All of these events (such as the use of electronic jamming) have been reported in reputable news outlets, although mostly in Spanish. You can find them, with links, in over 100 (!) posts on the coup at Mercury Rising.

How did reporters get into the Brazilian embassy? Well, when Zelaya arrived, it was a surprise to the coup. Roughly three hundred people entered the Brazilian embassy, including reporters like Adrian Sivori of TeleSur. She stayed in the embassy until recently, when she said that the stress was damaging her health. The dictatorship refused to let any reporter replace her.

For the first days, the dictatorship did not block entry, so reporting was done fairly openly. Then the dictatorship started very nasty tactics, including throwing tear gas canisters into the embassy. A number of people, including Sivori reported symptoms such as epistaxis (bloody nose) and bloody urine.

There are still a few reporters in there, including Edgard Garrido of Reuters. To get the audio out, they use that technological marvel, the cell phone. Once they figured out how cell phones were being jammed, they removed the jammer, you see. You can even see a photo of the jamming device here.

It is a flaming falsehood that Zelaya was trying to circumvent the Constitution in any way. If you don’t mind taking your fingers out of your … ears, you can read what actually happened here, as described by a Constitutional scholar who had a front row seat on events leading up to the coup.

It is an ignorant falsehood that the US has cut off all monies. Money continues to flow, though not as much. But how long did it take for the Obama Administration to do that? Many months, whereas it was legally obligated to do so immediately. And they have done so only because the rest of the hemisphere has forced them to do so. American leadership is in the toilet, everyone who reads Spanish believes that elements of the US government covertly supported the coup, and it’s a hell of a mess.

Why do people think the US may have backed the coup? Because after Zelaya was kidnapped, he was flown out through a US air base, Soto Cano (called Palmerola by Hondurans). If you can read Spanish, and are willing to encounter ideas that don’t meet your preconceptions, you can read that story in Tiempo, one of Honduras’s main newspapers. They interviewed the base commander, and he says it happened, even though he denies knowing about it. Our State Department very cautiously admitted that Zelaya was flown through Soto Cano.

See how wonderfully different the world looks if you are willing to listen as well as state completely ignorant opinions?
