There’s A Rainbow In the Sky….
Well, I’m back at the Lake. It’s been a rough few weeks. First, I want to say a special thank you to Egregious for sitting in last week. Unfortunately, I was in the hospital. I am fighting an infection in my leg; at first it was diagnosed as Cellulitis, but now the doctors say it has the signs of a staph infection called MRSA. Anybody out there had any experience with this? I was in the hospital for an entire week and even though I’m home now, I had to come home with IV antibiotics.
Chip’s funeral was last Saturday morning. I actually had to get a pass from the hospital to go, and then I had to return afterwards. It was sad, but I was glad to be able to go to say goodbye to a dear friend.
At the same time I was in the hospital, we lost Kobe. Kobe was the man of the house. It has been difficult, but we are trying to get back to a semi-normal state.
So, saying all that, I believe there has to be a rainbow in the sky. Better days are coming. Any suggestions for the best way to “escape” and take a mental minute?

About Firedoglake
Welcome back DeVeria and please do take care of yourself. From all that I’ve heard and read, the MRSA stuff is not to be taken lightly (and you can probably thank agri-bidness amongst others for that joy of dealing with antibiotic resistant bugs).
Tell me about it. This is my first time dealing with something that an antibiotic didn’t immediately help. I had to try FOUR before we found one that seems to be helping.
Geez whiz, lady. You have had it bad!
I merely have a black eye. I was running from my desk in the LR to answer the phone in the kitchen and tripped on the leg of a dining room chair and went flying in to the doorjamb. It’s a doozy though. And, puffy! I look like a monster. I’ve been icing it and feeling a little sorry and mad at myself.
I put on a hoody, sunglasses and makeup yesterday to go out and buy some mums to plant in the yard. Felt like a normal for a little bit.
I like to read to get away from the uglies, myself.
Oh wow…you are lucky all you have is a black eye. You really could have broken something. I don’t think I’ll feel normal until I get off house arrest…lol. That’s what I get though, I don’t know how to do things in moderation.

Sorry to hear about your woes. I hope recovery comes soon.
I feel guilty that I have no health problems to report.
Don’t feel guilty, be happy! I can’t wait until the Sat am comes that I can come up here and tell you that I have no health problems. I’m waiting on my rainbow…
Billy Joel:
Darling I don’t know why I go to extremes
Too high or too low there ain’t no in-betweens
And if I stand or I fall
It’s all or nothing at all
Darling I don’t know why I go to extremes
I’m an aries. What are you?
I don’t think he had an MRSA but my father’s legs became septic/infected and that was what put him in the hospital at the very end before he died. It seems to be one of the areas of the body where people don’t think about the expanding problems until it is almost too late to deal with (also thinking about all the folks with diabetes who wind up having to have one or both legs amputated).
(said as one who has spent far more of my life dealing with hospitals than I really would have preferred)
Pouring with rain and 50 degrees here, so it’s an indoor day. But I have a good book going, Charlie Wilson’s War. I don’t agree with what he caused to happen, and lord knows the blowback has been terriffic, but he & Gust Avrakotos are such characters, as well as others in the book, that it’s like reading fiction.
Nice lyrics
Good Morning!
MRSA’s a very serious infection so it’s a good thing they found something that’s working. I hope you are catching up on your reading.
And looking for rainbows is always a good thing.
Yes, I wasn’t taking it seriously for a couple of months, but then the pain got to be too much and I was determined they were going to find out what was wrong with me. My grandmother was diabetic and she had one of her legs amputated. My mother is diabetic and she just won’t do right. It hasn’t come to me.
I’m sure. It is a rainy day here as well, so I’m not going to mind staying inside today. At least I get to go to church tomorrow. I will be spending my day catching up on work…what fun!
MRSAs are pretty scary; I’m glad to hear you found an antibiotic that works.
Ellie…I have work, work and more work to do. I will try to take some down time today though. Yesterday was a day that I didn’t feel like doing a lot, so I have to make up for it today. Yes, I am frantically rainbow searching…
Demi….so sorry. Hope you mend. And my cat slapped me with a claw last night by my eyebrow, right at the bridge of my nose. It really hurt; she does not know how close she came to my eye!! What hazards we live with. Feel better.
