A roadside bomb killed four Fort Carson soldiers in Afghanistan last week, pushing the number of casualties from the post to 12 this month, one of the deadliest months since fighting began there in 2001.
The soldiers killed Thursday in Kandahar province were assigned to patrol routes to find and destroy bombs, according to the Department of Defense.
They were identified Monday as 34-year-old Staff Sgt. Glen H. Stivison Jr. of Blairsville, Pa.; 28-year-old Spec. Jesus O. Flores of La Mirada, Calif.; 33-year-old Spec. Daniel C. Lawson of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; and 19-year-old Pfc. Brandon M. Styer of Lancaster, Pa.

Interesting, the interview has no focus on the language of humanitarian aid and sustainable economic development as a strategy. Any expert out there would state these elements are the highest priority in the region.
The language “more troops” is a mistake if you are not focused on economic development. Thus, I can only conclude this is about oil again, not safety from terrorists.

I’ve decided I’m writing in my own name for Virginia Governor. I’m just NOT voting for the lesser of two evils anymore, and Creigh Deeds was the bluest of the Blue Dogs that ran in the primary. I couldn’t support McCauliffe cause I wouldn’t trust that guy as far as I could throw a tank, so I got as enthusiastic as I could for Moran.
And of course he lost. (My guy ALWAYS loses in the primary, effin state I live in). So, I’ve resigned myself to the fact that we may get one of the most right wing, in fact wingnut, Governors in the nation and I’m ok with it. If the Democrats want my vote, nominate and run a real Democrat.
Well, I lived in VA until I joined the Navy so maybe I can sneak in and vote. Lemme see if I can find a number for Diebold. They should be able to fix me up. *g*
