But they keep playing their little game.
The Fox News coverage on Fox News continued this evening as Brit Hume appeared on his former show “Special Report” to deliver a commentary on the White House offensive against the network. Then it was Bill O’Reilly‘s turn.
In his Talking Points Commentary O’Reilly credited his “hard news” colleagues including Carl Cameron and Mike Emanuel who “simply tell you what’s going on.”
“Anchorman Shepard Smith rarely puts the White House in a negative light,” said O’Reilly, adding, “People like Greta, Bret Baier, Megyn Kelly, Martha MacCallum all give the White House a fair shot every day.”
“Ms. Dunn is seeing the world through the prism of the other media, like NBC News and CNN. By all accounts those networks favored Barack Obama over John McCain.”

About Firedoglake
The facts are at fault, having a liberal bias means Faux has to give some balance by giving the lies more play, to make up for those who keep telling about facts, say, on the internet.
Good morning. Wassup?
Fox News doesn’t even have the testicles to show one of President Obama’s evening press conferences for fear their cult members (their viewers) will revolt.
Hitler and his chief propagandist, Goebbles, used to whine about their “right” to free speech, too.
One of their favorite screeds was about how Germans were being “mistreated” in certain countries — the same ones the Nazis ended up invading, coincidentally.
By claiming the role of the victim in the reichwing’s war with the fourth estate, the pattern is pretty clear as to what they’re really up to. Pretext is prologue.
And, anyone who doubts their agenda should read the things Francis Schaeffer has written and said in the past. He’s the guy who formed The Family back in 1935 — the same group that Fuehrer/Deacon Tom Coburn (R-OK) belongs to, and preaches the overthrow of the government and estblishment of a fascist authoritarian theocracy.
Speaking of testicles, when was the last time you ran into someone who had them?
Do you check every time you run into someone?
The Left’s paranoia over Fox News is comical. It exposes your fear and weakness.
Hey, good morning to you too!! *g*
I observe that there are very few people in power who are willing to stand up for anything. You can substitute spine, if you prefer a gender neutral comment.
Yeah, we’re really weak right now. We only control every level of government.
Yep, I’ve been saying for years now that the right wing of this country poses a far greater threat to America and what it stands for (or at least used to stand for) than any terrorist organization, or the old USSR even.
These fuckers have got to stopped. Unfortunately, there’s no easy way to do that in a country that puts great emphasis on it’s right to free speech. The ability to manipulate and mislead the masses is just naturally far easier in such a setup.
Only way I can think of is to just kill the bastards, but don’t much like that alternative. *g*
Wow, the paid trolls are up early this morning!
You’re right, at least when it comes to Democrats. I believe if you put every Democratic politician in a room you still couldn’t come up with a complete set of test…, ok a complete spine.
Call me a cynic, but I wonder if the WH is aggressively going after Faux News now to try and get the progressive base fired up about this so as to distract us from the screwing they are about to put on us in health care reform. I think this WH learned a lot about deception politics from the Cheney Admin
I can’t decide whether Hannity and Beck are trying to incite a revolution or whether they’re running for president.
Well, Ds controlling every level of national govt hasn’t gotten very much in the way of progressive legislation.
You’re a cynic. Cynics, IMO, are the only ones who speak truth these days.
Yes you do, and yet you screech around in a paranoid frenzy because less than 1% of the country watches Bill O’Reilly. Truly comical.
Have you been following Alan Grayson? He has both a set and a spine.
Heh. Exception that proves the rule.
Hmmm. By definition, wouldn’t that by characteristic of cynics at all times?
Lie-berman logorrhea time on Imus this morning. Boogah boogah, taxes, taxes, cutting Medicare, doesn’t support Backus bill, trying to do too much, trying to raise people’s taxes…. must fix healthcare delivery system first….
Hadassah will be so proud.
And in Lie-berman’s world, the beak-dippers will still rule the day.
Re:
et al
I’ve often wondered why the women on this allegedly Progressive website tolerate all the sexist, paternalistic, demeaning remarks that are common here equating women with weakness. I thought all you enlightened Leftist males were beyond the MCP stage.