Ecahn: Have you seen the movie? It captures alot of that stuff, including Houston excesses, in a very colorful way.
I had been away, almost a week. It feels so good to be home, cat and all. Shall I say….age?
Glad you’re back, DeVeria. Must have been frustrating to be cooped up in the hospital.
It’s funny you thought of a rainbow at this time; in Hawaiian culture, rainbows are believed to be the transport system between this world and the next. Souls pass over to the next world on the rainbow, like a celestial elevator.
I guess we’ve had at least a couple rainbows this last week.
There is a myth about a menehune — a demi-god, kind of like a leprechaun — in Hawaiian culture. A menehune broke a code which required all menehune to be invisible to humans; the menenhune had to appear in the presence of a much-respected kahuna (chief) in order to save his life. The kahuna prayed to the high god Lono to spare this menehune. Lono took pity on both the kahuna and the menehune, and instead of killing the menehune, turned him into a dog who would serve the kahuna for the rest of a dog’s natural life (think the “sentence” was 12 years). But in exchange for this blessing, the menehune had to return over the rainbow at the end of his dog’s life to be restored to his menehune self.
Perhaps Kobe has now been restored to his magical self.
[edit: the menehune come back over the rainbow, too, to visit and work their magic among us; maybe a special menehune will come over and work magic on your leg, DeVeria!]
Oh, gawd, don’t feel guilty. You’ve had pain in your life. Just be happy now.
And, I’m using this situation to slow down, recoup and get in touch with my inner monster. Sometimes I look in the mirror and wonder who the hell that is and will I remember how this feels after it heals.
Call me a Pollyanna.
Well, I’ve got a lot of paperwork that I could do. Let’s see: read a good book or do paperwork? Hmmm.
I pray its working. Looks a little better, but the pain is tremendously better…but then again, I’m off of it most of the day.
Yes, I saw the movie, years ago. And yes, it captured it very well. I decided I needed to review what I thought I knew about the Soviet experience in Afghanistan. I think I’ll also reread Coll’s Ghost Wars.
I never knew that. Awww, that’s a nice way to look at it. We didn’t want him to suffer.
I know right…decisions, decisions
Mornin’, DeVeria, pups
For me escape is time to read, doesn’t matter what. Living in a small city bordering a larger one I’m pretty much stuck either inside or in the yard. If I lived in the country I’d take a book and one of my Lakota flutes and go sit in a field somewhere. I could read, play or watch flutterbies.
Take good card of yourself, DeVeria. MRSA is some serious bacteria.
Away? Work or pleasure. And, to where? Some place exotic and wonderful?
I didn’t know how serious until I did some research. That’s why I’m trying my best to stay off of it as much as possible until I’m healed. Escape, yes…I think after this is over my friend and I will disappear for a few days. It will give me something to look forward to.
The older I get, 66 next month, the more I’m glad that I did a lot of the things I wanted to do when I was younger. Doing that pretty much squelched any ideas of family or wealth but I have no regrets. I’ve got memories that will last well beyond the time I go collect my “children” at Rainbow Bridge.
Hi Deveria…
I knew a womon who had a very bad case of MRSA. she was in the hospital alot and that’s where she caught it! Then, she was in the hospital some more. I think she had a thing for hospitals!
Anyway, that is one nasty bug.
My chiropractor has this little poster on his wall that says ” Maybe it will go away” are the most dangerous words in the English language.
As for taking one’s mind off things while at the same time not feeling too much like a sloth, I find good books never fail.
Take yourself seriously, dear. Emotionally, physically and intellectually, it all works together to produce what health we can achieve. I hope you have someone you can talk to about your fears and pain who will listen to you with comfort and understanding.
As a friend of mine said while I was going thru a really tough physical patch “There’s nothing more interesting than watching your body fall apart!” And, at first,it’s true, then we learn how to be kind to our bodies and not treat them like some tool we use and we give them what they need.
I’d look into some nutrition/vitamins which will help your body recover, especially with the added emotional stress. I recommend Vits A, B complex, E, and C. Lots of them,; they are all healing vits
So, be very gentle with yourself. Get what you need with no apologies and G-dspeed and luck!
