Hey Kelly! Look who’s here!
Hey Suz!
hey newton — how’s the bay area tonight?
dry
cool
still
i imagine you are not similarly adorned…
well, sorta cool and dry but a storm is blowing in tonight so that’s gonna change. a warm front followed by a cold front on tuesday that is gonna drop the snow level down to 2500 feet. thursday more rain that takes it back up to 7,000 feet
Hi, Suzanne. I know that the ReNoYouCants spoke out against Obama’s calls to voluntarism, but, wow, I thought tonight’s Extreme Makeover was really tear-jerking. A family that has devoted their lives to volunteering for the less advantaged got a makeover….just seemed right. It’s good to give without expectation of reward…..and fun to see someone rewarded anyway.
hey dearie — i’ve not watched extreme makeover. am glad a worthwhile family had some of their good will returned their way. how ya been?
You know what’s funny – all these years I remember Jack Benny NOT being able to play a lick. He isn’t great, but he’s not totally lost.
i’ve heard that he was a much better player than what he portrayed. i loved the violin with the candelabra on it — totally cracked me up
dammit – I hate when I find out that there’s a news thread and that I’ve just been talking to myself.
Blogs imitate life obviously.
Hey newt! Hey Suz!
I watch so you don’t have to! I keep wanting to think the show is stupid, but then I see these needy families get another chance at life and just well up. I’m a softy. I don’t mind being exposed to all the advertising since I know that it is going to a good cause. Guests (who also worked on the house) this week: Oprah’s chef (Art Smith), Rocko DiSpirito (not sure why), and Sandra Lee (who grew up on sustenance from foodbanks and now dates, I think, the Cuomo boy.) I believe in volunteering….helps those who are in need and is good, I think, for the soul. We are all in this together, after all.
hey jayt — how ya doing tonight?
isn’t sandra lee on the food network — i think she has that semi-homemade show
More rock and roll is needed! A little John Hiatt for y’all!
hey that guy — great tune! how ya doing?
Yes. I found her rather annoyingly kitchy until I heard that she’d grown up in a huge and hungry family and was just trying to find her place in the world.
Good forkin dawg Zuz, candleabra’s and . . . and . . . . stuff?????
Yer killin me . . .
*G*
It’s Sunday night so anxiety is high – I hate the world we live in right now.
Just finished a guitar amp I was building for a friend. Sounds just like mine that someone in Nashville built for me 12 years ago. Finishing that feels good.
Anybody need a Tweed Fender clone? I build ‘em good. :-D
my mission here is accomplished *G*
I heard that doode. . .*G*
how cool thatguy. maybe a budding business for ya? you sure do know a lotta musicians and being a guitar player yourself speak that language…
just waiting for the damned UPS guy to show up tomorroww.
otherwise, I may have to hunt him down and kill him, if he doesn’t bring me a new hard drive.
(metaphorically speaking of course)(in reality, I may just knee-cap his ass)
You got good missions, gal. *G*
Do you live on the left coast?
Love it!
Suz ! Newt !
Jack Benny was a Master … what a great clip !
Mary – yep, Sillycohn Valley.
hey mary mcc — how’s sac tonight?
Most of the pros I know already have more amps than they know what to do with. I’m thinking about trying to sell a few locally to gearheads.
thanks margot — how’s ohio tonight?
I SWEAH ewe peeps are outah ye cages.
*G*
thatguy@13:
Have I mentoned that I’m “waiting” for the UPS guy?
goddammit.
(umm, I guess that’s a metaphorical “goddammit”)
hey pet — glad ya liked it. how ya doing dood?
Love the candleabra.
The Violin with the Candleabra was priceless … Jack Benny & his peers were Gods of timing … and the look of displeasure on his face *g*
I have a friend that sells guitars and amps but Ron just told me he only likes really old ones. oh well.
go for it dood.
hey tbsa — how ya been?
Sac is good. It is really nice out. But there are too many rattlers in the back so I have been walking the neighborhood instead.
Larue !
STOP it.
Yer burnin my heart.
Sigh. *G*
Hey there Suzanne. Firepups.
Egg-cellent ! Gettin’ cold and windy up in Toronto, so planning lots of indoor meetups with friends & relatives over the Winter.
This might be the coldest Winter in a long time, the way it’s shaping up.
nekkid rattlers?
Do any of you remember a band in the bay area in the early 70’s called Steamin’ Freeman? Or a band called The Herd in the midwest in the late 60’s?
hey teddy — how’s sf tonight? i hear the santa cruz mts are burning again — same spot as last year
{{{Petro}}}}
*G*
Howdy, hoss….. *G*
You have the Repub Caucus in your backyard ?
But there are too many rattlers in the back so I have been walking the neighborhood instead.
What – are there signs and fines and stuff?