Was it Ailes or Murdock that said that facts don’t matter?
I ended up yesterday participating in a long debate with the director of a group that pretends to be pro-life.
He argued that people don’t know that abortion is genocide, that he really likes the health insurance that he gets through his wife’s employer (in other words, the thousands of people who die each year because they don’t have health insurance are irrelevant, their lives aren’t important, and all because he is happy with what he gets from the current health care system and so doesn’t care about others’ suffering and deaths), and that the profits of private insurance companies must be defended over the lives of human beings (he said that all I wanted to do was destroy the private health insurance companies).
What time will the senate finance committee vote?
Someone in the Dem leadership needs to pull the gavel out of Lie-berman’s hand and put the microphone [edited by moderator].
[Mod Note: Please do not suggest that violence be carried out on anyone, even if in jest. Thank you.]
I don’t know enough history to make such a sweeping statement. *g*
I think Shep tries to be a real journalist. We saw during Katrina dude has a soul. But his one news show is drowned out by the rest, often the partisanship comes through in the news reports where the reporters’ bias is clear with their sneers, or toss of the hair and sarcastic delivery. They allow Hannity and O”Reilly to dismiss him like he’s the kid or the off-the-hook guy. They don’t make a clear line between their one news show and the dozens of opinion shows all day and all night. If Fox seriously backed Shep and had a commitment to delivering the news in a non-partisan way, they’d make him managing editor.
Flawless victory!
Genocide:
This person needs to learn the language before entering debates
I think people who have employer-purchased health care have no grasp of the issues (for the most part). They are protected from marketplace choice (the employer makes it, most don’t have options on the carrier, though they may have some choices related to the plan), they don’t know how much of their premium their employer is paying, and they have never had chronic illness or major illness that would lead to denials of care, etc.
Their defense of private insurance is based on zip.
Actually, he GRAPHICALLY and EXPLICITLY equated abortion to the Holocaust and to black people being murdered by racists.
Not sure, but facts do have a liberal bias.
Funny, that.
I generally have found when people say they are pro-life, if you press them, it turns out they are really only pro-fetus. What happens to the mother or the infant after birth or the child he will become is not their concern. They are often simply pro-one-kind-of-life.
Those who write the checks aren’t getting their money’s worth. Most I’ve seen fall into the category of having to be right, have to have the last word and think the world should march to the beat of their individual drum. Authoritarians. *spit*
Mornin’, BT, pups
You can’t debate with closed minds. To have a debate, you have to accept that the opposing view has merit. The essence of hypocracy is an unwavering belief in your absolute correctness.
Very true. But I wasn’t trying to convince him. He has a fancy PhD. I was debating him for the benefit of the two dozen young adults who gathered and listened to the arguments!
“Pro-life” folks also like to keep the plug in for brain dead people.
Did you get feedback from the audience wrt which arguements were effective?
Ha ha ha ha haaaaaaaaa! I couldn’t have said it any better myself!
BTW, it’s “hypocrisy.” I wonder why people have so much trouble spelling that word, being that it’s used so much here.
I don’t believe you can debate with someone whose facts are held dogmatically as opposed to empirically.
Very, very true! I challenged him by pointing out loudly that if he really believes that all life is precious and that the purpose of government is to protect life – especially the lives of the most vulnerable members of our society – then he should take his belief to its logical conclusion and join those of us who support a public health insurance option, which must be made available to all Americans.
I agree! And I think they believe they have something better than most and they are afraid they might lose it. They haven’t made the connection that the reason they aren’t getting raises is because their company is paying more and more toward their premium. In most cases, they’ve never had cause to test how good their insurance coverage really is. How can it be that they don’t know someone who has been turned down or had their insurance cancelled? If things don’t change, there will come a day when they do come to realize what most of us already know, and we can ask, “How do you like it now?”
Chris Matthews up on MSNBC… where’s my Dylan Ratigan??????
Fascinating, Knoxville! Where did this impromptu debate occur? Were the young adults getting it?