Good morning, DeVeria and all. I’m sorry to hear about the super-staph, but am glad they found an antibiotic that works. If at all possible, taking a drive somewhere that nature is really grand has always helped me to realize that my own problems, and even some pressing societal problems, are really pretty insignificant. Sometimes a walk through the park or drive to look at the fall leaves is enough.
Someone said that regrets were mostly for what you didn’t do. I agree. I’ve been able to do a lot, and am happy for it.
Oh, New Orleans. Mostly pleasure, serious nostalgia ’cause we lived there for years. It was Homecoming for “cover”, so went to a seminar. Trying to assist a “sr” friend with some business that had gotten complicated: Just remember: No good deed goes unpunished.
Plus, much of the city is coming back; not enough. But there is notable progress. So…really a great trip. Oct (+ April) is NO’s best month.
Watching the progress is almost like “pulling for” a child….you just want it to work/be OK. Very emotional. Thanks for asking. It is taking a while to recover: so much to plan/work to get away, then alot to catch up. And so it goes.
Thanks Kassandra, I needed to hear that. This has not been easy and I do neglect myself a lot to take care of everybody else. But…that’s out for a while. I’ll look into the vitamins, that’s a good idea and I hadn’t thought about that.
I love the water and I was thinking about taking a drive by the water and just sit and listen to some music for a while.
Oh, at first I thought you said trying to resist a sir friend. I was thinking, oh, you go girl. Don’t resist, go for it.
Oh, well.
I’ve never been there. I’ve hardly traveled at all. I guess that’s a regret I feel.
Thanks….how interesting. Im retirement age with no plans to retire…there is always some “next thing”, whatever shape that is.
You know, a few weeks ago, I went through that “makeover” project.
I have had this very dramatic experience of the impact of looks..It has
truly been a shock..Not having gray hair = being treated differently.
What an eye-opener.
So glad you’re treating that seriously DeVeria, and staying off it. Yes, I have had experience with it in family, and hope you will be much better soon.
Rainbows are nice, but have had enough rain, thanks.
If you’re going to do vitamin/mineral supplements be sure to get them at a natural foods place. One thing one of the holistic MDs in the area harps on is that commercial multivitamin supplements, e.g., Centrum, are a waste of money. I use a food based multivitamin supplement, 4 capsules/day, Omega 3 supplement, 2-4 a day, 1000mg Vitamin C for good measure and an aspirin to ward off stroke. Check with a holistic MD for what you really need.
Just turned 65, and have been doing things now that I realize I may not be able to do much longer. Of course, retiring made it possible. Wildlife photography camping trip in FL is one of several upcoming events; hope when I’m out there and not posting here you will all remember I won’t be able to do these things forever, it’s now or not at all.
LOL. Having long silver hair I get treated differently all the time. *g*
One of the consequences of living like I have is I’ll prolly have to work until I drop, unless I hit the Lotto. Wish in one hand…. I can live with that.
Sounds georgeous….
Thanks…I’m trying
Chose a very low dollar threshold, paid off my basics and now can use every penny for the life instead of maintenance. Not everyone would be comfy in my country shack style.
will do, thanks
Let your freak flag fly, dragon.
Half a century ago, as a freshman history major, I had to read The Uses of History, by A.L. Rowse. Rowse was a British historian and Shakespeare scholar. He was an imperialist, white man’s burden type, from a different era, but he made some really interesting points. One of them, like Charlie Wilson’s efforts in Afghanistan, pointed out that often effective policies at one time ultimately result in consequences exactly the opposite of those intended. His example was Cardinal Richeleau’s successful efforts to keep German states weak and divided. A century later, the weakness and division of the German states allowed one of them, Prussia, to rapidly unify Germany and threaten France for centuries.
Sounds great to me. But, hell, I still enjoy tent camping. It’s a good thing I like the basics. Like flute playing and reading, right SD?
You just may be the old hippiest of all the old hippies here. /s And I know what you mean about the long silver hair and being treated differently.
Good morning all. Do take DeVeria.
