Sweet dreams and best wishes for a great year.
I’m seeing reports that Iran Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei might have died on Wednesday after going into a coma on Monday. Is anyone else hearing such things?
Laura, what do you think the odds are that any Israeli will sit in the docket in the Hague for what they unleashed on the Palestinians… Namely the aerial bursts of Willie Pete over densely populated areas…? Slim to none…?
i heard something about this yesterday– put out by michael ladeen — just like he did a year ago.. or was it two years ago with the same story
and hey
Happy B-day to one and all.
thanks wigwam
Happy B’day Laura!!! Wanna go see Noami Klein at Sonoma State on the 28th?
There’s a chance? Not in this universe…
Tejana, Laura, Suzanne, happy triplet birthdays to you guys!

What time?
Are we talking about that Michael Ledeen? The fuckwad who wants to slam a small country up against the wall every so often and say “There, that was for nothing; now do something to piss us off.” That Michael Ledeen?
*waving* Hi Margot! Thanks for the laughs today.

What a fucking asshole!
I am not sure. It is in the evening I think.
Gerald Butler and Jimmy Fallon, singing. Birthday love all.

OMG, 3 firepups with the same birthday, what’s the odds on that?
Happy Birthday, Laura.
how’s ohio tonight ce?
The UN released it’s findings to the Security Council and it was very damning in it’s critique of Israeli actions… Even mentioned that ‘War Crimes’ were indeed committed, however, probably another UN finding swept under it’s vast carpet…!

Rainy, cold and just the most beautiful color show of trees. Wow, what a season! I’m sorry, the Jimmy Fallon Show makes MrCE and I laugh like crazy.
Wow, another B-day…! Happy Birthday, Laura…!
He was strongly implicated.
Once upon a time, I studied that ordeal a lot, via a friend who was one of the folks who broke the story. But I don’t think that even emptywheel ever really got the goods on him.
we don’t have much color yet… its a tree here and a tree there and looks like that is the way it is gonna be this year
and we all need to laugh ce — it makes us stronger for fighting again in the morning

I missed a LOT of stuff, that was on before 11pm or after 2am.
lol
Ever hit Alice’s up on Skyline Blvd, off of 92 south, to where it intersects with 84 from Woodside, CA?
A classic place, all the motocycles and day trippers would do breakfast there, or lunch.
There were a FEW interesting restaurants, up there on San Mateo’s Skyline Blvd, with great history.
Bella Vista.
Vista Del Mar.
Uncle John’s Cabin.
An area where Neil Young and his cohorts used to hang out.
I worked up there for a few years, off and on.
Never a sober moment, one way or the other, in them days.
But lots of happy customers . . . happy like we were! lol
a definite 10 on the kitn cuteness scale dood
g’nite mary mcc
Happy B-day, Suz!

Oh, great.
1st H1N1 flu death reported in my County. Then again, it’s a pretty populous county…
And the unemployment pencil-pushers wonder why I don’t show up for a 3-hr orientation when I know I’m getting something and probably quite contageous…and when I took the same dam orientation 4 months ago!
Sheesh.
FWDiva
g’nite and sweet birthday dreams laura
Aloha, Laura and Mary…!

Trying to recover from a nasty cold, complete with creeping crud.
Nice to see everyone, though.

Bay is good. I have been doing meditation. Tonight I signed up for 6 Color/Aromatherapy Chakra Yoga classes. Had to miss Water Systems Management tonight. Getting to enlightenment seems like a life long practice. But it is very thought provoking until you get there.
We got five inches of rain often in horizontal sheets really cleaned us up good plus free car wash. Junked two old vehicles one was part of the car buy back from APCD $800.00 and got my $250.00 ticket reduced to $25.00. Some good happening inside but the exterior world seems stuck on bad for now.
gotta take the good when ya find it bb — it helps hold the bad at bay. what kewl classes!
just a cameo, hon. Have a great time. This Glenfiddich is for you! (clink)
I always think of Victor Borg at birthdays; and pull the Clair De Lune gag when possible.