If taken to it’s logical conclusion, it would seem to me that we should support single payer NOW and put an end to any more deaths by spreadsheet.
them too. I feel a little sorry for them because I think they truly believe they are obligated to believe enough and pray enough and keep the option open for God to come down and work a miracle for their loved one. They build a prison for their loved one. Very sad.
Check out my comment at 42, for one. The best way to convince an audience of the bankrutcy of such nonsense and of just how much people like this guy, this director of the CBR southeast region, are total frauds is to rip up them up at the heart of their arguments.
I got him to defend the US’s use of torture (using bankrupt arguments), too.
It happened on the campus of the University of Tennessee.
I wrote a long diary entry at FDL’s Sentinal about it.
There were three or four professors who stayed and listened, too. One of them congratulated me at the end. And one of the students asked me how to contact Harry Reid so he could send him a letter.
I. Cannot. Listen. To. Chris. Matthews….
Chris Matthews in the morning is too much for me too.
With special guest Joe Scarborough… gak

Namaste
I think Olbermann spoke fairly decently of Carl Cameron once. And Shep “None of Your Fuckin’ Business” Smith can surprise.
People like Greta, Bret Baier, Megyn Kelly, Martha MacCallum……
Assholes. Every one. Hume too.
Anybody in their jammies??
Has he said why Radigan is not there?
The Goebbles just want to have fun.
It is truly amazing to watch the Cluster=Fox folks look each other in the eye – lie about themselves directly to their colleagues – not laugh!! How do they do that or is that the News Corp. training????
Saying on MSNBC that the Finance Committee begins debate on the Baucus garbage at 10am. Don’t know yet when there’ll be a vote.
Thanks everyone for the morning chat. I’m off to work in an industry that has been decimated by the banksters. I sell motorcycles,(i.e. fun) and my company’s sales are down 60% this year. If the economy is so bad that you can’t sell fun, how bad is it?
Haven’t had jammies since I was in grade school.
Let’s hear it for blogging nekkid. Booyah!
Joe Scarborough has his good moments, but he always ends up resetting to his dauflt and sounding as crazy as he did when he was in Congress.
Not that I heard.
SD @ 61
Yeah, but you get all those cheetoh crumbs all over you. *g*
Oy, on WJ another “health care” economist who understands nothing about the industry.
eCAHN, you like the Nobel prize for econ yesterday?
New post up top…
My knowledge of economics is narrow, and decidedly nonacademic. I don’t know anything about the people who won the economics Nobel.
Good Morning All, and –
TA-DAH!!!!!
Who just said no other would ‘self emulate’ the way the health industries do,ROTGLMAO
Thanks, should be fun.
Anybody in their jammies??
Planning to buy a new pair when I get my check from George Soros.
See 61 above.
If you were an academic economist you would know Williamson’s work, original and enlightening, but written with a heavy-handedness that makes the original German seem light by comparison. I never read more awkward prose by a professional economist in my life. As to the substance, he deserves it. With respect to the other winner, most professional economists would be as surprised as I am. I have actually written on the topic she got the prize for, and was cited by the Nobel Committee in its award a couple of years ago (much to my amazement). I think she might have given the Commencement address at my university a few years back, but for the life of me, she is an unknown.
What this comes down to is that Provosts and Deans are going to start taking a hard look at the salaries they are paying high-tech mathematical economists whose work compares unfavorably with the writings of early eighteenth-century scholastic theologians. Smart people doing absolutely second-rate self-referential work. I see this played out in seminars all the time. And if someone were to ask me what the great achievements are of the top economists in my department, I would be at a loss to tell them. A lot of their recognition comes from being the tallest person in a room of midgets.
Funny, I seem to recall that I have watched every Pres Obama prime time news conferences on Fox News…
“Anchorman Shepard Smith rarely puts the White House in a negative light,” said O’Reilly, adding, “People like Greta, Bret Baier, Megyn Kelly, Martha MacCallum all give the White House a fair shot every day.”
Did Bill O’Reilly just very subtly say that Shepard Smith was a liberal?