I really don’t wanna be the guy who has to tell the rattlers they are owing some serious money in fines…
No. Of course not. They only get nekkid when they have relations. Ron killed one the other day. I feel sort of sorry for it and him.
NO,
I would not insult rattlers so.
I make clones of the old ones. Tell him I make clones of narrow-panel Tweed Fenders. Champ, Deluxe and Super are all I do right now.
But whatever – the economy is so fucked no business except health denial is going to do very well.
Teddy ! How’s things in the most beautiful City in the known Universe ?
Can you tell I met some folks from SanFran this weekend ? *g*
I thought of you this weekend … have to get around to planning some Hearty Soups to beat back
ol’ man winter …
KILL ALL snakes, all of them.
Just don’t be wasting a good dobro on them fuckers!!!!!!
ARGHHHHH!
HAHAHAHA. Hiatt is hit and miss with me…but when he’s good, he’s really good.
Next band I’m in I want to do “Tennessee Plates.”
My friend goes to the guitar shows and sells things he has found here and there.
Point taken … apologies to Rattlers and all other species of Snakes.
Next band I’m in I want to do “Tennessee Plates.”
As you should.
(boo-rah for the Indy guy)
He hit him/her with a big branch. A couple of years ago the neighbor lady came over and said a big rattle snake was in her backyard. Ron went over and the snake was eating a squirrel. He killed it. Their natural predator is the king snake and they are gone from the green belt. Many dogs in the neighborhood have been biten. Kitties some times just don’t come home ever.
Hoss, you want soup?
Just ask . . . . I’m at yer soivice, you and all folks.
My recipes are YOUR recipes, day after day.
Happy to soive, hosssssss .
laruepork at netzero dot com
Just oink meh, I got a few hunnert.
*G*
*MOD NOTE: edited so the email zappers can’t snag the addy*
Thank you so much … sending you my e-mail addy right away.
Mary, snakes come in all flavors.
Kill them all!
Really.
Oh now, Larue. Some snakes are pretty and handy. They keep the vermin population down.
Heh, bite me?
Mary, snakes are evil.
Kill them puppahs!
ALLL of them!
*G*
snake farm
sounding almost biblical there dood *G*
Thanks mods, I’m kewl . . . . *joy*
My partner is from Indiana, and she’s a big Hiatt fan.
Yep. *G*
Oh we’re fine, I’m kinda worried about you, you got your chains on yet?
HATE snakes! *G*
no snow predicted at sea level. just up in the snow zones.
So much for biodiversity…
What’s next, ‘gators?
we could not tell
I going to say good night everyone. I am going to curl up in the bed with my puppies and read a book. I used to read all of the time but stopped about ten years ago. Or rather stopped reading books. I read the computer box. I promised myself I would start again. Right now I am reading Unaccustomed Earth by Jhumpa Lai. We should start a fdl fiction book club. We could meet once a month sort of like my martini night group.
g’nite mary mac — that is a great idea — you could start that up at sem.
I saw gators the last time I was in New Orleans in the county out by the river. The water was really high and had flushed out of the swamps. They were swimming right next to the road.
I am going to do it.
I think I’m going to try to go to sleep – Sunday nights are always hard. Lots of anxiety. WAAAAAAAA.
why did it have to be snakes?
g’nite that guy
An old lady brought in a paper sack to the ER, said she’d gotten bit. When the nurse found out there was a snake in the bag she about backflipped out of that room. The old lady kept saying, “It’s dead, honey, I kilt it, donchu worry!” That didn’t matter.
Nurse was freaked, had to have another nurse take care of that woman.
Hugs Mary, I’ll be a member if you’ll have me.
Sure. I will do some research for the first book. Something edgy, sexy and short. That would be a good start.
kinda like when folks bringing the grenade they found in dad’s garage into the pd instead of calling the pd to the garage.
edgy sexy and short? how about a between the numbers book by janet evanovich
I think bringing the snake in was a good idea. Doctors always want to know what bit a person.
Shot you an email, Larue. Tis soup/chili time for sure!
hey loohoo — how goes?
Sounds good to me.
Now I am really going to bed. Good night!
*wavin*
Most of us dislike the day after Sunday … Manic Monday
‘course, these days, we make Congresscritters hate Mondays with all our phone calls … *g*
hehehehehehe i used m/m over at my place last m-word day
and yeah, the congresscritters staff has gotta hate m-word days even more than usual
Well, Suz. Baby turned 21 today, and she and her sister went SKY DIVING! (I have fear of heights, so I think they’re still trying to make me worry!)
Beautiful weather here, and I’m hosting the retired teachers lunch tomorrow!!
holy moly! my baby girl turns 21 in december. i hope i don’t have to worry about her sky diving to celebrate.
how cool — what’s on the menu?
Why would anyone want to jump out of a perfectly good Airplane ?
