Wrong target – collateral damage! The non-profits and foundations such as Susan Komen breast cancer, et al, are not your/our enemy.

Our enemy is private health insurers (sic) because they have medical loss rates that are a crime against humanity. Why should we pay 20-30% vigorish to insurance firms?

Rachael is one smart woman. Someone (M Moore?) mentioned we ought to boycott the health industry but if we stopped paying our premiums that’s when we would probably need our insurance. I was watching CNN talking about breast cancer donations right now and was thinking maybe we should boycott donating to Cancer, alzheimer, etc, organizations/foundations. Are they the very industry fighting the public option? What do you think?

it seams to me rachael is informing constituents what is possible and she is laying the ground work for unseating those people who might be responsible for doing corporate work rather then the people’s work

she laid down the guantlet right there and she is daring democrats who might have impeded the public option, she’s daring them because she’s gonna go after them and she’s telling them blogs will hold their office to account for what they do (and do not do)

it seems pretty clear rachael and or staff uses firedoglake as one of her sources and she is making certain we get traffic for the research that’s done here

Of course she has a good point.
The part she misses is what will actually be in the final bill that gets voted on. Unfortunately, that part of this game is being worked out far less democratically by Harry Reid, likely under direction from the WH. If by some miracle the final bill has a robust public option, I’ll be quite shocked, but also quite happy. The lack of a strong PO/govt run plan makes moving back to the US extremely risky for me as a I have a pre-existing condition.
