Early Show: Tiger Lillies “Circus”
Late Show: The Cinematics “Love and Terror”
What’s on your mind tonight?
Arf!
Hey Eureka!
Poodle Club, indeed.
hey, newt
neuro – long time.
i really like The Cinematics, ES
ES! Hi pups!
Poodles.
Evening, everyone.
hola margot!
Chris has me reviewing Rachel’s work from last night.
Epic.
Oh newt, big kisses!
Have you looked at Morbid Anatomy?
Back’atcha Chris.
This kind of bravery needs to be seen.
And finally some people from the Left have taken it upon themselves to call out the miscreants.
Grayson has always been there, as has Keith. It is Rachel’s time.
And think about this – Al Franken is a United states senator.
Wow, cool stuff.
You have something to do with this?
My good friend…
Another reason to be glad you didn’t vote for John McCain.
And MrCE…
Evening es and pups.
Hi Sunny!
Wow! Christine, you’re blowing my mind!
Good for you and Mr. CE.
When I saw the picture of the office – this is going to sound strange – of the office furniture, I got a flash of a lushly-appointed psychiatrists office from Woody Allen movie.
I get that from it too, but I get a Rosemary’s Baby vibe. Brrr.
I hope Jane’s had more luck finding inspirational veterinary miracle stories than I’ve had finding Muslim supervillains.
Test.
Ok.
*G*
All’s good.
Evening ES, various assorted Pups . . .
Yes, yes it is!
And you, Loo Hoo?
I was just thinking about reducing bones for turkey soup, and there you are.
Celery – in with the bones, or later?
ES, for SOME wierd reason, Tiger Lilies tune reminded me of old King Crimson . . . wierd linkage, huh?
Hi, everybody!
Will you forgive me if I mention that I’ve just posted my very first-ever diary?
This is the link, – I apologize, it’s not music or fun, it’s about
“Judge Willliam Wayne Justice, R.I.P.”:
http://seminal.firedoglake.com/diary/9997
Really, I gathered up the nerve because when I read the news, I felt an urge to go read what Christy had to say about him…then realized somebody else would have to step up.
Okay, now we return to your regulary scheduled Friday night music and fun.
Well, for making stock, for soups, I’d ALWAYS use the trinity of onion, celery, and carrot.
Lots of garlic, too!
And then, depending on the soup ya wanna make, well, after straining the stock out, I’d put the trinity in most any broth based soup I make.
For a twist on your turkey soup, use celery root cut in cubes instead of celery stalk!
Hope that helps?
Got it. In with the bones.
Thanks.
What’s been going on at MSNBC that makes them want to do this all of a sudden? It’s not as though they’ve suddenly had an epiphany about doing journalism right.
Aww, ES, I just caught the title of your LLN post. That’s nice.
How did you all get from musical groups I’ve never heard of to down-homey soup recipes?
But they did hire Rachel, and I really think she’s a principled person; she’s doing better journalism on many of her shows than Brian Williams, for example, has ever done in his life.
Great read, rec’d, and left a comment.
Dude was a HOSS of hosses!
Thanks!
I sorta get the kind of reaction outta folks when I show up.
Beats gettin OTHER reactions, like certain raised digits!!!
lol
Doing fine, thanks. Just fascinated with the lightening speed Obama and the Dems (rock group) are bolting change.
I won’t comment on Tweety or Ed, but give a camera to outraged people and unleash them, this is what you get. I guess.
Olbermann is Olbermann, and Maddow is simply unable to bullshit her way through a television contract. Her ratings must be huge.
Williams is an airhead. Maddow seems to get away with more than anyone else there, in terms of going after these folks. You have to figure at some point she’s going to be hitting a raw nerve at NBC/GE. The folks who run the media these days are a pretty small club.
Oh, and let’s not forget that most of them are Republican, at least in their sympathies.
BTW, wanna congratulate Greg Levine, David Dayen, The News Desk, Mz. Hamsher and all of FDL for the recent add on’s.
That News Desk is already a must click, and Mr. Dayen is the man to do it! Nice work, DDAY!!!
This place is hummin wit da change we can be. Lovin it.
*G*
You done proud.
Well, the PO, a VIBRANT one, seems to be in play, and almost a lock.
So, there’s THAT to hope for.
Now, we move to fin/bank reform.
And there’s already serious positive movement on THAT issue, despite the attempts by the ‘usual suspects’ fueled by corporate greed.
No time to get giddy, but hey, a glass of champagne might be in order before that next call to our cong crits!
*G*
Oh, thank you! Did you know about him? I’m not sure how many people outside the legal profession or the Southwest do. I did a research paper in law school on the immigrant children’s cases, before it reached (and was confirmed by) the Supreme Court, so I knew of him before I got here.
On edit: never mind my question – I just read your comments. Thanks, all of you…really glad I decided to write it; he was very important, indeed.
Recommended.
A rare guy.
And Rachel gets Gregory the best ratings he ever gets. Maybe she’ll take his spot…
NBC promoted the heck out of that show, and she delivered. IIRC, the Maddow-Armey faceoff was the prime point of that push.
Heh, you wanna see ratings and ad dollars?
Get MSNBC to partner Dylan Ratigan with Rachel once or twice a week.
And once or twice a week with KO.
THAT’ll get you ratings!
All in all, MSNBC is closer to the truth of our lives than any other place on TV.
That’s a GOOD thang! And it’s sellling ad dollars, too, I bet.
She really works hard and knows her stuff before she brings these crook on her show.