Can you tell I’m no fan of sky diving ? *g*
egg zachery. thought about it a few times but it was always a fleeting thought…
Even the thought of Bungee Jumping makes me queasy …
i did the extreme skyflyer at great america — took baby girl with me (she was about 8). she screamed the entire time and it was the only ride she did not ask to go on again. but she could say that she did it.
It’s pot luck. Should be fun to see people I’ve know over so many years!
Petro, I’m no fan of sky diving either. Jossie said that when the parachute was up, she felt sea-sick. I’d pass out the minute I left the plane. What a way NOT to spend a birthday, huh?
I’d jump from an airplane before I’d do bungee jumping. That does not look safe at all.
Roller skating is more my thing.
OMG. Someone would have to pay me to do that. And I ain’t cheap.
pot luck is always fun. when i did the meetups, they were always pot luck and always such a variety of foods.
‘evening, Suze & Pups!
Soup? It’s snowed twice in the last couple of weeks and that put me in the mood for a hearty soup. So I made a huge pot tonight … lentils, a head of garlic, a huge onion, rutabagas & beets (from Baby Brother’s garden), carrots, shredded cabbage, a little celery, a little thyme, and lots of caraway seed. NOM. My work lunches will be great this week.
Yup … I used to love all the crazy rides when I was a Teen but I’d never Bungee jump or Sky dive. If I go up in a Plane, I’m coming down in one too … *g*
ya gotta pay extra for that thrill. i’m glad i did it just so i can say i did. i think if i had been flying solo it wudda been alot more fun rather than ‘parachuted’ into a double harness with her. was more worried about her and not able to enjoy the thrill.
hey ndfg — yikes! and that sounds yummy yummy.
Margot ! I just can’t understand why anyone would want to be a Human Yo Yo …
i think about flying on a plane and that lyric from isn’t it ironic goes through my head — about the guy on the plane that is crashing who had waited his whole life for that trip…
{{{{{ NDFG }}}}}
Caraway Seeds sounds like a great addition …
Gin and vermouth?
“K.”
*G*
Beats and nicks, gimme an olive please.
*G*
What a song … from a fellow Canuck too.
I’ve been flying since I was 8, so I don’t get scared … although I avoided Planes for 2 years after 9/11. It wasn’t the fear of flying as much as being mistaken for a terrist or sumthin’ …
sloe gin
Hmmm, garlic, onion, and some EVOO.
YAH, I could eat dat! *G*
i’ve not flown since several years before 9/11.
Agree with you and Margot. Just seems like asking for an injury that could last a lifetime.
{{{ PETRO }}} dood! i think i am gonna succumb and start watching hockey again this year.
Night, puppers.
g’nite loohoo
LOL … ’tis a great game.
Of course, I’d be happier if Toronto had an actual Pro Team, instead of the Maple Leafs … *g*
G’nite Loo Hoo, enjoy the meetup.
G’nite all … who are we going to call and badger about the PO this week … can’t wait to get started !
I heart you, and yer soups and yer noms!!!
*G*
Bless ya NDFG!!! *G*
g’nite petro — i’m sure reid is gonna be on that call list
Lord, Janis loved that stuff . . . *G*
gave me a headache each time i tried any… i was about 19 and i still remember that headache.. oy
I got not much to add, cept chicken stock, more garlic, and well.
I got not much to add. Sweet soup NDFG! *G*
SLURP!!!!!
*G*
*G*
i swore i was NEVAH nevah nevah gonna watch hockey again when the No’Stars went to Texas and broke my heart. But last year i snuck a few too many peeks at the screen when my daughters had Gophers or Wild on. aarrrrggghhh.
Petro! Me either. I don’t want something to ~snap~.
nowadays i’m just happy to make it down the stairs without anything snapping (/s)
back when i was young i was a lot more flexible
chicken stock is good, but i felt like a vegan soup.
chicken soup …. nomnomnom. My vegetarian daughter invites me over to cook chicken soup for my grandson. He’s five and already a great help as a stock maker.
heh. when i was young ‘n crazy i might have considered it (aside from the fact that i’m severely height-sick). Nowadays i’m a lot more cautious because i’ve learned i no longer bounce back. I go splat, and like a glob of silly putty, it takes a while to pull myself back together.
when i was young i was a flexible klutz. now i am ultra cautious and try not to klutz at all
Hum, Suzanne is on tonite! I wuz lokkin’ around before going to bed and saw your name up there.
So hello,g’nite in one pass I guess.
I may try to catch the first serious snowfall on Mt Hood this week.
hey starbuck — gonna ski? and g’nite i guess :)
No, take peekchairs. Skiing comes later. Maybe!
I’m fading so I’ll catch up some other time. I missed last night here at FD as well.
Hope you are well. :-)
have fun — and i look forward to seeing your peekchairs of hood.