Someone said that regrets were mostly for what you didn’t do.
Reminds me of another saying: “Never let your fear of failure exceed your fear of regret.”
mornin’ all.
Rediscovered tent camping this summer, and went to my first outdoor music festival. Lots of discoveries involved. Like: It’s about time I got off my duff and did things that will not be possible forever.
Not having
grayhair = being treated differently.just an adjustment to make it my own, ya know.
Morning, Jayt,
Your comment reminded me of this Marianne Williamson quote:
“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”
What do you think of them apples?
Good Morning everyone. Chilly here in CNY. Last night the family went to a Stevie Wonder concert. Awesome.
True, but then it also depends on how well we take care of ourselves. After years of sore hips from too much walking and a sore back from leaning over the fire pit, we recently went beach camping after I’d been working out at the gym for 6 months. Guess what? No soreness. Ta Da.
Good morning Lakers! Glad to hear you are feeling better, and so sorry to hear about Kobe. My escape is college football, which I will start watching at around 1030 (pregame) until I fall asleep tonight. Main event is my Wolverines against Penn State at 330. Go Blue!
However, the traditional Southern girl was brought up to avoid such showy ways, and most especially the limelight. It takes a lifetime to get over an upbringing.
G’morning…I will
We wimmin do that…self sacrifice..until it puts us on the floor! Time for a little selfishness, my friend.
I also use homeopathic adrenal support for all sorts of things as I am in constant physical stress..and emotional from time to time.
The adrenals are the little glands on top of the kidneys which no doctor will EVER think of and they are IMPORTANT!!!!!!. they produce all our natural cortico-steroids for inflammation and other hormones and the “fight or flight” adrenaline.
They were NOT designed for the stress of modern life, I’ll tell ya THAT!
So, the docs never think of them.
It’s my frank belief that most Americans are walking around with a moderate to severe case of scurvy due to a deficiency of Vit C. that’s why so many people’s teeth are falling out…it attacks the gums first. I take one, up to 5 grams of Vit C a day. Dr.Linus Pauling, the Nobel Laureate cured cancer with 10 grams of C a day!!!! (Everybody pooh poohed it, I wonder why?)It’s easy if you get the powdered crystals. Excellent for the vasular system.
And despite all the scare tactics around Vit A, it’s a natural antibiotic and responsible for the production of the epithelial cells in the body: skin, organ linings ie lungs, stomach. It’s really worth studying up on nutrition. I got my program from Adele Davis’s books…there’s some reading for ya!
big PHrMA does not want US to be healthy, nor of course, do the insurance corporations so they spread that nutrition is BS and people die because of it. Sometimes I feel like a cow in a feedlot!
There’s no way we can get all our nutritional needs met from what’s grown on our depleted soil, ever since WWII and the advent of chemical fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides.
We’ve killed the soil all over the world and the piper is coming to play his tune. or the chickens are coming home to roost, can’t figure out which, maybe both.
You’re welcome and good luck!!!!
Delighted to hear it. And work in the garden also helps.
Time now that I got some things underway that don’t allow me to stay at the computer, thanks for good company.
YES!
I know it prolly sounds strange but after surviving 3 years in Nam I came away with the idea that the “traditional” American lifestyle was not for me. As a kid, and hugely reinforced by a high school history teacher, I wanted to experience the world I’d heard so much about. With a few notable exceptions I think I accomplished that. My biggest regret is not having visited the Forbidden City in Beijing. For a number of years after leaving the Navy my passport was restricted due to my nuclear weapons design knowledge. They don’t do that any more. Figures.
Sounds good
Mrsa? There was big issue with mrsa here on Long Island a couple years ago. It seems they found it on te astroturf football feilds and kids were picking it up when they got minor abrasions playing sports.
Lots of feild were replaced outright. Some have a compination of super streght bleach and steam cleaning. Some schools, I think, suspended their football programs.
It was all you heard about at PTA meetings in pediatricians waiting rooms. Evey scraped knee became a couse for panic.
It was great for Neosporin’s business, though. So sorry to hear that you have it. Be very vigilent until it is comepletly gone.
