The Rolling Stones – Midnight Rambler (live Atlantic City 1989).
What’s on your mind?

er….zed.
Hey Suz!!!!!
A lovely California evening……cool and ocean-scented. Nice.
hey mary
hey dearie
rain in my forecast and it was foggy all day today
Lordy, Suz, what a choice song
sweetness
Lively and interesting discussions this evening on health care. In Suzanne-Mode, I’m still for everyone into the pool….capture all the money we are paying, regulate, hire the line workers to handle the paperwork, regulate some more. Losers: the greedsters who skim the millions off the top!
thanks e the e — i love the way he dances and pouts and acts out the song….
I think the country is swinging back to rational thought. We need a special jail for the banksters.a big one.
Whosa gonna putem there?
got one empty out in sf bay iirc mary
how’s sac tonight?
hey ecahn — how’s the hudson valley tonight?
me, goddamnit.
Sac is fair to middling with bees and hummingbirds all round about.
i’ve only seen one hummingbird in the past month — they’ve all headed south. still have some bees around tho. not as many but then not as much stuff in flower now.
I was glad to see Jane writing again today. She is truly remarkable. We’re lucky to have found such a place to hang out. Makes me glad.
We are seeing the end of a season and, then, halloween!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope it gets cooler out.
medicare for all if not single payer is my goal.
Still Indian summer. Waiting for the 20 degree temp drop.
i’m ready for cooler. am not ready for cold yet. hope to build up to it getting used to cooler first.
due any day or overdue?
Good luck.
Within the next couple of hours, according to the official forecast.
I had the afternoon off, and headed out to Penzy’s for new spices. The drive was beautiful, the foliage just wonderful! Hiya All!
I am trying really hard to stay up but just can’t . See you all tomorrow. perhaps later tonite. Chow.
hey ce
oooooooooo what did ya get?
There is only one Mick
Saw him and his crew in Boston, he even splashed water on me — we were in the third row. JC (who never misses a concert) knew that Stevie Wonder’s set went on and on too long, he knew something was amiss.
1972! I would have thought it was 1982. *sigh* ages ago either way.
Sad to say, they really weren’t much in the mood to perform by the time they hit the stage.
sweet
cramped tho it may be.
Political pumpkin stencils reposted fyi.
Three new chili powders!!! And black pepper…
Penzy’s!…..haven’t thought of spices for a while. ‘Tis the season!
g’nite mary mcc
We have a new store, and it is heaven. All recipe talk, sniffing like fine wine.

Citizen Suzanne:
Yes indeed, Medicare Plus Part “E” (for “everyone”)…and implement it immediately and reduce the FICA tax by 1.5% and take the cap off and make everyone pay for it. Sunset the Bush tax cuts and raise the rates on those over 250,000 per year to those at the end of Eisenhower in 1960. Reinstate anti-trust and securities and exchange laws to those of 1940 and reinstate Glass-Steigel…and frame it all as a return to the “good old days”.
hey norske — health care is a basic human right.
Citizen Suzanne:
Yes indeed and so is a living wage, a job and equal protection under law.
Yes. Those who whine about people expecting ‘free’ medical care are incredibly disingenuous (i.e., liars!.) I’ll pay my fair share for Medicare coverage….just let me buy in early! And pay the primary doctors fairly. It isn’t rocket science.
Official migration notes for this week from Hawk Mountain.
I love the little kinglets
I saw photos last year of East 79th and super scary Halloween decorations (via MSCE photos). New York looks fab for the season.
all part of the fight to set things right after boosh and the corporate bastoids of the universe years.
you speak for us all, Dearie
Wasn’t that the best??? Thanks, Suz!
♪♫♪♫
As I posted on another thread, as a young teacher, high school teachers got paid more than elementary teachers — as tho we were more important! Pay primary doctors, clean up the Medicare scams (i can tell you about how every oldster gets a motorized skooter on Medicare’s dime!) Get REAL!
eagles were spotted down the road a piece last week. now that the tourists have migrated, they are returning. still haven’t seen one.. yet.
Agreed!
‘Tis grand. Nice to see you, Dearie!
hey loohoo — glad ya liked it — you enjoying your so cal evening?
Night All
g’nite ecahn
What a great story!
Suzanne,
I saw so many bald eagles in Welshpool, Campobello Island this August! One was sitting in the top of an evergreen at Customs, when we passed into Canada. He was huge, and awesome. I had never seen one so close.
i’d never seen a wild one until i moved into this place. they are magnificent!