Heh, just watched the vid . . .
“Yes we’re goin to a party, party.”
Sigh, recall when that was our mantra AND theme song.
Out all night long till dawn after work, or before work.
Now?
Party don’t leave us, we leave party . . . ;-)
Mr. Borge was truly, A Great Dane.
solid bass beat and drum line and ya can dance to it
the good ole days *sigh*
Yeah, I still really, really miss them four, with all the voices and harmony’s.
From early days, thru all the middle stuff, to Rubber Soul, Revolver, and then Sgt. Peppers.
Mr. Moonlight.
Got To Get You Into My Life.
Lord, what voices and music they wrote and went thru.
Sigh.
the music of my youth — my first album, my first 45, my first record player. all beatles
Are we it, for now?
Dang, crowd cleared out faster than a losing Dodger’s game at old Chavez Regime, er, Ravine. *G*
Truly one of my fave Beatles songs. Always brings a big grin.
hahahahaha
fast as that eh?
You should be so lucky! I was hunting up some Abbey Road. Haven’t settled on a tune yet. :)
and then there are all those tunes to choose from on the white album
You’re not kiddin’!
Oh well. Think I’ll toddle off myself for now, too.
Catch up with all y’all later, ‘K?

How about for the Health Care Industry?
You Never Give Me Your Money
g’nite funny – hope you feel better soon and are back to your usual feisty self soon
You’ll flip.
My first stuff?
Santa Cruz, circa ‘63.
Neil Sedaka’s Alice In Wonderland.
Telstar.
Apache.
Lil Lil Lil Lilllllll Linda.
On my older sister’s 45 player.
Wish I’d never let that stuff go, but I was a kid, and we moved.
I was 10/11 at the time . . . *G*
Later, I started in again, at 15, buying records.
My sister had so many, and there was that transistor radio I had with an ear plug.
And I got a job, and had MONEY to buy records . . . and gas for a motor cycle.
lol
And girls.
*G*
i thought the bankers had dibbs on that song…. good choice kelly one of my favs
Adios Diva!
Yes, feel like a little I’m back in the USSR.
i found it ironic that the video up top was in red square…
twas my 5th grade birthday…. i remember it clear as a bell.. both meet the beatles and a hard days night albums and a beatles record player to play them on.
Yeah – good music is universal, anywhere in the world.
File this anecdote under “Don’t EVER take the brown acid.”
One late, late night after gigging back in the early ’80s, I’m sitting in my apartment with 2 friends, and we’re all stoopid, and listening to music, the White Album, which my friend Jay had brought on CD! It was NEW! It was on CD!
This crazy shit came on, and I swore it was Frank Zappa! I said, “Hey Jay, what the hell, you have a wild print! How’d they get Frank Zappa on this Beatles Album?
It took both my friends a while to convince me it was the Beatles “Honey Pie.”
rocky racoon
Eh, a mediocre effort, studio born, and lacking the cohesiveness and joy they had before.
They were not the band they used to be, and their individual musics had evolved so much, they really didn’t LIKE making music with each other, and it showed, IMHO.
I never liked the White Album, much, either . . . *G*
Post Peppers, and Yellow Sub, it was all downhill.
Hell, Peppers was already downhill, for them, to many extents, as a band.
As I loved them, as I loved what they had done. They were done after that.
wow, you were just a youngster. Werre the Beatles popular with the young-uns? I was a teen, I guess about 14 when Meet the Beatles came out.
blackbird
was always old for my age :) in 4th grade i remember sneaking outta bed to stand in the hallway and watch them on ed sullivan.
thankfully my bedtime was changed shortly thereafter.
yer blues
Well, it’s a crossroads thing for me. So many things happened at Abbey Road.
Alan Parsons engineered Dark Side of the Moon there. Syd Barret walked in on Pink Floyd while they were making “Wish You Were Here” which was tangentially at least about him.
The Beatles put the place on the map, and I don’t believe there are studios with more history or richness, less to say art and mega hits.
really? I thought Abbey Road was a little more experimental (maybe not as experimental as Sgt. Pepper), but less pop than what came before. Come Together was just great. And there was a kind of continuity to the songs on side 2.
I was one grade or maybe two ahead of yas.
My sister was forced to babysit me.
And she was not of driving age.
But if SHE went, I had to go!
We saw Hard Day’s Night 17 times.
After the first 5 times, my parent’s let me bicycle to the theatre without her.
*G*
Same with Help.
Can’t Buy Me Love.
Boys.