Whoa. Heavy duty and so true.
I’m going to have to start working out once I get through this…
Well, I need to get both of those…because my vascular system is out of wack and a natural antibiotic…who can say no to that? Any recommendations on any brands?
Have a great one!
Good Morning DeVeria ,glad to see you’re back . Don’t mess with MRSA ,it’s one hell of a bug !!
45 degrees and raining in central Mass I think I’ll take Ecahns idea and read some today
I will
I’ve found that out. It has me down and that’s saying something!
Yes, it does, but it’s never too late. I’m not from the South, but my mother always put me down and encouraged me to hide anything that was a strength. Puritan Ethics to the max.
But, on the other hand, she sang This little light of mine. Made me very confused.
me like !
In the same vein, I read a Lancet article a couple years back about how honey–regular treated honey is as effective a broad spectrum antibiotic as the pink bubble gum stuff they give to kids.
So when the kids are sick, I have them take a tablespoon of honey along with whatever the Dr prescribed and it seems to boost the effectiveness of the storebought antibiotics.
My daughter has talent for coming down with things that cause a fever, etc, but don’t seem too serious right after the dr’s office shuts down for a couple days. So, I feel like a jerk asking him to come in special to exam her and write a script.
On this occassions, I have the offspring take a tablespoon of honey every 2-4 hours. A couple of times, she recovered or imp[roved so much with the 2-3 window, that we decided to skip the doctor and the prescription anti biotics altogether.
I try NOT to ask for prescrition anti biotics unless we are REALLY not getting better on our own, b/c of fear of helping to make more super bugs.
Bottom line, if you don’t have any other issue that would proghibit it, consider adding regular doses of honey to your regimen. The least tampered with the better. There seems to be some added Ommpff in the kind with a bit of wax and pollen and bee poop in it.:-)
if you want a quick fun break, cartalk followed by wait, wait starts at 10am est this morning. great for doing mindless chores on a saturday morning!
The Forbidden City is not a big wish – but Tierra del Fuego…
demi, it’s pro’ly not so bad, but I do think sometimes like “On the Waterfront” – ‘I coulda been a contender.’
and thanks, all
There is a gal at my gym who is 85! She’s very dedicated and comes every day. She’s a diabetic and says her doctor told her to work out 30 minutes every day. Some insurance plans pay for certain gyms. You might want to check into it not only for yourself but for your family.
It’s also a great stress reliever, boosts circulation, all kinds of goodies.
If I want to read during the Angels-Yankees and Gators-Mississippi State games I’ve got to get off my ass and get what needs to be done done. I’m waiting for the arrival of a book on the Soviets in Afghanistan by the Soviet general staff and feel like a kid waiting for his Commando Cody decoder ring. *g*
Be good to yourselves, and all other living things.
Namaste
Raised as a Catholic in Puritan New England
heavy doses of guilt ,anything that’s fun or feels good must be bad.
Bowing to you too, SD.
Yes, the law of unintended consequences through the centuries has never been known to take one day off.
Enjoy the day SD !!
the path to hell is paved with good intentions …no ?
Billy, go to Marianne Williamson’s Quotes on google. Print it. Put it on your refrigerator or the mirror you shave in. Read it every morning.
Fuck guilt.
are you sure I won’t get in trouble ?
I promise. I have it on very good authority.
ROFLMAO.
Here’s another way of looking at it. We have two trees in ourselves. Feed the good tree. Starve the bad tree.
Just get the natural stuff. Vit A is cheap…so’s C if you do it with the natural crystals. They’re tart, so be prepared. I LOVE tart stuff, some people don’t.
I find that when folks need something really badly, it doesn’t taste so good to them at first. give it a couple weeks and you’ll be thirsting for it. If I were you , I’d do 5 grams a day for awhile. That’s a teaspoon dissolved in water. I mix it up and take drinks of it all day long when I’m sick to keep the levels up.
I get the Solary vit C powder as it mixes up better and is 5000 milligrams (5grams per teaspoon) Easy to absorb and makes me feel and look younger than I am….being a old hippie.
As much as I dislike Whole Foods store, they have the best natural vitamin selection, now that they ran Wild Oats out of the market.