Yes.
I’d love to stay, but we have a 9:00 “non-harassment” program tomorrow that is mandatory.
It’s beautiful here. Windows are open and just delightful. It was a bit warm before I opened them.
Nighters all.
i caught myself, while watching the video, wondering what kinda shoes he was wearing because they looked so comfortable.
see what happens when ya turn double nickle (laughing)
g’nite ce
sweet dreams, CAHN
Project Runway (okay, I admit it!) ending up on the West Coast. Last week I put up the Project Runway recap that some sassy writer puts up on HuffPost and a second post of the DirtyThirty on facebook. My daughter said, “Nice range…go, Mom.”
i drove up to jen’s dad’s house to pick her up one day (back when she was a teen) and had ‘big pimpin’ blaring on the kick ass stereo i had in the car. she was mortified that what she thought was a friend coming to see her was her mother bumpin down the street.
big pimpin
YOW, it’s the STONES!~
I was getting all nice and sleepytime but that was short-lived. I am Not Complaining. I’m headbanging.;)
laughing — hey margot — was wondering where ya were. thought of you when i picked this one — didn’t think you would give it the headbanging seal of approval tho :)
Stones still rock, even now…but Keith and Ronnie look like cadavers now.
hey that guy — how ya doing dood?
LOLz
ahh, the pain of the reality of the ‘rents
true dat
twas one of my prouder moments. not often ya get to head fake your teen yanno — gotta take advantage of it when ya can.
Data Point:

she jealous of queen snowe getting all the attention? dang marcos
I’d not seen it in writing in such stark terms before.
Then I blew my cover by mentioning that I’d been hanging out with the RZA with Colbert and someone else….”you know,” I told my daughter, “The Wu Tang Gang.” She cracked up and set me straight. But, yes, I think I will read The Tao of Wu.
Suze – I’ve been better. I wrote about it earlier in my email. I had hoped the contract would have led to better things, but I don’t know now, and the fear is somewhat paralyzing.
bloomberg is usually pretty reliable… all the attention whores are gonna be crawling outta the woodwork trying to get their time in the sun.
some things ya just gotta take on a day by day basis… or minute by minute… especially when it is a decision that is outta your control.
i’ve got my fingers and toes crossed for ya dood
Obviously the Democrats’ “political gonads in a vise” operator is slacking.
i’m sure hojo will appear on some news show any day now, waffling about his vote is his speciality yanno.
that guy — they know you are good — they hired ya! it will happen when it is meant to happen and worrying about it won’t change that fact at all.
Evening chums!
Warm here for the last couple of days. Rain, then temp drops forecast.
Suz is your dental appt tomorrow?
hey sunny — sure is. my landlady is gonna drive me again.
That’s great (the landlady part). I’m sure things will go well – glad you’ve got soup.
I’m in the market for some replacement teeth. Been thinking about the Mexican dentist Loo Hoo recommended some time back. Would be fun to put some of the teeth $$$ into a bit of travel.
i was gonna go to the mexican dentist my mom recommended but…. the rules changed that ya need a passport and my teeth had gotten to the point where i needed to do something now. my passport finally arrived last month after i provided the names and addresses of every family member, the address of every place i’ve ever lived, when and where for every job i ever had, and 5 expired pieces of identification that were expired at least 5 years.
i think i’m on a list :)
dr a said that what he does will not interfere with going to mexico and getting implants.
ThatGuy,
The several times that I really really needed a job, it just went on so long, I gave up. I figured that if they were going to call they already would have, so I just mentally scratched them off my list.
Then, they both called the same day. This has happened twice, 20 years apart. Really odd, but there it is.
here ya go margot… this will get your head banging going again… stones atlantic city 89
Five expired IDs! Knew they were messing with you, but that is a shocker. May be time to stop picking on those guys in the van. /s
luckily, i got ahold of the chief’s secretary at my old dept — she snagged my personnel file and it had all kinda stuff in it from when i was testing and got hired in 1980 in addition to old copies of drivers licenses etc. she sent me copies.
i made sure i included the addresses of all the navy housing i lived in as a kid. my mom was a big help with that.
and the forkers in the van don’t get a single snack from me again until they stop being peeping toms.
That’s Big Pimpin honey, but don’t find it now, I am going to try to wind down.
this help?
and for the bad link at 89, this one will be waiting for ya in the morning
For your new Pablo Picasso smile…
thanks person — that is forking kewl!!!
