow. Try not laughing and giving in.
sad but true
Ahh Facts and Conviction, a beautiful combination.
Pansies, way to late for them now, but they are an end of the season treat. And when Spring comes around, their cheery faces are among the first you’ll see.
yeah, Shock of Ages. I wonder if he has a standard rotation set up for the bobblehead shows.
And as another commenter noted: “You forgot denial and projection.” Don’t know what media those people are talking about but the day I see one of the talking heads actually “self-flagellate” is gonna be a day to break out a bottle of the bubbly.
*sigh*
If only, if only….
Will watch out for that. A spark!
awww. Just helping you with your ablutions.
Wouldn’t ya love to see him continue to ask the same question for the entire program? Reckon most of the viewing audience might just start getting a clue about the thug mindset?
Yesterday’s mail call was quite the event. Got my Public Option Please buttons, one of which will get worn to work every day. Got my 2010 Medicare Handbook. Got my IWW ballot for election of officers. Last, but certainly not least, was the shipment from Amazon with The Soviet-Afghan War, How a Superpower Fought and Lost by the Russian General Staff (2002). If the bozos in the Shrub administration had read “The General Staff Introduction” we might not be in Afghanistan today. The only thing that has changed since 1979, when the Soviets invaded the country, is the puppet government is supported by a different country, ours.
Means time to wash the hair fer sure, that does. yucky.
Wacamaw, it was astonishing, had Cornyn really sweating it.
A mail delivery like that does make a happy man.
Here they go on all winter, and collapse in the first hot weather in late spring.
Are you certain is was David Gregory?
Makes ya wonder why the talking heads don’t realize how much fun they could have with sadism by pursuing the same question relentlessly?…….and even if they don’t have fun, *we* sure could!
I was not in front of the teebee at the time, did walk back over to make sure. yep, dancin’ Dave.