Email me if you want and we’ll discuss this at length!
I hate to see people sick when it’s pretty easy to get well…er.
You have had your share of bad times. MRSA is very dangerous and please be careful. Take good care of yourself.
I deal with chronic pain. I find good books, no facts or figures allowed, just stories. I can lose myself in a good story.
DeVeria, I know a lot about MRSA. My brother has/had it. I’m his guardian. Feel free to email me for off-line discussion if you want to.
Yea, there is a hospital up the street that has a great water aerobics program…thats what I want to do.
deveriaf AT gmail DOT com
sounds good…i’m getting a little stir crazy in the house
please email me at deveriaf AT gmail DOT com
Good girl.
Got here way late, and just catching up. Fascinating, the rainbow thing. The day my mother died (in hospital), when I finally got outside to go home, walking to the parking ramp, the most exquisite rainbow appeared over the hospital. Ten years ago, and now I understand the rainbow. Very cool. Thanks.
My Mother has been doing water aerobics for some time now .
She has some disc degeneration in her lower spine (like myself) that limits her activity.
The water aerobics are a great way to get in or stay in shape ,especially for those of us getting on in years
MOD, do again at 94, please!
What sort of arenal support do you use/find? Suggestions, please. I alwsys test well on the thyroid thing, but I understand the standard is inadequate. Thanks.
Good Morning, DeVeria. Late to the party.
Please take care of yourself. Health is nothin’ to mess with. And the losses you’ve had add to the stress cortisol levels and will affect your recovery, also. Please do whatever you need to to comfort yourself.
I second the suggestions of Vitamins. I take 9 grams of Vit. C a day. You’ll want to add probiotics to help combat the nasty side effect of candida. Vitamin C will help that, too.
I love the rainbow–a personally uplifting sight. Thanks for posting the pic.
Thanks! I think I am finally realizing that it is time for me to take care of myself. And, that there is nothing wrong with that…
I rarely comment, but your infection has prompted me to offer some advise. Try to find a recommended homeopathic doctor. If that fails, use the North American Society of Homeopaths directory to find a registered practitioner in your area.
I have a recurring bacterial infection that resulted in about an inch of bone loss in my jaw. For several years I was on and off antibiotics and finally realized the infection was never really going away — just sort of going into remission. I now work with a homeopath and have successfully beaten back the infection through a combination of homeopathic remedies and herbal remedies.
You can try taking massive doses (say every 3 hours) of goldenseal tincture, and garlic tablets. It takes several days of dousing your system with herbs for them to take effect. After 3 or 4 days of this, cut back to 3-4 times a day for a couple weeks.
If you don’t have someplace in your area to buy these, iherb has excellent prices. I recommend Eclectic Institute Goldenseal tincture, or Gaia Herbs Goldenseal.
Healing light pouring out to you.
Thank you…others have recommended finding a homeopathic doctor. I’ll look into it.
I would add to the list of those recommending a visit to a good Homeopathic Doctor.
My field of expertise is yoga/meditation and together with a superb team of alternative Healers, treated a patient with severe Cellulitis/MRSA for which antibiotic wasn’t doing much.
I’ll e-mail you some info. if that’s okay.
sounds good…did you get my email address from above?
Yes’m … pls give Jane hugs from all of us … Kobe was a part of our lives too.
will do
One more thing. After you finish a round of antibiotics get a box of Topfer Eugalan Forte and use the entire box. Replenishes the flora in your intestines.
I’m going to look it up, but what’s that?
Good Morning DeVeria and Firedogs,
so sorry I missed the thread –
DeVeria, that is just an incredible load you are shouldering. found myself tearing up about Kobe just yesterday – one of those times where fate seems cruel in it’s capriciousness
MRSA is indeed scary stuff please take care of yourself.
when I begin to feel overwhelmed by my own circumstances – I say a prayer unto myself – “I am doing exactly what God wants me to do.” somehow always comforting.
looking forward to next Saturday’s PUAC – pray you have a good week
hugs and scritches for all the girls at your place
(Back–had to take doggie out. Doggie being a miniature schnauzer with more personality than her little body can handle.:)
She’s linked to a probiotic with Vitamins added. Probiotics are the good stuff in your intestines that help it function. Antibiotics kill them off, allowing candida to flourish…which you don’t want.