I’m facing the D-man too. I’m going to see if he’ll give me a prescription for something useful. None of that pharma crap…
i was surprised how much better i felt after some of those problem teeth were pulled. i’m looking forward to getting rid of the rest and getting my new ones.
Breathing is important while in the chair. I work towards a count of 8 in, 8 out, although to start I can barely make it to five.
a rolled up national geographic magazine is my fav dental accessory. hard to tear, the binding can handle the twisting and bending without breaking. i do use a lotta the same deep breathing lessons i learned in childbirth and the nat geo gives my hands something to do
The assistants think I’m nuts — “he’s in his happy place now Doctor…”
Where are the ice chips when you need them?!
All about building data bases/profiling these days :-( At least your profile is prolly looking really good.
My then Rep got my (expired) passport renewal turned around in less than three weeks. Hated the man, loved his constituent services. Charged me the normal fees, plus 2 Fed Xs – great bargain. Wanted my dates of travel and indicated that if it was an emergency they could move faster.
Dunno if all reps have this service.
dang sunny. if i had a trip planned i wudda been on the phone to my reps. i’d never had a passport before so i figured there would be some delay but sure didn’t count on the fat envelope filled with forms — when i got it i was all excited thinking it was my passport.
having the proper headspace makes dental work much easier to handle. of course if you have a dentist that asked ya questions while working on your mouth… as my former dentist did… made it kinda hard.
Wow!
Bwagh du gu meen ey gob a cabidy? Ey flozz raygurlee an bwruz ebry daa!
i don’t know how he understood me — that’s exactly what i sounded like to my ears.
Like that eh? This next one is dedicated to GovWannabe Chris Christie
Let’s have a war!

emerson — dood, how ya doing? how’s the east bay tonight?
Would be interesting to know the percentage of applicants who got that treatment. Kinda smells like one of those perpetual, not so subtle reminders about what dangerous times these are.
Seems we’ve had fewer of those lately. Hope it’s a change in policy coming from the top.
Where in mexico is your mom’s dentist? I’m not looking for surgery, just appliances. But appearance and fit matter, so it’s pretty high level skill. Some of the worst dentures I’ve seen were on US Generals testifying on C-SPAN. Kinda surprising.
i can ask her. it was a dentist a buncha folks she knew used. she was living in palm springs at the time — she moved to arizona a few months ago. one guy she knew was quoted 27k for full mouth implants by his regular dentist and got them for 5k and said he was treated like a king by the dentist and staff. she heard the same from others.
they were all real estate agents and fit and appearance mattered, especially in palm springs.
Getting ready to taste some cab, saturday. My nephew and his dad will be playing guitar and singing here.
http://www.truchardvineyards.com/events/index.htm
that looks like fun emerson. how cool that your kin are doing the music for the release party.
That is a serious saving. Guess my fantasy would be to find a pro dentist near a lovely beach in an inexpensive location.
If we could find that, mebbe we could organize an FDL field trip *g*
Yeah, they’re both excellent. Sean (nephew) is hot on electric and Mark plays everything you and Larue like.
The wine is really good and the winemakers are wonderful people.
*laughing* it could be our backup plan in case a robust public health plan doesn’t include dental. a lotta folks go to hungary for dental work. my mom had an emergency root canal done when visiting there and it was something like 75.00. she thought it was a temporary fix went to her dds when they got home who pronounced the work completely done to perfection. hungary has developed a large medical tourist industry — as have other countries. cheaper to fly there and get the work done than to get it done here.
Sounds wonderful! Have fun.
i like electric — i like most music — not to fond of opera but then… there is always the bug bunny operas to serve as the exception to the rule :)
thanks, Sunny! I’ll stay in Napa Saturday cuz Sunday is Mark’s birthday; and of course the continuation of Suzanne’s month long b-day party. *g*
Birthdays mean all-day live music. Sometimes we go through most of the Beatles Anthology. But lots of Dead, Allmans, etc mixed in.
“…kill da wabbit, kill da wabbit…”

Hey, you’re always invited, ya know! Maybe we can record it one day. Tough to get good sound.
and the barber
Didn’t know that about Hungary. Never ceases to amaze me folks spouting off about our having the best medical care in the world. For some, perhaps. Exceptionalism seems to be a litmus test of patriotism.
wiki on medical tourism
i have a voice made for the shower dood
LOL-I remember that one!