She’s so passionate, and it’s nice to see. Tweets gets passionate about political angles on things, and Keith shows passion (but it sometimes doesn’t ring true) He needs a new stage crew-that changing camera angle is cheesy. Rachel is the best.
Really? The ratings have been higher for Press the Meat when she’s on?
I mean, they should be..I even got up in time to see it those 2 times, but I hadn’t heard that. Kewl! If there’s any show that needs fresh (intelligent) blood, that’s it.
Ooh, missed that before. Good article.
The trouble (partly) with Tweety is that he forgets from day to day what he was passionate about last week or last year. I’m not sure he believes anything. It’s so clear that Rachel does, with passion and rationality. An attractive combination.
Maddow (Armey) & MTP ratings
I SO agree with that changing camera angle schmaltz.
NOT dramatic. Was, long ago, not now.
Good call!
Used to be the director called the shots, and camera changes.
Not sure who does now days.
Nor do I know if the producer(s) and the director and the host work together on the formatting of the show.
I’d sure like to know that info . . . any pups in the biz or know someone in the biz that could offer insight on who plots out the cam shots and changes?
Tejana, I put your diary on my Facebook page. Really good, and I didn’t know about him before now.
that changing camera angle is cheesy
A new director might be enough. TV shows never want to show a subject from the same location for very long. It quickly gets boring for many folks, I guess. The trick is to find interesting and useful ways to change the shot.
Oh, that is soooo cool! I bet they thought they were throwing her into the lion’s den with Coburn and Armey – but it turned out to be the briar patch, instead. heh, heh.
Oh, Margot, that is so nice of you. I’m trying to remember if there’s a bio of him, maybe from ten years ago or so…still, he’s one of those unsung heroes (unless you were a wingnut in Texas with hardon re one of his cases).
This is her MTP appearance a couple of weeks ago – they won again:
I know what you mean. Sometimes he seems left, like on the wars, and other times he seems so far right like when he praises Pat Buchanan.
Doesn’t feel like he has a real soul.
Sure enough, there is:
~~~ModNote: Reduced to TinyURL to preserve margins.~~~
Libraries might have it, if anyone’s interested.
Well, I guess I’m talking about when he does his special comments. It’s really distracting and ineffective imo.
I’m not sure he’s very smart.
Maybe in a couple of years we’ll see you on Rachel’s show talking about your book on Judge Justice. It could happen!
Oops…my apologies. I don’t know how to do the reduction to tinyurl thing. Thank you, Mod.
ROFL! Thx, tho’.
No problem at all. You will get the hang of it.
A little touch of Dali tonight.
Anyone have a good malware remover they want to name? I think my PC has a bug that my antivirus can’t detect.
Hey, how are you? Is your birdie still around?
Yep.
Those must be tough to stage. There aren’t normally any visuals – graphs, videos, etc., to break them up. Just a talking head going on and on about something.
I just think about these things. I must be one of the few folks who listen to director’s commentaries on DVDs. That plus having done theatre make it a reflex. It’s funny to listen to directors of the Stargate series going on about how they try to shoot scenes in the conference room – a potentially boring shot that’s seen repeatedly. They actually went to the trouble of putting different things up, and trying to figure out new angles to shoot from.
Anyway, some things are tough to breathe life into, and a guy just talking for five minutes qualifies if anything does.
Margot, you might want to try running Kaspersky. It’ll take a while. Be back in a minute with a link.
In copper :)
Check the current stuff in my nick link. Been gud! You?
I like the way Bill Moyers does it. No hoopla, just info.
Geez, look atthe time, y’all! Think it’s time for this viejita to hit the sack. G’nite!
Or, you can embed the link. First step is to gather up the link, then click on the link symbol, then type a description in between the less-than and greater-than signs.
Note that you’ll probably have to remove that “http://” thing in the blank. Usually, the URL will have it already.
It works for me, too, but that’s PBS.
oooo
Goodnight, tejanarusa.
Oops, seems Kaspersky is updating their online scanner. It’s not available.
nite tejanarusa
i’m going to scram too
wubi!
I’m looking forward to spring already.
niteall.
Nice work! ok here, but this is not my favorite time of year.
Goodnight, newt and Loo Hoo. I’m outta here, too. Goodnight.
lol! Didn’t see that until just now.
Thanks, fun getting some work on the walls. Glas to hear all is well.
Lol, same :)
Gn every1 :-)
Took a while to download. You’re so prolific. Must be a great house – fabulous woodwork!
Good morning. Anyone up?
Morning, eCAHN and all.
Another triumph for Larry Summers economic policies:
Harvard pays $500 million to bail out of toxic investment positions that Summers’ hand picked endowment chief locked into a few years ago.
Thanks for the link. Also from the article:
I wonder why Obama/Summers didn’t make sure Harvard got a bailout?
Good morning, pups. It’s Blow and Herbert today, as Ms. Collins is off. Mr. Blow is “Impatiently Waiting.” He says President Obama’s quixotic quest for bipartisanship and his administration’s lack of action has caused the fierce urgency of now to melt into the maddening wait for whenever. Mr. Herbert, in “Pricing the Kids Out,” says baseball was called the national pastime not only because it’s a great sport but because it was a sport that was affordable for nearly all American families. Alas, no more.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got French toast made with challah. I have a feeling that I’m going to be planting pansies in a chilly drizzle today. It’s gray and 49° now, and while the temperature will go up (I hope!) the gray seems to be planning on staying, with intermittent rain in the forecast. It’s perfect weather for slow-cooked pork loin and baked sweet potatoes, which are on the menu for this evening. Have a great day.
Dinner sounds yummy. Can I hold out my plate tonight?
PUAC is upstairs.