Hope you are mending in body and spirit, DeVeria. Please give my best to Jane. Thinking about you guys.
Antibiotics kill off good bacteria along with the bad stuff, including those in the Digestive system that breaks down food and allows the nutrients to be absorbed into the body.
That product and other “probiotics” help to replenish the body with good bacteria. Your Homeopath or Natural Health expert can guide you more.
Wow, how cool. Wish I could have told you that ten years ago when you needed it most, but better late than never.
okay, off to read…
what boogiecheck at #111 said. From the link at vitacost:
Thanks. We are coping, it has been hard, but I am a firm believer on He won’t put more on you than you can bear…this too will pass.
gotcha
Thanks for all of your support!
Enjoy! I just found out that I’m going to lunch!
Hi DeVeria and all. I’m sure many of you as children remember the “staph infection” that invaded hospitals back in the 1950s. My baby born 1957 and I were victims of that. It manifested as boils which appeared on my baby’s head and my vaginal area about a week after leaving the hospital. It was resistant to penicillin (the later antibiotics not yet created.) Our doctor was a very wise and intelligent man. He cured us with sulpher drugs and neosporin. We never had a recurrence even though the staph germ is said to lie dormant for an unlimited time. I don’t know if that is the same as MRSA.
I discovered an amazing natural cure for bladder infection a few years back. I was then into herb gardening and had a few plants of fennel. I was prone to bladder infections, but did not study the eliminations of my body. One Friday about evening (doctor’s office long closed) I noticed ‘tomato juice’ in the commode. I had read up on herbs for healing, so went to the garden, cut some fern-like stalks all the way to the base which I steeped in boiled water (like tea). To a glass of this tea I added a strong slug of red vinegar and near drowned myself all week-end. Wah-Lah!! come Monday morning there was no hint of pink in the commode. No doctor visit, no Rx script, no antibiotics — all for about $.15 (that’s cents).
I figure if fennel is that strong against bladder infections, it must be pretty darn good at fighting many kinds of infections. It’s a beautiful, graceful fern-like plant which could be grown in pots. As I recall it was self perpetuating as I had it return year after year. BTW, garden pests did not bother it at all.
I hope this suggestion helps, and may you be fully recovered from that infection soon.
I go to the doctor on Tuesday and I’m going to ask him about sulfur then…when I’m finished with the IV, I still want to be on something for a while.
DeVeria, I’m sorry to hear about your MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus)infection. It’s a bad bug not only because it’s cannabalistic, but because it resists normal antibiotics that are available. Fortunately most hospitals check for this immediately when you arrive with a previously unknown infection or lesion. I think it is the law in Canada now.
eCAHN, there is a fiction novel, The Ghost War, written by a guy by the name of Berenson, that covers the same subject. FYI
Also, the Sulfa drugs come from an antibacterial group that are Sulfonamide group based. Not Sulphur or Sulfur, which is a totally different thing.
Good. I hope your doctor doesn’t consider it too old-fashioned to administer. In 1978, 20 years after the staph infections related above, I was ‘gifted’ with a very ugly bacterial infection which only sulphur would cure. Fortunately an older doctor knew the properties of sulphur and that the particular germ would not respond to any of the ‘cillins’. One round cured me. I hope you are as fortunate.
Thanks karnak12! I’m a southerner and thought the word “sulfa” was just our way of pronouncing it. Never too late to learn, heh, heh. Thanks again.
lol – that’s pretty funny, but I can see how you might think that. Never thought of it that way.
I surely hope DeVeria reads your comments before her doctor visit! Lordy, how could I have been so ‘ignurnt’?
Here’s the wiki link on the sulfa drugs. (something I should have read a long time ago, heh, heh)
Oh and be sure to take lots of acidophilus after and maybe during treatment with antibiotics, they kill all the beneficial bacteria too, you know and you can get pretty sick form an imbalance of the right bacteria in your gut.
Good luck…I’m off!