Oh yeah, I’d forgotten about the suz birthday season festival *g*
iirc kill da rabbit was the first cartoon i posted for late late nite
seeing the dentist during festival season sucks but… what’s a gal to do….
I thought you posted that when I first got here, around February? How long you been doing the LLN?
oh geez… let me think… it was december… 06 or 07??? would have to search through the archives to find my first one
twas december 1, 2007
edit. Gotta worry about that lost revenue. Maybe we’ll ban it in the interests of protecting our citizens.
That’s alot of Saturday nights, Suz.

i was surprised when i found out how prevalent medical and dental tourism is. i had never heard of it until mom started talking about it several years ago.
I just looked for the video at FDL. Larue posted it back in 2008, but that one’s been removed at the request of Warner Bros.
tues, thurs, sat and alternating sun nites. yeah, i’m constantly having to search fdl archives trying to avoid double posting songs or toons.
hey cujo — it was the snl performance iirc
whoops — were you were talking about what’s opera doc?
Not the heavy metal version?
laughing….. not heard that one before cujo
what’s opera doc was my first cartoon – december 29 07 and warner brothers had the video pulled (luckily some time after my post published)
Neither had I, but there it was.
Love how they can milk profits from those things years after everyone who made them is dead.
That’s surprising. No idea it had been that long. Trex had that duty for awhile and before that it was a disorganized all night smörgåsbord.
That’s when I got hooked on FDL – late nights with folks in and out, no structure. A kind man, no longer here, spent hours one night trying to educate me about the expansion and contraction of money.
time flies. seems like i’ve only been doing this a short time — not almost 2 years. i really do enjoy looking for the videos to feature for everyone.
i like to think of it as ‘my job means i am supposed to be surfing the utubes’
Shoobity doo-whop-whop, say what, yeah…!
I remember Trex’s first post and his last. Well, not so much remember what they were, but how eager he was to show us the first one, and how sad he seemed to be at the last. It was a bit more free-form back then.
Who was it who was giving you the econ lessons?
i remember when he first got the keys to the blog during the first netroots nation. and before that him trexing the trolls.
the ole haloscan days — remember replying to comment name and time instead of the autobutton?
Yep. We were doing that here, for a time, too. I don’t remember how long ago it was when they got the reply thing working, but I liked it once I figured out what Javascript permissions were needed.
That was back in the tan FDL days, IIRC.
yup. blogspot even — before firedoglake dot com existed.
attaturk will be along in a few moments. i better head out — thanks for all the conversations tonight.
g’nite all.
Like here…?
Cujo, I’m blocked on his handle. Will prolly wake up in the middle of the night remembering :-). Oh, maybe I can figure it out. Be back.
I remember Trex’s posts well. So good to see him on the katymine thread.
Goodnight, Suzanne.
Yes, it was. I need to go check that thread again.
Good luck tomorrow Suzanne. G’nite folks.
Goodnight, emerson. Actually, it’s about time for me to hit the hay, too. Goodnight, all. (Sunny, I’ll check the thread tomorrow in case you remember.)
Nite suz. Check in with us tomorrow nite if you feel like it. k?
Like @157, More 2007 commentary on FDL…
It was montag.
165 was for you. I miss montag.
Early morning in Caleeefornia: ah, Mickey, Keef and da boyz. thanks for that bright spot. Wee-ell talk about the Midnight… !!!!!!!
May be posting to the void, but what’s on my mind? What the hell happened to my ggggeneration?? How the hell did we let the creeps and @ssholes and greedheads get in charge and mess things up sooooo badly?? Ugh. As a DFH forevah, it’s most disheartening.
I am so lucky in that my circumstances – financial, personal, emotional – are in reasonably good shape, but yeesh, not everyone is so fortunate as me.
How did we come to the point where being a greedy, nasty, cretinous, selfish, self-centered, judgemental, narcissitic, lying jerk is held up as the BEST that our society can be. Back in the day, there were a lot more of us who had some real values and cared about others.
Yeah, I know: a lot of the 60s/70s protests were attended by those who didn’t want to be drafted and didn’t want to go to war. Many were not necessarily all that liberal otherwise, by did ya ever think we’d sink this low this quickly? I speak, too, as someone who has long been a community organizer, has marched in what seems like 1000s of protests, constantly writes and calls my congressfarts and assemblyweenies.
Unreal the power of the dark machine.
Onwards and upwards into the light of day. Thanks for the memories of a younger Mick & Keef, albeit, not so young anymore in that video. The best dancing & strutting occurred in the 70′s. Rock on!