That one song . . . in Hard Day’s Night . . . I forget in the rail car, with Eric Clapton’s future wife (and George’s Wife) Patty Boyd in the watchers, that song rocked.
Early days were insane. As they begin to grow into the modes and modal stuff, and styles of writing songs, as well.
They were incredible students of theory, without a real classic background.
And song writing styles.
They stole for it all, early, too.
They stole from bluegrass, blues, and the black and blues artists.
And they learned and moved it forward.
Both soundtracks from their three movies are still killer.
KAILLLLLLIIIII!!!
“Go. To the WINDOW!”
Sigh.
Hey, it’s YOUR birthday!
Tell me more about your times at concert halls around the bay area in yer early time!
*G*
wasn’t that their first album on their apple records label? iirc, st peppers was columbia…
Out – gotta go night night.
So here’s The End
Cheers!
g’nite kelly — nice tripping down memory lane with ya thanks
Kelly, do you ever recall an older band from the late 60’s, from CO?
HP Lovecraft?
I believe it was their first Apple album. I pretty much wore that one out, still have the vinyl on a shelf down in the basement (plus most of the earlier ones).
i’ve got my old vinyl stored in the pod. the beatles, doors, and led zep were darn near grooved out by wear.
Would NEVER discount that.
Apple Records was great.
Alan Parsons!!! Alan Parson’s Project!
And he eng’d Year Of The Cat, still one of my fave early 70’s projects of all time. Al Stewart.
On The Spanish Border! Year Of The Cat!
But hoss, my point was about the Fab Four, and their disinterest in each other, as they moved along and apart, post Pepper’s.
After Peppers, they were broke, broken up, and it wasn’t cuz of Yoko . . . *G*
I remember them. I can only remember one hit song, Wayfaring Stranger, they did a cool rendition of that. I went out and bought the 45.
i don’t know what happened to my beatles record player but i still have all the vinyl. i guess it went where ever those beatles candlestick ticket stubs went.. and the hendrix at oakland arena…
Happy Birthday Suzanne. My favorite Beatles song “Maxwell’s silver hammer”. I don’t know why.
Yeah, I still have my vinyl stored too.
Sorry kids, I had to skip all the comments, I am still sick as a freakin’ dog going on two weeks but I HAD to stop and wish Suzanne Happy Birthday.
Many hugs to katymine too.
Cough cough, thud.
hey spocko — thanks. tis another fav of mine. its got such an upbeat pop tune and such deep dark lyrics sung ever so happily…
babe! thanks busted — i would give ya a smooch but…. you got cooties
g’thud dood
maxwell
Hmmm . . . appreciate what you say, I did find their pop music BEFORE to be of higher likeability to me, than what Abbey Road send down.
I was, and am, fond of good clean stuff, with harmony.
But I’ve become a real blue and new grass phreak, in the past two decades.
And my looks back at old rock tend to favor modal, minor, and harmony, as it did when I was a teen.
Funny, how that has come to me.
For instance, the first Jefferson Airplane, with Signe Toly Anderson, Marty Balin, Kantor, really still lite me up.
Old folk rock. And harmony’s with the gits and the vocals workin it, like old QMS, kill me, still.
And of course, for pure band performance and execution, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, and East West, are my guiding lights for rock and ensamble electric work.
But The Beatles? They WERE the one’s who introduced the modal concepts to pop and rock music.
They WERE the one’s who really nailed and forced the music industry to do 3 part harmonies, like bluegrass and new grass were doing at the time.
They were leaders. Even The Stones, had to follow them, before they broke out.
And I’m a HUGE Stones fan . . . start to finish!
Nice chattin with ya . . *G*
stones! midnight rider. sympathy for the devil. gimme shelter. the whole get yer ya ya’s out album. dood
Ooh-wee it’s an interesting nite up here tonite… First a Keck vehicle drove around the summit with it’s headlights on and left them on for like 5 mins. shining on UH’s dome and Gemini’s dome which prompted the Gemini guys to ask us over the radio what’s up… The UH crew actually retaliated by shining a 1 Mil. Candle flashlight on one of Keck’s domes…! That’s not all, either… NORAD contacted us and told us to keep a sharp eye out for a flight of B-52’s that are gonna do bombing runs over Pohakuloa Training Center which is situated in the saddle between Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa… Never a dull moment, eh…? ;-)
holy moly ct — busy indeed. you are not sharing anything that would get ya in trouble with TPTB are ya?

Hope you’ll feel better soon, Busted. Sounds like you’ve got some mean gombooey. Was at your blog earlier tonight and read about your adventure in laundry. Wuite an experience. I remember Grandma doing laudry by hand. Mom had an early electric washer with a hand-operated wringer. But the drying was all done on a clothesline.
b52’s
Thing is that they’re flying from far away, too… Hawaii has none based here… I’m thinking either from Guam or Alaska or even Diego Garcia…!

Ok Emerson, at about 2:50, when they show the piano player, tell me this.

;-)
dood – big ole shit eating grin on my face
dood i worked the dark side for 24 years…. ya gotta find a way to get that shit outta your system — mine was wtih music and sometimes the darker and louder the better
which song Larue?
Yep, it WAS better . . .
I was lucky, and saw Beatles twice at CowPalace.
Never heard a song, and I was pre teen so I’m not sure how lucky I was.
But, I DID see The Stones, at Civic Center, SF.
Can’t recall exactly WHAT year it was, but around mid to late 70’s.
I got to see the original band, with Ian Stewart on keys, a full horn section, and the original Mary What’s Her Name on Gimme Shelter. Clayton, Merry Clayton.
Mic out front, Keith, that kid Mic Taylor on git, Charlie on drums, and Bill Wyman on bass.
I THINK they also had Ian Stewart on other keys, too.
Greatest show I ever saw. Still.
From early Stone’s blues tunes, to Gimme Shelter, they kilt it.
I been a lucky boy, I haz. That was 35+ years or more ago . . lol
I knew I should have stopped by your place earlier, Suzanne. Happy Belated Birthday!
Heh, I saw the Stones in Boulder, CO. for the ‘Sticky Fingers’ tour in ‘81, ‘Steel Wheels’ in Foxboro, MA in ‘92, and, ‘Bridges to Babylon’ at Aloha Stadium in 2001…! ;-)
weren’t you also at the who show at the cow when moonie passed out?
hey cujo – still my b/day in hawaii :) thanks
For the next 2 and 1/2 hrs, even…! 8-P
If I Fell In Love With You.
I agree, it’s brutal to follow . . .
But it’s one of THOSE songs.
Damn they ONLY had about 200 or more of them, huh.
LOL
Btw, Happy B-day, US Navy…!
Ma’am.
I get it.
And I wasn’t a cop.
Don’t know how you did it all.
Tough times for the law.
A lot of us were against many forms of authority.
To have been on the side that met our anger . . . well, what can I say.
Hard times for you.
Now, we all got hard times.
And the authority killin us, is bigger than the one you ever worked for.
Shit happens.
Yer a friend, we’re all friends.
That’s a good thang.
Thanks. *G*
as a kid, i used to think the base was festooned for my b/day. boy was i disappointed when i found out the truth
Lucky Dude!!! *G*
as one who enforced the law equally, it totally pisses me off when these fucking assholes act as if they are above the law and for the most part get away with it.
Nope, my younger bro was though . . . I have always hated him for that . . . he saw a great moment in history, he did.
Hopkins , I think.
was trying to remember the connection my brain had between you and that story. your brother. duh.. as soon as i read it i remembered you saying that before.
to the dark side
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=STWSTgfMruc
I’m a big fan of Hopkins, from his work with Quicksilver Messenger Service, on their Shady Grove project.
Edward The Magic Shirt Grinder, primarily, on that album.
Nicki was great, played with everyone for decades.
A fine, fine keyboard man.
*G*
*head bopping* oh yeah
